"You're hurt." Percy stated after noticing the partially healed wound on Annabeth's head.

"Oh, it's just a bruise, now will you let me in?" she gave Percy a quick kiss, who stood by the doorway and then rushed past him and called for Cheddar. Sure enough, their dog, a beautiful Pembroke welsh corgi, came running towards her, excited she is home.

"Hi, baby." Annabeth said as she knelt on the floor, letting the happy dog use her knees as a stepping stool to greet her.

"Why are you more excited to greet Cheddar than your, hot and incredibly charming fiancé?"

"Cause, Cheddar doesn't bombard me with questions, like you do." Annabeth smiled dimmed when she noticed Percy's worried expression.

He also sat back down on the floor next to her. "What happened?" He asked.

A few weeks ago, Annabeth had to rush to California, because her architecture firm, seemingly had a very important business deal. Originally, it was her boss who had to attend it, but he was feeling a little under the weather… actually no, he was really not doing well, so her boss wanted Annabeth to attend. Never one to disappoint, she accepted. Plus, it would be an absolute joy to rub it in her absolute ass of a co-worker, Marcus's face.

Clearly, a few weeks apart from Percy was very hard, but they did IM or video call whenever either of them had a nightmare or just wanted to see each other.

"A hellhound got me by surprise." After the giant war, it has become more dangerous, even though it ended a couple of years ago. Needless to say, Cali is more unsafe than usual, and that's saying something.

"Percy..." Annabeth paused, momentarily distracted by Cheddar running around them barking with joy, "I am fine, I can handle myself."

"I know you can." He sighed, looking anywhere but her. "But I had a nightmare."

Annabeth cupped his face in her hand, "Why didn't you tell me?" She asked softly.

"Why didn't you tell me about your wound." He retorted halfheartedly.

"Babe, you know why… I didn't want you to worry."

"Yea, that didn't work." Percy smiled at her, trying to lighten the mood. Annabeth smiled back at him, "Figured."

"Now why don't you kiss you amazing fiancé'." Annabeth rolled her eyes at him, "Really?"

"I swear, sometimes I think you love cheddar more than -mpphh." Annabeth pulled him into a deep kiss, which Percy is more than happy to retaliate and wrapped his arms around her waist. Annabeth would have been more than happy to stay there forever, safely in the arms of the love of her life if it weren't for her over-enthusiastic dog, which she has grown to love so much.

Cheddar cut his way between them, wagging his tail on their face, licking them.

"Gods, your lucky your so cute." Percy cooed, rubbing Cheddar's ears. Annabeth looked at the man who she is going to spend her whole life with and just knew she made the right choice.
