Chapter 4: The party
After Phantom's last game his fame went up. He was now recognized as one of the great legends in the arena. He still had a long way to go. As of right now though Phantom was pinned down by a barrage of bullets. He went through the wall to the outside to get away from the team. When he got outside he saw wraith standing there with a wingman in her hand.
He said "well shit." A moment later Phantom was coming out of the respawn chamber back at base. He came down to face Wattson and Octane. "Sorry hermano I thought we had that," said Octane
Phantom then said "it's ok almost killed an entire squad, but another team went in the 3rd party." Wattson then said " It's ok at least we tried our best." "yeah Wattson's right we all did good today, lets go get some lunch," said Phantom. They all got up and walked away as Wattson was red in the face.
When they got up and sat down Wattson went to go talk to her other friends. Octane and Phantom went to sit down with Walter or better known as Fuse. Fuse was an explosive expert. Phantom had talked to him on multiple occasions and even teamed up with him in a duo once.
"Sorry about that one mate, Just saw the match replay," said Fuse. "Yeah it was unfortunate, but it just means we can work and coordinate better," said Phantom. Phantom, Octane, and Wattson may not be the best squad, but they have fun while in the games. Mirage also came to sit down with them. Mirage and Phantom have been friends since his first day. When Pathfinder couldn't attend a game Phantom would fill in for him. He, Mirage, and wraith were an amazing team.
"Sometimes it's not about the will. It's about having fun,"said Mirage. "Says the showboat," says Phantom. "Just because I like having fun doesn't mean I don't get the job done," said Mirage. Then Phantom said "The last time I was on your team you used your decoys as an audience while you were using a mic on the stage." Mirage then countered with " It was a distraction so you guys could kill them. We ended up winning that fight didn't we." With that logic Kevin couldn't complain. Even with all of his antics Mirage is the best person to distract someone with his decoys.
When Phantom went against him once even he got confused for a second. "Yeah I sometimes hate those decoys of yours," said Phantom. Meanwhile this conversation was happening when a certain someone was looking at Phantom without his knowledge. It was Wattson, she was staring at the back of his head with a dreamy look on her face.
Someone then started snapping their finger in her face. Bangalore then said " are you even paying attention." Wattson then asked "what were we talking about again" "We were talking about the party at the conference building tonight," said Bangalore "when are you going to ask him out," said Lifeline. " I don't think he likes me like that,"said Wattson. "Never know until you ask him,"said Bangalore. Wattson then went red faced and said "like you and Loba." This shut Bangalore right up.
"Just go ask him. What's the worst that could happen,"said Lifeline. Wattson then thought for a moment and then stood up and walked over to the boy's table. Wattson then tapped Phantom on the shoulder. Phantom then turned around and said" Hey What's up." "Can I talk to you," said Wattson Phantom then moved over on the bench. Then Wattson said" I meant in private." Phantom and her both then walked out of the dining hall.
"Whats up Natalie. What did you want to talk about" said Phantom. Wattson they got nervous and started shifting from one foot to the other. When she was about to ask her question, a Man with slicked back black hair came around the corner. He looked at them and started making his way towards them.
Wattson saw this man and her whole expression changed into an angry one. She then turned away from him. "Natalie, talk to me," said the man. Wattson then said "I don't want anything to do with you."
He then grabbed her shoulder and she shrugged it off. He went for a more aggressive grab, but Phantom stopped his hand from grabbing her. Phantom then said "What is your problem?" The man then said " you should stay out of things that don't concern you." "make me," Phantom growled.
Then the 2 went into a stare down. After a few seconds the man just walked away. Wattson then said "thanks" "Who was that guy?" asked Phantom. Wattson explained to him that it was Alexander Nox or Caustic. He was a scientist that did deadly experiments till he was accepted into the apex games. He also was a doctor. Wattson also explained how he had betrayed her.
"That's tough. This guy really wants to see everything choke on his gas,"said Phantom. Wattson then said "yeah he is going over the deep end after I stopped talking to him." Phantom then remembered that Wattson wanted to ask him a question. " Hey Nat what did you want to ask me earlier?" Wattson then got really nervous again. She then said " I wanted to ..to.. Ask if you are coming to the party tonight." Wattson then mentally facepalmed herself.
Phantom then said "party?" "Yeah the one at the conference building, all the legends were invited to it." said Wattson. Phantom thought about it. He didn't have anywhere to be later. "It's ok if you don't want to go," said Wattson. Phantom then smiled at her and said " I'll be there promise." Wattson then said "REALLY, I mean yeah it will be really cool."
Then they both left back to their rooms to get ready for the party.
Time skip.
At the conference hall the party was just beginning and all the guests were arriving. " This is really fancy,"said Octane. He was only wearing a tuxedo with no bow tie and shorts that showed off his metal legs. Mirage and Phantom both showed up in ful tuxedo suits. The only difference was the Mirage's bow tie was yellow and Phantom's was green.
The place was pretty fancy. They all walked in and through the main corridor. Before they go to the bar Wraith wearing a purple dress walks up and takes Mirage away. Octane also went to hang out with Lifeline. Phantom felt really out of place, he had never been invited to an event like this back in his own time. He took a drink off a server plate and was about to take a sip.
At that moment Wattson walked in. She was wearing a blue spaghetti strap dress in black legging and blue slip ons. Her hair was cut short and fully out. She also had a purse that had a lightning design on it. Phantom was staring at her. 'She is very beautiful' he thought. When she got close he cleared his throat and fixed his tie. "You look amazing," he said to her.
Wattson then flushed red and said "you clean up nice yourself." Phantom then said "thanks." Then went back to the group of legends. Phantom ended up meeting a Dr. Mary Somers or Horizon. At first they didn't have much in common till they started to talk about space and quantum mechanics. As they finished their conversation, Lifeline elbowed Wattson. She then said "This is your chance."
Phantom then to the balcony for some fresh air. He was having lots of thoughts going through his head. He was having so much fun, but then reality set in. He wasn't in his own time. He wondered how long until he got home. His mom and sister had to know he was missing by now right. Phantom stared at the moon and stars in the sky. He never felt so lost in life before now.
Wattson stood next to him and looked at the sky too. " My papa taught me about the stars when I was little," she said. "It's beautiful isn't it," said Phantom. Wattson then asked, " Do you want to go dancing?" Phantom took her hand and they went to the dance floor. She put her arms around his neck and he grabbed her waist. They danced and they both looked into each other's eyes.
Both their hearts were beating fast. For that moment they were the only ones there. They started to lean in. They were only an inch apart.
BOOM
The whole ceiling of the building was blown in. Phantom pushed himself and Wattson out of the way. They ran into the kitchen area. Then a bunch of people with guns came down on ziplines. "Everybody down on the ground now!" said one of the men while he was firing shots into the ceiling. Phantom looked at Wattson. This is gonna get bumpy.

Ok so he would go intangible and moon walk through someone then he would turn the watch off and kick them in the back of the head.
