Chapter Four
So, Hugo Agreste was, in his pajamas, just about to collapse near the canal after running across Paris. He checked his sister's favorite spots, their parent's favorite spots, and other places as well, but to no avail. He decided to go back home, thinking maybe his sister isn't here after all. Which means she will be in the hands of their parents. He was pulling out the time stone, when he bumped into a man gazing into the water. Bumped is a little bit of an understatement, he crashed into him. And in his attempt to prevent this old man from falling into the canal, he tripped into it instead. He had his mother's two left feet… and the bacteria that lived in the water. He was disgusted. Sweaty, tired, anxious, and frustrated, not to mention, NECK DEEP IN DIRTY WATER. Well, not really dirty but it was to him.
Hugo was a germaphobe and tried his hardest not to scream. He could swim just fine, but at this moment he was flailing his arms around like crazy. Luckily, he was able to grab hold of the stone, while the short old man in the hawaiian shirt was shocked. He gave Hugo a hand up out of the water.
The drenched boy climbed out of the canal, seating himself on the ground. He was on his last nerve. Everything hurt, he could practically feel the germs on him, and he wanted to cry. Really, really bad. He covered his face with his hand, breathing out deeply.
The old man looked at him sympathetically. Placing his hand on Hugo's shoulder, he spoke, "Are you okay, young man?"
The answer was so obvious to Hugo that he started chuckling. "Am I- am I okay?" He started laughing harder until he quite literally passed out. It was almost inevitable considering he was so exhausted.
When he woke up, he felt much better. His pajamas were dry, his muscles were okay, and he felt like he drank two cups of caffeine. Hugo was in a parlor of some sort, which smelled like stale crackers mixed with the scent of tea. In the corner, a short, balding old man could be seen rearranging things. "Um, where am I?" He asked timidly.
The old man turned around calmly, "You are in my house-"
When he turned around, something clicked in Hugo's head and came out in word vomit. "Master Fu?" He had never actually met the man he was speaking of, but he looked at the photo albums very often. He could recognize that face and Hawaiian shirt anywhere.
The old man's face widened in shock. Only then, did Hugo remember where he was. And the only thing he could think was, I am so screwed.
"Do-" The old man started.
If Hugo learned anything from his sister, if you want to get away with something, don't let them call you out. Don't give them the chance. Whether it'd be to correct your statement, run away, scream Bloody Mary, whatever it takes.
"I mean Faster Too! I thought your house was Faster, um, Tool. You know, that warehouse…" Another thing that Hugo had learned from his sister was that he was not a good liar. He stumbled on his words, both mentally and physically cringing. He had a big imagination, feeling as if he had already been caught even before he lied. So it was obvious.
"Faster Tool," Master Fu had a knowing look in his eyes, but he didn't look aggressive. "I have never heard of it before." This old man was aware that this boy might know more than he was letting on. And though that did make him particularly nervous, from what he saw earlier, this boy was kid hearted. No need to make him panic. But, he was very curious about who this might be. He couldn't remember meeting him. However, he did seem very familiar…
Hugo had stayed silent as the old man thought. This is a very wise man, he's going to know he is lying. He probably isn't buying it and is just playing along.
The boy internally groaned, Emma was so much better at this than he was. WWED(What Would Emma Do) was currently being put into action. Um, hrmm, ah! She would pass compliments, that usually worked well for her. Key word, her. It worked well for her.
"That is a wonderful shirt, sir." Hugo said abruptly, "It's very tropical."
Master Fu stared at him, "Why thank you."
Hugo nodded, "It really looks good on you."
The old man looked a little amused. Just a tiny bit. "And what about you? Those pajamas look very nice."
Hugo blushed. This was a disaster! He was meeting the guardian for the first time, the man that his parents admired, in his pajamas! Hugo had noticed his mistake when he got weird looks on the street occasionally. The only bright side he could think to this was that at least he was wearing the expensive ones. But then he might get them ruined by accident.
He was so embarrassed. Everything was going wrong, he was supposed to get his sister and get out. Not-
"Seize the Bourgeois Manor, Knights!"
Hugo scrambled up and looked out the window, being observed by the old man. An Akuma Attack! This really was the end of the world.
"It's not safe to go out there right now." Master Fu voiced as Hugo made a move for the exit. Hugo smiled sheepishly, "I know, sir. But my sister could be out there." With that, he left the strange looking building.
He left it on a note where it would seem like he was worried about what the Akuma would do to his sister, but in reality, if his sister was indeed here, he was more scared of what the sister would do to the Akuma. She was brave and slightly impulsive, and while he did have complete faith that his sister would be a good hero, she didn't have a miraculous. But, that's never stopped her before.
Meanwhile, at city hall, Emma was planning to best exhibit the autograph for maximum profit, when she heard shuffling and clanging. She perked up like a squirrel to see knights coming towards them. An Akuma! Emma felt like a kid in a candy store today, the exact opposite of her brother. But, she made no move to get involved, instead having a front row seat to show.
She gasped excitedly. "Omg, it's my dad," she whispered to herself, trying to position herself better. Cat Noir had just appeared and started dueling the Akuma. "That's him! He's fencing! This is amazing." She gushed, wanting to get out of her hiding spot to get a better view.
That's when she saw him. Jagged Stone. He had come out of the building with his guitar, trying to calm the two "crazed fans" down. Emma pursed her lips, maybe he wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. Either way he was still cool.
Dark Blade, the Akuma, had pushed back Cat Noir, and was about to hit Jagged Stone with his power. Emma's eyes went wide, and the same force she felt earlier this morning pushed her out of her hiding place, as she drop-kicked Jagged Stone out of the way and ducked. The zap-magic missed her by centimeter. On the rush of adrenaline, Emma leapt to her feet.
"It's Britney, Bitch."
