Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm so sorry it's taken this chapter a few days longer than usual to come out! See, this story idea has been rapidly evolving since the first chapter and my first concept, so I had to go back and rewrite so many scenarios and events that the entire plot has been thrown for a loop! I hope you can forgive the wait and enjoy this chapter! Today we're adapting "Thomas' Train". "Thomas and the Trucks" and "Thomas and the Breakdown Train" will be adapted next chapter, it proved to be a bit too much for me to handle in one go, sorry about that. (^_^;) The beginning of "Thomas and the Trucks" will be at the end of this chapter. Once these are finished, the first arc of Series 1, which I've dubbed "Thomas Comes to Town" will be completed!
Thomas will probably not be your favorite in this chapter… He's extremely moody in this one and is still very upset about a lot of things that have begun to crop up in his mind about Sodor. But don't worry, he's not going to be whining the entire time. He soon gets into a better mood. :) Have fun reading!

Sodor Bladers
S1 E2 – Thomas the Blue Blader (Part 2)
Narrator: "When Thomas awoke the next day, he still felt sore from when Gordon dragged him around the Bladeway. It took him all day to feel less dizzy, and all night to feel less stiff and ill. Edward would watch over him when he had the time, and treated him warmly, but when it came to Gordon, he scolded him severely."
Edward and Gordon were outside the Living Quarters. Gordon was putting on his roller blades while Edward stood in front of him, looking down at Gordon who was sitting on some steps.
Edward: "Gordon, what in your mind made you believe that pulling Thomas around was a good idea?! He's not used to any of this yet and he's stilling aching from what happened!"
Gordon scoffed: "Thomas needed to learn a lesson to never wake me up during a nap! Could you imagine what would happen if he woke me up again and I was too tired to pull the express? An accident! A delay! He wasn't going to understand unless he experienced my job firsthand!"
Edward scowled: "At least apologize for what you did, and help make him feel better. He's absolutely crabby this morning and doesn't even want to get up for his work today."
Gordon: "You think of something to get him up then, Edward. I have no time to waste on him, I have work to do!"
Gordon stepped off the steps and rolled away to the yard to prepare for his job. Edward sighed and went back inside to check on Thomas, trying to think of something that would get him up and out of bed. Thomas was lying down on his back with his head in his hands, he groaned as he rubbed his aching forehead, and he refused to move even an inch.
Edward: "Come on, Thomas. You can't lie in bed all day. You still have lots of work to do."
Thomas crossly: "You think I'll be able to do all my work feeling like this?"
Edward: "You don't need to overwork yourself, Thomas. Just do something so that Sir Topham Hatt doesn't think you're slacking off. He understands your situation, but he still wants you to complete work whenever you can."
Thomas glares at Edward
Thomas: "Tch. Fine. But if I pass out from my splitting headache and numb limbs, I'm blaming both you AND Gordon."
Narrator: Edward watched as Thomas got up, stretched about, and went to put on his work clothes. He didn't look happy at all, and Edward knew that once the week was over, he would be sure Thomas would get all the proper rest he needed. Thomas muttered as he left the room and went to the yard, waiting for the workmen to give him his jobs for today.
Thomas: "I know what I did was probably rude, but Gordon still hasn't apologized for he's done… when he apologizes, THEN I will too."
At the yard, Thomas is sitting by some picnic tables putting on his roller blades. A workman came by and Thomas pondered.
Thomas: "Right, what is it today Cecil?"
Worker 1/Cecil: "Well, Sir Topham Hatt heard about what happened with you and Gordon yesterday so he's keeping you on shunting duty all day. Edward will get Gordon his coaches for the rest of the week, and you can stay here and take a rest whenever you need to."
Narrator: Thomas was shocked
Thomas: "What!? Why do I have to stay in the yard!? Why doesn't Sir Topham Hatt take the express away from Gordon!? Someone else can pull it, right?"
The workers sighed
Worker 1: "Thomas, if you were anywhere else, you're condition might cause problems. I thought you didn't even want to work today, now you're upset you've not been given more?"
Thomas: "Well, now I do! Why should I be the only one to do less work, and the work I don't want to do? Gordon should get that treatment too! I'll take all the breaks I need and still get all my work done, just to get back out there and-"
Worker 1 rolled his eyes: "Yeah, yeah, just get to work. Once this week is over and Sir Topham Hatt deems you well enough, you'll be back to bringing coaches and doing your usual work anyway."
Thomas' Train –
Narrator: "The week had passed by quickly. Thomas continued to rest, and when they had breaks, Edward was extra careful about telling the other workers not to disturb him. A couple of more days had passed, and a now completely okay Thomas was busy shunting trucks in the yard. However, he had begun to become upset at something else:"
Thomas: "It's not fair…"
Narrator: "He grumbled as he forcefully pushed the trucks around, he had been thinking about everything that had happened since he'd arrived on Sodor, and all the things he still didn't quite like or understand."
Thomas: "First, my engine is stuffed up in a shed where I can't use it at all, Gordon drags me halfway across town giving me a splitting head and body-ache, and even after an entire week has passed I'm STILL doing the same old training and shunting work! I can't even venture out too far from the stations. I want to see the world, pull trains like everyone else!"
Thomas violently shoves a truck into a corner.
Thomas: "And even worse, I STILL don't know why we even HAVE to pull the trains ourselves in the first place!"
Thomas continued to shunt trucks until he saw two workers far off to another siding, next to two cranes. Curious, he went over and decided to wake them up with his whistle.
Thomas, annoyed: "Uh, hello? Shouldn't you two be doing something?"
Narrator: "Just then, the two workers woke up in a way that incredibly startled Thomas."
?: "Judy!?"
?: "Jerome!?"
Judy/Jerome: "IT'S AN EMERGENCY!"
Jerome: "Where's the accident!?"
Judy: "Is it a fire? A flood?"
Jerome: "A crash!? A bridgeout!?"
Judy and Jerome turned to Thomas frantically
Jerome/Judy: "WHAT HAS GONE WRONG!?"
Narrator: "Thomas was shocked, and realized he shouldn't have been so invasive. He frantically pulled himself together, so he wouldn't be moody and make a bad first impression."
Thomas: "I- uh- nonono! Nothing! Nothing! I was just- wondering, where you two are supposed to be working, that's all. My mistake!"
Clarabel calls Thomas over to their coaches after witnessing what happened.
Clarabel: "Thomas, over here!"
Thomas: "Oh, sorry, they're calling me over. Sorry to disturb you!"
Jerome and Judy mumble and murmur amongst themselves until they soon fall back asleep. Thomas made his way over to Annie and Clarabel, who explained to him who exactly the two people he met were.
Clarabel: "You mustn't disturb those two workers!"
Thomas: "Why? What do they do?"
Annie: "Those two drive the breakdown train. The only still active machinery on this Bladeway."
Clarabel: "But, as you can tell, it's barely ever used, and Judy and Jerome, siblings, often sleep during work and don't do much."
Annie: "Still, they must always come into work in case of a really bad emergency. That's why you shouldn't disturb them. It's emergencies only for those two."
Narrator: "Thomas sighed. Suddenly, all the anger he had felt throughout the day had been turned into a feeling of longing and reminiscence."
Thomas: "Oh, I see. I would do anything to work with my engine again… those two are lucky."
Clarabel chuckled: "Nevermind that, Thomas. You can still do much work for the Bladeway with or without your engine!"
Thomas smiled: "Thanks, Clarabel, I think I'll try to be in a better mood today. I can't do my work and do it well when I'm sulking about. I'll do my best."
Annie: "Right. Even if you haven't felt the best recently, you'll soon be happy here and really useful."
Just then, James pulls into the yard with a screeching stop, with goods trucks and other cars.
James: Indeed! And being really useful includes taking my goods and providing me with my coaches! Which, as you can see, I am ready for!"
Annie: "Oh, James! What do we keep on telling you about stopping your brakes like that! You're too rough!"
Clarabel: "Not to mention your, frankly unneeded this early in the morning, dramatics."
James: "Maybe I am a little dramatic and a little rough, but I have to brake that way if I want to stop as soon as I can!"
Clarabel whispers to Thomas: "It's because of those wooden brakes, no doubt. We keep telling him to get rid of them, but he won't!"
Thomas doesn't pay attention to what Clarabel is saying, instead he is distracted by a smell in the air.
Thomas: "Does anyone else smell… burning?"
James sputtered: "Aha- well- hm! My coaches, Thomas… my coaches!"
James drove his blades into the floor, hoping he would disperse the smell of charred wood from the yard. Thomas shrugged James' behavior off, brought him his coaches and focused on working and bringing up his mood for the rest of the day.
Narrator: "The next day, after everyone else went to work, Thomas stayed behind because he noticed Henry wasn't looking the best."
Thomas: "Good morning, Henry. Is something wrong? You were coughing again last night, and this morning, you look a little…"
Henry was a little frantic: "I think there's something wrong with me, Thomas. Ever since the tunnel incident I just- I've felt so- I don't know- I don't think I'll be able to pull my train today."
Thomas: "Woah, woah, hey! Calm down, Henry. I'm sure whatever it is, it'll go away shortly like it always has. I'll go fetch your coaches, and wait for you by the station."
Henry sighed: "Sure…"
Thomas chuckled: "And here I thought I was being dramatic about my own incident."
Henry: "It's not funny Thomas! If this keeps up, I could be out of a job!"
Thomas: "Isn't there always your engine as a last resort?"
Henry: "I don't think Sir Topham Hatt would allow that Thomas…"
Henry looks insulted and pouts as Thomas exits the Living Quarters. While Thomas hoped Henry would get better, he also knew that if Henry wasn't able to pull his train, he would have a chance to do it for him, and that made him excited. He happily brought Henry's coaches, out of the yard, and Edward, who was already there took notice.
Edward: "I'm glad to finally see you look happy again, Thomas! What's happened?"
Thomas: "If Henry is unable to pull his train today, I might be able to!"
Edward pondered: "Remember, Thomas. Pulling a train is hard work, it's not as easy as we make it look!"
Thomas: "Yeah, yeah, but after all your training with me I think I could handle it!"
Edward raised his eyebrow: "Even at high speeds?"
Thomas gasped, but then laughed: "Only the ones I can control!"
As Thomas left to bring Henry's coaches to the yard, Edward stood there wondering something.
Edward: "Is there something I'm forgetting to tell him..? I can't shake off the feeling that I do…"
Narrator: "Thomas waited and waited for Henry, but he didn't arrive. The Fat Controller was pacing on the platform in aggravation while Thomas, Albert, and The Fat Controller's helper watched."
STH: "Oh, bother that Henry, no matter what he always gives me trouble."
Albert, defensively: "Oh, come on, sir. You know he hasn't exactly been feeling his best."
STH sighs and turns to his helper.
STH: "We'll need to find another blader to take his place."
STH's Helper: "There's only… Thomas, sir."
The helper motioned to Thomas, who was smiling larger than he ever had before. STH sighed.
STH: "You'll have to pull Henry's train today, Thomas. Be patient and wait until everything is ready."
Thomas: "Oh, yes sir I will!"
Albert: "Are you sure about this, sir? He's still…"
STH: "We can't wait for Henry any longer."
Narrator: "But Thomas was too excited to really do so. While all of the coaches were being coupled up to Thomas, he heard the sound of a whistle and went off prematurely, giving him a mouthful of dirt."
Thomas sputtered and spat: "Oh dear- ptuh! Ugh… gross…"
Albert facepalmed.
STH narrowed his eyes: "Thomas…"
Thomas: "R-right, sir… Sorry sir…"
Albert: "Remember, Thomas. WAIT."
Thomas: "Got it, got it…"
The workers were able to couple the coaches up to Thomas, and he waited for the next whistle to sound. He started up, and the coaches went forward. But unbeknownst to Thomas, when he took his fall, one of his coupling rods was loosened.
Thomas cheered: "I'm doing it! I'm doing it! I'm pulling a train! Haha!"
Albert groaned: "Newbies…"
Albert took a look at Thomas, and noticed a rattling a sound. He turned his attention to where it was coming from, which just so happened to be Thomas' chain that connected him to the coaches. Albert noticed how loose the chain was becoming, and tried to warn Thomas.
Albert: "HEY! Thomas! Your chain is loose!"
The wind rushing through the air as Thomas sped down the line made it hard for Thomas to see and hear, but he still tried to listen.
Thomas: "I need to give this train a speed boost!? You got it!"
Albert: "No! Your- gah!"
Thomas went faster, and his chain broke away from the coaches, sending them rocking back and forth leaving them stranded on the line. Thomas thought he was going faster because of how strong he was, he was completely unaware that anything wrong had even happened.
Narrator: "Thomas continued down the line with the biggest smile on his face in days, when people tried telling him he wasn't pulling a train, he confused it for them waving to him and he simply blew his whistle and waved back. Even James tried to warn him about his problem! He had only stopped when he came across a red signal. The signalman came out of their building."
Signalman: "Thomas? What are you doing here?"
Thomas beamed: "Pulling a passenger train, of course!" Can't you see?"
The Signalman looked confused
Signalman: "No, I can't see. You're not pulling any coaches and your chain seems to be dented!"
Thomas: "Oh, ok."
Thomas: "WHAT!? Why didn't anybody tell me?"
Narrator: "Turns out the signalman was in the group of people that tried to stop Thomas before!"
Signalman: "We DID, Thomas! But you were going so fast you couldn't hear us. Didn't you turn on your hearing aid?"
Thomas looked puzzled: "Hearing aid? I don't wear hearing aids."
Signalman: "That's not what I mean, Thomas. See, in order for you bladers to hear others while on the line, Sir Topham Hatt bought specialized hearing aids that decrease the sounds of sharp winds and can increase the sound of voices. He understands that going fast can cause impairments in hearing, so he requires every worker to have them when they're pulling a train."
Narrator: "Thomas was shocked! He had never heard about this before, not even from Edward. He felt terrible, but he also knew he would ask Sir Topham Hatt about getting one of those hearing aids."
Thomas frowned: "Where did I leave them..?"
Signalman: "Somewhere close to where you started. I imagine you should be getting back to them now."
Thomas nodded: "Thank you, sir. I'll be off then."
Narrator: "Thomas was terrified of the amount of reprimands he would get from everyone, he was worried about what would happen when news of this incident got out to the other workers, but worst of all, he was saddened at how he had probably disappointed Sir Topham Hatt, and he would never let him out of the yard again after this."
Thomas: "I've been acting silly all week… maybe this is what I deserved…"
When Thomas got back to the coaches, Albert was trying to calm down angry passengers who were saying what a bad railway this was. Sir Topham Hatt had also been called down to keep them from overwhelming Albert. When everyone saw Thomas, they gave him quite a glare. And Thomas wilted in response, but he spoke.
Thomas: "I suppose… you weren't telling me to go faster Albert."
Thomas lifted up the dented part of his chain and sighed
Thomas: "I'm so sorry… I really am. Honestly! I really couldn't hear you well…"
The passengers went silent as they stopped and considered Thomas' apology
STH: "Oh, dear. So this is what happened… it must have occurred when you first pulled away from the train back at the station! We'll have to get it fixed."
Albert: "Why weren't you able to hear me? Didn't anybody tell you about-"
Thomas: "Hearing aids, yes, got it. The signalman told me."
STH/Albert: "Signalman?"
Albert: "Didn't any of the other bladers tell you about it? Edward? That seems like a big oversight."
Thomas: "I guess since I haven't actually finished my training or pulled a train outside before, they weren't going to tell me until I was ready…"
Sir Topham Hatt hummed and Albert scoffed.
Albert: "Newbies…"
STH: "I apologize for the confusion, Thomas. We don't have time to get you properly tested for a hearing aid, but we DO have time to get you a spare chain so you can pull these passengers. Albert, would you be willing to give Thomas another chance?"
Albert: "Thomas. Do you regret what happened?"
Thomas: "Yes, I do!"
Albert: "And will you do anything to make it right?"
Thomas: "Yes, of course! Even if it means I have to go as slow as a snail to ensure nothing goes wrong I'll do it! Just say what!"
Albert nodded, and he turned to the passengers.
Albert: "What say you all?"
The passengers muttered and murmured amongst themselves, it took a bit of time, but ultimately they came to an agreement to let Thomas try again.
Thomas smiled: "Thank you very much! I promise I'll make it up to you!"
STH retrieved a spare chain for Thomas, did thorough checks and preparations, and soon they were off. The ride went by without a hitch, and when Thomas let the passengers off he said one last apology. The passengers said that all was well.
Narrator: "When the other bladers heard about this the night of, they couldn't stop laughing. Well, everyone except Edward. Even Henry found what happened a little funny. Thomas sat embarrassed."
Gordon: "Hoh! Oh, little Thomas! We should have you work outside the yard more often! You sure do make way for some entertainment in this place!"
Henry smiled: "Thank you for at least getting my passengers to where they need to go."
James' cheeks were red with laughter he couldn't contain, and even Henry thought he was a little funny. Edward looked at Thomas with sympathy.
Edward: "I'm sorry for not telling you about our usage of hearing aids, Thomas. I knew I had forgotten something…"
Thomas: "It's okay, Edward. I should've listened to you about being more patient anyway. If I had just waited, my chain wouldn't have been dented."
Edward smiled
Thomas: "But… I'm not sure Sir Topham Hatt will ever let me out to pull trains anytime soon… I'm practically a disgrace with how I acted. But I don't want to just be stuck in here forever, I'll make as many mistakes as I can and learn as much too, so I can-"
Gordon/James laughed: "SEE THE WORLD!"
Henry rolled his eyes: "Don't we know it!"
As Gordon, Henry and James were laughing, Edward felt bad for Thomas.
Edward: "If you really wish to go out, Thomas, you can take my goods train tomorrow. I can take over your work in the yard if that's what you'd like.'
Thomas: "You'd do that? For me?"
Edward smiled: "Yes, I would. I suggest we get to sleep now though, Thomas."
Thomas was excited
Thomas whispered: "Oh, Edward. I wish it was morning already."
Edward chuckled softly and soon all the bladers fell asleep. When they awoke the next morning, Edward made sure to warn Thomas about everything pulling trucks had to offer.
Edward: "Now, Thomas. You have to be extra careful when handling goods. They are heavy and require you use a lot of your strength to pull them. You must also watch out with how you treat the trucks! Too much biffing and bashing can damage them and the goods, and your trucker won't be happy about that at all."
Thomas: "Trucker?"
Edward: "Each of us has a trucker or two assigned to us to make sure we're doing okay on our runs. They're like our coachers except they can get rather moody. They deal with a lot of dirty work, and don't really appreciate it when we're rough with their trucks."
Thomas: "Is that all? Moody workers don't seem like a lot to worry about."
Edward was stern: "Thomas…"
Thomas: "Alright, alright, fine. But what can a little temperamental worker do?"
Edward sighed: "Too much, Thomas. Way too much…"
Thomas went to find Edward's trucks. When he found them, he was greeted rather rudely by who he assumed to be Edward's trucker, he was a rather tall and burly man with dark brown hair and green eyes. He wore a casual suit with long shorts. His name was Chester and he spoke with an accent different from everyone else. There was also another, slightly skinny and shorter worker with chestnut hair and hazel eyes. He wore a t-shirt with long bulky pants and muddy boots, and his hair was slightly messy. His name was Tobias, he doesn't talk much. They frowned as Thomas walked up.
Chester rudely: "And just hew are yew?"
Thomas: "I'm… Thomas. Edward's letting me pull his goods train today!"
Chester considered: "Iz he now?"
Thomas frowned: "Yes. He is."
Chester: "And Ai'm suppoozin' yew think yew can bous us around?"
Thomas: "I mean, as the one who does most of the work and as you two need to do what you need to do to keep ME in good condition, I'd say yes."
Chester: "Ouh, REALLY?"
Tobias looked shocked
Thomas: "YEAH. REALLY. So LOAD the goods and let me get GOING!"
Chester grumbled: "Foine! LET'S."
Narrator: "Thomas grumbled and mumbled as he waited for Chester to load his trucks, and he was so upset when he had started, he hadn't noticed that Chester and Tobias had loaded the trucks so the heaviest load was at the front, directly behind Thomas. Trouble was coming, and Chester and Tobias chuckled mischievously."
And that's the end of part 2 everyone! I hope you enjoyed this literal ride of a chapter, and until next time where the ride gets even wilder! I hope you enjoyed this installment of Sodor Bladers, and hope you're looking forward to next chapter! Because… in that one, things get a bit more interesting. And after Thomas the Tank Engine is adapted, we'll be getting a few more of my original stories as well. Also, if you're wondering what accent Chester is supposed to have I honestly have zero idea. If anyone can help me pinpoint the accents I wrote that'd be very helpful.
Thank you for reading!
