Aaahhhh I hate hangovers but here is my next submission for 9 days.
Ruby sighed lying down on Jaune's chest as she felt it rising and falling with his breaths. She had been lying like that for what felt like hours now having long ago stopped bothering to wipe the tears from her eyes since they would just keep coming leaving a wet patch on his bandages. Ignoring the pang of hunger, she continued to lie there not making a sound in fear that he would get worse if she did.
She hadn't moved in what she was sure was days simply lying there as she listened to his heart beat. Staying tuned for any irregularity in the beats. She was terrified of getting up as she lied there, her skin having grown paler than its normal hue.
Doing her best to ignore the weighted feeling of her eye lids as they stung lightly, she forced herself to stay awake, holding onto him tighter than she probably should have been feeling like if she were to let go off him, he would disappear and she wouldn't see him again.
Just like her mom.
Shaking her head from those thoughts she counted her blessings that the necklace she had given him managed to save him from Tyrian, they had said that if it weren't for that he would have died the moment he was struck.
Dead to the rest of the world she pulled the blanket over the two of them and as quiet as a mouse continued to lie there until she passed out drooling lightly against Jaune's chest.
The next time Ruby woke up she was stunned, feeling her heart race as her foggy mind noticed that she had a comforting pair of arms around her making her gasp opening her eyes.
"Jaune your awake!" Ruby says loudly in relief as she looked in his tired blue eyes her hand going to cut the side of his face as she hugged him tighter in relief.
"a little less tight please" came Jaune's pained reply as he hugged her back, doing his best to work through the pain as he looked back to her cloudy silver eyes with tear tracks on her face filling him with guilt for letting himself get hurt.
"I'm so sorry" Ruby told him feeling guilty for hurting him as her arms went limp around him again making him sigh before he cupped the side of her face with his hand wiping the tears from her face with his thumb as he leaned in to softly kiss her lips.
"it wasn't your fault none of this was" he told her with finality doing his best to soothe her as he rested his forehead against hers before he paused. looking on in worry he subconsciously let his head tilt "is everyone else, okay?" he asked her ignoring his bodies desire to fall back to sleep needing to know that he hasn't lost anymore of his loved ones.
"they're fine, there aura had even healed them before Uncle Qrow and Clover were able to umm" Ruby then paused seemingly unable to find the words or at least say it "before they finished dealing with Tyrian" she told him as she embraced him once again feeling relief as she focused on the feeling of his warm arms around her.
"I'm so happy to hear that" Jaune told her smiling wider as he pulled Ruby against him as tightly as his weakened body would let him subconsciously noticing her coo against him as the two of them kissed once more becoming lost in each other's bodies as they made up for lost time.
