Izuku sighed as he kicked a lone pebble before he looked up and saw the sight of a familiar beach. Taking a deep breath, he stepped onto the sandy surface and looked around, "Midoriya," he looked back to see his idol and mentor standing a few feet behind him, slowly stepping towards him, "I must say, I'm surprised to see you out. I kind of thought you'd be home, trying to cope with all that's-"
"Yeah…the thing is, All Might, my mother…she set up some kind of…marriage contract with Uraraka, Asui, Ashido, Jirou, Hagakure, Yaoyorozu, the female students of class 1-B and a villain and…I'm just…really confused right now as how she knew these people," Toshinori hummed as he rubbed his chin, "I mean…I'm happy my mother was doing this to look out for me and everything, but…why did she have to die in that accident, All Might?"
"The thing is, Midoriya…life is full of ups and downs, and sometimes, the downs take us by surprise, but wallowing in despair is something heroes don't do. You should always remember that your mother was there for you growing up and that she wants you to be happy, even when she's gone," the two stared out towards the ocean, "I know the pain you're feeling…my parents were killed right before I received One for All and shortly after that, my mentor gave her life to save mine…it was those days that I realized that not everyone can be saved, but even through they're gone, they're still with us, and your mother doing this…bizarre contract is her final act of kindness to you, just to make sure you're happy and taken care of,"
A breeze blew past successor and predecessor before Izuku sighed and shook his head, "I know you're trying to help, All Might, but my mother…she raised me ever since my dad went overseas and she believed I could be a hero, even without a Quirk…I don't know,"
The former Symbol of Peace inhaled slowly before he rubbed Izuku's back, "I know, but you know I promised your mother that I'd look after you after UA converted to dorms and right now, I think the best move for you is to trust your mother's final will and testament. She wants you to be happy and if this is the way she think's is best then I believe it'll be in your best interest to trust your mother on this one,"
Izuku groaned as he sat down in the sand. Toshinori took a deep breath as he sat down beside his successor and looked towards the ocean, "Look out at the ocean, Midoriya. Think of the creatures that live in it, many of which helps one another without even realizing it," Izuku looked at him in confusion, "Now think of yourself as one of those creatures. Your mother is allowing you to explore the entire ocean on your own, but she requests that you bring a few other creatures to keep you both company and safe on your travels while you learn about life,"
"That's got to be the strangest metaphor I ever heard in my life, All Might…but…I guess I can see what you're trying to say," Izuku sighed and shook his head, "Like the past users of One for All…we help each other out and my mother just wants to ensure I'm not alone…is that it?"
"That's exactly it, Midoriya," Toshinori smiled as he stood up, "Now you better get going. Everyone is probably wondering where you are and being alone after something as devastating as this isn't a good idea," Izuku hummed and nodded before he stood up, turned and walked away.
Toshinori sighed and shook his head, "There is hope of him becoming the next hero, and this trial in his life is just another hurtle to jump over," he then turned and walked away.
