Prompt request from Shamy01 requesting for when Amy and Sheldon got back together after she ended the relationship.

Sheldon Cooper was a stickler for a schedule, a strict routine that had to be followed otherwise his life would be thrown into chaos. He yawned loudly as he poured his cereal into the bowl, he had barely slept, tossing and turning all night barely managing an hours sleep however, he had to stick to his usual wake up call.

He had two things to blame the lack of sleep on. One being Amy, he couldn't stop think about whether he had made the right decision turning down her request to restart their relationship again. They had had a wonderful day at the aquarium together and proved to each that they could remain friends, Sheldon had really missed their interactions but he also knew he never wanted to be hurt the way Amy had hurt him when she ended their relationship. Being heartbroken sucked and if that meant never falling in love again he was happy to avoid heartbreak for the rest of his life.

The second reason for his lack of sleep was due to a song that he could not shake from his mind. All night he heard the melody running through his head yet could not place any lyrics to it. Even as he sat down to eat his cereal, the song was still torturing him and before he knew it he found himself humming the tune.

"Since when do you sing?" Leonard asked as he entered the kitchen dressed in his robe and poured himself a coffee.

"I've had this song in my head all night" he explained as he started singing the tune yet again. Leonard gave him a few suggestions that Sheldon started to sing with the melody in his head but quickly concluded that none of them seemed to fit.

"It'll just be an ear worm" Leonard shrugged.

"An ear worm?"

"Yeah, you know when you get a song stuck in your head that you can't shake off" he explained.

"No, I don't. I don't think this has ever happened to me before" Sheldon seemed confused by the concept, Leonard would have been surprised by the admission but then he realised this was Sheldon and nothing ever surprised him anymore. "What do you do to get rid of it?" he asked.

"You don't, you just wait until it clicks"

"But that could take ages" Sheldon whined, his patience already wearing thin.

"Sheldon, it's just a song" Leonard sighed. Sheldon wanted to protest and argue, it wasn't just a song. The way that it had buried itself into his head, into his heart there was more to this than just a song.

Amy felt awful, heartbroken in fact. Is this how she had made Sheldon feel when she called things off? If it was, then that thought alone made her feel even worse. She still loved him. A part of her assumed she always would. In the grand scheme of things, five years out of a lifetime was probably only a very small amount of time but Sheldon was more to her than that. It was through knowing Sheldon and because of him that her life had changed, that she had changed in the best way possible and because of that, the five years that she had spent with him would always be some of the best of her life.

But that chapter was over now. It was closed. She had tried to rekindle what they had but he had shot her down, in the loveliest Sheldon like way but it was a rejection all the same. She had to move on or at least try, thats clearly what Sheldon wanted.

Before she knew what she was doing she was calling Dave, the tall British guy that she had been on a few dates with, she had called time on that very brief encounter when she realised he probably wasn't for her. He was sweet and seemed to like her or maybe he liked her because she knew Sheldon but regardless, she figured everyone deserved a second chance. She quickly found herself asking him out on yet another date, arranging to meet him across town for dinner.

"Have you ever had to deal with something so relentlessly irritating?" Sheldon asked as he Leonard and Penny sat down for dinner, he picked at the chicken salad in front of him ignoring the look Penny was shooting Leonard. "It's making me crazy" he sighed.

He started humming the song again, much to the annoyance of his roommates. He had been at it all day, humming the song in the car, tapping it out on any surface that he found. He had been driving Leonard mad.

"I shouldn't be surprised, there's been an abundance of great minds that have descended into madness" he spoke feeling rather sorry for himself.

"You're not going mad" Penny sighed. "It's just a song."

"Yes, a song that has been in my head for nearly twenty four hours, a song that I have been singing all day" Penny could tell that this was really distressing him, no matter how much time she spend with Sheldon, he always surpassed her expectation on how crazy he could be. "Why are you laughing?" he asked, as he noticed Penny smiling brightly from across the table, her eyes held a playful glitter to them.

"I know the song" she smirked whilst chewing on her chicken. Sheldon placed his fork down and gave Penny daggers.

"You have let me suffer all day" Sheldon exclaimed.

"You have let me suffer all day" Leonard repeated.

"I only just found out" Sheldon was already up out of his chair, he had grabbed his laptop and made himself comfortable in his spot, ready to YouTube the song as soon as Penny gave the information away. "It's fun watching him squirm a little" Penny whispered to Leonard.

"It's not fun when you work with him. Not fun at all"

"Sheldon, sweetie" Penny spun round on the stool to face him. "It's by the Beach Boys, it's called Darlin'" Sheldon's fingers we're tapping away at the keys before she had finished speaking. He clicked the first video that popped up and the song started to play. He thoughtfully listened to the lyrics and as if by magic everything clicked into place.

I was living like half a man,

Then I couldn't love

But now I can

More soul than I ever had,

I love the way you soften my life.

"This is about Amy. That's why it was in my head. This song, it's about Amy" it might have gone completely unnoticed to Leonard but Penny saw the light and excitement in Sheldon's eyes. It had been something that they hadn't seen over the last few weeks as he battled with the break up. Even if it was only for a short amount of time, it warmed Penny's heart to know how happy the sudden thought of Amy made him. "It's about how she made me a better person" he couldn't stop smiling.

"She did soften your life, didn't she?"

"Penny what do I do?" he suddenly asked as he slammed down the laptop screen and rose to his feet. "You're good at knowing what to do in these situations and I've never been in one like this before" he explained his heart was racing.

"Sweetie, what are you saying?"

"I need to get Amy back. I um.. I have to go" Penny smiled to herself, their little Sheldon was growing up. In the moment he followed his heart and knew exactly what to do. He was going to win back his Amy.

Amy stood in front of the mirror in her bedroom and smoothed down her dress. She stared at her reflection, her dark hair that skimmed past her shoulders curled slightly at the ends and a little more make up than she would normal wear made her look like someone she didn't even recognise.

With a defeated sigh, she sunk down on to her bed. Why was she doing this? Despite being a sweet guy, she had no interest in Dave, she had no interest in anyone aside from Sheldon. Was she only doing this to make him jealous? Would Sheldon ever even know about her date with Dave, would he be hurt by it? The last thing she ever wanted to do was hurt him, not again. This wasn't what she did. She really wasn't that kind of girl.

With a heavy heart she picked up the phone and called Dave, without really think about what she was saying, she found herself apologising profusely and revealed all about her feelings towards Sheldon. He listened carefully and offered advice, Amy was sure he was only being so understanding in the hope of eventually meeting Sheldon but as she ended the call he made no attempt to mention the famous Sheldon Cooper.

As the time ticked by she remained sitting on the end of her bed, contemplating the most mature way to handle everything with Sheldon. It was inevitable that they would see each other, that their paths would cross numerous times due to their circle of friends, it was unavoidable but Amy hoped in some way it was manageable and easy on everyone involved. She couldn't imagine how she would cope though, seeing the man she loved almost everyday, potentially watching him move on and know there was nothing she could do.

The rumbling of her stomach brought her back to the reality of the fact that she was starving and had hardly eaten all day. She decided to go and pick up some take out, concluding that the walk and fresh air would do her some good. She caught her reflection yet again and contemplated changing but who knew what would happen, maybe she would bump into the love of her life like in some Hollywood movie.

She locked the door to her apartment and headed down the hallway of her building however, as she turned the corner she collided into someone, bumping hard into their chest. She couldn't help but smile to herself, just a few moments ago she had thought about bumping into the love of her life and now here she was, surely it was incredibly coincidental.

"Sorry" she recognised the voice instantly and her head shot up. Before her stood Sheldon, she couldn't help but think the world moved in strange ways. Was he actually very much the love of her life? Was this her Hollywood movie?

"It's okay" she looked down at the ground, her cheeks blushing and heart racing at the thought of seeing him again. After how their phone call had ended, she didn't think she would see him for a while. It was only now that she had taken a few steps back that Sheldon could really see her, he noticed the slight curl to her hair and the bright red gloss that was painted on her lips.

"You look lovely" he commented. He made the assumption she was off on a date, he couldn't think of another event that she would get dressed up for.

"Thank you" she muttered shyly, glancing down at the floor again as she hooked her hair behind her ears. "I...um...I need to go" she spoke quickly, suddenly becoming aware of the situation, being around him seemed so hard. She really did love him so much.

"Amy, wait" Sheldon called after her, finally finding his voice and hoping to god Amy stopped to hear him out.

Amy sighed, slowly stopping by the elevator and turning found to face him. He looked nervous, his eyes deep and thoughtful as he tapped his foot nervously and somewhat irritatingly against the floorboards.

"I know you're on a date but..."

"I'm not on a date" Amy interrupted. She had to let him know that much at least.

"You're not" he looked her up and down again, questioning her attire with his eyes.

"I was but then I cancelled and...

"I don't care about that" he waved his hands around, dismissing the subject. "I want to be your boyfriend again Amy" he found it easier to blurt it all out quickly. If she said no this time, he wouldn't blame her but this would have to be it. He couldn't put himself through the heartache again, he didn't quite know how he would cope with it all a second time.

"What?" Amy stuttered, her eyes filled with tears instantly and Sheldon didn't quite know what this was telling him but even so he carried on.

"I love you Amy and I want us to be together again" he took a few steps forward, closing the gap between them until their bodies touched. He reached down for her hands, holding them in his own. A shock of electricity was sent through his body as he held her again, even though it was just a simple hold of her hand. He had missed this, they both had.

"I love you too" Amy beamed, her smile was so wide that it crinkled the corner of her eyes and caused a few of the tears that were resting there to trickle down her cheeks. "I want us to be together too" before she knew what was happening, Sheldon had wrapped his arms around her and placed his lips on hers.

It was common knowledge that Sheldon wasn't a very physical person, but right now he was holding and kissing her with so much passion. Passion she never really knew he felt for her, her heart was so full, they were both so happy and so in love.
