The Daily Planet

"It's been a week people!" The loud voice of Editor Lavender rang out in the offices of the Daily Planet. "And no one has anything on this Superwoman?!" She slammed down various newspapers she had bought from other outlets, some were from even different kingdoms! "This woman has been going around, being spotted all across Vale and beyond. This is the biggest story of the century, and I don't want gossip, I want hard facts about our guest. Where is she from? Who is she? What does she want? I want the truth, now get to it!" Lisa Lavender stormed back into her office, and when she was alone she began massaging her temples. "Just who are you Superwoman?" Lisa Lavender stared at one of the few pictures that had been taken of the mysterious woman who had caught a big green bulkhead.

Patch

"They've started calling me Superwoman… And I am not really sure what to think." Ruby admitted to her dad, having decided to visit him. She was only a part-time intern at Star Labs, they couldn't afford to pay her full time.

"Well, it's certainly a catchy name, very super." Tai joked as he put the newspaper down. "I am surprised though. I thought you wanted to keep this whole thing secret." He crossed his arms with a raised eyebrow.

"… I tried that. But when that robbery happened. I knew I couldn't just go in there, all blurry and use heat vision. The dust would have had a chain reaction. And I just… knew I had to do something. The next thing I know, one thing just led to another. I just wanted to help." Ruby said with a guilty expression.

"I am not upset at that Ruby. Just saying I am surprised. Still, what are you going to do now?" Taiyang asked his daughter.

"Well… They keep asking me questions. And I am not sure what I am supposed to say." Ruby sighed. "I didn't ever think I would have this much attention. It's nerve-wracking." Ruby looked at the cookies and milk on her plate and took a cookie.

"Well. Just be honest with them as much as you can. People are more scared of what they don't know. So if you can tell them more about yourself, then they will be less worried." Taiyang said after a nice gulp of milk.

"Granted I can't tell them everything. But… I don't want them getting the wrong idea about me." Ruby still felt nervous.

"You will do fine Rubes," Taiyang said, squeezing her shoulder reassuringly.

"Thanks, dad. And I did come here for one more thing." Ruby whistled, and Zwei flew in with a happy bark. "Just gotta finish moving you know. And… gonna need to move my rocket." Ruby mentioned.

"Where will you put your rocket?" Taiyang was confused.

"I got it handled." Ruby patted her knees and Zwei landed on the ground. "I will be back soon." She gave him a hug, and then taking off her glasses, Ruby was gone in a brief blur. Before returning with what looked like flakes of snow in her hair. Shaking the snow out, she put her glasses back on. She then picked up Zwei with a beaming smile.

Vale a few hours later

An explosion rocked the Central Vale bank. Central Vale was considered the financial hub of Vale. A large city set in the middle of the continent, boasting lavish architecture. And today it was the sight of a daring robbery. Four hover cars were racing down the streets, dodging fire from the police squadrons.

"Gods! This score wasn't worth it!" One of the crooks cried out, swerving a wheel to make a sharp turn down Grant avenue.

"Speak for yourself. The boss is paying handsomely. With Roman Torchwick behind bars, everyone wants to make a name." The second Crook sneered while taking out a strange-looking gun, the barrel was translucent with a bubbling multicolored liquid inside of it. "Now then just make another turn wise guy." The crook obeyed his felonious partner in crime, the man peeked out from a window and fired the gun. The liquid hit true as it covered a police vehicle. The vehicle crashed into the ground and began to twist and buckle as the hood of the car became bone-like, then the car started to come to life. The police were trapped inside as the monster car leaped at the other vehicles including a flying bulkhead, and assimilated them into its twisted mass, the police were helpless as they were trapped inside. They weren't crushed luckily but would suffocate if not saved soon.

The creature which looked akin to a Grimm if it was made of scrap, and had multicolored lights it let out a rusty yell. It tore up a street lamp and swung at a store, scaring the people inside. Going for another swing when a beam of silver light cut off its arms. The creature turned around seeing the woman of steel charging at it at mach speeds!

Superwoman stared daggers at the creature as she gripped its torso, and while it flailed at her, bit at her and even tried to squeeze her. Her grip was impossible to break out of, she scanned the monster and saw the trapped officers inside. Can't just destroy this creature, have to get everyone out first. With that thought in mind, Superwoman still holding onto the creature that twisted. She flew high into the sky, the creature still clawing at her. Sparks flying when its long twisted nails clawed uselessly against her invulnerable suit.

The creature isn't very well put together, a good spin should sort this out. She spun around high in the air, the creature could do nothing as the intense speeds at which it was spun around caused its parts to fly around all over the place suspended in the air. The officers were finally free as they plummeted to the earth below. Acting quickly, she used her heat vision to destroy the remains of the odd creature and then flew quickly to a fishing dock. "I am just going to borrow this. I will be back." She said with a smile as she took a collection of industrial fishing nets and then flew back into the skies at great speeds, using her super breath to slow the descent of the falling officers, and with her super strength and heat vision, she welded the nets into one massive net as she caught the flying officers in it. Once they were all secure she flew them down gently, touching down on the streets of Central Vale. "Sorry for being late Gentlemen." Then undoing the massive net around them, she promptly returned said net to its owner. In the process though, those criminals got away… But how did they make that monster? It was like some kind of Grimm. Though not like any I've ever heard or seen about. Such were the thoughts plaguing her mind when she returned to the scene of the crime, using her supervision to scan for clues of any kind.

"Thank you." One of the officers caught her attention.

"Your welcome. But I am just doing what I can." Superwoman smiled at the man. "Do you know anything about these men? Sorry if I am overstepping my bounds." Superwoman didn't find anything odd about the bank, other than some high-grade dust explosives had been used to bust in.

"The only thing we know is they go by the name The Ultras. At least that's what Miss Lane said." The man paused as he realized what he said.

"Miss Lane?" Superwoman asked.

"A reporter from the Daily Planet. She was looking for leads into the Ultras. Last we heard from her, she was on Waid Street. She called us, saying that they had planned to rob the Central Bank. Didn't believe her, but haven't heard from her since." The officer admitted.

"I will look into it. Thank you, Officer." She turned around ready to fly away.

"Turpin." The man said. "Dan Turpin is the name. Good to meet you Superwoman. Keep up the good work." Dan saluted her and nodded back. She flew up up and away. High into the sky, she flew, her vision focusing in until she found Waid Street, zooming into the street, she looked around for anything out of the norm. Her x-ray vision soon found something out of the norm, there in a basement in what looked like a rundown building was a lone woman bound up and gagged, she had piercing purple eyes, and shoulder-length black hair. She wore a purple jacket over a button-up white shirt and blue jeans with purple high heels. That's probably her.

Superwoman flew into the building, automated traps went off. She was pelted with a storm of bullets, using her heat vision she destroyed the automated guns. Then raced through the empty building down the stairs, tearing the steel doors from their hinges and bursting into the room where Ms. Lane was being held. Tearing off the chains that were on her, Superwoman backed up as Ms. Lane stood up, ripping out the gag.

"Huh, so you're real after all. Not gonna lie, I thought you were just some horny boy's mock fantasy, digging in at Huntresses." The woman spat out some spit on the ground. "Those gags, ugh they didn't wash them." She shuddered. "Nice to meet you, Lois Lane. Investigative journalist. Now if you don't mind, I gotta get back on the trail." She spoke in a fast manner that left Superwoman puzzled. I mean it's not like I want to get a thank you all the time, but she seems rather… pushy. She thought to herself politely as she trailed after the nosy reporter.

"So what did you find out?" She asked following Lois around the room.

"The Ultra's boss is a rather secretive fellow. But I am Lois Lane, and secrets don't stay hidden from me." Superwoman raised an eyebrow but refrained from saying anything, as she looked around the room with the reporter. She scanned around the place and noticed something very unusual. When she stared at a certain wall, there was nothing there. She walked over to it, Lois watched as the Superwoman punched down the wall with a mighty punch. She looked on as lights were shown behind the wall. "A hidden passage. Well, what are we waiting for?" Lois made to go down the tunnel but Superwoman stood in her way.

"These criminals are dangerous Ms. Lane. They had a gun that created a monstrosity that assimilated technology. Turrets that would have killed anyone else when I came in. There's no telling what's down there. You should go back to the Police. Let Dan Turpin know their hideout is here." Superwoman crossed her arms.

"I can fully take care of myself." Lois shot back with fire in her eyes. "I am not some damsel…" She huffed remembering the situation that Superwoman had found her in. "Okay aside from that one time, I was a damsel. But that was only because they took me off guard. Look I know your type. You will go in there, bust the place up and there won't be any good material left for a story. I am not leaving without a story." Lois said crossing her arms in defiance.

"You want a story?" Superwoman asked.

"Yes." Lois bit back.

"Well. People have been wondering about me. What if after this is over. I give you an exclusive interview? I promise to meet you after this is all said and done with." Superwoman suggested, and Lois grinned widely, and in the back of her mind. Our heroine idly wondered if she had made the right call to suggest an interview.

"Oh me oh my. An interview with the hottest meal ticket. You got yourself a deal Supes." Lois waved goodbye and walked up the stairs. Superwoman made sure to keep an eye on her with x-ray vision as she safely ascended the stairway and managed to get out of the building. Letting out a sigh of relief that there was one less thing to worry about, she then turned back to the entrance she had carved out. She then sped down the stairs, leaping over steps. Dashing through all the traps. Buzzsaws broke, bullets were wasted, the lasers didn't even phase her. And all the while cameras watched her every move. She came to a massive door and grunted as she took big handfuls and lifted the massive door that was several feet thick and a few meters tall and wide. Tossing it aside with a heavy crashing into the wall next to her. She walked into the darkroom and saw a disturbing sight. Suspended in several tubes were glowing green liquid, but in the liquid was sleeping Grimm. Looking at the creatures she noticed many types she was familiar with, but then there were others that looked warped, their masks were cracked and some were different colors. Is someone experimenting on Grimm? Before she could touch a tube, a sudden light came on in the room, the light came from a massive monitor.

"Hello there Superwoman. I was hoping we would meet at a later date. But I suppose this will have to make due." The man on the screen was elderly with a white goatee and spiked white hair. The most peculiar thing about him was the possession of one red cybernetic eye. "This is but one of my many laboratories. Where I strive to understand the hidden potential in Grimm. But I must thank you. Someone like you showed me that there was far more potential beyond these creatures." The man chuckled.

"I see. And these experiments also led to you making weapons?" She asked, looking around the room for any traps.

"But of course! Tell me Superwoman… How do you think I made my weapon?" The man leaned forward resting his chin on his hands.

"Well if I were to hazard a guess. You used a Geist Grimm as a baseline, they are well known for possessing inanimate objects. Though that had to be tricky given they are mostly incorporeal until possession. Unless…" She tapped her chin. She looked at the liquid, in closer detail with her x-ray vision, it was there she noted some familiar elemental compounds on the subatomic level. "I see. You used gravity dust to keep it rooted but also mixed in compound alloys charged with unstable dust matter to… rewrite part of its DNA…" Superwoman blinked at the implication.

"Well done!" The mad man clapped in delight. "It's so rare I can find someone that can comprehend my genius. But yes I did that! Granted you missed the part where I then programmed exact instructions into them. But I doubt you would have guessed that right away. So that does confirm to me that you aren't all-knowing. But oh where are my manners? I am Dr. Merlot. Once I used to work alongside the top minds in all the kingdoms. But then one accident in Mt. Glenn, and I am disgraced. But I will have my vengeance, oh yes I will have it." He cackled. "You should join me Superwoman. With your might and my intellect, we could change this world into something truly wondrous! I can tell that you won't kneel before a cowardly secret monger like Ozpin. So what do you say?" He asked leaning forward.

"I say… that I am going to bring you in. Your experiment killed a lot of people at Mt. Glenn. Your gun nearly killed more people today. And Grimm are monsters that want to end all life, no matter what. You have a brilliant mind Doc. But I am going to have to bring you in." Superwoman said with a glare.

"Oh, that's a shame. I was hoping you would see reason. Oh well. I will just have to dispose of you. And if you do somehow survive. I am more than a doctor. I am more than a Superwoman. I am the next phase of humanity. I AM THE ULTRA HUMANITE!" The screen flicked off, and then the tubes containing the Grimm burst open. She acted quickly dispatching them with her heat vision, silvery beams of light quickly incinerating the heads off. But some heads began to regrow, it was the different colored mask Grimm, the mutants, they had regenerative properties. "Oh and so you know Superwoman. I have more of these labs across Central Vale, best move quickly." Superwoman grimaced, she had to move faster. There were four mutants in the room with her. A mutant spat acid at her, she moved to the side watching it eat through the ground like it was nothing, another wrapped stretchy limbs around her. The last two rushed at her, she pulled on the limbs with great force sending the stretch limbed monster towards her, and it crashed into one monster, and she flew up, making it continue past her, bumping into the third one. Then before the acid spitter could spit more acid at her, she used her super breath to freeze it and did the same to each of the other three. Breaking off the frozen elongated limbs, she then used her heat vision to incinerate them completely leaving no traces. Ripping off portions of the metal floor, she crafted a cage around the frozen Grimm. Then she flew up the stairs, and out to the outside. And hurled the cage into the atmosphere, she had to move quickly to subdue the other mutant Grimm that would be released into Central. Then when that was done, she could dispose of the mutants properly.

Flying quickly she stopped by the police headquarters. Dan Turpin was outside and looked at the woman of steel. "I found out who was behind this. Dr. Merlot, though he is calling himself Ultra Humanite. He also created some mutant Grimm, they're going to be let loose in the city." She then sped off, and Dan Turpin watched the blur and then resolved himself. He stormed into the station and relayed the news to everyone. We might actually need to call Hunters to deal with this mess.

"Superwoman!" Superwoman heard a familiar voice call her name, it was Lois Lane. Superwoman touched down next to the woman.

"I am not quite done with this. There are some monsters he plans to release." Superwoman said all serious.

"I know. I did manage to investigate these crooks if you will recall. That building was just one of several hideouts. I got a whole map here." Lois said, showing pictures to the woman of tomorrow. Superwoman smiled in thanks.

"Thank you." She then flew off quickly, while Lois felt pleased with the gratitude. She definitely isn't some huntress, most are ungrateful arrogant lousy mercenaries more than kingdom protectors. Superwoman flew to each of the hideouts, moving as fast as possible without causing damage to the city. Bursting into the hideouts, she managed to knock out many crooks in quick succession. And focused primarily on soaring into the hidden labs, and grabbing the tubes of Grimm before they could be released, freezing them for good measure. And hurled them into the atmosphere. Then while she was delivering the crooks to the police, she kept her senses open and refined listening for sounds of screams or monster noises. But there was none. So Lois managed to actually find all his hideouts or is he bluffing and has more in the city?

"Ha! Do you think you won? Ultra will beat you in the end!" A crook boasted, Superwoman looked at him seriously and he gulped, remembering they were still high in the air. She could drop him at any moment. "Uhh...forget I said anything?" He pleaded.

"Where is he?" She asked once with a stern voice.

"... He will kill me?" Superwoman jostled him around in her arms, giving him a good scare as he screamed looking at the ground miles below their feet. "Okay okay! Last I heard he was using a hidden lab in the forever fall forest." He screeched out. And Superwoman smiled as she delivered the last thug to the police. Before quickly zooming off towards Forever Fall, it was a forest dominated by red trees that could produce a special sap known to attract Grimm. Her vision managed to pick up a hastily cobbled building with a receiver tower, and inside was the old man when she looked closer with her X-Ray vision. She rushed into the hut and was given an immediate surprise as a black ray encased her in a field, and it felt heavy driving her into the ground creating a small crater. She found that it was heavy to move.

"Not bad Superwoman. That would have crushed a normal human into a fine paste immediately. But you survived the gravity ray. Let me increase the power." Ultra crooned as the ray from his weapon increased in intensity, and the crater became deeper. She grunted as she slowly marched forward, and the ray increased. But she would not be deterred, she kept marching. The gravity wield was immense, and it created a kind of barrier around her that made it impossible to use her heat vision or super breath or fly. So she would just have to march, and Ultra got nervous as he kept increasing the intensity of the ray well past its safety measures. This resulted in a tremendous explosion that sent the madman rocketing back to the wall. He laughed as Superwoman rushed to his side, looking him over but noticed patches of light where he was damaged. "Heh, you're more super than I bargained for. Further tests will be required. But we're not done yet." Then he shattered into light pieces that turned into nothing a few moments later. Hardlight Dust with a robot skeleton that was projecting the illusion. Clever. Superwoman thought to herself right before the machine self-destructed. The only thing left was the house and the receiver. Looking around she noticed there was no further evidence that she could find to his whereabouts. The crooks probably don't know much, but I will just have to hope that if they do, and do spill the beans. That the daily planet will let me know. Ultra is out there somewhere, and I doubt he is going to stop with his experiments. But something doesn't add up, the man is a genius if insane. But that tech at the end there, I am no stranger to radical dust experimentation but something was different about the ray gun and the skeleton projecting that optical illusion using hard light dust. I get the feeling there is someone else involved in this game, that tech doesn't seem like something a man obsessed with Grimm would make.

Superwoman flew off quickly back into the atmosphere where the mutant Grimm were, and the color was gone. I was right, by putting them far enough away from Remnant. The dust that makes up their mutation lost its power, they won't have that regeneration ability. She then destroyed them all with her heat vision. Then it was a matter of going back to Central Vale, stopping in front of the police station. Officers drew their weapons on her for a split second before lowering them when Officer Turpin ran outside. "Just wanted to let you know, I got rid of the Mutant Grimm. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the real Dr. Merlot. He's still at large, but his labs seem abandoned. The traps were destroyed when I ran through them. So you should have no problem getting evidence." She had made sure to stop by the labs one more time to disarm any traps, some of which included bombs.

"Alright, we will check them out. You take care kid." Turpin saluted her, and Superwoman smiled and flew off. She just had one last matter to take care of before she could return to being Ruby Xiaolong. She had to go give Lois Lane her interview. Focusing her super hearing she focused on finding Lois' distinct voice. And she did. The star reporter was in a phone booth, talking to her editor in chief when she heard a whooshing sound. She turned around seeing Superwoman outside the booth with a smile and in her clothes as usual the red cape billowing in the wind. "I gotta go, boss." Lois then hung up the phone. "So you're finally ready for an interview?" She took out a notepad and recorder.

"Sure thing. Though I would prefer we do this somewhere else." Superwoman held out her hand, Lois blinked for a few moments. Remember… for the story Lois. Lois stepped forward and took Superwoman's hand, and gasped as they flew through the sky. It was like nothing she had ever experienced, flying above the land seeing the twinkling lights of the city as the sun began to set. This is amazing and she gets to do it all the time, incredible.

One small hill later next to the outskirts of Central Vale. Superwoman released Lois' hand. "Well, here I am. Ask away." Superwoman said with a laugh.

"Well for starters. We call you Superwoman but do you have an actual name?" Lois asked, turning on the recorder.

"I do. My real name is Lin-El." Superwoman answered.

"Lin-El? That's quite the odd name, never heard of any place that uses a name like that." Lois commented.

"That's because I am not from this world," Superwoman said and when Lois looked at her with a dubious gaze, she continued. "I come from Krypton. It was a planet with an advanced civilization far far away. But it was destroyed in a natural disaster. But I understand if you don't believe me, but I do have proof." Superwoman reached for her sleeve and tore off a piece of her fabric and handed it to Lois. "I hear your paper works with Star Labs, they can examine it if you want." She said.

"Okay let's say I believe you. That you're some super powerful alien from another world. Why are you going around saving people?" Lois asked, jotting down some notes.

"My planet was destroyed in a horrible accident, and no one could do anything about it. I just want to help this world because I can. I just want to help, I am not trying to gain anything. I think of this place as my home, same as anyone else does." Superwoman smiled.

"So where does Superwoman live when she isn't going around saving people all day?" Lois asked. So far I don't think she's lying, but an alien with this much power. Is she for real? How long has she been with us?

"It's a work in progress. But I am working on a place, it's very far north. That's about all I can say for now." Superwoman said with a wink. "Wouldn't want people to find it yet until it's done being touched up. Would be embarrassing." She laughed.

Well, that pretty much confirms that she isn't living among us in secret then. So this is really her then, no gimmicky masks, a real name to call her by, and she lives somewhere private. Far north though? Hmm, must be a really well-hidden place. Lois shrugged as she jotted down the notes. "Then just a few more questions then if you don't mind?" Lois asked and Superwoman nodded. "So is the great Superwoman dating anyone? Does she have any hobbies, and what's with the underwear over your pants? And for all the horny lads out there, what are your measurements." Lois asked in a rapid-fire set of questions. Superwoman blushed hard at the last question.

"No not really seeing anyone right now. Well in my spare time, I like to fly around and see the sights. Then I usually just relax for a few hours, and I've even flown around space for a bit. Though I haven't yet tried out to see how far I can fly." She admitted. "And they're trunks. Like Circus Strongmen wear, it makes it easier to move in these tights, plus I think they look cool." She shrugged. "And that last one is a little personal, so can I pass on answering it?" She asked with the blush deepening.

"Fair enough. Seeya next time. I should be able to call a ride back to Beacon City." Lois said, already pulling out her scroll. "Though I hear that one of the councilmen is starting up a campaign to rename the city. Metropolis they say. Wouldn't that be something?" But by the time the reporter looked up. Superwoman had already vanished, the reporter shrugged as she dialed her contacts list.

Beacon City SteelMax Prison

Everything had gone off without a hitch, Roman was smugly walking through the garage of the infamous SteelMax prison. The most inescapable prison in all of Remnant. At least according to its warden. But they had never met Neo, her physical illusions made walking out a piece of cake. Sure in the morning when they checked the cell, they would see he was missing. But that didn't matter, he just had to get back to business. Neo smiled as she walked alongside him. Right now she had them disguised as two guards that were currently tied up in their own homes, courtesy of Neo. He then noticed someone standing in the middle of the garage, it was a feminine figure, dressed in all black and a dark mask that concealed her face, and if she had any hair, it was hidden under said mask. Advanced-looking goggles were on her mask, and in one hand she held a briefcase and in the other hand, she held a low-tech-looking scroll.

"Well hello there miss. You lost?" Roman asked, trying to maintain the disguise as an officer. She held up the scroll device in response. The screen displayed words that sent shivers up Roman's spine.

Hello Mr. Torchwick. I knew you would be able to escape your cell. Researching your record led to some surprising results, and keeping an eye on your prison cell. Well, let's just say, that I have a proposition for you. The scroll read Roman exchanged a look with Neo. She nodded and extended the blade from her parasol. She leaped at the mysterious female, but then her disguise vanished much to Roman's surprise, because usually when that happened, her illusions had a glass-shattering effect. For it to vanish with none of that was odd. The woman dodged Neo's strike and with surprising speed, she hit Neo several times with her fingers in a poking manner, and Neo fell to the ground in a limp fashion.

"Neo!" Roman growled aiming his cane at the woman.

It would seem that you will need a little convincing. My associate here has a neat little semblance that allows her to negate other semblances. But that's not important. What is important is my proposition. I would recommend that you hear it out first. The woman stood emotionlessly holding the scroll, unflinching at Roman's silent threat.

"Okay say I am willing to hear this proposition." Roman declared.

The proposition is simple Mr. Torchwick. I will pay you money, and in return, I just need you to do some jobs for me. They will be simple and easy for a man of your talents. And I can even cover your tracks, it will be like you never left prison. And who knows, if the pieces fall in line, you may even gain your revenge on Superwoman. Interested? Roman looked at the tantalizing scroll and then the woman opened the briefcase, and Roman's eyes widened at the copious amount of Lien in the case. Letting out a low whistle he lowered his cane.

"Alright, you got my attention." He said.

Very good Mr. Torchwick. First, we will take care of your confinement, the rest can be discussed later. Just follow my employee. As the Scroll went black, a shimmer of light caught Roman's attention. There was a robot he hadn't seen before, it was skeletal in appearance. Then another flash of light, and it looked just like him. Roman wasn't sure what was going on but decided to not question it. He was getting actual money and a chance at revenge. And for all he knew, these people could be working for the same employer he had previously worked with. Picking up Neo, he trailed after the mysterious woman, curious as to what fate would be waiting for him in store.

A/N: And another chapter. Thank you all so far. Can't wait to see you all in the next chapter and the premier of another supervillain! Also for those curious, Dr. Merlot is from Grimm Eclipse, a rwby video game, basically a real mad scientist in the world of remnant, so I decided yeah let's merge this guy with the ultra humanite idea. Until next time, Stenv Signing off.
