Summary of chapter 3: America passed out, and might need neurosurgery

(1 month after the surgery)

America's pov:

After the surgery, I'm always bothered by headaches, but not just the kind that goes away after a while. It stays for 30 min or for the rest of the day. It's the worst. But hey, at least i'm starting to walk again! I try to make it positive, but no, it is absolutely horrible. I get headaches when I stand, and my head spins. I'm getting better though. Maxon comes every once in a while, and insists on staying with me, which is nice. I'm guessing that he broke it off with Laura, but once a man cheats, he never stops. I'm still not able to forgive Maxon, I'll never be able to, but I'll have to keep this a secret a little while longer.

"America, I have to go to a meeting."

"But can't you stay a little while longer?"

"We're at Clermont, i have to get to Angeles, so i have to go."

That's what he and I say every day, and how it ends. Doctors circle around me, giving me unwanted attention, while Maxon gives me none of my wanted attention. But that's not how today was going to end.

"Are you going to see that girl again?" he freezes. "Laura. The queen of New Asia, and my maid.'' I say 'queen' mockingly.

"What?" he replies, seeming collected, but i know he's panicking inside.

"Are you going out to cheat on me again." I say my voice rising, with the obvious hurt, and anger in my voice.

He's panicking, and I'm upset. He just acts dumb and heads out, needing to collect his thoughts. I act before I

think. I rip the IV from my arm, and walk over to the phone, and call The only friend who can help me now. "Hey,

get ready to smuggle me out of the hospital. I'll be at the back of the building at 8:00 PM."
