Merlin hid behind the people slightly. He sometimes forgets how easy it is to deceive humans. A silent hum filled the air as he titled his head to the side slightly.
A small smile formed on his face as he listens to the two siblings fighting with Uther. He could admire them for trying to change how things are, but if they are not planning on overthrowing the king then they can argue until they are blue in the face.
Nothing will change. Uther would continue with the killings.
Arthur glared at his father before he turned around forcing him to calmly walked out of the room. Merlin shook his head slightly before he followed the prince out.
He soon found Arthur in a small alcove. The hard breathing and salty smell in the alcove clued him in that Arthur was crying.
Merlin was silent as he put his hand on the prince's shoulder. "Are you alright?" He kept his voice low.
Arthur forced himself to take a breath, but it just felt like it got stuck in his throat. "No. She is going to die and it would be my bloody fault." The words were broken between sobs.
"You weren't the one who handed her to the king, so you are not responsible for her death." Merlin tried to keep his voice reassuring but he was sure some of the disbelieve he was feeling was showing.
A shake of his head showed that Arthur didn't believe him. Merlin sighs slightly before he pulled Arthur to the chambers. There was no reason to get caught outside.
His aura pulsed around them, almost making them invisible. With ease, they walked the short distance.
Merlin pushed Arthur to sit on his bed. Without even really thinking about it Merlin swept the silent tears away.
"Now why do you say it is your fault?" Merlin kept his voice low as he sat down next to Arthur.
Arthur was silent for a moment. "Because I didn't do enough to make sure the men weren't searching for them." Arthur's voice was hoars. "I should have done more, to make sure they keep away from the people." Another sob.
Merlin was silent as he pulled Arthur into a hug. There is nothing that he could say that would change how Arthur was feeling.
For a moment he hated the fact that he was a demon, if he was a fae or angle he might have been able to influence the king's mind for the good. But there was nothing he could do.
"It wasn't your fault. Sometimes bad things happen to good people Arthur. But I promise you, your father would die someday and well I can tell you where he is going." Merlin pushed Arthur slightly backwards so that he could say it to Arthur's face.
"You did enough." Merlin smiled would have been warm but his teeth were showing.
When Merlin pulled back, Arthur wished that he would stay close. His skin was still burning with his touch and his mind felt slightly calmer.
The silence in the room was starting to grow slightly heavier.
"Will you tell me about your world, please?" Arthur's voice was loud in the quiet room. His eyes were sore and he could feel the start of a killer headache forming.
Merlin lifted his brow slightly before he asked. "Is there something specific you would like to know?"
"Everything about your world?" Arthur could feel a blush forming on his cheeks.
"Well, we have a similar setting as you humans. We also have a king and then we rank down in nobility. For example, it is the king, then his seven servants. I believe you humans call them the seven deadly sins.
"Those eight are the highest ranking. They make sure hell is keeping up to shape and everything that needs to happen will happen.
"Lower demons also need permission from them to take on contracts, but that happens pretty much in a flash so the seven servants have people working under them, to make sure they know where each contract is going to and that there aren't too many demons at the same time on earth." Merlin trailed off slightly unsure of what he wanted to tell Arthur.
"Where do you rank?" Arthur's voice was slightly timed.
A small flash of red and a wicked smile almost made Arthur move backwards on the bed.
"Well, I am the king darling." Merlin's eyes were bright as he looked at Arthur.
