Okay, okay. So this one isn't really about Lily's pregnancy but it is about Jily. Plus, I just had to write it down and I figured here is as good a place as any. Anyways, hope you enjoy!

"GO!" Fabian shouted. He ducked and an emerald green spell blasted into the wall just behind where his head was a moment ago. "GO! NOW!"

Lily didn't need to hear him twice. She fired off a curse at a masked Death Eater, hitting him in his shoulder and sending him skidding backwards. But she didn't wait to see it collide; instead, she turned around and grabbed Sirius by his left wrist, his right hand still firing curses and defensive spells every second. Lily shut her eyes and turned on the spot, hoping beyond hope that no curse happened to be passing through the surrounding air and get sucked into nothingness with them.

She opened her eyes as her feet hit solid ground again. She staggered in the grass and took a deep breath of the fresh, crisp evening air in the small yard of the flat that was their temporary Order Headquarters. Her right hand gently reached towards her left forearm where some blood had already dried on the edges of her torn sleeve, but with the adrenaline coursing through her veins, she hadn't even noticed it before now.

Sirius spun around in confusion, his brows furrowing as he realized what had happened. "Come on, Evans!" he roared. "Why'd you grab me? I had them!"

Lily glared at him furiously, her cheeks red and hands shaking. "No. You didn't. We were outnumbered, two to one, at best!"

"We could have gotten the papers still! We could've-" Sirius groaned again.

"She was following orders, Sirius," Fabian Prewett said exhaustedly. He was clutching his shoulder and red blood was seeping through his pale fingers. Lily rushed forward and pried his fingers off, trying to see the wound.

"Did everyone make it back?" Gideon asked, equally exhausted as his twin.

Lily focused on Fabian's shoulder, trying to steady her trembling hands to point her wand at the gash.

"Peter and I are here!" came Remus's voice as he stepped out of a dark corner of the backyard. Peter was limping, his arm around Remus's shoulders for support.

"Marlene's here," Marlene called.

Another soft pop sounded and Lily couldn't help but turn hopefully at the sound. James had appeared out of nowhere by the wall of the flat, just under a lantern jutting out of the pale brick.

"I'm here! I'm h-" James said with a sigh with a cut lining his temple and a breathless, lopsided grin.

"JAMES!" Lily screeched, completely forgetting about the healing spell she was planning on casting on Fabian's arm. Instead, she ran towards James and threw her arms around his neck, clutching at the back of his shirt.

James wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her as tightly as he could, closing his eyes and revelling in the feeling of Lily safe in his arms. Her fingernails dug into his back and he could feel the desperation as she held onto him, a desperation that he felt deep within his own chest.

"Oh, Lils," he sighed softly into her hair.

"You're okay," she whispered back to confirm the fact to herself. She leaned back in his arms and stared into his bespectacled eyes. She reached up with one hand and ran a thumb over the cut etched onto his face, biting her lip worriedly. Meanwhile, James stared at her with a soft smile and he leaned down to kiss her hairline.

"I love you so much," he murmured.

"I love you more," she muttered back, resting her cheek against James' chest and feeling shivers run down her spine as he stroked her hair.

He sighed and looked down at the top of her head, unable to get the image of that blindingly bright green light firing just an inch by her ear, singeing the tip of her hair.

"We should… We should get married," he said, thinking out loud.

Lily's eyes snapped open, her face frozen in a blank slate as she tried to work out if he was joking.

"W-What?" she stammered.

"I'm serious!" he said with a laugh, holding Lily by the shoulders with his infectious grin brightening his entire face. "We should get married!"

"What? James-" Lily said with a disbelieving and fake laugh.

"I love you, Lily," James said fiercely, his hazel eyes boring into hers. "I've loved you for years now. We… We only live once, right? And I want to spend as much of my life married to the love of my life."

"James…," Lily began flustered.

He reached down and held her two hands between them, smiling brazenly.

"I… James, we're… we're just nineteen! We're so young!" Lily said loudly, biting her bottom lip.

"We're old enough to fight in a war! We're old enough to almost die and we're old enough to… to almost have to kill!"

Lily gave him a watery smile, almost pitying. "James-"

"Lily, you're the only one for me. You've always been the only one for me! Ever since we were fourteen, I knew you were the only one. You… you're my forever, Lils," he said firmly, ending his impromptu speech in a voice just loud enough for her to hear. He held her two hands tightly between their chests and squeezed her fingers, trying to prove all of his commitment and loyalty to her.

"I-," Lily sighed.

"Will you make me tha absolute happiest man in the whole world and marry me? I love you so, so much that I can not put it into words. My whole heart belongs to you, Lils."

Lily smiled and knew that he meant it, without a doubt.

"I love you too, James. I don't know how I could even live without you," she replied honestly.

James smirked hopefully. "So… is that a yes? Will you marry me?"

Lily squeezed her lips together, deep in thought. She paused for a second, though James would always remember it as stretching on for at least ten minutes, until the corners of her mouth turned up playfully. "How can I say yes when you haven't even given me a ring?"

James' smile drooped and he looked around frantically. "One second! Stay right there." He dropped Lily's hands while she felt a smile envelop her entire face. He stooped forward, crouching low to the dirt, and grabbed something from the ground while pulling out his wand so that all Lily saw was a quick fly of sparks before he straightened up again, cupping something in his hands.

Then he got down on one knee, shoving his wand into his back pocket as he did so.

He held out a small knotted daisy, the stem wrapped into a loop with its pure white petals sticking out at the top. "Lily," he asked, his eyes twinkling. "Will you marry me?"

Lily laughed and sniffed at the same time, wiping one hand under her eyes. Then she held out her right hand and whispered, "Yes, James. I will marry you."

James grinned wildly and slid the hardened daisy ring onto her finger. Her other hand was covering her mouth and her eyes were sparkling, alight with joy. When the ring was slid all the way up her finger, James stood, refusing to let go of her. He instantly cupped her face in his hands and their lips met, their eyes shut tight, and fireworks ignited on their skin, sending tingles all the way down their arms and into their fingertips.

"YEAH!" Sirius shouted, punching the air with his fist.

Remus laughed and started clapping at his side, sending the rest of the small gathering into cheers and a few whistles.

James and Lily parted with surprise, both of them having forgotten that others existed in the world, let alone the small backyard itself. James grinned at his friends, the last three Marauders standing side by side in a line. Lily laughed and clutched onto James' elbow in order to cling to reality, her eyes shifting from the Marauders, to her best friend Marlene, and to the older Order members like Fabian and Gideon, both of which were smiling identically at the young couple.

Sirius jumped forward, a wide smile stretching across his entire face. He jumped onto James, sending him stumbling backwards and laughing giddily. Marlene ran forward with a small smile and wrapped her best friend in a warm hug, rocking her side to side and whispering well-wishes and congratulations into her ear. Remus was next to congratulate his two friends and grinned at James with a cocked eyebrow like they both could hardly believe what just happened, which to be fair, they couldn't. Peter followed behind shyly with a sheepish smile and gave Lily an awkward hug, following with a brotherly embrace for James.

James laughed again and grabbed Lily's hand from his side, holding it up above their heads victoriously to the semi-circle surrounding them. Lily's cheeks burned a fierce red and she shook her head in disbelief. Yes, they were all cut and scraped. Bloody and bruised. Terrified and trembling. Yet, here they were. Joyful and giddy. Excited and thrilled.

Loved and in love.
