Chapter 3: a near-fatal accident
It's 6:00 am Bill walks down to the common area of the common room to find Harry sleeping on the couch, Elisa sleeping in the chair, and Skylar curled up by the fire an open book still in her hand from where she had fallen asleep reading.
"Alright everyone time to get up and get ready for classes we have to be in the great hall for breakfast by 7:00 am" Bill shouts and wakes the entire Gryffindor house
"Hey Bill, I'm dressed already, and so is Harry can we go on ahead down to the great hall already I want to talk to him," Skylar asks 5 minutes later
"Skylar you know we are all supposed to walk down together or at least in groups of 3," Bill says as he wakes the twins yet again and forces them to get dressed
"But Bill" Skylar says
"Skylar no buts you know the rules better than anyone not unless you get another person to come with you," Bill says
"Who cares about rules" Elisa says twirling her hair between two fingers
"Alright Elisa since you are ready why don't you go with them to the great hall and try to find that Wyx kid," Bill says
"He's headed to the great hall," Elisa says
"Then all three of you catch up with him and get to the great hall before the teachers do so no one gets in trouble" Bill says
"Sure," Elisa said "I need to go See Dad anyway"
"We can stop by his room on the way," Skylar says grabbing Harry and Elisa by the hands and rushing out of the common room before Bill could change his mind
"Well, how mad do you think Dad and Mcgonagall are now that they know we were out after hours?" Elisa says Skylar could tell Elisa was not going to call her Guardian Professor Snape.
"Well let's just say I am in for a long lecture from Minnie and probably going to get my photo album and my prank kit, and my dad's broom, and mums amulet taken away" Skylar says holding up her purple amulet out of her shirt for Elisa to see
"Dad is going too lecture about me not being like my father" Elisa says
"What's so bad about being like your parents?" Skylar says
"My father was an 'ignorant numbskull who couldnt tell one end of his wand from the other' according to too Dad" Elisa says doing a perfect immatation of the potions master
"No offense but I wouldn't believe that, also ask Mooney about him, oh and I wouldn't let anyone talk about my parents like that, not even the person raising me, and no matter what do you love your dad?" Skylar says
"Mooney will only tell me about my mother," Elisa says avoiding the question
"Oh well, I overheard my dad's picture talking to the picture of Mooney in my photo album, they were talking about your dad it sounded to me like he was a pretty great and fun guy" Skylar says
"All I know is my dad is in Azkaban," Elisa says
"Maybe he's innocent" Harry says chiming in after hearing the entire conversation "happens all the time in the muggle world innocent people get convicted and imprisoned all the time"
"Dad says he confessed too the crime saying "I killed them" Over and over again" Elisa says
"It could have been grief, and shock that caused your dad to say that" Skylar says
"I'll talk to him" Elisa says "Maybe I can guilt-trip him into telling me who my father is"
"Or who it is he supposedly murdered," Skylar says
"13 muggles and a Wizard, the only remains was a finger" Elisa says as they reach Snape's bedroom
"Woah that is a lot of people he was accused of killing," Harry says as they find Snape wasn't in the room and they see a do not disturb sign on a room inside the bedroom, at second glance they see the door closing and Elisa is gone. She had completely ignored the Do not disturb
"Harry let's go wait for her outside the room" Skylar says
"Elisa Do not disturb means strictly do not disturb" Snape says walking out with Elisa "Mr. and Miss Potter what do you need at such a dreadful hour of the morning" Snape sneered
"N… Nothing Professor Snape, we just came with Elisa" Skylar says clearly nervous and looks to Elisa for help
"I drug them with me Dad, Can I have some coffee. I think you need some more too" Elisa says Cheerfully
"Do you really believe I'm going to give you coffee young Lady, Which reminds me. I heard you and Miss Potter had a little excursion last night" Snape says
"Um not really" Elisa says
"It was my fault Professor, It was my idea, I shouldn't have drug her with me but I didn't want to be alone in the dark" Skylar says trying to take the blame completely
"Do I need to remind you on how a proper Princess should behave?" Snape tells Elisa, "You are not you're father and I will not have you acting as a dunderhead like he was, Miss Potter do not take blame for things that are not your fault, she is as much at fault as you are"
"It was my fault Professor really you can take a sample of the magic and compare it to mine it is a 100% match" Skylar says
"I will hear none of this Potter, Now Off you three go" Snape says "Elisa, we will continue this talk latter"
"It really was my idea and my magic though" Skylar whispers to Elisa as they leave
"But I added the glitter" Elisa says not bothering too whisper
"Come on "Skylar says all of a sudden a tail and Wolf ears pop up on Skylar "Oh Merlin my ears and tail are showing, no this is bad Minnie always tells me to keep them hidden oh no there she is now what do I do I can't make them disappear" Skylar says starting to freak out
"I don't know" Elisa says
"Yeah well Minnie is going to freak when she sees this and she is walking this way" Skylar says
"Here" Elisa pulls a hat out of nowhere and puts it on Skylar's head covering the ears
"And this can hide the tail," Harry says throwing his robe over her tail
"OHHH BOOKS!" Elisa says happily
"Yeah my favorite place in the castle lets duck in here before Mcgonagall sees me" Skylar says
"Let's go" Elisa says running in she notices that a large amount of the books are gone and the restricted section door is ripped from its hinges "Oh no" Elisa says "This isn't good, the good stuff is gone"
"Oh boy I have a feeling Wyx is in here" Skylar says
"Wyx!" Elisa yells loudly looking for him leaving Skylar and Harry behind as she goes into the restricted section
"Hey when you find him I think something is wrong with Skylar, she isn't moving and her eyes are flickering," Harry says waving his hand in front of Skylar's face
"Hey! Boy where are you" Elisa says as she picks up a book and within moments it's consumed by darkness and vanishes
"Fuck off unless you want to lose a limb" Wyx says "Let me eat my books in peace
"Okay you bastard," Elisa says "it's time for breakfast, and leave some for the rest of us." Elisa holds out her hand and a flicker of orange appears on her finger tips
"I ain't going to that damn hall for breakfast' Wyx says
"Sorry but you dont have a choice, we will lose points if you dont come" Elisa says
"So what" Wyx says shooting a flame at her
"Expellarmus!" Elisa yells her spell meeting Wyxs, and Elisa's paw print Amulet begins to glow
"Die" Wyx shouts shooting flames at her once more
"Just what I thought, You're a dark Wizard," Elisa says
"LEAST I'M NOT A BLOOD TRAITOR, REDUCTO" Wyx yells the wall behind Elsa explodes
"Hey guys can you stop fighting for a minute cause Skylar just collapsed on the ground and is shaking really bad plus a pair of wings just appeared" Harry says
"Fine but after that I am gutting this traitorius Mutt" Wyx says
"Traitor, who are you calling Traitor" Elisa says her voice cracking
"You bitch" Wyx says
"Guys what do we do?" Harry says
"We gotta take her to the hospital wing" Elisa says her eyes were gleaming and held a look that caused unease in Harry
"How, and where is it?" Harry says stepping away from her
"I'll take the runt" Wyx says yanking her up
"Careful of her wings, Come on Elisa lets go find Professor Mcgonagall or Bill to let them know whats going on" Harry says
"Let's find bill" Elisa says
"Let's check the great hall" Harry says
"He should be there by now" Elisa says they rush out of the library and down to the great hall and find Bill
"Hello you two, you should have been here before us, what took you so long, and where is Skylar and Wyx Bill says
"Got in a fight with a Stupid Demon who was eating books and trying to kill me" Elisa grumles, Bill could feel darkness coming off of her
"Ok well where is he and where is Skylar, don't tell me you left her behind to clean up the mess" Bill says
"He took her to the med wing, she collapsed" Elisa grumbles, she was clearly in a bad mood
"WHAT? What happened" Bill unintentionally screams loud enough for Mcgonagall to hear from her seat
"I don't know I was battling a future dark wizard" Elisa says
"Well go to the hospital wing here's a map to it I will get Professor Mcgonagall and meet you there" Bill says
"I'm fine" Elisa says and she walks off
"Not for You Phoenix, Mcgonagall is going to want to talk to everyone who was present" Bill says
"Well then she can come find me" Elisa snaps and at that moment Bill sees the flames dancing across her hands and up her arms
"Fine you go cool off, I'll find Mcgonagall, come on Harry, you and I need to go check on your sister" Bill says
"UGH!" Elisa yells and runs off leaving the floor behind her smoldering
"Hey Bill, did something happen to Skylar" George asks
"Ooo Elisa's mad" Fred says
"Not now you two, go back to eating and then you and Oliver Wood can lead the first years to their classes, you know the school as well as I do, considering you have had to come here every time Charlie got into trouble," Bill says taking Harry up to the teacher's table to tell Mcgonagall what happened, when she hears this they all three rush to the hospital wing with Madame Pomfrey on the way they run into a wall of flames that blocked the hall and looked too be very thick, In the middle Bill could make out the form of a young girl. The flames had a purple tint to them as well " I suggest we go the long way and let Elisa cool off" he was almost positive it was Elisa
"Elisa, what happened?" Mcgonagall says
"Demon happened" Elisa snarled, The flames seemed too produce no heat.
"Elisa, Calm yourself and go talk to professor Snape," Mcgonagall says
"So he can lecture me about not being like my father" Elisa says
"Ok fine then calm yourself and tell me what happened I promise no punishment will be dealt to you" Mcgonagall says
"wyx was in the restricted section so I followed him and tried to talk too him and he sent a flame at me, I blocked it then he tried to kill me, and then took Skylalr to the Hospital wing on Harry's request" Elisa says the flames starting to flicker out
"Well, come with us and I assure you punishment will be swift on him" Mcgonagall says
"Also Professor, somehow my sister has a Wolf tail, Wolf ears, and a pair of wings that she couldn't make disappear before her eyes started flickering and she collapsed" Harry says, Mcgonagall and Madame Pomfrey look at each other seemingly in horror
"We need to get to her now, that is very bad" Mcgonagall says
"Yeah" Elisa says and she takes off at a run down the hall to the hospital wing, but halfway there they all hear a Pop sound and hear a thud indicating Elisa ran into the wall
"She ran into another wall" Mcgonagall says, they all rush to her but where Elisa should of been Mcgonagall saw a very small and very confused black puppy that had a purple paw print on its chest, that looked just like Elisa's Amulet, and it had the same scar Elisa had through the left eye. With her expertise in Animagus transfiguration, Mcgonagall could see this puppy was Elisa. "Oh dear Elisa, sweetie I need you to think about being a human, and turn yourself back please"
"Why that looks just like….." Madame Pomfrey begins to say but stops herself dead after seeing Mcgonagall give her the "No she doesn't know" Look
"Like who?" Elisa says as soon as she turns back
"Like this puppy, I saw in my calendar last year" Madam Pomfrey says
"Okay…" Elisa said but it was clear she didn't buy it
"Elisa no more running ahead or you are going to keep running into walls" Mcgonagall says
"I only ran into the wall because that happened" Elisa says
"What about the time when you did it when Severus brought you in to get you enrolled in school here?" Mcgonagall says
"He gave me coffee" Elisa says and she walks into the hospital wing
"Just stay with the group from now on" Mcgonagall says and she sees on one of the hospital beds the figure of a tiny wolf brown with black patches all over it with hippogriff wings curled upon it with its eyes clenched shut and it was emitting a quiet high pitch whine "Oh Merlin, how could this happen" she says starting to pace around
"Is that Skylar?" Harry asks looking up at Mcgonagall
"Yep" Wyx says
"She turned into a tiny Wolf cub with wings?" Bill asks
"Yeah a minute before you showed up" Wyx says
"This is bad, Madame Pomfrey you check to make sure she is alive, I will go get Professor Dumbledore, and Hagrid" Mcgonagall says "You four stay here" she says to Elisa, Wyx, Bill, and Harry as she says that a pitch-black owl comes swooping into the room carrying a small Package. It drops the package at Elisa's feet and flies off
"Professor, Who is Foxen Phoenix?" Elisa asks Pomfrey looking down at the label. Foxen Phoenix was a Lawyer and the known Brother to Diana Phoenix and reportedly to be insane and Evil, although no one could prove that. He was also extremely close to Skylar's Father, they were cousins.
"That is a question for your guardian Elisa" Madame Pomfrey says as she leans in close to Skylar
"Well whoever he is, he knows me" Elisa says pulling out two books from the package, A sorcery spell book and a Photo Album
"Do not read those unless you ask Professor Snape first" Madame Pomfrey says
"It's a photo Album" Elisa says
"Well don't open it without Severus giving you permission," Madame Pomfrey says with a worried look on her face "Mcgonagall needs to hurry with Hagrid and Dumbledore, Skylar is fading, and fast" they hear a moaning whine come from Skylar
"Okay fine" Elisa says
"Bill do me a favor and grab that jar of Whomping Willow bark" Madame Pomfrey says
"Whoa" Elisa says pulling something else out of the Box she had gotten, Wyx saw her holding a locket in the shape of a Phoenix
"More than likely he's family to you traitor" Wyx growls
"I'm not a traitor" Elisa snaps at Wyx, her hair lighting fire again. As the shadows around Elisa grow cold and a dark feeling fills the room a feeling of dread
"Professor, what is the bark for?" Bill asks handing her the jar
"To put in her mouth so she doesn't accidentally bite her tongue off, this stuff is tough as nails, plus it has a pleasant lemon flavor so she won't try to puke it out" Madame Pomfrey says taking a piece of bark out of the jar and puts it in between Skylar's jaws "Elisa calm down, Wyx stop calling her that immediately and apologize now" at that moment Bill saw the locket Elisa was holding.
"No" Wyx says coldly
"What the hell did I do too you" Elisa says too Wyx
"I was sitting in the library eating next thing i know you're shooting a spell at me and then this" Wyx growls
"You struck me first" Elisa cries and she runs off
"I did nothing of the sort" Wyx growls and bolts out
"Yeah you did," Harry says "And Professor Mcgonagall said to stay put you know"
"Great he's gone again, Professor Mcgonagall is going to be mad," Bill says "Elisa, show Professor Snape that Locket, before you open it too" Bill, sees Elisa was also gone, having run when Wyx started being mean. "Oh Merlin, now Elisa is gone too, I better go find her, Madame Pomfrey I am going to find Elisa" with that he takes off down the hall screaming for Elisa
"Is my sister going to be alright?" Harry asks looking at Madame Pomfrey who gives him a silent solem shrug informing him she doesn't know
As Bill is running down the hallway he hears soft music coming from inside the Library, he walks in and says "Elisa are you in here stringbean? Come out come out wherever you are"
"No" Elisa says from somewhere in the library, Bill saw a section in between Bookcases that was just small enough for a child her size too fit in.
"Stringbean, come on don't listen to that guy he was just being a jerk, plus I am pretty sure he is possessed or something, he doesn't know the real you like I do" Bill says standing at the edge of the section
"Everyone is always mean to me" Elisa says and Bill hears thunder, he realizes real quick that it wasn't coming from outside as rain droplets land on his shoulders
"Well I'm not, and the twins aren't, and it seems to me that Skylar and Harry aren't, Willow Smith and your godfather and Professor Mcgonagall aren't" Bill says kneeling down to look at her in the eye, in doing so he saw she had the locket open and it was playing a lullaby.
"But everyone else is mean to me" Elisa says
"Stringbean, come on give it another chance, maybe other people who you haven't met yet will be nice to you if you give them the chance to get to know you, come back to the hospital wing with me" Bill says holding out his hand to Elisa she takes his hand and lets him pull her out from in between the bookshelf she was acting the same way she had when she had first met the twins, Shy and closed off, It was something she tended to do when she was upset or scared. "There's my string bean now come on let's go check on your new friend shall we?"
"Y...Yeah" Elisa says softly, Bill picks her up and carries her back to the hospital wing where Mcgonagall was just arriving back to with Dumbledore and Hagrid in tow when they get there Elisa refuses to let Bill put her down pressing her face into his chest
"Right this way, it's just as I told you something is seriously wrong with her" Mcgonagall says gesturing to the tiny cub with wings which lay unmoving on the bed curled up into a tiny ball
"Oh Merlin, this looks bad, can you fix her Hagrid?" Dumbledore says, he notices Elisa in Bills arms and says "Hello dear little one, what is your name? And why do you cower so, we are just some nice people who work here and want to be your friend"
"People mean" Elisa says
"Ah yes people can be mean, but all the ones in this room right now are good and nice" Dumbledore says
"Not Demon" Elisa says not realising Wyx was no longer there
"He's not here anymore he left right after you did Elisa" Harry says " So Hagrid can you fix Skylar?"
"I am going to try but this might be beyond my skill set" Hagrid says "Where is Professor Snape, I need a certain potion brewed as soon as possible" as Hagrid says this Snape appeared in the doorway
"And what would that be" Snape questioned
"I need the Setumaseus potion brewed immediately if possible please" Hagrid says
"Dad" Elisa says reaching for Snape who walked over and took her from Bill
"I guess it would be a good thing I was renewing my stock of that potion, it is in its last stages as we speak" Snape says stroking Elisa's hair
"Wow that is lucky, once it's ready we can fix my sister" Harry sys
"Will someone please tell me why Elisa is acting the way she is?" Snape questions
"Wyx was being kind of a bully to her, we think he might be possessed," Bill says
"Wonderful, her mind is frail against bullies since her time in the orphanage," Snape says "Minerva, I am going to hold Elisa from her classes for today"
"That is fine Severus, Harry, Bill, and obviously Skylar are going to be held from classes today and Skylar and Harry will be held indefinitely until Skylar is better, please excuse them from all work in your class until Skylar is deemed able to go back to normal and handle her normal workload" Mcgonagall says
"Of course" Snape says "What do you plan on doing with the Bully"
"He will be punished accordingly don't you worry, he will have at least 4 months detention" Mcgonagall says
"Elisa may be powerful, but she is very fragile" Snape says
"Yes I understand, you know I care for one who is the exact same way but for different reasons" Mcgonagall says looking over to Skylar
"It seems the potion is ready" Snape says setting Elisa down "I will return with it in a moment" Snape turns and leaves the room, They all hear a whimper and no one can see Elisa.
"Stringbean where did you go" Bill says looking around the room, Dumbledore saw a bit of blonde hair coming out from under one of the many hospital beds
"Dear little one, it's alright come on out Severus will be back in a moment" Dumbledore says
"Eip!" They heard Elisa yelp and then they all heard a pop, Mcgonagall knew she had changed again
"Elisa think about being a human please" Mcgonagall says holding out a cup of coffee for Elisa " You may have this if you come out"
"Here is you're potion" Snape says returning, and handing the potion to Hagrid who opens it and opens Skylars mouth and pours it down her throat, "May I ask where my child went?" Snape questions seeing Elisa was not in sight
"She is hiding under the bed and is somehow a little puppy" Harry says pointing at the bed she is under
"Elisa, Princess" Snape says laying down on the floor to be Eye-level with Elisa "Come on child you need to change back" It takes ten minutes but Snape finally Coaxes Elisa back into being Human and pulls her from under the bed, just as he does they see a flash of purple light coming from Skylars body and look and see she has turned back to mostly human form but her ears and tail are still there, she is unconscious but breathing, Hagrid picks her up and puts her under the blanket on the bed
"Well, It is out of my hands now, Madame Pomfrey she is all yours" Hagrid says
"Dad who is Foxen Phoenix" Elisa asked Snape as he stood up with her in his arms. Snape froze, Mcgonagall saw alarm flash across his face before he hid it.
"A man you do not want to meet" Snape said "A very Evil man"
"He sent her a package with a spellbook and a photo album in it" Bill says purposefully leaving out the locket, so Elisa can keep at least one thing
"I will be taking that spellbook, and checking the photo album for dark magic, should it appear clear I will return it to you darling, if it isn't I will clear the dark magic and then return it to you," Snape says
"Okay, they're in the box" Elisa says
"Is Skylar going to be ok?" Harry asks looking for anyone to give him an answer
"We don't actually know, no one has ever seen this happen before" Mcgonagall says to Harry who looks like he is about to cry, they all just now notice he is clutching the photo album that belonged to Skylar
"Don't worry Mr. Potter, she will pull through" Snape says leaning too his level, Snape appeared to be trying too calm Harry despite them not knowing what would happen, and how much Harry looked like his father
"Severus, I don't think you should lie to him, we don't know what will happen" Dumbledore says
"I have total faith she will pull through," Snape says "He needs to have hope, and that's what I'm giving him" Snape says picking up Elisa.
"Professor, do you think it would be alright for Harry to stay here overnight so he can keep an eye on his sister, to help put him at ease?" Bill asks
"I will see you all later, Elisa and I have someplace to be" Snape says and he walks out his cloak blowing behind him.
"Yes Bill that is a very good idea, and I am going to go inform Mr. Filch that Skylar, and Elisa's detentions shall be delayed until Skylar is fully recovered" Mcgonagall says
