I followed Latios into the forest for what seemed like hours, but only really was 10 minutes. Throughout this time it was just silence. I like silence, it gives me time to think. Latios on the other hand doesn't like silence at all. He is usually the one that starts a conversation, whether its meaningless or adds to the situation. "Do .. You want to know what berries we will be picking?", Latios asked. "Okay" I wonder what he's going to trail this conversation off to again. "So ideally we'd want two main types, Leppa berries and Oran berries", Latios informed. "What do these two berries do specifically?", I asked. "Leppa berries give you energy and Oran helps you heal from wounds" I nodded "Good to know, Thanks Lati", I thanked. Latios's stomach grumbled "Both'll fill our stomachs", He added. ' This guy's good, heh ' I thought.
After we travelled sufficiently far inland, Latios stopped and looked around for some berries. "Oh, I found one. Come here- This is what one looks like", Latios said gesturing me to come towards him. "Whats that one", I asked. "Its a Leppa berry, their skin is tough so its unlikely that its bad on the inside", Latios told me as he picked it and used his sharp claws to make an incision on the outer shell. He held it up to his nose and sniffed it. His ruby red eyes looked over at me "Mmmm, Bon Appétit!" he bit into it and it looked like he liked the taste. "Hey! These are really good! They're a bit unripe so they might be a little bitter", He commented while holding the half bitten berry to me. "I am not eating that", I flatly replied. "Why?" "Its unsanitary" "What do you mean!We're out here in the middle of Sinnoh and you're complaining about that?" "Yes, I am. Do you have a problem?", I said ridiculously. "Yeah- I do, sharing is caring", Latios replied matter-of-a-factly. "Just eat all of that, cut another one, and give it to me- Thats sharing the sanitary way", I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Hmmph! Fine, I was only trying to be nice" He puffed his cheeks out and grumbled while picking another berry I hadn't seen yet. "Here, this is a Oran berry", He handed a blue berry to me. "This berry better'd not make me sick- you read?", I said seriously. "I read-", He said in a tiny voice. I bit into it and it tasted like .. It tasted like a blueberry, just the size of an apple. "Dis ish prutty deecent", I said while munching my food. Latios looked at me and giggled while holding his paws up covering his face but exposing his eyes.
When I finished the berry I felt refreshed. True to Latios's word; An ache that I had developed in my knee swept away and it felt better walking but my leg was still tired. I asked him for a Leppa berry and ate. Once again- Latios's words sang true and I was relieved of my drowsiness. Latios hadn't slept for half a day and it was already dawn of the next day. "Hey, we should stockpile on berries", I said "Already on it!", Latios called out from in a bush. "You know, Lati. We make a good team- don't we? Sure we quarrel over dumb things like sanitation but I digress .. Im glad I came to my senses and helped you, Latios", I said thoughtfully. "We're a good team, We'll be a better coup-", Latios ended his sentence abruptly and I swore I saw steam rising from the bush he was in. "Did something happen?", I asked. "Nononono- haha. I just um- found something interesting", He replied from in the bush. "A steam engine?", I said elatedly ' Civilisation! ' "No-Nope" "But I saw steam-" "Trick of the mind-" "Fine I'm heading over!", I said with a slight frown. I practically tore the bush apart and walked on through standing next to Latios. He was staring at a new berry. "Whats that?" "A sign" "O-K? For what?" Latios just kept on staring at the berry unflinching. I looked at him imploringly "What does this berry mean?"
"We're not where I thought we were"
"Sitrus doesn't belong in Sinnoh"
"So that berry is a Sitrus berry?"
"Exactly, this doesn't make sense"
Where are we? For all I knew Latios didn't know where we could be now. We could be ages away from civilisation. Our eyes locked and I looked at him looking dumbfound. The same question kept replaying in my head. ' Where are we? ' Latios looked away- his cheeks quite red now. I was in a trance still. Why was his cheeks red- maybe thats a sign. For what though? Red: Blood, Violence, Hate, Death? A little voice in my head told me it might be love- No, thats impossible. I felt lightheaded and the vision of the world rolled up, I think I blacked out.
Latios and Vytas are dumbfounded and acknowledge that the place they're in isn't Sinnoh. What does this mean for them? How will they find their way back to civilisation?
