Chapter III: Return of the Dragonborn
"Akeno, are you sure these are the only leads we have for potential peerage members. After my loss to Riser, it is evident that we lack in numbers."
Rias spoke to her queen as the two Great Ladies of Kuoh sat inside the Occult Research Club at Kuoh Academy discussing potential peerage members that could join them.
"At the moment, these are the only people Rias. According to the recon done by Koneko-chan and Kiba-kun in the last two weeks, we have an inkling that those two women are in possession of unawakened sacred gears."
"Very well Akeno, if these two are the only options we have available at the moment, let's go ahead with it. Please arrange a meeting with Murayama Kirishima and Katase Yui of the kendo club, I'll inform Sona about the move."
"As you wish Rias, I'll let the two know you wish to meet them later this afternoon."
Akeno spoke with a smile on her face as the buxom black-haired woman stood up before walking out of the room.
'That makes three new members, I imagine what Felicia-oba-sama meant when she said she had someone for my peerage.'
Rias thought to herself as she remembered the conversation she had with her aunt after the rating game.
{Flashback}
"I would like to thank you again for freeing Rias-chan from the marriage contract Felicia-sama."
Sirzechs spoke with respect in his voice as he looked at the devil sitting across him.
The Gremory's alongside Sirzechs and Grayfia had invited Felicia and her peerage for a dinner at the Gremory mansion.
"You do need to thank me anymore Zechy-kun, I did what I felt was right, I just made use of the opportunity you gave me!"
Felicia spoke with a smile on her face as Sirzechs nodded before turning to his parents.
"I hope you both can understand why I did this, despite being one of the Four Devil Kings, Rias is my little sister, and seeing her upset is the last thing I'd like to witness."
Lord Gremory sighed as he looked at his daughter and then his son.
"I am not mad at your actions Sirzechs if anything I'm proud as a father that you care about your sister so much but you should have informed us beforehand."
"I am sorry father, but I did not believe that you would have willingly backed out of the agreement."
"Now you two stop bickering among yourselves, the issue has been resolved and there is no need for you both to argue. Both of you are correct from your perspectives but let's put an end to this matter and talk about Rias' performance in her first rating game."
Felicia spoke with a smile as Rias quickly turned her head towards Felicia eager to listen to what the House of Leviathan felt about her performance.
"I agree, Rias definitely lived up to her name on the battlefield, despite being heavily outnumbered against her opponent, Rias and her peerage showed a courageous attempt. Taking out eight members of the opponent with just four pieces is commendable."
Venelana Gremory spoke as Rias smiled at the praise from her mother, she couldn't talk to her mother after the rating game ended and was glad her mother felt proud of her performance.
"I wholeheartedly agree with you, Vena-chan, Rias and her peerage were really good out there, especially her Queen Akeno Himejima, I was shocked at first when I heard Baqariel's daughter had become a part of Ri-chan's peerage!"
"I am sure Akeno would love your praises for her, Felicia-oba-sama."
Rias spoke with a smile as Felicia nodded before she turned towards Sirzechs and Rias' parents.
"While we all agree Rias and her peerage did exceptionally well, she surely lacks firepower in her peerage and as discussed earlier I have come up with a good solution for it Sirzechs!"
"Are you talking about the potential rook candidate you had in mind for Rias, Felicia-sama?"
Sirzechs spoke as he turned towards his parents and sister.
"After the end of tomorrow's events, Felicia-sama was polite enough to let me know about a potential rook candidate that could work well alongside Rias' peerage."
"The said candidate in question has been a frequent visitor at my house as he sometimes trains under my rook and pawns, he's named Loup Garou, and is a half-werewolf, half-human. He has trained under my peerage so I can vouch for his skills."
"I am sure that the candidate should be perfect for Rias' peerage if you are the one vouching for him Lady Leviathan!"
Zeoticius spoke as he looked up at Felicia.
"Furthermore, he also lives in the same town as Rias in the human world so it would be easy for them to operate easily. I will get my rook to establish a contact between Loup and Rias"
{End Flashback}
Rias stood up from her seat as she walked up to the window near the east of the club room as she let out a peaceful sigh.
"Not that I have any issues, but you look quite happy Rias!, you mind sharing the joke with me."
Akeno chuckled as he joined her best friend next to the window.
"Ah, nothing much Akeno, I am glad Felicia-oba-sama turned up at the last moment to help me from my situation, other than that, it seems she has also found a potential rook for us."
"Oh my, that sounds like great news, it will be interesting to see the person Leviathan-sama has scouted for us."
The two were interrupted by a knock on the door as Kiba walked in followed by two teenage girls.
"Pardon my intrusion, President. Murayama Kirishima and Katase Yui of the kendo club are here to meet you."
Kiba spoke with a smile plastered on his face as Rias smiled before gesturing the two to take seats.
"Thank you for joining me at such short notice, as you both might already know, I am Rias Gremory a third year here at Kuoh Academy, and the President of the Occult Research Club."
The two girls nodded as they obediently listened to Rias speak.
"I will be honest with you, every person present in the room or involved with the Occult Research Club, we aren't humans."
"Ummm, what do you mean by not human Rias-senpai?"
Katase spoke with a hint of shock on her face while Murayama maintained a stoic expression.
"What she means to say are, these guys are devils!"
Murayama spoke as Rias and her peerage looked at the brunette with a shocked expression on her face.
"If you don't mind me, can I know how do you know that Kirishima-san?"
Rias spoke as she looked at Murayama with a stern expression on her face.
"My father was an exorcist for the church!"
"Umm, can we talk in a language I can understand, cause right now everything is going above my head!"
Katase sheepishly spoke as Rias let out a very brief chuckle.
"I apologize Yui-san, let me ask you a question instead. Do you know about supernaturals and the pantheons?"
"You mean like devils, angels, and all those gods from different religions like Zeus, Odin, and others."
"Astutely correct Yui-san, all those are as real as you and me, so see, all the other members of the Occult Research Club are devils!"
On cue, every one of Rias' peerage present in the clubroom revealed their wings.
"I ain't hallucinating right, this is just a magic trick?'
Katase frantically spoke in shock in her voice as Murayama tried to calm her down as he held her down by her shoulders.
"She isn't lying Katase, Rias-senpai and the Occult Research Club are truly devils that live in the underworld."
Katase looked at her friend in shock as Murayama let out a sigh before she turned to Rias.
"So other than revealing yourself to us, what is the actual reason behind your summon, Rias-senpai?"
"Since you are the daughter of a former exorcist, I am sure you must be familiar with the evil pieces and peerages?"
Rias spoke as Murayama shook her head.
"Hm, so from what I can gather this moment, you want me and Katase to be a part of your peerage, am I correct?"
"Yes, I believe you and Yui-san are sacred gear possessors and would be a great addition to my peerage!"
"Wait can you explain to me, what is going on?"
Katase spoke trying to figure out the conversation unfolding in front of her.
"Well, Yui-san, as you have already been informed all the supernatural beings and gods you've read about actually exist, but a long time back, these groups collided against each other, with different groups waging war against the others, this was known as the Great War."
Rias spoke as Katase diligently listened to the crimson-haired woman trying to grasp everything Rias explained.
"At the end, all sides suffered massive casualties. After the end of the war, there was large unrest in the underworld that led to the devils fighting amongst themselves in a power struggle at the end, the current generation of devils known as the New Satan faction won and formed the current government."
"Wow, so you mean to say that the devils have elections like us?"
Katase excitedly spoke as Rias chuckled at her statement.
"You're mistaken Yui-san, the devils are governed by a group of four devils that are known as the Four Satans of Hell with a council known as the Seventy-Two pillars acting as advisors. So as I said after the civil unrest the devil race was on the brink of extinction and one of the Four Satans, Ajuka Beelzebub-sama came up with a way to reincarnate other beings as devils!"
"Wow, so you mean to say that you devils have the power to reincarnate other species as devils."
"Yes, those are known as evil pieces that allow high-class devils to reincarnate other beings as their servants, the reincarnating system is based on the game of chess."
"Umm, so if you reincarnate me and Murayama, does that mean we are your servants for life?"
"That can be the case, you see reincarnated devils have the option to promote themselves based on knowledge, skill, and power. So if a person is a low-class devil, he or she can with time and effort achieve the rank of a high-class devil and get a peerage of their own!"
"Umm despite that, the idea of being someone's servant for life does not fit well with me."
"I can understand that thought Yui-san but I can assure you that the House of Gremory treats all of its peerage members like family."
Rias spoke as Katase and Murayama turned towards Kiba and Akeno who nodded their heads in agreement.
"Umm before you talk about anything else, can you tell me more about being a devil and all those things and you also talked about me and Muri having something called sacred gears?"
Katase spoke as Murayama looked at her with an amused expression.
"I'll clear your doubts about the sacred gears Katase, you see sacred gears are described as gifts to the human race from the biblical god, it spawns in a very few selected individuals and grants them different abilities based on its type."
"If you don't mind, can I ask you about the sacred gear that you possess, Kirishima-san?"
Rias inquired as Murayama nodded her head in agreement as she stood up from her seat and concentrated as a small bird of ice materialized in front of her.
"This is my sacred gear, it is known as Freezing Archaeopteryx, it is an ice element based sacred gear that takes the form of a talon, it can change its shape on command and allows me control over ice-type magic!"
Murayama explained as Rias nodded along, Freezing Archaeopteryx was one of the few sacred gears that were a sentient being and could operate without the commands from the user.
"Umm, so how do I figure out my sacred gear?"
Katase asked as Murayama's ice talon fizzled back to where it came from.
"It is not that difficult Yui-san, just try to focus and think of anything that makes you stronger and something you would like to protect at all costs."
Rias spoke as Katase pondered for a while before she brought her hands forward as if she was holding a kendo stick, before closing her eyes.
Katase's hands were soon enveloped in a light glow as it before is slowly dissipated revealing a pair of white gloves with flame marks on them.
"I kinda expected more than a pair of white gloves."
Katase pouted as she looked at her sacred gear.
"Do you guys have any idea about what my sacred gear is?"
Katase asked as Akeno walked up to the kendo club member.
"The sacred gear you possess is known as Flame Shake, Yui-san. It allows its user to wield white flames that are stronger than the actual flames, with enough training you can also manipulate the flames into weapons and objects."
Akeno explained as Katase looked at the pair of gloves with newfound excitement.
"As for being a devil, you get a lot of perks Yui-san, being a devil grants you increased lifespan, better reflexes, improved muscular structure, and enhanced senses. Other than that devils are also accustomed to better financial stability, a regular stipend and exclusive to my household, every Gremory servant is granted a small property at any place of their choice."
"Wow, so that's what the elders said when they said about living a devil's life."
Murayama chuckled as Rias and the others just smiled at her comment.
"You can take your time to make your decisions Kirishima-san, Yui-san. Please let me know of your decision."
Rias spoke with a calm smile as Murayama and Katase nodded as they stood up from their seats.
"Thank you for inviting us Rias-senpai, we will let you know about our choices in a couple of days."
The two girls bowed as Rias instructed Kiba to escort them out of the clubroom.
"That was a nice pitch Rias, do you think those two will take up on your offer?"
Akeno spoke as Rias just gave a queen a calm smile.
"Guess we will find out in two days, Akeno."
[SCENE BREAK]
"When I was told I had to accompany you to a mission, I expected it to be near Italy or France, I didn't expect us to travel all the way to Japan, senpai!"
"Come on Sia, it's not like you don't like it here I saw you munching down those snacks in Kyoto when we landed yesterday."
A brunette spoke as he walked next to his companion. He was almost 6'2ft in height and was wearing a white hoodie and black jeans with white sneakers.
His brown hair was kinda shabby with a few bangs falling down slightly covering his light brown eyes.
"I was hungry!"
The said companion blushed as she looked at her senior. She was smaller in height, reaching 5'3ft, and had blonde hair up to her waist. She was dressed in a light blue summer dress and the same colored sandals.
"Oh I guess then you wouldn't like to visit the noodle bar at the marketplace here in Kuoh town, they sell some really delicious noodles."
The brunette spoke as his companion grumbled uttering words like 'Senpai is meanie' and 'Senpai no baka' causing him to chuckle at pat her head.
"Don't worry Sia, we will visit the noodle bar later, but first let's visit my old home, I got the key's from Rina-chan's father and he said we were free to use it as our base for the upcoming months."
"So how does it feel to return to your hometown after twelve years, senpai?"
"Umm, I don't think I can describe it the moment Sia, I mean this place has a lot of memories for me, once we are done settling down at the old house, I'll show you around the town."
The brunette spoke as the blonde nodded as she smiled before grabbing his arm.
"What was that for, not that I mind it."
The brunette chuckled as he felt her chests against his arm as he smiled down at her.
"Well, your aura is ..."
The blonde spoke incoherently as the brunette smiled as he smiled back at her.
"You know that I have enhanced hearing right Sia, but I knew I had an impact on you but I guess we will have to do something about it once we get home."
The blonde blushed at the comment before her face morphed into a grin.
"You seem to forget who is the tamer in situation senpai, be careful what you wish for!"
"If I didn't know you better, I would say you were taunting me there Sia!"
The two smiled at each other before entering a two-storied house with a lawn outside.
The interior was dim with all the furniture covered using clothes that had collected dust with time.
"The switches should be somewhere around here!"
The brunette spoke to himself as he flicked a switch open lightning the hall, revealing a sofa set, dining table with few chairs, and some paintings and decorations on the wall.
"Are you sure that the higher-ups got the apartment ready to use because from what it looks, no man has stepped foot inside this place for years now."
"I think there might have been some sort of communication gap, but it's nothing a few hours of work can't fix, I will get us the groceries and stuff while you make sure to order anything that you think is missing, and do not go overboard with the cleaning magic as you did in France."
The brunette chuckled as he walked out of the house leaving the girl to grumble to herself about idiot dragons.
[SCENE BREAK]
"Hmm, since we are posted here for a long-term mission, I guess I should get us stuff that could last us for at least a couple of months."
The brunette from before spoke to himself as he walked across the food section of the supermarket.
"We surely need like lots of cheese, some tofu would be nice as well, and I could also get us some short ribs or chicken for dinner tonight."
He picked up few packets of shorts ribs and tofu from the freezer as he went ahead grabbing himself a big block of cheese.
The brunette's expression suddenly changed as he developed a frown on his face,
'I need to move out of here quickly, I expected to meet them sooner or later but I didn't expect it to be this soon!'
He thought to himself as he grabbed a pack of milk and a box of eggs before swiftly walking out towards the checkout counter.
The lady at the desk smiled as she went through his stuff before handing him the bill.
"Thank you"
The brunette smiled as he quickly smiled his card as he turned around only to collide with a short white-haired girl dressed in a school uniform.
"Umm, sorry I didn't see you."
The brunette smiled as the girl looked at him with a stoic expression on his face before nodding as she went ahead to get her items billed.
'Shit!, that was her, I hope I suppressed my aura enough to avoid any suspicion.'
The boy thought to himself before he quickly walked out of the supermarket only to be stopped by the white-haired girl who was now tugging on his arms.
'There goes my cover, why can't I have peace for a single day.'
The boy mentally cried to himself as he looked at the girl with a confused expression.
"You dropped your wallet, the lady at the counter told me to hand it over."
The girl spoke in a low voice as she handed him his wallet.
"Ah!, thank you so much."
The brunette spoke as he looked down at her grabbing his wallet as he put his back inside his back pocket.
"I'll take my leave, thanks for the wallet once again."
The boy spoke as he gave the girl a smile and walked out of parking lot.
The white-haired girl stared at his back as he left the parking lot before mumbling to herself.
"Dragon"

Regarding adding Loup Garou to Rias' peerage, I think it might be better if I introduce him early since he can easily fill the current void. I do have a plan for the others.
Murayama and Katase might join later, cause I always thought it was weird for anyone to instantly agree to give up their humanity. So it makes sense for them to delay their decision. Their sacred gears are actual sacred gears from the light novels.

Midori has long black hair that falls down to her butt. Upfront she ties up her hair in locks that slightly cover her purple eyes. She has a slim figure and is an ideal description of Japanese beauty. She is often seen wearing a shrine priestess outfit.
Personality
Midori is a very shy and modest person who gets riled up when someone talks about her clan. Nevertheless, she is hot-headed at times. She cares about her friends and family but can be stern and scary with them when needed. She also deeply cares about Felicia and her fellow peerage members and will protect their reputation at all costs.
Abilities and Powers
Magic Manipulation: Hailing from a reputed onmyouji clan, Midori has almost perfect control over her spells and elemental manipulation. She can create any object with almost any element in existence.
Archery: Midori is immensely skilled when it comes to the art of archery, she is one of the most renowned archers of the Kazehara clan even at her young age. Midori can shoot arrows made up of any elements from almost any range that is under her vision. Her aim is almost perfect and she rarely misses her shots.
Healing: Midori possesses the power to heal the injured from any state of physical damage, while the healing takes a heavy toll on her, she can heal a fully severed limb within seconds.
Fortification: With her excellent control over her magic, Midori can create impenetrable barriers that can hold attacks from Ultimate class devils.
