Candace smiled peacefully as she rehearsed the lines of her favorite play, The Princess Sensibilities.
""To think... To dream... Whether 'tis nobler to love, I know not.""
She sighed dreamily as she glanced at the cover of the script. "Ah, The Princess Sensibilities. My favorite play."
Noises were heard from outside, and Candace growled and stomped out. "What is going on out there?!"
She stomped into the yard and onto a miniature movie set, crushing the monster toy that was disturbing her afternoon. She glared at her younger siblings. "Would you keep it down out here?! You guys ruin everything! I am trying to practice the art of acting. And I will not be disturbed by your little movies!"
"Sorry, Candace." Penny sheepishly glanced down.
"Not so little anymore." Phineas grinned. "Last week our website got 176,000,000 hits."
Linda opened the gate and breathed a sigh of relief, smiling at her kids. "Oh, sorry I'm late. They're filming down the street."
At the word 'filming,' Candace's head shot up. "Filming? What are they filming?"
"A movie version of the play The Princess Sensibilities."
Candace's face lit up like millions of stars. " I would be perfect for that part!" She gasped. "I've been practicing it for my drama club all summer! I'm gonna get DISCOVERED!" She cheered, throwing her script high into the air and hurrying down the street.
"This oughta be interesting," Penny hummed, watching her excited sister with amusement in her eyes.
"That's serendipitous." Phineas said in agreement. He narrowed his eyes and looked around in annoyance. "Hey, where's Perry?"
Candace smiled as she walked into the producer's trailer. The producer was grumbling into the phone, unaware that Candace stepped in. "Excuse me. Uh, Mr. Producer, sir?"
The producer finally looked up and glared at her. " I can't talk to you right now. My lead actress just quit!"
Candace grinned. This was the golden opportunity. " Well sir, this is your lucky day!" She cleared her throat. "I will replace her. Besides, I know her lines by heart. Listen. "To think, to dream, whether 'tis nobler to love, I know not.""
She bowed obnoxiously a couple of times.
" Heh. That's not bad. And you know your lines. Mmm, I don't know." He frowned.
As if guessing immediately what his concern was, Candace smiled. "I'll do it for free!"
At that gesture, the man grinned. "You're hired."
"REALLY?!"
"You bet! With the money I save, I'll be able to hire the hottest new directors in town." The producer turned around and opened his phone. "Hello?"
Candace sighed in excitement as she sat down in her chair in her own spa day for the day. "Wow! I could get used to this!"
A man grinned at her, clipboard in his hand. " Miss Candace Flynn, here's your contract and your bagel. This is Antoine, your dialog coach, Nikki, your swimming stand-in, and your personal trainers Olga and Chicago Joe."
"Candace, baby! Let me introduce you to the directors of this film." The director announced. He took her by the hand and led her out to the back and jumped in surprise at her siblings, Phineas, Penny, and Ferb, being lowered down on the camera director seat. Penny grinned down at her older sister with a wave. "Hi, big sis! Congrats on getting the starring role for free!"
"Phineas, Penny, and Ferb?!" Candace stuttered. "What are you doing here?!"
"We're directing the movie. Our new agent arranged the whole thing." Phineas motioned his hand towards Isabella, who stood by talking into the headset. " Look. My client gets 3% of the gross and a piece of the back end, or he walks. Yeah, that's right. You mess with the bull, you get the horns, buddy."
The phone rang and Isabella answered it. "Hello? Syd, baby, you got that 3rd act in line yet?"
Candace walked up to the manager with a small hiss. " Wait, wait! Don't you think they're a little young to be big-budget movie directors?"
The producer rolled his eyes. "With 176,000,000 hits, they could be in diapers for all I care."
"C'mon, let's get you into that costume!" Penny grinned, hopping off the camera seat and hurrying over to her sister, pulling her into the costume room.
"Aaaaannnd...done! You look both awesome and beautiful!" Penny grinned, putting the finishing touches on her older sister's costume. "And for the last part...this monster hat!"
"Wait, wait wait, hold it a sec, sis." Candace took the hat off and turned to Phineas. "Phineas, I don't remember any monsters in The Princess Sensibilities."
" We just finished the rewrites this morning." Phineas explained, handing her the script.
Candace read the cover and narrowed her eyes. ""The CURSE of the Princess MONSTER"?! That is not what I signed up for! Besides, I can't wear this! No one will see my face!"
The producer nodded at her with a sly smile. "Yes, but in the end, the curse is lifted! And in your big dramatic scene, you will look stunning! This film could make you a star."
"You'll be famous!" Penny added with a wide grin, and almost instantly you could see stars in Candace's eyes as she imagined herself wining awards and leaving her handprints on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and finally, she imagined herself in a newspaper.
Penny waved her hand in front of her older sister. "Sis? Earth to Candace!"
" Hey! Ugly monster! You're needed on the set!"
Candace snapped out of trace and nodded. "I'm coming!" She put her costume hat on and hurried out, accidentally knocking into the wall of the door, her hat falling off. Penny cringed as she watched it from afar, shaking her head, murmuring, "And so it begins..."
Penny stood next to Phineas in the movie studio, listening as her brother gave everyone, including Candace, some directions. "Okay, Candace. This is a very important scene. It is nothing less than the emotional backbone of the whole film. Oh, and the villagers are coming at you with everything they've got."
Penny slammed the movie slate, startling Candace. "Um...what do you mean the villagers?"
"Action! The air force!" Phineas yelled. Candace let out squeaks and yelps of surprise as Penny and Ferb threw air planes and everything the villagers got at them, just as Phineas ordered.
" The space armada from the planet plumbing supplies!"
Candace grunted as a bunch of planet plumbing supplies fell on her.
"Beautiful! That's a print!"
"Phineas..."
Phineas turned to Penny in confusion. "What's wrong, sis?"
She pointed to the movie camera, notifying that he forgot to lift the lens up. He chuckled and pulled the lens off the camera, looking embarrassed as he handed it to his sister. "Oh. That's a little embarrassing. Thanks for pointing that out, sis."
"No prob, bro." Penny whispered back, eyeing Candace guiltily.
"Okay, people, nice rehearsal! Let's take it from the top!"
Candace glanced curiously as Penny helped her settle a banana hat on her head. " Wow! Is this banana hat for some cool tropical dance number?"
Phineas shook his head. " We're trying to come up with some exciting camera angles for the big chase scene. So we strapped a camera on to this starving monkey."
He pointed to Ferb who had just finished strapping the camera on the monkey, and once it was ready, it scraped the floors and ran at Candace at full speed, scaring the young teen. She screamed and flung her hands in front of herself protectively, narrowing her eyes at the beast.
Penny couldn't help but laugh, even if she did feel bad for her older sister. Phineas, who was chuckling as well, walked over to Candace with a sandwich. "Sorry that monkey cam didn't work out. We're gonna try it with Ferb this time. Now take this sandwich and remember, Ferb hasn't eaten lunch yet."
Ferb started scraping the floors like the monkey did, and attacked Candace, who once again let out a scream and hurried off, flinging her hands in front of herself protectively.
Later...
" Okay. In this scene, the monster; that's you, gets attacked by 800 cubic feet of rats, spiders, and snakes." Phineas announced while Ferb munched on the sandwich he retrieved from Candace.
"There is no way I am doing that!" Candace snapped.
Phineas held a snake to demonstrate. "Relax. They're made out of rubber."
Candace sighed and walked off, and Penny winced. "Hold on, Candace, the snakes are actually..."
A crashing sound was heard, followed by Candace screaming wildly, scattering bugs away. "AAH! Get em' off me! Get em' off me! Get em' off me! Get em' off me! Get 'em off me! Get 'em off me! Get 'em off me!"
It took a lot of work, but finally it was near the ending scene of the movie. Candace laid on the bed set while listening to Phineas's instructions. " Okay. Candace, this is your beauty shot. The curse has been lifted, and you are no longer a monster. Now, this scene, is what the heart wants, but the mind can't have. Take one."
Penny snapped the movie slate, and Candace started speaking. ""To dream... To be free of the curse.""
"Beautiful..." Phineas said slowly with a smile. " Keep going." He turned to the mic. "Cue the magical girly dust!"
Ferb, standing above the set, tipped the box of glitter, sending all of its contents on top of Candace.
" "Whether 'tis nobler to be loved..."" Candace let out a sneeze due to the dust.
" Cue wind machine!" Phineas ordered.
Ferb turned it on, and a strong gust of wind suddenly erupted from the fan, and Penny yelped, quickly clinging to Phineas to keep herself from being blown into something hard.
""TO BE CURSED... BY LOVE..." PHINEAS, MAKE IT STOP!" Candace screamed over the wind.
Phineas released one arm from his frightened sister and spoke into the megaphone. "CUT THE WIND MACHINE!"
Ferb turned the fan off, and Candace, who had been holding onto the bed rails for dear life, fell on it with an OOF.
"Okay. Drop the flower petals!" Phineas called.
"Whether 'tis no-" She let out a yelp as toilets, sinks, and pipes fell on her. Phineas and Penny both winced and glanced up to see Ferb standing next to the wrong prop box. "Wrong prop. What the heck. Let's keep it!"
One final sink fell from the box, and Candace let out another oof.
"Sorry Candace..." Penny squeaked, wincing at the sight laid before her.
"Okay people, that's a wrap!"
In the editing room, Candace stood behind her younger siblings, anxiously biting her finger nails as Phineas, Ferb, and Penny tinkered with the videos. "Here's your big dramatic scene, Candace."
Penny pressed play, and what Candace saw made her want to throw up. Literally. There were bruises and scrapes on her, her dress was ripped, and her hair was a pitiful mess, and worst of all, she was stuttering and stumbling through her lines, out of breath.
"To think... To dream-"" Candace panted.
"Cut!"
" Huh? Oh, I'm sorry..." Candace moaned.
"Do it again!" Phineas called.
""To think, to-to stink, to-to-""
"CUT!"
Penny winced and paused the video. She glanced at Candace, who looked pretty upset. "This is horrible! I can't let anybody see this!"
Phineas smiled reassuringly at her. "That's what's called a rough cut. Ferb's gonna fix it in editing. Tighten up the dialogue, do a little voice modulation, play with the filters, and now take a look!"
Penny pressed play again, and Candace's scenery, replaced with live action, and Ashley Tisdale, laid in the bed in her castle, speaking peacefully as intended. ""To think, to dream, to be free of the curse.""
"I..." Candace gasped, and her smile grew wide. " I LOOK BEAUTIFUL!"
"That's what they call movie magic!" Phineas grinned at her.
"You three are the best siblings a great actress could ever have! I love you three!" Candace cried happily, hugging her three siblings tight.
"Aww, I love you too, sis." Penny smiled, hugging her sister. "Glad you like it."
Penny, Candace, and her brothers stood next to the producer in front of the movie theater, where they were releasing a sneak peak of the movie before actually broadcasting it.
The producer turned to them. "We've packed the theater with teenagers. They're our target audience. If they like it, we're in business. If they don't... " He made a slicing sound and imitated cutting his own throat.
Penny winced, scooting anxiously next to Phineas.
A second later, cheering was heard, and the producer grinned. "Looks like we got a hit movie!"
"AWESOME!" Penny grinned.
"Wow! Those kids love it!" The producer grinned.
Candace looked happier more than anyone. "Yay! Super-stardom, here I come!"
However, a second later, groans and complaints were heard, and Penny tilted her head. "What the...?"
" Huh? What's going on in there?" The producer opened the doors, followed by the Flynn-Fletcher siblings, and they were nearly run over by an surprisingly angry crowd of old people, running out of the theaters in a fit. Thankfully, Phineas grabbed Penny and pulled her to him to keep her from being trampled from the raging crowd.
The producer turned to the kids with a sorry expression on his face. "Sorry, kids. They hated it. Movie's dead."
Phineas shrugged with a smile. "Well, at least we had fun."
"Fun?!" Candace squeaked out, looking at him as if he was ridiculous. "What about me? I was gonna be a star!"
Phineas smiled reassuringly at her. "Don't worry, Candace. We saved a copy of your best scenes. We're gonna put it on our website right away."
At home, Candace once again stood anxiously by her siblings as they uploaded the video on their sight, and Phineas grinned as he got the video ready. "Oh boy, this is gonna be great!"
However, the recorded movie was actually the one from before, the set where Candace stomped on. Her mouth hilariously moved in slow motion, growling out the words, "You guys ruin everything!"
A second later, a model of Earth exploded on the screen.
Phineas checked the likes and grinned widely, amazed at the result. "Whoa, check it out! 5,000,000 hits already?! I bet everyone we know saw it! Enjoy it while it lasts, Candace. Fame is fleeting."
"But the Internet is forever." Ferb added.
Penny winced and glanced at Candace, who whimpered, and then fainted.
"Good night, Candace!" Phineas grinned.
Later, while Penny and Candace were out on a walk, they were stopped by some fans on the street. The first boy grinned. "Hey, nice monster you got on the Internet!"
A second boy, acting like a monster attacking a village, imitated Candace. ""Ooh, You guys ruin everything!" He burst into fits of laughter.
A girl and her mother past, and before Penny could say hello, the little girl grinned, pointing at Candace. "Hey, Mom, that's the monster on my computer!"
The mother winced, gently grabbing her daughter by the shoulders and steering her away, all the time giving Candace a suspicious look.
Candace took Penny's hand and continued walking, and once again was stopped by more fans. " I've got it! The Swamp Monster of Danville!" A boy grinned.
Candace cringed and pulled Penny along with her, getting as far away from them as they can. Even though they were far away, Penny could hear the boys cheer: "YOU ROCK!"
"She rocks."
"Yeah."
