Hey there here I bring you a request I got from a guest. I'm sorry it took me a lot of time to get this done, but here it is, and I hope you'll all enjoy it :)

83. "Another sleepless night, huh?"

Lawrence rolled on his bed with a soft moan. He smiled stretching out his arm with the idea of hug his wife. But he was surprised when all what he reached was an empty space instead of his lovely Linda.

Slowly, the man opened his eyes and saw how effectively, his wife wasn't there. He sighed closing his eyes and shook his head.

"Here we go again…"

With a tired sigh, Lawrence stood up and took his dressing gown. He had an idea of where his wife was. Walking slowly, letting his eyes to adapt to the darkness, Lawrence walked out of his room and through the corridor direct to the stairs. He walked down and walked directly to the living room. There he found her.

Linda was standing – covered with her own dressing gown – next to the transparent sliding door that allowed to go to the garden. She was looking at the tree they had there with a sad expression.

"Poor Linda…"

Lawrence approached to his wife and kindly put a hand on her shoulder to let her know he was there, at her side, as he would always be.

"Another sleepless night, huh?"

Linda didn't look at him, her eyes kept looking the empty garden with a terrible sad expression.

"I miss them Lawrence…"

The man looked at his wife with a sad expression. He knew it was that. Since Candace, Phineas and Ferb… well, it had been hard for Linda this big change in their lives.

"I know Honey. But… we knew this would happen… someday."

Linda shook her head. She knew what her husband said was true, but still… it was too much painful… it felt like a thorn digging into her heart.

"It happened to much fast. I wish they would be still here." Linda muttered with tears in her eyes. Just seeing this picture, instantly Lawrence hurried to hug his wife. He felt this is what most she needed right now.

"Yes Linda, me too… but our kids grow up… they have all their own families now…" Lawrence paused "Candace with Jeremy, and she's pregnant of her first child. Do you remember what names had she chosen for them?"

Linda let out a soft laugh remembering how her oldest daughter always talked about the names she would put to her children.

"Yes… Xavier if she had a boy or Amanda if she had a girl."

Lawrence smiled at his wife. It seemed his words to her were working, but he also knew it wasn't enough, he must continue talking to her in order to cheer her up. That's what husbands are there for – among a lot of other things of course.

"Yes, and soon she'll find out if our first grandchildren will be a boy or a girl."

Linda closed her eyes and let her husband to embrace her. She felt safe and sound with him… Linda thought on what her husband had just told her.

"Our first grandchildren…" she said almost in a whisper "Oh Lawrence, it seems it was yesterday when she called me every day, telling all the crazy things Phineas and Ferb apparently always build. She was just a teen trying to get her brothers busted."

Lawrence smiled slightly. He remembered that, and he also remembered to have seen some of those… 'crazy things' his sons did. But he honestly thought it wasn't something bad, quite opposite, Phineas and Ferb had an incredible imagination, like when they turned their family car into a Monster track to help Candace to learn to drive. They did it to help their sister. And candace… Lawrence had been always amused how his daughter was able to talk hours and hours, how could she always have the energy to literally took Linda from wherever she was and take her back home just to 'show her what Phineas and Ferb had done.

"Yes, she had always been a very energic girl, and now… she's going to be mom!" Lawrence sounded genuinely proud of Candace. Ans so he was with his two boys "And what to say about Phineas and Ferb? Oh Phineas… it took him a lot of time, but he finally realized Isabella was in love of him and he also was in love with her, and now they both are just married couple."

"Yes… Phineas has a strong imagination, but it seems sometimes it's hard from him to realize the most evident things." Agreed Linda with a soft smile in her face.

"And what to say of Ferb? He's like my father." Lawrence was giggling while he said that.

"What do you mean?" Linda separated from her husband and looked at him with an amused expression. She sounded genuinely confused, and Lawrence couldn't blame her. He cleared his throat.

"Oh, you know, my father didn't care to wait – even if that meant to wait almost an eternity – to know the perfect girl who will be his wife." He paused "Ferb is like him. He doesn't care if he lives alone waiting for the one he'll marry with,"

"But… to live alone… it would have been better for him to live here with us." Tried to reason Linda. It was better to live in company of those you love than live completely alone "Who knows what is he doing living on his own?"

"Linda… you know Ferb has always been a very independent person." Explained the man with glasses. "He decided to leave so we could have our privacy. Also, he wanted to learn to solve his own issues, even if I'm pretty sure he already knows how to solve them."

Linda's sad expression came back, as she looked again to the empty garden where her kids along with their friend played so many times. It was hard to see now this garden every day and see there was no kid there playing. Linda sniffed. She knew what her husband was saying was true, but it didn't make it less painful. To have three extraordinary children living with them, and now… they had none left. They were… alone.

"Honey… I know it's hard to live alone after years of having lived all together," said Lawrence with the kindest voice he could put "but… things aren't the same forever. Also… you know… our kids promised to visit us whenever they could." He smiled at his wife to prove this was a reason for hope and to try to be happy "Give them a chance to do it, they'll come, you'll see."

"I hope you're right." Said Linda sniffing again. Lawrence could do nothing else than hug his wife one more time.

"Of course, I am! Our kids won't abandon us." He kissed her on her forehead. "I think it's time to go to bed. You'll see how tomorrow you'll see things in a different way."

"Yes… let's come back to sleep."

Linda nodded and both headed to their room. Again, on their bed, Linda looked at her husband with a kind smile. He had his eyes closed and couldn't see she was watching at him.

"Lawrence?"

"Yes, Honey?" Lawrence opened his eyes and looked at his wife.

"Thank you."

Lawrence smiled kindly at her

"You're welcome Linda, you can always count on me."
