Lost sense of purpose
Chapter four
Commander Higgins having left the bridge. He was paying attention to the location of where he was going. He was getting the feeling that he was being watched by someone. Even though every time he looked around the person was gone having disappeared.
He headed down the corridor when he heard noises coming from an area. Gibbs decided to check it out by listening to the conversation.
"You crazy fool! I just can't believe Mills that you killed both of them to have the authorities notified about the deaths especially from NCIS. I wouldn't be surprised that they had sent in an undercover agent to investigate further?" Lt. Jonesy had to say to Janey Mills.
"The only new man on board right now is Commander Leroy Higgins that Captain Duane Reads likes a great deal from what I can tell." Mills needed to say on the subject.
"Maybe it's possible that he might be our man to find out the truth?" Lt. Jonesy responded.
While Higgins/Gibbs had backed off with leaving to head for his quarters to send a coded message to NCIS and the D.O.D. When he arrived he needed to be careful with his movements for where ever he goes on the carrier.
Arriving inside with changing out of his uniform into civies for now. He pulled out his radio transceiver hiding. He placed it into the password and code. He was able to send the message to the communications center for which Agent Victoria Tyler working this particular shift was working for this particular board. When Gibbs coded message had come in explaining about the two crew members.
She needed to give this to Director Leon Vance. She walked out of the communications room on level five. She headed for the elevator making it feel slow as hell. When the doors open she walked into pressing the desired floor for Vance's office.
She really hated bothering him especially having to be busy with all of the cases of late. She walked into the outer office since his secretary had not come in today. Knocking on his door to hear the usual grumble asking to come inside already.
"Agent Tyler what's up?" he had lifted his head from the pile of files on his desk.
"Sir, I have received a coded message from Special Agent Gibbs on board the U.S.S. Horatio," she said watching his reaction.
"Let me have it Agent Tyler?" he asks with putting back on his glasses to read the coded message.
After a few moments of reading it a few times making sure of what he had said about his undercover operation being in danger and his life.
"Is there something wrong sir?" Tyler was concerned for her family member.
"Yeah! Special Agent Gibbs is going to lose his life if he doesn't get out of there soon. He was able to find out just who was behind the two murders." Vance said. "Do me a favor don't mention any of this to Loreile in case she tries to call you?" he said with the request.
"Sure enough sir." she left his office to head back to the communications center.
Higgins/Gibbs needed to get in some exercise inside of the gym. Since he had started running again with his wife along with his boxing needing to keep in shape instead of always drinking his black coffee.
Changing his clothes at one of the lockers. He was overhearing a conversation behind them about two of the gym members needing to ask the Russian mob for a loan.
"I told you, I don't know on whether I will be able to go through with it knowing how much I will have to pay back. " Sergeant Janey Mills had to say with changing into their shorts to run on the track.
"Maybe you're able to set up some type of a deal with them like working driving their trucks or even selling drugs here onboard the carrier," Kohl said to him about having to be thinking about it.
Higgins/Gibbs stopped listening to get himself ready for his run on the track with changing into his sweat pants and top. While placing the water bottle on his clip.
He walked into the track area where there were five others doing their running. One of the runners was Lt. Jonesy. Gibbs needed to watch his back with this man and the other two that were talking behind the locker.
They had decided to take the chance with using their small revolver he had hidden with the silencer. As Gibbs/Higgins went around the track going for a second with his heart rate racing as with his blood pressure.
The crowd had been thinning inside the track. When all of sudden with Sergeant Mills with the revolver fired twice to hit Gibbs into the back and shoulder before going down. Both Mills, Jonesy, and Kohl as part of the plan called for help before disappearing...
Meanwhile, security arrived along with a medical technician on duty saw Commander Higgins having been shot by whom? They had no idea at the moment. But it was a priority to call sickbay for medical personnel to bring him into surgery to remove the bullets.
They have no idea what type of damage was done to his back and right shoulder.

Director Leon Vance was getting ready to leave his office. When a call came in from the U.S.S. Horatio out at sea now. He was wondering what was going on to have Captain Duane Reads calling.
"This is Director Leon Vance of NCIS. How can I help you, Captain?" he said feeling as if something has happened with his gut.
"I am sorry Director. Special Agent Gibbs has been shot twice while running on the track in the gym. We don't have any suspects at the moment." he commented ...
"And my agent's condition?" Vance needed to know with his heart in his throat.
"Shot twice in the lower back and right shoulder. He's been taken to sickbay for where our surgeons are currently working on him."
"I will be sending a team to your carrier and I do hope you will be able to cooperate Captain?" Vance said with anger with his demeanor.
"Understood. I also suggest that you get his wife to come as well just in case of more issues with his condition?" Captain Reads needed to say.
