One week later.
'Did Aidan get away alright? Do you know when you'll hear from him?' Marie asks softly as she glances at Georgie who is gently pushing Frankie on the swing.
'Mmm... I'll never get used to saying goodbye to him which is stupid because I did it for years, didn't I? I was that person who went away and left all you behind. He said he'll call me when he gets a signal so hopefully some time tomorrow by the time they're settled in and that.' Georgie replies shrugging her shoulders.
'Do you miss it? Active duty I mean? Going out on missions and travelling the world?' Marie asks.
'I don't miss the unpredictability of it or how dangerous the missions could be but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't part of me that missed being with the guys. We had a laugh when things were good; we all went through a lot together.' Georgie admits and Marie nods her head.
'You guys are like a family, aren't you? I remember Frankie used to always call 2 Section his second family.' Marie replies and Georgie smiles.
'You can't see some of the stuff we've seen, you can't go through some of the stuff we went through together and not be close. For weeks and months at a time out there, they're all you have.' Georgie says.
'That's understandable, I guess... Frankie has always got a present from 2 Section on his birthday and at Christmas. It's the sweetest; I've been keeping all his cards and stuff from them and I'm going to make him a little scrapbook for when he's older.' Marie admits and Georgie smiles.
'That's a lovely idea. It'll be great for him to be able to look back on and just see how loved he's always been by so many people.' Georgie replies.
'Do you know twins run in Aidan's family?' Georgie says glancing at Marie who smiles.
'Oh, that could explain why you're feeling so shit. I mean I know I was sick and tired but nothing like you've experienced this week.' Marie replies and Georgie shakes her head.
'Don't say that. I don't think I'd cope with two.' Georgie says causing Marie to laugh.
'You'll be a great mum, Georgie. I've seen you with Frankie and whether you have one or two babies you'll be amazing.' Marie replies.
'Hopefully.' Georgie says quietly.
'You should stay here tonight. You've barely been able to keep any food down all day and I really don't like the thought of you being on your own in that flat.' Marie suggests.
'I'll be fine.' Georgie replies and Marie shakes her head.
'Please? Just while you're finding it hard to keep food and stuff down. I don't want you getting dehydrated while Aidan isn't here.' Marie says causing Georgie to sigh.
'Okay. I'll stay but only for tonight, yeah? I can't spend the next month here.' Georgie replies and Marie smiles.
'Thank you. I need to pop out to pick up some bits to start potty training him; do you wanna stay here or do you want to come with me?' Marie asks.
'I'll come with you. Where are you going?' Georgie asks.
'Probably just Boots.' Marie replies.
'Yeah, I've got some bits I want to pick up so I'll come with... I can't believe he's old enough that you're buying stuff to start potty training. I feel like it was just yesterday you brought him home from the hospital.' Georgie says and Marie nods her head.
'I know. It's crazy how quickly they grow up. Just you wait until it's your little one; you blink and suddenly they're running around.' Marie replies.
Taking a deep breath, Georgie makes her way down the hall toward Marie's bedroom. Quietly she opens the bedroom door and glances into the room where she sees Marie lying on her side, the light from her phone lighting up her face.
'Hey, you okay?' Marie asks using her arm to prop her head up so she can look at her sister.
'Mmm... This is going to sound so stupid but I just-' Georgie begins and Marie immediately shuffles over in bed and lifts the edge of the cover up.
'Come on, get yourself in.' Marie says causing Georgie to smile.
'Thank you.' Georgie replies quietly.
'I always found it hard to sleep when Frankie left and I hadn't seen the horrors that Afghan held so I can't even imagine how you feel.' Marie admits causing Georgie to sigh.
'I'm just so, so scared, Marie. I'm not strong like you, I can't raise this baby on my own like you have done with Doodles.' Georgie says biting her bottom lip as she climbs into bed beside her sister.
'You're not going to have to raise this baby on your own. In one month Aidan is going to be back home and you guys are going to start planning for the little one.' Marie says.
'He's stepping back from active duty. He doesn't want to go on missions anymore after this one.' Georgie almost whispers.
'Yeah? That's amazing, Georgie. That means you are going to have him home with you all the time and that's perfect. That's what you wanted, isn't it? Then you don't need to worry anymore when he leaves.' Marie says and Georgie nods her head.
'I know and I am so happy about that but I just- I can't shake this uneasy feeling.' Georgie replies.
'Your hormones will be making this all feel so much harder, Georgie. Try not to worry yourself too much. Aidan is going to be just fine and in one month he is going to be walking through the front door and you'll wonder why you were ever feeling like this.' Marie says moving some hair out of Georgie's face.
'Thank you, Marie.' Georgie replies and Marie shakes her head.
'You don't have to thank me. You know I'm always here for you, no matter what time it is. Now try get some sleep, Georgie.' Marie says smiling.
