(Peter's Point of View)
It had been a month since I lost my cool. It took a week alone to get back into my own mind, and then it took another two weeks to get my body back to normal. Then it took a week to get back into my regular routine. Though some things were different today, Hades told me to go to the beach Montauk in for something important.
I now stood in front of Poseidon, wary of what he was thinking and was going to do.
He spoke after several long, tense minutes, "I would like to hire you."
Of all the things that could have come out of his mouth, this was not in my top ten. It took a few moments to get my head back into the game. I slowly nodded my head and asked him, "What is the payment and what is the job?"
The sea god sighed softly and said, "I have a young son, about five years old…"
I gave a slow nod. I remembered that this should be Percy Jackson. I knew that if I befriended Percy now, I would have a very powerful alley later. That alone would be worth it. However, I still had to put on a front. I asked him, "Let me guess you want me to either protect him or you want me to lead him to Camp Half-Blood." I paused and asked, "What is the payment?"
Poseidon said calmly, "Yes, I want you to protect him. I want you to live with them… I know that money does not mean anything to you, so I will give you my full blessing."
My eyebrows shot up as my eyes widened, I wanted his blessing, but this, this was a lot to take in. I wanted to take it now, but I knew that, that was my Fatal Flaw speaking. I frowned and asked the middle eldest god, "What is the catch?"
Poseidon said firmly, "I want you to make sure that he lives until his sixteenth birthday."
I bit my lip and then said, "You do realize that I can't be there for him at all times…"
The old sea god replied to me and said, "I know, but I need you to do your best to protect him."
I frowned and then said, "I am too old right now. I think I am fourteen or fifteen now… so I am too old…"
Poseidon smirked and then said to me, "Now, that is something I can fix. Yes, I can fix your age to the right one. But the question is, will you accept the quest?"
I paused and thought about it for a good ten minutes weighing the pros and cons of it. I slowly nodded my head and asked him, "I do. However, I would like you to give me your blessing now so I can practice the powers, so I do not blow up the plumbing on accident."
Poseidon grinned brightly and nodded his head as he formed a ball of sea green light in his palm, and then he threw it at my chest.
The pain was bearable, but it did hurt a lot. It felt like my very soul was on fire. But luckily, it only lasted for a few moments.
The sea god looked impressed as he said to me, "Impressive, you did not make a sound. Now for my other gift…"
I arched an eyebrow and asked, "What is it?"
Poseidon smirked slightly and gave me a fancy looking bronze watch. It was a shield similar to what Tyson would have made for Percy, except it was much more robust and had a few enactments on it, it would self-repair, and it would always return to me. The second was a Trident. It was silver and bronze with fossilized clams on the tips and on the base. He said to me, "It was forged in Atlantis. I was going to give it to Percy, but you may need it for now, as his protector."
I smirked as I felt the weight of the trident. It was well balanced, and I could feel a lot of power coming from the trident. I felt a feeling in my gut and used it. I shot a stream of ice cold water directly at Poseidon.
Poseidon arched an eyebrow and then said, "Hmm, you seemed that you have better control over this than I would have thought…" He pushed the stream of water back at me. It hit me in the face, but I did not feel the cold. But instead, I felt refreshed, rejuvenated, so this must be what Percy felt like every time he doused himself in sea water.
I shrugged and said, "It feels similar to my other powers… I think I can do it now. It is easier than I thought to control… if I do not lose my temper."
He nodded his head and said, "Yes, the angrier you are, the more powerful you may become, and the more volatile your powers will be. Your abilities related to me, will have a small mind of its own."
I sighed and asked, "Care to explain?"
The Middle Child of the Big Three said to me, "Yes, I will this time. When you are angry or if your get emotional, you may subconsciously cause storms or earthquakes…"
I gave him a nod and then said, "Okay, that makes sense. When I get angry now, shadow tremble, and the dead stir, and if there is fire, it roars."
Poseidon sighed softly and then said, "Yes, now time for my other part."
I asked with a frown, "What do you mean?"
"Close your eyes, Peter." He said to me.
I sighed and closed my eyes, not liking it but knowing it is better to appease him.
Poseidon then did something, my body felt warm all over, and then I felt myself shrinking, growing smaller. He then said to me, "You may open your eyes now, Peter."
I slowly opened up my eyes and then looked around. Everything seemed larger. I frowned and asked him, "Did you just shrink me?"
He shook his head and then said, "No, I regressed your age so that you are a few months younger than Percy, my son."
