PREVIOUSLY-
"You do realize now that I've had a taste, I'm not going to be able to keep my hands or mouth to myself, right? You're mine." He repeated my words from yesterday. Shivers ran down my spine as he said the words.
"Yes, alpha." I said to him, causing another hungry growl to escape his throat. He liked that. I'd have to remember that. He kissed me once more before pulling his shorts back on.
"I'm going downstairs to get the clothes Rachel brought for you before you decide to tease me again." He smirked at me as he walked out of the bathroom.
I dried myself and pulled on Sam's shirt before walking back out to the bedroom and leaning against the bed.
Sam walked back in the bedroom and stopped in his tracks, seeing me wearing only his shirt.
"Now that's just not fair, Bella." He said walking over and pulling me up to his chest, leaning down to kiss me again.
"I think I'm going to keep the shirt on today." I winked at him before grabbing the pile of clothes and seeing what Rachel brought for me.
I was so happy to see that Rachel and I were the same size. She'd brought a pair of jeans that would fit me perfectly as well as a brand-new pack of panties and a pair of socks and shoes.
I pulled on a pair of the panties first as Sam watched my every move from his spot on the bed. I then slid the pair of jeans on and then tied Sam's shirt at the bottom, making it fit a little better.
"Well, how do I look?" I asked, spinning around for him.
"Like you're mine." He replied, pulling me to him by the hips.
"Good thing I am, right?" I replied. He hummed in response, kissing me again. "You're going to have to wear a shirt to meet with my dad."
"I'm going to phase to show your dad." He replied.
"Then I'll hold it while you phase. Come on Sam, you're meeting your future father-in-law." I watched for his reaction to my statement.
His eyes widened and snapped directly to mine with a huge smile blooming on his face. I could even feel his excitement.
"Yes, ma'am." He said, immediately getting up and walking to his closet grabbing a shirt and pulling it over his head.
"Is Charlie coming here?" I asked him curiously as it approached 11am.
"I felt like that was the best idea." He responded as we walked back down the stairs to wait for him.
I started to get nervous and he noticed. He grabbed both of my hands and leaned down to press his lips to mine.
"It'll be alright. I'm right here with you." He whispered to me as he rested his forehead against mine.
Moments later we heard Charlie's cruiser pull up and we broke apart. Sam went up to the door and opened it for him to come in.
"Sam, Bells." Charlie said as he saw me walking up to him. I gave him a hug while my eyes started to water, and he hugged me back. "What happened?"
I pulled back and wiped my eyes. "There's a lot to this story, Dad, and Sam is going to let you in on kind of a huge secret that will help you understand it all." I told him as he turned to Sam.
"We should have the first part of this conversation outside." Sam said, holding open the door.
Charlie looked at him funnily but followed anyways as I trailed behind.
"So what exactly am I being 'let in' on?" Charlie asked Sam curiously as we made it outside.
"A tribal secret that very few people know. I need you to try and keep an open mind for me." Sam told him and he nodded. "I'm sure Billy has explained to you some of the tribal legends, correct?"
"You mean the ones about you guys descending from wolves?" Charlie asked questioningly.
Sam nodded. "The legends are true. This tribe has a group of protectors who can transform into wolves."
"You're telling me that there's people who can just transform into wolves?" Charlie asked, looking over at me for confirmation. I nodded too. "You mean like werewolves?"
"Not exactly. It'll be easier to just show you." Sam said before taking his shirt off and throwing it to me. He ran into the woods next to us and came out moments later as a giant black wolf.
The moment Charlie saw him, he yelled, "Bella, get back!"
I just laughed and shook my head.
"It's just Sam, Dad." I replied, walking around him and directly toward the wolf.
I walked right up to Sam as Charlie watched and ran my fingers through his dark black fur as he leaned his head into my hand.
"See? I promise it's completely safe. Sam would never hurt me." I told Charlie honestly. I scratched behind his ear and he licked my face in return, making me giggle while Charlie just watched the spectacle.
Sam then walked back into the woods and came out moments later with his shorts back on. I threw him his shirt and he pulled it over his head as we walked back over to Charlie who was gaping like a fish.
"So you're a wolf," Charlie stated, seemingly in shock. "that acts like a damn giant puppy."
"Only for Bella. I'm the alpha of our pack." Sam replied with a chuckle.
"Right. A pack." Charlie said with his fingers running over his mustache.
"There are seven of us at the moment." Sam explained to him.
"Dad, Jake is part of the pack too. He's a wolf." I told him, hoping that it would ease him into a bit more.
"Jacob Black? Like the kid who I've watched grow up for the last 16 years?" Charlie asked me incredulously.
"Yes, sir. He was our 5th to phase." Sam replied. "Billy knows too. The whole council does."
"And the missing hikers?" Charlie looked at Sam to explain.
"We're protectors, Charlie. That's it. We protect the humans from what is hunting them, and unfortunately sometimes we're too late to save them." Sam explained to him.
"Then what the hell is 'hunting' them?" Charlie questioned quickly.
"Vampires, Dad." I told him, knowing what was coming next. "Before you ask, no they're not like the stories or movies. They don't sleep in coffins or have long k-9's. They aren't allergic to garlic and won't burn in the sunlight." Sam chuckled at that, knowing they sparkle instead. "They are immortal, they don't age, and they do live off blood, though not all of them drink human blood."
"And how do you know so much about these… vampires?" Charlie asked me with raised eyebrows.
"Umm… because I almost married one yesterday?" I spat out quickly, walking closer to Sam to prepare for the backlash.
"You're telling me that Edward Cullen is a vampire?" Charlie's eyes were wide.
"The whole Cullen family is. They're what is considered 'vegetarian' vampires. They only feed off the blood of animals." Sam told him.
"You knew this, Bella?" He asked me.
I nodded. He rubbed his hand across his forehead then scratched the back of his neck.
"How old was the kid, really?" Charlie asked me and I knew what he was actually asking.
I cleared my throat and muttered, "109?" I think Charlie's jaw hit the floor.
"One hundred and nine years old?" Charlie asked, drawing it out as not quite understanding.
"He was born in 1901." I replied.
"And you were going to marry him?"
"Why don't we take things back inside." Sam mentioned, trying to take some of the heat out of the conversation.
We all walked inside and sat at the kitchen table. I took a deep breath and began.
"There's a few different reasons that I ran away from the wedding last night, Dad. My relationship with Edward wasn't always sunshine and daisies like I thought it was…" I explained to him the controlling factor but left out the part about wanting to become a vampire.
"And how does Sam come into play with all of this?" Charlie questioned.
"I asked for his help to get out of there yesterday and he came. He saved me. Which brings us to our next important topic. Why I'm here and why I'm going to be living here." I said nervously. "Sam?"
"There's something that can happen and has happened to some of us that have phased. It's called imprinting. When we imprint, the person we imprint on becomes our entire universe all at once. We'd do anything, be anything for them. We'd give our lives for them. Our top priority in life from that moment forward is to make sure they are protected and happy. We're connected for life by supernatural means. Almost like a supernatural marriage in a way." Sam explained.
"What does this all have to do with my daughter?" Charlie asked him, narrowing his eyes.
"I imprinted on Bella yesterday when I came for her." Sam told him honestly, reaching over to hold my hand as I smiled up at him.
"Right. So Bella basically left one wedding only to run right into another one?" He kind of made sense. I took a deep breath before responding.
"I guess so, essentially. It's not a one-sided thing, Dad. I can feel every part of the imprint. I trust Sam more than I've ever trusted anyone in my entire life, even myself. Imprints work crazy fast but it's because we're bound in a way that's so absolute, nothing could break it. I know that this is a lot to take in, but I promise that this is the best possible outcome that could've happened and I wouldn't change it for the world." I told him with complete honesty as I squeezed Sam's hand.
Charlie didn't speak for a moment, most likely to process everything.
"You do realize that people - including your mother - are going to think you ran from your wedding to be with another man." Charlie finally said.
"I don't care what they think, but if they ask then I'll more than happily tell them that I ran away from an abusive relationship and a wedding that I was practically forced into. I ran to someone I trusted with my life and Sam saved me. It's not the first thing he's saved me from and I know it won't be the last. I didn't ever cheat on Edward in any way. I know that most people won't believe that, but I don't care as long as we know the truth. Pretty much everyone at the wedding was from Forks or elsewhere anyways. I'm sorry Dad, but I don't plan on coming to Forks for a while. I'm afraid of what might happen if I do." I finished my piece as Sam stood up, walking behind my chair and putting his hands on my shoulders.
"I promise I'll take care of Bella, Charlie. She is my life now. I'll make sure that she's always safe and happy. I'll never try to control her. I may be the alpha of the pack, but I consider Bella as my equal in every way." Sam told him honestly.
"I definitely sound crazy saying this, but I believe you, son. I never liked that Edwin kid anyway and now I know why. I've always liked you, Sam. I'm glad my daughter ended up with a good man, the right person for her." Charlie said, reaching up to shake Sam's hand.
A/N- Charlie is officially in the know! Don't worry, Jacob is coming up soon as well as other exciting stuff. I do hope that you enjoy my writing. It's definitely my passion (along with writing screenplays - in which I'm currently writing another).
Please let me know how I'm doing.
P.S. If you have any questions or if you just need someone to talk to (trust me, I know there are those of us who turn to reading fanfiction as an outlet - speaking from experience) please PM me. I'm a good listener if nothing else.
