Kimberly awoke suddenly. It wasn't because the two bells were going off and her step sisters were shouting "KIMBERLY!" It was because her dream had reached its end. She had an exciting dream. Her parents were both still alive and she had just met the prince of Angel Grove. And he was the most handsome boy she had ever laid her eyes on. Now that her night movie was over, it was to engage in her everyday life. First, she had to cook breakfast for her step-sisters and her step-mother.
Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits, sausage, and bacon served with orange juice. Just as Kimberly was getting ready to serve breakfast, Rita noticed there was something on her face.
"What's on your face?" Rita asked as Kimberly placed the plate down in front of her and pour her juice in a cup. "It looks like-"
"-ashes!" Elsa interrupted as Kimberly grabbed wet dish cloth. "Have you been playing in the fire place."
"Kimberly, I demand that you go get cleaned up," Rita ordered. "And then put on some clean clothes."
"We'll call her Flitty Kimberly!" Cassidy cried as Kimberly wiped off her face. "After all she is dirty."
"No, we'll can her Cinder Kimberly!" Elsa corrected. "She's all covered in-"
"Girls, that is not good enough," Rita interrupted with a smirk. "I think Emberly would be prefect for her. Get it? Ember and Kimberly?!"
As the three of them all started to laugh, Kimberly placed a plate on the table for her breakfast.
"Are we missing someone?" Rita asked raising an eyebrow.
"It's for me," Kimberly answered with a smile. "I'd like to eat breakfast with you."
"Kimberly, I mean Emberly, it is already too much to ask you to cook our breakfast," Rita replied as she took a sip of her juice. "Wouldn't you rather eat your meals when all of your work is done."
Kimberly picked up her plate and walked out of the kitchen and headed towards the storage room to finish her work. She could her step mother and step-sisters laughing at the new nickname that Rita gave her. Her hands began to shake and she dropped the plate on floor. As it shattered, she started to cry. As warm tears ran down her face, she saw her reflection staring back at her. Her face was covered in ashes and stained from her tears. She suddenly realized she had turn into creature of scattered ashes and who worked like a house slave.
The horse stable was a place of calmness; it was almost like a place that Kimberly could go for therapy and receive some healing, even thought it was smelly and had patches dung and urine to clean up. There were times when the whole stabled needed to be dug out and replaced with fresh bedding. Anytime Kimberly went to the stable, she always washed and replenished her horse's water and filled hay nets. She opened the door and walked into a stable where she greeted by a light grey horse, she called Lacy. Lacy loved the fields because there were tons of space to roam and play. So, Kimberly's goal was to always make the stable as nice as she could so Lacy would have a place to live and be cared for. You could say it was her hotel for Lacy and Kimberly always intended on treating her with kindness and like a guest that was visiting.
Kimberly and Lacy headed into the forest. Lacy spoke of her emotion with each small step she took. She listened to the steady hooves and the gentle tail swishes as her horse walked through the forest. The horse galloped in an explosive energy as an arrow came flying in midair. It hit the middle of a target painted on a tree.
"I hit the center of the target!"
From out of nowhere came two boys. One was skinny, had black spiky hair, wore a black leather jacket, and a pair of black jeans. The other boy was big, was wearing a bandana around his head, a tie dye tee shirt, and jeans.
"Who are you?" Kimberly asked.
"I'm Skull," the skinny boy answered. "And this is my friend Bulk."
"We're practicing archery," Bulk informed. "We've sat up our own target so we can practice. All of the other targets are always being used-"
"-Bulk, maybe this girl will go on a date with me," Skull hinted with a smirk on his face. He walked over to Kimberly and pulled her of the horse. And he gave her a kiss."She's so pretty."
"I wish you'd leave me alone!" Kimberly shouted as she pushed Skull off her. "I don't want to date you."
"You don't know what you are saying-"
"Excuse me, she told you to leave her alone!"
A handsome boy jumped off his white horse and walked over to Bulk and Skull. Hearts appeared in Kimberly's eyes as she stared at this boy. He was tall, muscular, and had brown shoulder length hair pulled back into a ponytail. He was dressed in khaki pants, a green double-breasted jacket and a black undershirt.
"You just need to stay out of this!" Skull remarked.
"I heard her tell you to leave her alone," the boy answered in angry voice. "So, you need to leave her alone."
Bulk came charging at the boy and he jumped off his horse. The strange boy flipped Skull over on his back. And Bulk charged towards him. Kimberly watched as the boy performed a spinning kick which caused Bulk to step back; Bulk tripped over a rock and started to roll down the hill.
"Don't worry, I'm coming, Bulky," Skull shouted as he started to run after Bulk. However, Bulk stepped in mud and tripped. He fell face first in the mud and looked up at the boy. "You'll pay for this!"
The boy walked over to Skull and gave him a shove and he started to slide down the mud as if he was sliding down a water slide. Not only was this boy cute and attractive, he was very brave too. Kimberly knew she could never say, but if it wasn't for Rita and her step-sisters making fun of her, she may have not have met this mysterious boy.
"Are you okay," the boy asked as he walked over to her.
"Yes, I was just getting way to have some time to myself," Kimberly answered as he started to blush.
"What is your name-"
"-it doesn't matter, I'm no one important," Kimberly quickly interrupted. "Who are you?"
"Oh, I'm Thomas," the boy quickly answered. "But, everyone calls me Tommy."
"Nice to meet you," Kimberly answered with a smile. "Where do you live?"
"I live at the royal palace," Tommy answered as he watched Kimberly get back on her horse. "My dad is teaching me a special trade."
"I bet you are treated well," Kimberly stated as she pulls a strand of hair behind her ear.
"They treat me really good at the palace," Tommy answered as he started to blush. "In fact, they treat me better than I deserve. What about your family?"
"Oh, they treat me as good as they are able to," Kimberly sighed as Tommy raised an eye brow. "I live at-"
"-There you are," said the captain as he came over to Tommy. The captain looked fairly young. He had blond hair and dressed in a red shirt. "We've been looking all over for you where have you been?"
"Carter, I got separated from the group when I saw two boys harassing this girl," Tommy answered. "I'm sorry I left the group when we were looking for that stag."
"Oh, it's okay," Carter answered as he watched Tommy and Kimberly blush. "We caught the stag. Pri-"
Tommy had just met this girl and he didn't want her to know that he was the prince. True, he'd be getting a lot of attention. But, anytime a girl got close to him it was usually to take advantage of him because he was prince. She was treating him like a normal person, something that he really desired and he wanted to keep it that way.
"-Carter, I've told you several times to just call me Tommy," Tommy quickly interrupted.
"Okay," Carter answered. "Tommy we need to be leaving."
"I hope to see you again," Tommy beamed as he continued to blush.
"I hope that we will see each other again too," Kimberly smiled.
Author's note:
In the live action Cinderella, Cinderella and Prince Kit met in the forest when she was being chased by a stag. But, I decided that I wanted to bring Bulk and Skull in and have Tommy and Kimberly meet after she told Skull to leave her alone, like it happened in the show. In the next chapter, we will be exploring Tommy's life at the castle so stay tuned!
