Anime Avengers Chapter 4: Meet The Shield Hero, an avengers: earth's mightiest heroes fanfic

In a dark room, with orange holograms popping up all over. A man was seen, silent looking at the holograms of data, and then spoke.

"Display chronal archive 001944. Keyword: Shield." He says as all of the holograms disappear and one giant one appears showing an old historical record.

An announcer's voice ran through the room as the man narrowed his eyes "News from the front. As the Hydra war machine expands its reach, one by one, the nations of Europe fall under its shadow. None so far have withstood the onslaught. But Allied soldiers from across the globe stand together, and as the world goes to war, we recount the tale of Naofumi Iwatani, the man who would become The Shield Hero. Although young Iwatani was very average for a soldier, his fighting spirit wouldn't give up. He volunteered for a secret military experiment and, and the scientist created a shield beyond science creating the first Hero. And now he fights alongside the Allies as a symbol of freedom and liberty for all the world." The hologram then showed multiple news articles of Naofumi defeating Hydra agents "Even now, the shield hero is leading the charge against the dreaded Aultcray and his Hydra forces. Good luck, Shield Hero, wherever you are."

A cargo boat called the Howlers went through the sea getting close to an island where Hydra agents were supposedly taking refuge in.

A bunch of steel girders stuck out of the water to prevent any boat from getting near the island so once they got close enough the back of the boat dropped and the Howling Commandos swam the rest of the way towards the island.

They walked all the way to a graveyard where multiple Hydra agents were hidden. The howling commandos looked up to the sky and saw what looked like a green flare being shot up in the sky. However, on closer inspection, the leader identified it as a missile being launched at them.

"Howling Commandos, move!" The leader shouted as all the men jumped out of the way of the incoming missiles. The Hydra agents opened fire making the team drawback behind statues or graves to block the bullets "We're sitting ducks out here."

Suddenly the Hydra agent stopped firing when his gun jammed, he tried to punch the gun to get it to fire again but he and the gun were then knocked back as a green shield hit them both hard.

Everyone looked back to see Naofumi standing on a statue looking down at them

"Air Strike Shield." Naofumi mumbles "This is the end of the line, boys. Our job is to take down Hydra's science base, and we've already got someone on the inside to get us in. So let's go and take the bastard down once and for all!" The men cheer out at the speech as they all head further to the science base

Meanwhile at the science lab

An old man looked out the window of the science lab with a slight smirk on his face. Everything was going exactly according to his plan. He could even feel The Shield Hero is here. One thing was for sure it all ends today. His thoughts were suddenly interrupted when he heard someone approach from behind him.

"Lieutenant Hohenheim. Report."

"Aultcray, the Allies have found the fortress." A young blond-haired man says "The Shield Hero is with them." He was the young Van Hohenheim

'I know already...' Aultcray thought as he stroked his chin "Send your best regiment out to confront him." Aultcray says as Hohenheim nods and walks out of the room 'He will defeat them, of course, but it will give me time to prepare the specimens. This will be the perfect test.'

As the Howling Commandos and the Shield Hero ran to the Hydra science lab they were met with a bunch of Hydra agents. But they all defeated them with Shield Hero and the sergeant of the Howling Commandos running towards the lab about to cross over to the lab when they were met by Hydra agents.

Naofumi's shield transformed into a rope that was tangled up to have the appearance of a shield. Naofumi held out the shield and the front of it shot out a rope that grabbed onto a Hydra agent. Naofumi pulled back his arm and the Hydra agent came falling towards him. Naofumi swung his arm to the left and the Hydra agent was sent into another and both went off the bridge they were on and into the water.

"They should make that thing a standard issue." The Sargent commented

"Sorry, Sarge." Naofumi said as he adjusted the shield and it turned back to normal "It's one of a kind."

A small piece of metal was thrown onto the bridge. Naofumi looked at it and as it got closer he started to realize what it was. He put his shield up to protect himself and right when the piece of metal hit his shield it exploded.

The shockwave made the whole bridge rumble and cause a small tremor. Naofumi opened his eyes to see that he wasn't too badly hurt by the explosion but the Sargent had been knocked out.

"Jack. Jack!" Naofumi said getting up but was hit in the head with one of the Hydra agents' guns. He looked at the agent and glared at him.

The next thing the agent knew was that he was falling down the bridge and into the water.

Naofumi dusted off his hands before he heard another gun getting loaded. Naofumi brought his attention to the agent to have his gun ready to fire but he couldn't do so as he was then hit in the head by the gate collapsing on top of him.

A woman then stood at the gates with her hands on her shoulders. Her outfit consisted of a hide breastplate, a skirt, lace-up boots, and a pair of gloves. She was Naofumi's partner, Raphtalia.

"Uh- You're late," Raphtalia smirks as Naofumi walks up to her with a chuckle

"Any trouble inside, Raphtalia?"

"There are Hydra soldiers everywhere. I couldn't get into the lower levels on my own without raising the alarm, but I know the way."

"Not a problem." Naofumi says while he runs into the science base "The stealth portion of this mission is officially over." Raphtalia smiled and ran behind him.

They walked through a small hallway to another door at the end of it. Naofumi held up his shield

"Air Strike Shield!" Naofumi yells out as a green shield launches at the door and bursts right through it.

They both then heard a couple of large thuds "I don't think that's the welcoming committee." Raphtalia said, drawing her blade.

Both of them got ready to fight more Hydra agents but neither was ready to see what came out of that door. It wasn't an agent of any kind. It was a giant monster.

It seemed to be a 2 headed dog. It was large as the size of a hippo, maybe bigger and the 3 headed dogs looked angry as all hell.

One of the heads charged towards Naofumi but the man hit the head away before it attacked.

"We've seen weird stuff in this war, but what is that?"

"I don't know." Naofumi said as he hit back another head away before it bit him "One of Malty's experiments, maybe. Either way, it's not happy."

Raphtalia charged at the 2 headed dog's back and stabbed it in the back of the 2nd one's head. The other head then turned back to her and launched forward to bite her but Raphtalia jumped out of the way.

"Air Strike Shield!" Naofumi shouts as a green shield spawns under Raphtalia's feet. Raphtalia jumps off the shield and grabs her sword's handle with 2 hands. She then sliced the 2 headed dog's 2nd head and cut it clean off.

"Shield Prison!" A ball-like cage of shields was then spawned around the 2 headed dogs and trapped the enemy. "Now Raphtalia!"

Raphtalia charged towards the back of the Shield prison drawing back her sword.

"Air Strike Shield!" Naofumi shouts as a green shield spawns in front of Raphtalia. Raphtalia used it as a platform and jumped off it gaining more speed and hit the shield cage with her sword sending it rolling out the base and into the water moat.

"Let's keep moving," Naofumi calls out and Raphtalia nods and they both ran out of the room

Both the heroes then found themselves walking through a lab with monster skulls and experiments that would help Hydra win the war.

"Smart bombs. Nerve gas. Germ warfare."

"Hydra's been working on this stuff for years. Any one of these things could mean big trouble for the Allies." Raphtalia mentioned tapping on the glass that held a monster skull

"That's why we're here. No matter what, we're taking down the Aultcray once and for all."

They walked further down the science lab and Raphtalia found a room in which they both entered.

"What in the world is this, Naofumi?" Raphtalia asked

"I'm not so sure this is from our world."

Aultcray chuckled "You may come out now, Shield. I know you are here. You have arrived just in time to witness history."

Both Raphtalia and Naofumi hear weapons being cocked and both look to see Hydra agents all around them. They were then brought to the lower level of the room where they were met with the sight of Aultcray. One Hydra agent came up and placed a small machine on Naofumi's shield that then released a force field around it.

"What's this?" Naofumi asked

"To block your shield from transforming. After all, we both know it can't be removed from your body." Aultcray says with a smirk

"Still doing Motoyasu's dirty work, Aultcray?"

The man laughed "No. No. I have stopped looking for the relics of this world. Today, I took the power of another one. Ancient mythology told of a realm of supernaturally powerful beings. Beings with powers beyond belief. And all myths have some basis in truth. This cave was the location of one gateway to that realm." Aultcray explained "The Wizards as they call themselves called it Anima. Picture an army of beasts unleashed upon the battlefield. The Allies won't even comprehend the forces that are destroying them." Aultcray said as he turned his attention to all the other caged monsters

"Looks like your pets there would rather gnaw on you than us," Raphtalia mentioned as Aultcray smirked

"We have ways of guiding their choices," Aultcray says as he presses a button on his remote and all the monsters gets shocked by electricity

"What have you done?" Naofumi spat clutching his fist

"What have I done? I have won this war, Shield Hero. Open the portal!" Aultcray ordered and the hydra agent did so. The machine started to charge up and a small portal started to open in the middle of the room.

"Now?" Raphtalia asked Naofumi

"Not yet."

"Sir, we've locked on to a specimen."

"Increase power."

"Naofumi?" Raphtalia says taking Naofumi's hand

"I see it," Naofumi growls as they both look at the portal they could just barely make out the silhouette of a large reptilian type of creature.

"Now!" Naofumi says as he hits one of the hydra agents. Raphtalia kicks a man right in the shin and takes his gun then shoots him in the abdomen. She then fires at the device on Naofumi's shield destroying it and the force field around it.

Hydra agents then fired at the 2 but Raphtalia and Naofumi both jumped out of the way of the hail of bullets and it hit the control panel behind them.

"No! Nooo!" Aultcray roared out

"Aultcray!" Naofumi shouts, punching the man in the face. "Raphtalia, close it!"

Raphtalia nods and runs over to the panel, as more of the creature is revealed from the portal. The lights then suddenly flickered on and off as the monsters were let out of their cages.

From large wolves to giant apes. Everything you could think of that would be considered a monster was in that lab. And those monsters were not happy, they attacked everyone, even Raphtalia, and Naofumi. They both were able to hold them off though same with the Hydra agents.

Raphtalia then dodged out of the way of a sword. "I had hoped to test this blade on the Shield Hero. You will barely be a challenge for me." Hohenheim said as he rushed towards Raphtalia. Raphtalia drew her sword and countered his attack with hers.

"Oh, please, I'm the only one really disappointed here, old man." Raphtalia taunts making Hohenheim grit his teeth

"You dare!" Hohenheim shouts

Raphtalia positions her hand back and springs it forward, jabbing her palm deep in Hohenheim's rib. She then cuts his sword in 2 and slashes his right shoulder.

"See, what a disappointment," Raphtalia says as she runs back over to the control panel.

"Shield Prison," Naofumi shouts as 2 monsters are then trapped in a shield prison.

Naofumi then changes his shield into a heart-shaped shield. A green energy ball formed at the end of it and was blasted at the monsters sending them back into the Anima and back to their home. However the reptilian-like creature finally revealed its head, it wasn't just any creature though. It was a dragon.

"Raphtalia!" Naofumi shouted out as the dragon looked towards him and banged its fangs towards him.

Raphtalia stabbed one of the wires connected to the portal making it completely shut down and closed the portal right on the dragon's head, decapitating it entirely.

Naofumi walked up to the dragon's head and put his shield up against it. The green jewel on the Shield seemed to almost scan the dragon's head and showed up a list of shields he had unlocked.

"No. No! You have destroyed everything! I will have my revenge on you and the world!" Aultcray swore as he ran away

"We have to get out of here!" Raphtalia called out to Naofumi

"Not this time. We're not letting him get away again." Raphtalia nodded as both he and she ran up to the second level to follow Aultcray.

Outside the base on the roof

Both Naofumi and Raphtalia saw Aultcray hopping into a rocket getting ready to blast off.

"There he is," Raphtalia calls out

"Raphtalia, stay here. Secure the fortress." Naofumi orders. He then jumps onto the rocket. As the rocket blasted off and Naofumi climbed up the ladder to Aultcray he heard some grunting from behind him he looked back and saw what he had hoped wasn't who he thought would be there.

"I got your back, Naofumi!" Raphtalia shouts out

"Raphtalia, I told you to st-"

"Yeah, I know. But I'm not leaving your side. We will finish this together." Raphtalia says, Naofumi smiles and nods as they both start climbing up to Aultcray. Naofumi smashed the glass protecting Aultcray and grabbed him.

"It's over, Aultcray."

Aultcray gave a sinister laugh "Finally, we agree." Aultcray says as he pulls a level and is shot up into the air with a parachute letting him fall slowly "Goodbye, Shield hero!"

"No!" Naofumi says. But the response Aultcray said made him narrow his eyes as he looked at the controls. Why would he say it's over if he was just going to escape. He then saw a clock ticking down at 1 minute and 30 seconds. There may not have been a lot of movies with cliches like the ticking clock in the ear Naofumi was in now. But he knew from all his battles a ticking clock like that is always bad news. "Raphtalia, the rocket, we have to get off now!"

Raphtalia however couldn't move because her boot was caught on one of the parts of the ladder.

"I can't!" Raphtalia says trying to get her foot free

Naofumi slides down the rocket and tries to pry her foot off it

"Sorry, Naofumi," Raphtalia says her bangs covering her eyes

"It's fine we can get your foot out. We'll make it." Naofumi says trying to grab Raphtalia's boot out

"No, I mean, sorry," Raphtalia says as water forms on the lower parts of her eyes "But the world needs the Shield Hero more than Raphtalia," Raphtalia tells him kicking him off the rocket

Naofumi looks at the rocket "No! No! Raphtalia!" He could just barely make out Raphtalia giving him a salute before she flew away on the rocket. At that, it gave Naofumi some false hope. Maybe the countdown meant until it was running out of gas. Maybe it would fall into the ocean and Raphtalia would have enough time to get out. That dream was shattered once he saw an explosion erupt from the rocket and the shock wave hit him and launch him back into the ocean. As he looked up he could only think one thing while seeing the water and ice surrounding him. 'Raphtalia.'

The announcer then spoke once again "Today, earth's mightiest hero fell in the line of duty. Farewell, Shield Hero, wherever you are."

The hologram then disappeared and the man spoke once more revealing more of his figure "No. Not where." The shadows then moved to reveal the man, a tall man with green eyes and white-gray hair. He also seemed to be wearing a light blue hospital gown "When."

"Let's keep moving," Naofumi calls out and Raphtalia nods and they both ran out of the room

Outside the base, the man was seen narrowing his eyes at display.

"Forward to time index 3.2." He says as a orange light shines around him and he disappears

"I will have my revenge on you and the world!" Aultcray swore as he ran away

"We're not letting him get away again." Raphtalia nodded as both he and she ran up to the second level to follow Aultcray.

The man then walked on the first level as it crumbled "Ahead 7.25." The man disappeared again

The man was then seen one more time in an orange tube as he floated in midair watching the scene

"I got your back, Naofumi!" Raphtalia shouts out

"Ahead .39."

"Manual control." He says as an orange hologram appears in front of the tube. A button is pressed and the ice capes around the area grow larger.

"Time disturbance in progress." A male voice came from the hologram

"Initiate chronal jump to Damocles base." Another flash of orange light surrounded him and he disappeared

"Report."

"Temporal disturbances reaching critical levels. The fabric of time-space is in the process of rupturing." The male voice said as the man almost made a shocked expression

"Show me." The man said as holograms appeared in front of him and showed him images of a white wave of energy disintegrating everything near.

"My entire timeline- all of reality is being wiped out, and it's all because of you." The man said to a holographic image of the Naofumi. "My travels into the past suggest that you are the link. Some moment in your past heralds the end of the future. Something to do with you. But I saw you meet your end in the 20th century." The man narrowed his eyes as he started to think harder on the matter "How can you be responsible? Unless... Damocles, scan all surviving records from the 21st century."

"Executing." The man said showing one image that interested the man

"Freeze image." He said examining it "Of course. I did not conquer the Earth just to see it wiped from existence. Damocles, prepare the fleet for a time jump." The outside of the base looked to be a giant flying rocket-like windowless building. The waves of white energy started to slowly creep up on it getting closer and closer. "All ships begin a trans-temporal jump."

"Time coordinates accepted."

"Jump in progress."

"What is happening? Why are we leaving Aleister?" A woman with blond hair and a pink dress asked as she walked to the man known as Aleister. For the first time Aleister smiled and walked to her

"Lola," Aleister says, happy to see his daughter but his happiness stopped there when she and part of the ship were enveloped in part of the white energy wave. "No! Damocles, now!" Aleister says grabbing Lola's hand and bringing her to him as the ship then time jumped away from the timeline he was now in "Update."

"The time dissolution has slowed but is still in effect." The male voice says as Lola started to slowly fade in and out of existence

"I'll save you, my daughter. I'll save my timeline, and kill the Shield Hero while doing it." Aleister says looking at the earth back at the 21st century
