Chapter 4
Path To Mount Vesuvius
After escaping from the Forest of Temptation, Lena and her friends found themselves getting closer to Mount Vesuvius. Once she reached Magica's lair, Lena knew that she would have to prepare herself for the worst.
Every step closer to Mount Vesuvius filled Lena's head with questions. What was she going to do when she finally confronts Magica? Should she fight Magica with her powers, or just give in and hand over her powers to Magica willingly? Either way, Lena was going to save Webby by any means necessary.
"You don't have to worry, Lena" Lena heard Violet speak to her.
"Huh?"
"Our adventure is nearly over, and we are close to saving Webbigail." Violet explained.
"Yeah. Aunt Magica took Webby away, but once Webby is safe I won't let anyone kidnap her again." Lena promised.
"Webbigail is very lucky to have you as her girlfriend. Just remember that I'll do everything I can to help you rescue Webbigail. After all, she is my friend too." Violet smiled as she showed her friendship bracelet to Lena.
Lena soon gave her adoptive sister a smile. "Thanks, Violet!"
The grass and trees began to disappear behind Lena and her friends as they got closer to Mount Vesuvius.
"So, this is Mount Vesuvius?" Louie asked as he gazed at the towering volcano above him.
"Yes. Judging by how big it is, it could take us a long time to climb all the way to the top." Huey observed.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Dewey was about to run to the top when Scrooge stopped him.
"Not so fast, lad! This could be the most dangerous part of our adventure. Don't forget that we'll have to face Magica soon." Scrooge warned.
Beakly nodded. "Mr. McDuck is right. If we are going to climb Mount Vesuvius, we'll have to stick together. Do I make myself clear?"
Everyone nodded in response before they followed Scrooge and Beakly up Mount Vesuvius. It was a long and dangerous climb, but Lena and her friends were too determined to give up now. They were halfway up Mount Vesuvius when they heard something.
They all looked around to see where the sound was coming from until Huey pointed in front of him and yelled, "Rock slide!"
That was when Lena and her friends realized that a bunch of boulders were rolling towards them. It was at that moment when Lena transformed into her Super Sorceress Form. She used her magic to stop the boulders from rolling any closer. Despite that, it was hard for Lena to keep them still even with her magic. Using the last of her strength, Lena threw the boulders out of the way, saving her friends.
Unfortunately, using her magic caused Lena to collapse to the ground as she reverted back to her normal form. Lena took a couple of deep breaths before her friends rushed over to check on her.
"Lena, are you alright?" Scrooge asked.
"I-I think so." Lena panted
Lena tried to get back up, only to fall back on the ground.
"Don't try to get up. You used up too much of your magic." Beakly said. "We need to rest for now. We'll continue our climb tomorrow."
"What? No! We're so close to saving Webby! We can't stop now!" Lena argued.
"Lena, we can't go on until you recovered." Huey tried to reason with Lena.
Before Lena could argue, Beakly said, "Listen, Lena. I am worried about Webby too. However, we can't hope to rescue her if you don't recover."
It was at that moment when Lena realized that she couldn't argue anymore. She knew that she wouldn't be able to rescue Webby if she couldn't even stand.
With a sigh, Lena replied, "I understand, Mrs. Beakly. I guess I need to rest for awhile."
"Then let's find a place to rest." Scrooge suggested.
It wasn't long before Scrooge found a nearby cave. Once everyone got comfortable, they placed a lantern in the center of the cave. They sat around the lantern for a couple of hours before the sky got dark. Soon, everyone fell asleep, with the exception of Lena. She stayed awake, afraid that she would have another nightmare. All she could think of was Webby. As long as Webby was held captive by Magica, Lena was never going to rest.
Since she couldn't wait to save Webby any longer, Lena stood up. Despite struggling to stand, Lena managed to get up. It was at that moment, when Lena sneaked out of the cave. She gave a sad look before turning to her friends one more time.
"Sorry, guys. Webby needs me, and I'm not going to keep her waiting any longer." Lena whispered, careful not to wake anyone up.
With that, Lena left the cave and continued her climb up Mount Vesuvius. Now that she was getting close to Magica's lair, Lena knew that she would have to be prepared for anything. With her adventure nearly over, Lena was going to do everything she could to save Webby.
AN: Well, that's the end of the fourth chapter. Sorry if this chapter seemed a little short, compared to the other chapters of the story. I hope to make the next chapter long, so I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far, and I'll write the next chapter soon.
