It was a week later and Hollis was thriving. Being able to explore her own interest instead of what others allowed her to do was amazing. She'd made it through about a year's worth of muggle Math and English in this world as well as half a year's worth of History and Science. She was also making her way through some pop culture but that wasn't going nearly as fast as she'd like it to. Technology was tricky to handle, especially with her magic being stronger, but she'd found a Technomage book when browsing her shelves that she was hoping would work that kink out.

She'd also discovered a love of music. She was always a rather good singer naturally but she was looking forward to honing that and gaining technical skill. Unfortunately, while she seemed alright on the guitar, she was utterly hopeless on the piano. It had also occurred to her that she should stay in shape, and she had found some fun alternatives now that she would no longer be constantly fighting for her life, or at least wouldn't be for a while. Gymnastics was definitely something she wanted to master, and running was always something she had been good at.

All in all, Hollis would say everything was going perfectly.

Everything was going to shit. Clint's world was completely trashed. Everything was going fine, he was out on routine mission, in and out, when suddenly the target started yelling in German and shooting off a laser gun. Not that bad right? It wasn't, at least not until that kid showed up. To be fair, Clint acknowledged that she had been minding her own business until she was knocked over by one of his exploding arrows, but when she effortlessly took down the target she became a problem. "She's just a kid, she shouldn't know how to do all that." It only got worse when he followed her around to the alley only to see her gone. Following his gut he snuck up onto the fire escape and was shocked when he watched her literally appear out of thin air and then freaking teleport out of the alley.

For the past week, Fury had been on his ass to find this girl, which normally wouldn't be a hard ask. But for some reason this girl was untraceable. There were no records of her existence and the only time they'd caught her on camera ever, was that same day at a bookstore and at an ice cream stand. Just who was this mystery unknown and what exactly was she capable of?

"And why does it feel like I'm meant to meet her again?"

It was another few days later for Hollis before she left her townhouse. She wanted to go out and get some groceries along with some other bonus items. Death had thought of all the basics, but Hollis wanted some records, a few more muggle educational and recreational books and she was in desperate need of some more clothes.

Despite Hermione's insistence that Lavender and Pavarti were complete airheads, Hollis had actually befriended them and knew they definitely were not. The amount of knowledge those girls had when it came to Charms and Transfiguration to know all of the spells they loved to use for their hair, clothes and makeup was incredibly impressive. Needless to say, that spending time with them as often as Hollis did, they rubbed off on her and it was through them that Hollis learned that she loved expressing herself through her clothes and hair.

That being said, she wasn't nearly as knowledgeable as they were, which is why when she arrived at each store she immediately went to a sales associate to help her out. She ended up making two trips out, once to get all her clothes and books and another to get groceries and it was on that second run that Hollis ran into a spot of trouble.

She was only about two blocks away from her townhouse when she saw a woman and a small girl being followed by two men. Quickly changing route she started to tail the group and saw as they pulled them into an alleyway. Speeding up Hollis jogged and turned the corner just as the woman was pushed against the wall with a knife to her neck and her daughter was pulled away from her. Kicking into action, Hollis dropped her bags and quickly took out the man with the knife to the woman's throat. Turning, she used the other man's surprise to break his arm and wrist and then knocked him out as well.

Panting, she pushed her hair behind her ear and picked up the crying girl. Looking to the mother she asked, "Are you alright? Did they injure you at all?"

Holding onto her throat she rasped slightly, "I'm fine, thank god. Thank you actually."

"Oh, it's fine, truly. I was just on my way home and saw them following you, I thought I'd tag along and make sure you two would be alright."

"I appreciate it." Nodding to me holding her daughter she said, "You're good with her. Do you have siblings?"

Shaking her head, Hollis replied, "No, I'm an only child. My parents died when I was practically a baby, so they had no time to give me a sibling. I did have a godson, however, and I adored holding him." She sighed, and then passed the young girl over to her mother. "My name is Hollis by the way."

"Laura, Laura Barton. And this small thing is my daughter Lila."

"It's a pleasure to meet you two." Hesitating, Hollis continued. "Listen, this might be very strange, and you're absolutely free to say no, but I'm new to town and I could use a friend. Are you interested in perhaps meeting up for coffee sometime?"

Laura smiled. "I would love to, but I have to be honest, it's not often that I'm in town. It all depends on if my husband is here for work or not."

"That's totally fine. Here this is my number, if you ever want to meet up just give me a call." Hollis smiled at them both. "I hope you two make it home safe, but I should get going soon. I have some items that belong in the fridge."

With that they said goodbye, Hollis happy that she did a good deed and made a friend, Laura with a new story to tell her husband when he got home.
