Prepare for an extra long chapter! I am so excited for this story, it has already won my heart over. I rarely get to use a non overpowered potential character... it is so much fun to play with reasonable power that feels genuine...
If you don't know what Escrima sticks are, look up Sarah Lance (White Canary) from Arrow on youtube and you'll see how you fight with them. Or maybe Nightwing/Robin from Young Justice for a cartoon version... or the Liutenant from Season one of the Legend of Korra, since the electricity was inspired from him.
P.S. Nezu is a huge favorite of mine, so expect a lot from his perspective. I adore him.
It was time... the day for the U.A. Hero exam and boy was Izuku terrfied as he was excited. His hands shook as he walked out to the dinning room where his mother was drinking tea, looking at him sadly. He smiled at her as warmly as he could, the expression almost unfamilar. "Can we talk... I don't have a lot of time but... there is something I want to say."
She almost recoiled, but nodded with more excitment then he was used to. "Of course, Baby." He sat down, smiling at her, when she seemed to realize something. "What are those sticks Izuku?"
"Oh...well, their Electric Escrima sticks, think tazers mixed with batons... their for the Hero exam I am taking today."
She gaped. " Hero... I th... I thought you wanted to be a cop?" her voice sort of scratched, making him wince.
"Only because All Might told me to try that, he had no faith I could be a hero when he saved me from the Slime Villian... and frankly he was right for the wrong reasons." He reached out and grabbed his mom's hands, squeezing tightly. "Mom, I need this. When All Might told me that,... that without a quirk I would never be a hero, I almost broke. The truth is, it is what I need but he was right in a way. I was lazy, weak and anxious. I needed to better myself. and I did. I have sculpted my body through hard work, I got a blackbelt in Judo in just ten months, I have actually broken records from Quirk users did you know that?"
She shook her head, a proud light in her confused eyes.
"I taught myself mechanical stuff and made my own weapons, to deal with having no Quirk. What does it matter if you can blow things up if your being electrocuted. I taught myself how to fire a gun, I am a near perfect shot on an unmoving target. I can run for over an hour without getting tired, and I can climb around the city like a monkey it's great. I have started teaching myself coding, which is hard but fun. I picked up the violin after finding it on the Beach dump, I am not bad at that either. I am pretty sure my analysis books are better then most professionals...
The truth is I was holding back in more ways then one. The world was making me hold back, fear and doubt and pain over took me and I let it leave me worthless. I would have never accomplsihed as much as I was capable of but now... now I am. Having no Quirk gives me space to master other things, to take those things and become a hero worth remembering. The kind of hero that stops people from fearing for their saftey and sanity. The kind that inspires kids like me to excel...
I can do this Mom, I want your support... but I don't need it. If you cannot accept this, I understand, but it will not stop me from excelling here more then ever. My hard work, mastering two styles of combat, learning strategy and tactics and mechanics and so many other things...it will matter and I will shine. I won't let any one smother me, even you... So I ask you...
Can you accept that?"

Inko's heart shattered at her son's words, the tired pain the echoed in every syllabl. She wanted to sob, to scream at the world that had hurt him so badly. She knew that, despite his confidence he was still in great pain. Pain that she was in part responsible for, her constant doubt of him, not helping push him towards his dreams... she wasn't a bad mother, she knew that, but she had made mistakes that had hurt her baby...
She knew her answer.
Standing, she walked over to her baby and pulled him into the warmest, tightest hug she had ever given him. "Baby, I am so sorry for not being there when you needed me... when you were diagnosed with no Quirk, I let the doubt get to me too... I Should have put you in therapy, in martial arts so you could excel, stopped the bullies... I should have done so many things... but I failed you.
No more though... for now on I am in your corner, I am your cheerleader and your manager. I will be there for you always and forever... if you can forgive your foolish mother."
When her son, who hadn't cried in ten months, started to sob in her arms, Inko knew everything would be alright...
They were back together and all would be right.
Pulling away, she looked at her baby and realized how different he looked... he had put on almost thirty pounds of muscle, lean and handsome. His hair had been cut short, almost like a fohawk. He was wearing a tight white shirt with a tight expensive leather jacket and black pants that had the two sticks in pouches. He was dressed to impress and kick ass, and boy was she proud of that.
But most of all was how honest he looked, like a more complete picture. She hadn't realized how dull he had been until she looked at him like this, how he had lost so much of himself from years of doubt, self hate and the abuse of the world. He looked freer then she had ever seen him and nothing could have made her happy.
"Go, kick ass and take names and show them that I made the worlds next greatest hero." He laughed, a richer, warmer sound then she had ever heard. As he stood to leave, she stopped him. "I have two more things to say actually... first, you should go to therapy... I should have put you in there sooner, the world has never been kind to you and honestly it might help you... "
He sighed but nodded. " I actually already sent Hound Dog, U.A.'s therapist, an email asking for a meeting if I get in. I have been reading a lot of self help books. I want to say I've crushed my anxiety and other issues but I think I just repressed some of them. I don't want them surfacing. What was the second thing?"
"Why the violin?"
His laughter filled their apartment once more. " I found one when I was looking for parts in Daguba beach. It was baffling, finding one in near perfect shape just laying there. I figured it would be a challenge, something fun. It's only been two weeks, I had to get strings for it, but I started to practice. You know I can already sing, at least a little, we learned in school... I kind of like the idea of performing publically, like a street performance or something. A lot of studies say that art helps with brain development and langauge and math, so it can't hurt right?"
"Not at all, but you have to play me something when you get into it."
"Naturally... I really do love you, Mom, I am sorry for the distance."
"I know, but we both made mistakes... the only important thing is we fixed it. Now, off you go, go show the world what you are made of."
As her son left, Inko swore she would never fail him again...
Never again...
:::
Trotting up the stairs of U.A., Izuku took a moment to breathe deeply, embracing the beauty of the moment and the oppurtunity that had been presented to him. Despite it being his dream, he had never really bought that he would end up here. Faking it til you made it only could do go so far afterall...
'But here I am, and here I will stay for three years. I will graduate and become an amazing hero, better then All Might. Besides, even if I fail the hero test right now I am a shoe in for the Support course. I put in my notebooks, schematics for my Escrima sticks, and my lesson plans for my training for consideration. We just have to take the written portion, which is the same for all courses. I got this.'
Stepping forward with all the swagger in the world, he was stopped when a familar jerk bumped into him.
"Stupid Deku," Bakugo said as he walked past Midoriya. "Get out of my way, now, before I set you on fire."
Rage burned in his belly, and Izuku quickly reached forward and grabbed Bakugo's wrist, twisting it painfully enough that Bakugo stopped and looked at him with a mix of hate and fear. "I will snap your wrists and all of your fingers if you keep your shit up. Grow up and stop being a villain." Letting go of the idiot's wrist, he walked right past him before turning back. "Try me, I dare you. If you think I was scary nine months ago, see what I can do now. I could shatter your entire ribcage with a single kick. I dare you, try me."
When he got no response only a look of shock and fear, Izuku continued walking away, pleased with the fear he had instilled in the idiot. It was the least he deserved for a life time of abuse and pain.
"I think that's the kid who withstood the sludge villain. His name's Bakugo, right?"
"Yeah, he's the real deal."
The sudden surgance of people kissing Bakugo's ass left a sour taste in Izuku's mouth. Even here, even now, people wanted to spend their time on their knees for that douche...
Idiots, all of them.
'To think, I used to be like them... sigh.'
''''''
"What's up, UA candidates? Thanks for tunin' into me, your school DJ. C'mon. And lemme hear ya!" Present Mic all but screamed at them. Izuku wanted to laugh at the silence the man recieved, his stunned and pained look was hilarious. "Keeping it mellow, huh? That's fine. I'll skip straight to the main show. Let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, okay? Are you ready? Yeah!"
Unable to entirely shed his adoration for heroes, Izuku had a killer grin on his face. "Present Mic is still awesome, I wonder if he is as nice as he seems. I think he teaches English. I wonder if he lets students do radio work, could be fun."
"Will you shut up?" Bakugo said, only to flinch when Izuku stared at him with as much hate as he was capable of.
"Like your application said, today you rockin' boys and girls will be out there conducting ten-minute mock battles in super-hip urban settings. Gird your loins, my friends. After I drop the mic here, you'll head to your specified battle center. Sound good? Okay?" Present Mic said as the screen behind him changes to show the different battle centers.
"I see. they're splitting us up so we can't work with any of our friends," Bakugo said.
"You have no friends, Bakugo." He snarked at the idiot.
"Okay, okay, let's check out your targets. There are three types of faux villains in every battle center. You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty, so better choose wisely. Your goal in this trial is to use your quirk to raise your score by shredding these faux villains like a mid-song guitar solo. But check it! Make sure you're keeping things heroic. Attacking other examinees is a UA no-no, ya dig?" Present Mic said. The screen behind him changed to show the three robots, and then a mini present mic figure crushing the robots.
Izuku got excited. "Thanks the gods I have been studying mechanical stuff! My sticks have a max output of a million volts, I could short circut these things if I poke in the right place...and I could tear out plugs, wires and whatever is exposed. I don't imagine their that durable, there is no ways they'd do that to students, they have to give us at least some chance at success, so I might be able to destroy them with my sticks,... maybe. Still, sucks that this test is catering to physical quirks, that means mental quirks are at a huge disadvantage. Maybe I could keep some parts? Who knows?" Boy was he excited.
"Excuse me, sir, but I have a question," A kid said, raising his hand.
"Hit me!" Present Mic yells.
A spotlight shines on a tall, buff looking stiff. "On the printout, you've listed four types of villains. Not three. With all respect, if this is an error on official UA materials, it is shameful. We are exemplary students. We expect the best from Japan's most notable school. A mistake such as this won't do. Additionally, you with the unkempt hair," he said.
"Huh," Midoriya said, pointing at himself.
"You've been muttering this entire time. Stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously, leave. You're distracting the rest of us." The moron uttered.
"I am sorry, but who are you?" Izuku raised a brow at the moron in question. "Yes, I have been muttering but what does it matter to you? I am like five rows from you, not that loud. I am thinking aloud, it's how I process things. If you had half a brain you might realize that, of course not everyone lives with a stick up their ass." The boy blushed and looked almost pained, as if he had no idea how to process anything. "Now sit down and be quiet like a good boy, this little scene you've made it worse then my mumbling and it's eaten up more time."
The boy sat down, looking red faced and pained, which brought Izuku more joy then he realized. Who knew standing up to bullies would feel so good?
"All right, all right. Examinee number 7111. Thanks for calling in with your request. The fourth villain type is worth zero points. That guy's just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way. There's one in every battle center. Think of it as a hurdle you should try to avoid. It's not that it can't be beaten, but there's... Kinda no point. I recommend my listeners try to ignore it and focus in the lines toppin' the charts," Present Mic said, as the screen behind him showed the mini Present Mic figure running away from the zero pointer.
"Thank you very much..." The moron said, still red faced.
"Oh, I get it. So they're kinda like traps you have to get by in games."
"The whole thing's kinda like a video game, huh?"
"That's all I got for you today. I'll sign off with a little present. A sample of our school motto! As general, Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down. 'A true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes.' Mm-hm. Now that's a tasty soundbite. You ready to go beyond? Let's hear a plus ultra! Good luck! Hope you practiced hitting more than just books," Present Mic said.
No one said a word, not even Izuku.
""'
The exam arena, as it turned out, was a giant freaking city complete with buildings and all that one could ever want to use for Parkour. Izuku smirked deeply, excited and a little turned on at the chance to show off. He had never shown a soul what he could do, it was time to show the world what he was made of, show these Quirkist bastards that he was better then them all...
"This is nuts."
"It's like a whole city."
"Can you imagine how much it cost to build this?"
"UA is amazing!"
Izuku laughed a little at the various kids' statements, not that he disagreed in the slightest. U.A. went overboard it seemed.
Looking around, he was annoyed to see the Moron from the presentation standing around looking serious. He wanted to sabatoge him, but held back knowing cheating would be met with fierce resistance... he hoped so anyway. He hoped U.A. cared about that kind of thing, unlike his other school that spent it's time on their knees for people like Bakugo and allowed people to abuse people like Izuku.
"Right, let's start!" Present Mic yelled suddenly, and Izuku took off, literally vaulting over other people with a single movement, sprinting into the city as fast as he could, pulling out his sticks and readying himself to destroy whatever he could. He found a robot, a two pointer, in less then five seconds. As he shot towards it, he heard Present Mic scream out.
"Get moving! There are no countdowns in real battles. Run, run, run, little listeners! You're wasting airtime here."
'Idiots...' He thought as his test mates finally got started. Not that it mattered, he reached the first robot. 'Looks kind of like a scorpion.' He vaulted upwards, landing ontop of the thing, dodging a tail strike. He let his eyes roam, he saw the security hatch quickly and kicked it open. Jabbing his right stick into it, he tore through the wires, causing the entire beast to collaspe. He rolled off it at once, using his skills to parkour upto the nearest roof.
All of a sudden, just beneath him, A one-pointer smashed through a wall in a dramatic fashion.
" My next victim, lovely!" He actually giggled before dropping down onto of it, but before he could get into the security hatch, he saw a button... so, naturally, he pressed it. The robot collasped at once, completely inactive. "Holy balls, these things come with a kill switch? Must be for those with less obvious Quirks, or none in my case. Right on, I can preserve the power of my sticks. This is going to be fun."
"Six-minutes and two seconds left!" Present Mic announced, making him sigh.
"I need to be faster, less excitment more violence... I got this!" And so he shot back onto the roof and shot away, eager to prove his mettle.
Deep in U.A., in a room with a bunch of monitors on the wall, a vast number of great heroes and teachers watched the exam.
One such hero, the legendary Nezu, Principle of U.A., watched with great excitment. "Clearly, the examinees have no idea how many villains are present or their location. They have limited time, must cover a vast area, and hunt down every last target. Some use information-gathering abilities to plan out strategies," Principal Nezu said as he watched a boy form various sensory organs with what appeared to be tentacles attached to his arms.
"While others rely on speed to pull ahead of their peers." A boy with engines coming out of his legs blasted through a robot, making Nezu smile as he remembered the boy's brother and his test had gone years ago. "Of course, remaining calm under pressure can be a huge advantage."A boy with a belly button laser and a flashy out appeared next, looking into the camera with a smile. "As can pure power and combat ability." A wild boy with bloodlust filled red eyes was then seen among the wreckage of destroyed robots. "The most successful students use a combination of all these tactics. They're the ones who rack up the highest scores." He finished, as his eyes turned to a boy with green hair, carrying what looked to be escrima sticks, almost dancing around various robots, flicking off their switches with said sticks or frying their innards with the same sticks.
"Hm, I'd say this year's group looks promising," Midnight said, a pleased look on her face.
"Well, there's still plenty of time before it's over. The real test has yet to come. Let's see how they react," Snipe said, reaching out and pushing a button.
Nezu almost giggled, this was his favorite part... but to be honest this year he was more excited then ever. A Quirkless boy had applied to be a part of the hero program, the same green haired boy using the escrima sticks. Modified by his own hand, according to the letter he had sent in asking to be allowed to use them in place of a Quirk. To say Nezu was anything less them impressed would be a bold faced lie.
Why was he excited though? Simple, he hated bias and the Quirkless boy no doubt had suffered from the bias against people like him. To succeed, he would have to work exceptionally hard, harder then everyone. It was clear, from the Notebooks on Analysis ( Nezu had eagerly red those personally) that the boy was incredibly intelligent which only made him more exciting to watch.
'But how will he handle this test? Oh, I cannot wait to see what he pulls off... I so want him to be a hero, if only to show that Aizawa was right about this exam to the Board of Directors... and to show the world there is more to being a hero then raw power... so show me what you can do, Izuku Midoriya. Show the world what you are made of.'
'''''
"Fifty three points!" Izuku wanted to pass out, he was exhausted. He had pulled out all of the stops to defeat the robots, as many as he could find, flipping switches and frying many. It was hard work, but his parkour skills made dodging strikes easy since the robots were slow and bulky, clearly meant to intimidate more then anything. Still, he felt like one big bruise, but he had managed to imobolize a huge number of them all on his own. No students had said a word to him about his sticks, to his shock, he figured they assumed it was to channel his quirk. "I hope that's enough, don't know if I can do more."
Naturally, his wishes were not granted as the entire arena rumbled. From a cloud of smoke and dust not far away, a massive robot erupted from the ground... the Zero pointer was there.
"Think of it as a hurdle you should try to avoid. I recommend my listeners try to ignore it and focus on the ones topping the charts." Izuku remembered Present Mic saying earlier...
But he wanted to fight it... he wanted to show that he could do something that drastic...
Problem was getting to the kill switch or the security hatch... thank the gods for Parkour! He shot towards it as the other kids ran away in terror, ready to unleash a can of whoopass... ignoring entirely the fact that when it punched the ground the entire arena shook like a leaf in a storm.
"Less than two minutes remaining!" Present Mic announced but thaet didn't matter as, just a second later, he heard a girl call out in pain.
Turning to her, he saw a pretty girl trapped with her feet caught in rubble. She was maybe two hundred feet from the Zero pointer and about to be smashed. As sure as he was that the teachers could stop the robot, there was no way they'd allowed it crush a potential student, something cracked in Izuku and he leapt into action. There was no way he'd reach the girl in time...
So stopping the robot was the best option.
With all he had, ignoring his exhaustiona and pain, he climbed the nearest building, vaulting from it to the robot. It was slippery but he managed to get onto a leg, where he climbed as fast he could. Eight months of practice made this easy and within seconds he was ontop of the thing. He saw the Security hatch easily, but no kill switch...
Which meant this had go the hard way.
'Shit, this might fry my sticks out... actually I might have to just dump them in the damn thing... damn, I just finished them this week... fuck, I'll just have to have them repaired at school... have my footage here used to present them.'
Rushing over to the hatch, he smashed his sticks down, making a dent and lifting the hatch enough to get his fingers under it. Yanking it open, he rotated the dial on his sticks to the highest level and dropped them home before running away. The electricty from his sticks melted through the wires in an instant and within seconds there was a fire. Smoke began to erupt from various seams on the robot, sparks jittering off of the edges.
Izuku felt his shoes start to melt as the robot overheated, so with all he had he blasted off of the robot and rolled as he approached the nearest roof, feeling his back get scraped badly by loose gravel, but that didn't matter, he had destroyed the damn thing. Shaking, he managed to stand just in time to see the robot collaspe, swaying into the building across from him, crushing it entirely before making the entire ground rumble. Izuku had to steady himself as cracks formed around him form the force of the blow.
Once all had calmed, he walked over to the edge of the building and smirked at the terrifed, amazed faces of over a dozen people including the douche from earlier and pretty girl who was no longer trapped.
Before he could wave cockily at them, cheers erupted from all around him. He definitley blushed, thankfully he was pretty far away so no one could see it.
'I did it... Mom, I did it... there is no way they'll turn me away now...'
Maybe, just maybe he had to wipe away some tears as overwhelming pride hit his soul all at once. He didn't let that stop him though, as he knew the girl might need some medical attention. Without hestitation, he jumped down, using the robot to safely get to the ground so he could help the girl out. He knew how to bandage wounds and asses them, he could at least tell her if she broke something and make sure she got to a nurse or something safely...
It's what a real hero would do...
And that is what he was... or would be...
A Real hero!
:::
Iida hadn't thought much of the boy he called out before, he seemed like he wasn't taking anything seriously and well... Iida wouldn't stand for that. Of course, that ended up with the kid coldly calling him out for his hypocrisy, something Iida had rarely experienced. He knew he intimidated most people, so it was...hard to take. Still he didn't seem like much...
So, he had barely bothered to watch as the boy when he fought the various robots, not seeing him as too much of a threat. Something he regretted the moment he watched the boy easily scale the giant robot in seconds with a skill Iida knew he could never replicate. He had thought the boy mad, no one could defeat that thing... and then the boy did just that, destroying the robot from the inside and setting it ablaze somehow before rushing of...
All, apparently, to save a fallen girl...
The cheers of the various students fell pale on Iida's ears, his mind running as fast as his legs could move him,
'They're all missing the point. Don't they see what he did? He sacrificed everything. Just to save that girl... he must have known they wouldn't have really allowed for her to be injured, that he was wasting his time by destroying that robot... But despite those concerns, he didn't hesitate to jump and he actually defeated it without injurying himself! If this hadn't been an exam... Then, of course, I would have done the same thing! Wait. The exam... The judges... They saw that,' Iida thought to himself.
"Very nice, good work all around. " Iida turned and saw a tiny, elderly lady in a doctors uniform approaching them. "You're heroes in my eyes, every one of you. Here, reward yourselves. Have some gummies." She handed a boy some gummies, smiling kindly.
"Oh, uh, thanks."
"Yes, yes. Don't eat them all at once, okay?" The women said as she approached the Green haired boy who was tending to the fallen girl, bandeging her ankle with a practiced hand.
"Thank you?"
"That mademoiselle, she's the heart of UA," a boy with a strange belt said. "The youthful heroine, recovery girl! Her quirk is a tres awesome boost of healing power. She's the only reason UA can hold these reckless exams."
Iida turned his attention back to the women, who was now examing the girl's leg. "A wonderful bandaging, even and not too tight. You have experience with first aid, sonny?"
The boy smiled. "Red cross and I am self taught. When I was training I hurt myself a few times slipping while practicing parkour. If there is one thing I am good at, it's bandaging."
The women laughed. "Oh well, that's a good thing... hmm... come speak to me if you get into U.A., it is a rarity to find heroes that know how to patch others up."
The boy beamed. "I would be honored!"
'I wonder... what if the exam has other parameters I didn't take into account? It's possible,' Iida thought.
"""
All Might was rarely genuinely shocked, especially to this level. A boy, a Quirkless boy, the same one he had saved almost a year prior... he disarmed not only dozens of Robots all on his own, but seemingly decimated the massive Zero pointer all on his own with nothing more then fancy sticks and some parkour. It was incredible...
'I was wrong, Young man... you are more a hero then many Pros, so many ran and you faced this challenge straight ahead and without fear. I am so sorry... I had wanted to talk to you but I could not escape the media. I failed to help you, to offer you One for All like I wanted. I had no choice but to give it to Young Togata, I was running out of time... I will apologize to you, you have earned that and so much more... I need to make up for my poor words, the bitterness that I allowed to leak into my soul...
I pray you can forgive me for what I said to you...'
''''
Izuku happily munched on his dinner, pleased with himself beyond measure. "My letter is coming today according to the forums! I am so excited, but it's terrifiying at thet same time, you know?"
"I know, waiting for the results is terrible but I am so proud of you! I still cannot belive you took down a skyscapper sized robot with just your sticks! I haven't even seen a fully trained hero do something like that!" his mom said, her eyes wide with pride and excitment. "I am so glad they sent me a copy of the video from you exam when I asked or I would have never believed it, it sounded too amazing to be true!"
He giggled."It was fun but scary... it's a pity my sticks were fried from the exam, I mean I still managed to get them back but their toast. Still I showed my stuff off so I think that helps!"
"It better have and if it didn't I sent your exam to six different hero schools." She smirked at his shock. "My baby will be a hero, no one will stop that. What you did was incredible and I have no shame in saying that! I am going to check the mail, I'll be right back!" Not even a minute later, His mom slammed open the door. "A letter, Izuku. They came, Izuku. Look! You got a letter! They're here. Your test results from UA!" his mom said excitedly,e her eyes wet with pride.
He opened it the moment it was placed in his hands. A disc fell out of the envelope, shocking him and his mother as a projection of All Might appeared from it.
"Booya! I am here as a projection now!" All Might said.
Izuku yelped. "Wait, All Might? But this is from... UA, isn't it?" he questioned.
"I know it's been a while, Young Midoriya, but with great power comes a great amount of paperwork—my apologies, young man. The truth is, I didn't come to this city just to fight villains. You're looking at the newest UA faculty member."
Some resentment filled Izuku, not liking the idea of being within a hundred feet of the man who had destroyed his dreams no matter how much of a point he had at that moment...
"Huh? Yes, what's the matter? Who's showboating? Oh, sorry. I'll wrap it up, but I have to show him something first. Wait. I have to do how many of these things?" All Might said talking to someone off-screen. "Right! So, moving on. You passed the written exam with a perfect score, the first perfect score the school's ever had. In fact they were so shocked they went over camera footage to make sure you didn't cheat. They actually want you to take it over again, a new test when you come to school and they want to asses you for an intelligence or Analysis quirk despite your Quirkless status. Nezu had requested that you see him an hour before school starts on your first day for that very reason, so keep that in mind... "
Inko chuckled. "My baby is smart, get over it All Might." Izuku beamed happily, his heart aching with pride.
"I have another surprise. Here! Look! A short clip for your viewing pleasure!" the projector showed a screen.
"Um, do you have a sec? Sorry to interrupt." Uraraka, the pretty girl he had saved, appeared at a door way talking to Present Mic.
"It's that nice girl, the one I saved Mom. I hope she's okay... Recovery girl said she just strained and bruised her ankle..."
His mom smiled. " I am sure she is fine, baby."
"She showed up after the exam to talk about you, young man," All Might said, drawing their attention once more. "What did she have to say? You'll have to stay tuned to find out!"
"You know that boy with the really messy hair and all the freckles? It's hard to describe his face. He's kinda plain looking. Uh, doesn't really stand out or anything, you know?" Uraraka asked Present Mic.
He huffed there, as did his mom. "Please, I am as sexy as it gets." His mom giggled loudly.
"I was wondering. Would it be possible to give him some of the points I earned in the exam? I mean... I am sure he did well, I saw him beat a lot of robots... but he destroyed the big robot and saved me! He has to get something for that, you know?" His heart swelled, happy to be recognized by at least one other person... it wasn't a feeling he was all too used too. "He saved me. I have to make it up to him. Please, sir! Can't you just... give him my points!" Uraraka said.
His mom sighed. "I like that girl."
"Thanks for showing up to the station with your request. But there's no reason to give him your points. The kids chartin' extremely well on his own, little listener and trust me, defeating that robot and saving you did a lot more for him then you realize." Present Mic told Uraraka, patting her head.
The screen turned back to All Might. "This is what my alma matter is all about. Training those who would risk their lives for the greater good. So, we have rescue points. A panel of judges watches, and they award points for heroic acts beyond just fighting villains. For saving Uraraka and patching up her wounds, without injurying yourself... Izuku Midoriya, Seventy Rescue points! You both passed the exam, just so you know. " All Might said, a screen behind him showing their points...
Izuku choked, tears exploding from his eyes and his mother's as he saw his points...
One hundred and twenty three points... beating the Second place, Bakguo who stood at Seventy Seven points, by fourty six points...
He had the highest score...
"This is the highest score we've ever had actually and it came from you, a quirkless boy who selflessly saved another examinee... Welcome, Izuku. You have made it. You're now part of the hero academia," All Might said. "Actually, you were also accepted into the Support classes, a fact that will be explained in more detail by Nezu. I know you were probably expecting to have to take more tests, presenting your equiptment but everything you submitted was so impressive, alongside your scores, you were accepted immediately... congragulations, Young Midoriya... you made it."
The projection ended and Izuku fell back, sobbing harder and louder then he ever had. His entire body wracking harshly, his head aching from the force of his sobs.
Everything he worked for, all he strived to do... he did it! And he topped the charts on every field, he even had them suspecting he was cheating he did so well...
He couldn't beleive it...
His mom's arms wrapped around him as they both sobbed, absolutely and utterly destroyed in the best way by this most phenominal of news...
:::
Inko enjoyed, for once, the sound of her baby's sobs. He did it, he accomplished his dreams, beat everyone even Katsuki and broke records...
He would be a hero to remember...
No one could stop him and Inko would be by his side the entire way.
Of that, she vowed...
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This is an epic story and I am so proud of it! I wasn't going to make him first place originally, at all actually, but it felt so right with what he did... I mean he got by in canon at seventh place with just Rescue points, and Bakugo got first with just villian points so with both at a high level... It just felt right.
Mineta got in, in canon, by imobolizing the Robots with his balls. Toru got in by turning off the robots with kill switches, which is where I got the idea. The Kill switches are canon! I did not make the test easier for him... It is all canon.
I know generally what the entire story will be like but I am having trouble with the Stain arc if anyone has some suggestions...
I hate how everyone does the Tournament arc exactally the same...so expect fun with that.
Not everything will be super easy for him, but he works harder then everyone and is super smart so we get to see this projected in his results... he will struggle and he will fail, just not all the time.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
