Chapter 4
Ash and Serena are walking in the forest as Ash continues to tell her about the journey in the Hoenn Region, he starts talking about how Team Rocket released an Arbok and Weezing in the forest because of Poachers, and how they capture a Cacnea and Seviper to chase them again.
Unknown to them, a girl is watching them leaving the forest, and she says to a call, "...This is the Petalburg recon team checking in. I'm afraid I have to begin with an apology, Mr. Matt... It's not good news... It's not good news... The mission is a no-go... A little something cropped up and got in the way... ...Roger that. ...Got it. Will do. I'll continue investigating that energy we detected."
After she ends the call, she says, "... ...Phew! But those kids sure had some promise as Trainers, I'd say." Then she decides to leave with a Whismur following her.
Once they get out of the forest, they are at the Northern Section of Route 104. Serena says, "I wonder when we will get to Rustboro City...I mean...we are still at Route 104..."
"Well, if I remember, it will be soon." Ash says as he spots Anthony's Gym in front of them. "See that gym over there? I remember it was owned by a man who said to have the strongest Pelipper." Ash says.
"How strong is it?" Serena asks, and Ash says, "It turns out that he puts all his Pokemon in its mouth to cheat its way through. Thanks to Team Rocket that the trick is exposed."
"Okay..." Serena says. "And what is that shop over there?"
"That's Pretty Petal flower shop. It is a flower shop." Ash says, "I remember my friend Brock captures a Lotad near this place."
"Can we take a look in the store?" Serena asks, and Ash smiles, "Anything for my girlfriend."
As they enter the store, they get to see a lot of flowers, and Ash even purchased some for his girlfriend, who decides to wear it as a flower crown on her hat. They also get a Wailmer Pail so that they can try growing berry trees when they see perfect soils.
After crossing the bridge and battling a lot of trainers, both Single Battles and Double Battles, Ash and Serena finally arrive at Rustboro City. Ash says, "This is Rustboro City, pretty cool, huh?"
"You bet." Serena says. "Compared to Littleroot Town, this place is big."
"And here is a Pokemon Gym, which I am going to enter." Ash says, and Serena says, "But I don't think I have seen any Contests around here..."
"Well, I think it is not the season yet. But I am pretty sure that it will be soon." Ash says.
They walk inside the city as they arrive at the Pokemon Trainer's School, Ash says, "This place is owned by the Gym Leader Roxanne, I remembered that I have come here once."
"Really?" Serena says, "I don't think you are the type of person who likes to study." Pikachu laughs at the comment, and Ash glares at him.
"And this is the gym." Ash says as he walks to a building beside the school. "Let's go in."
But as they got inside, they see a woman talking to the gym guide. Ash says, "Roxanne, it is good to see you."
Roxanne turns around and she notices Ash, she says, "Well if it isn't Ash Ketchum. How are you doing?"
"We are doing great." Ash says, "Serena, this is Roxanne, the Rustboro City Pokemon Gym Leader."
"It is nice to meet you." Serena says, and Roxanne says, "It is my pleasure. I became a Gym Leader so that I may apply in battle all that I've learned at the Pokemon Trainer's School."
She turns to Ash and asks, "So I assume that she is your girlfriend, Ash?"
Ash blushes and he says, "Of course she is my girlfriend. But let's not talk about it. I am here so that I can challenge the Hoenn League once again."
Roxanne says, "I see, you want to redo the Hoenn League, then it will be a pleasure to battle you again. The last time we have battled, a lot of my students really learn a lot."
"I am glad to hear that." Ash says. Serena looks around and she says, "Is this really a Gym? I feel like this is a Museum instead..."
"That's because I specialize in Rock Type Pokemon, so that I decide to decorate my gym with fossils and also mechanics like those Kabutops and Cradily structures."
"That's cool, I guess a lot of gyms in Hoenn have some mass construction, right?"
"That's right. Now let's go to the battlefield." Roxanne says as they get to the battlefield.
When they get to the battlefield, it is going to be a two on two battle. And because Ash has challenged the gym before, so Roxanne decides to use her powerful team. The first Pokemon she sends out is a Golem.
"A Golem..." Ash says. "Then I am going to choose Sceptile."
Ash sends out the Pokemon and it gives a nod. Roxanne says, "I see your Treecko has evolved back then, but it is not going to stop me."
"We'll see about that. Sceptile! Use Leaf Blade!" Sceptile charges forward and uses the glowing arms to slash at Golem, but Golem manages to dodge the attack with Rollout.
"Use Mega Punch!" Roxanne yells, as Golem gives a punch at Sceptile, causing it to fly into the air. Ash says, "Use the momentum and use X Scissor!"
Sceptile jumps down and slashes at Golem, giving it some damage, but Golem is still standing and Serena says, "Ash's Sceptile really is different from Sawyer's...and I feel that it is really cool..."
"Sceptile, use Leaf Storm!" The Pokemon creates a lot of leaves as it shoots at Golem, Roxanne has Golem dodges by using Gyro Ball, but just as it is about to hit Sceptile, it uses Leaf Blade once again to send it back down to the floor.
"Let's see if you can dodge it, Stone Edge!" Roxanne yells as Golem slams the floor, causing rocks to appear, Sceptile keeps jumping and jumping, until it gets hit as it falls to the ground hard.
"My Sceptile is not going to lose this easily." Ash says. "Use Power-Up Punch!"
Sceptile's fist glows as it punches at the Golem, causing it to get knocked out in the end.
"All right, that's a win for Ash!" Serena says with a smile as Pikachu also cheers for his trainer. Roxanne recalls her Pokemon and says, "You have really become stronger than before. But you are not the only one that has trained yourself."
"I know, but I will be glad to have a great battle." Ash says.
"Now here is my next Pokemon, go! Probopass!" Roxanne says as she sends out the second Pokemon. Ash says, "Probopass, huh?"
Serena looks at the Pokedex and says, "It freely controls three small units called Mini-Noses using a magnetic force...and it is Rock and Steel Type."
Ash recalls his Sceptile and says, "And I am going to have Gible for this battle."
As he sends out the Pokemon, Serena is shocked, "Using Gible to battle?"
"A Dragon Type Pokemon I see." Roxanne says, "I wonder how will this little guy do."
"Gible, use Dig!" As Gible digs underground, it pops out and gives damage to the Probopass. "Time for my favorite move, use Rock Tomb!"
Ash has Gible dodge the attack, but with Probopass controlling the rocks, it gives Gible a hard time dodging. Serena says, "It is just like Grant's Onix..."
"Gible, use Rock Smash!" Ash has Gible delivers the Super Effective attack, but Roxanne has set up a Lock-On with the Probopass.
"Lock-on is a move that ensures the next attack does not miss the target...Ash is in trouble if the attack works..." Serena says.
Pikachu also agrees as he is worried about his trainer. Roxanne says, "Now Flash Cannon!"
Gible can't dodge this attack as it is bumped down to the ground. Ash says, "Use Draco Meteor!"
Gible fires a meteor into the sky and it becomes a lot of spheres as it crashes on the field, one of them hits Probopass and Roxanne says, "Not bad, it can learn Draco Meteor, huh?"
"It originally had a hard time learning it, but eventually it can use it. Finish it with Iron Tail."
Gible jumps into the air and then it lands the attack on the Probopass, in the end, Probopass has fainted as Ash is the winner.
"You did it! Ash!" Serena cheers for Ash after he wins the battle. Ash says, "Yeah, I know."
Suddenly, Gible jumps onto Ash's head and gently bites it, causing Ash to laugh a little. Serena is a little terrified, but Ash tells her that she doesn't need to worry.
"I understand. The Pokémon League's rules state that Trainers receive this if they defeat a Gym Leader. Please accept the official Pokémon League Stone Badge." Roxanne gives him the badge, and Ash reaches the badge and says, "I got the Stone Badge."
Pikachu and Gible are cheering with Ash, and Roxanne says, "Since you are so strong, you should challenge other Gym Leaders, too. By battling many Trainers, you'll likely learn many things."
"I will. It is just like the old times." Ash says, and Serena asks Roxanne, "So Roxanne, did you have footage of Ash's first time battling in this gym?"
"Of course I still have it, do you want to see it?" Roxanne asks and the two of them nod.
After going into the Pokemon Trainers School, they see how Ash is using Treecko to battle Geodude, and Serena is surprised to see how Treecko was defeated by Geodude with the Mega Punch.
After seeing how Pikachu defeated Geodude, Serena says, "I thought that Geodude is immune to Electric Type moves, how did Thunder manage to defeat it?"
Roxanne says, "I admit, there is some water in the soft sand, which causes Geodude to soak wet at that time and that's how the Electric Type attack manages to go through it."
Ash says, "If I remember, this is also when Pikachu learns Iron Tail."
"You're right. And it still learns Iron Tail as well. Though Pikachu won't be able to use Thunder."
"Electro Ball is a good move in my opinion. The faster Pikachu is than the other Pokemon, the greater the move's power."
"That's true." Roxanne says. After they finish the video, Serena asks, "So which gym are you going to challenge next?"
Ash says, "That will be crossing the ocean to Dewford Town. It will be great to see Brawly once again."
"Brawly, huh? From what I heard, he has been training with the Kanto Elite 4 member, Burno for a while, so he has become stronger. But judging by how you can beat me, I am sure that you will be able to defeat him without problem."
"I hope." Ash says as both he and Serena decide to bid farewell to the gym leader as they leave the Pokemon Trainer's School.
Here is a new chapter of the story, and for Ash's Gym Battles in the Hoenn Region, I decide to continue using the team from Alpha Sapphire, but the Pokemon will be in the final stage and some of them will be changed as well. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter will be greeting Mr. Stone from the Devon Corporation, and Mr. Brinley the sailor and his Peeko.
