Pack of Monster Wolves Charging in!
"Hmm, now let see here..." Laphicet looked around closely at the ground of a farming field for a moment or two.
"There!" Lapchiet thrusted his hand right into the ground reaching in as deep as he can then pulls it out a giant dying root.
"Got another one." Laphicet called out to Astaroth holding up the root.
"Nice job, Laphicet. That makes it the third Roothead roots to find here." Astaroth said as she looks at the wagon with the other two roots.
"Yeah, that root demon must have spread itself further here than we thought. Good thing it didn't damage the corps on the farm." Laphicet relieved as he threw the root with the others.
"Thank you very much for checking on our field, Lord Laphicet." The man in charge of the farm thanked.
"I wasn't sure if anything serious was gonna happen in my farm until you showed up." The farm man said.
"Well, glad to see everything is okay. And you don't really have to call me "Lord" or anything like that." Laphicet said as he doesn't like to think of himself better than anyone else.
"Hmm, it looks like there aren't any more of those roots in the area. That means your field is evil tree demon free." Astaroth announced to the farm man as she had checked the area with her music magic.
"Thank you both very much. I'll be sure to work even hard for the corps so you all can enjoy some tasty vegetables and fruits. In fact, you have some of these now." The farm man handed Laphicet and Astaroth two baskets of fruits and vegetables.
"These were freshly picked early in the morning before you two came here." The farm man smiled.
"Oh, thank you for the generosity, Mister." Astaroth thanked.
"Well, it's time we get going now." Laphicet placed the baskets into the wagon and the two walked away.
"You both have a nice day, Lady Astaroth, Lord Laphicet!" The farm man waved goodbye to them.
"Come on, I just said not to call me Lord." Laphicet exclaimed as he is pulling the wagon.
"You can't exactly blame him, Laphicet. You're a mighty dragon that has not been seen over two centuries with power that could surpass mine and Belial's, befriended the Lord of Calamity Velvet Crowe as a great ally, and you were once from another world. I say, you're the special kind of boy!" Astaroth complimented.
"That maybe the case, but I have only been in this world for about ten whole days now and there are still a lot of things I don't know about." Laphicet pointed out.
"Which is why me, Belial, and Velvet will be happy to help you with that as much as we can." Astaroth smiled.
"Hey Lady Astaroth, Lord Laphicet." Dyle called out walking up to them while carrying a sword and shield.
"Hey Dyle, are you going out hunting or something?" Laphicet asked.
"Not exactly, I'm going out patrolling the area to make sure there aren't any trouble near the village along with three other men." Dyle explained as he taps his shield with the sword.
"Make sure to let us know if anything come up." Astaroth said.
"I know, I know, see you guys later." Dyle said before walking away to meet up with the three other men.
"It's nice to have someone looking out for the village, especially when the people can trust a lizardman like him for help." Laphicet complimented.
"Yeah, Dyle can try his best when he wants to be at times." Astaroth nodded as they made their way the church.
"You know, I seem to have notices that there more humans here in the village with the only demihumans are Medissa, Kamoana, and Dyle." Laphicet mentioned.
"Well, this village has been going through some rough times before Belial and I came here a little over a year ago and the people didn't exactly have any trust with monsters or demons like in the big cities." Astaroth remembered when she and Belial first came to this village and didn't get a warm a welcome.
"Wow, bet you two must've work through some effort to earn their trust and respect." Laphicet surprised.
"It wasn't easy, but we managed to at least be friends with the people within two months and made them open up to others outside of their village like letting other races in." Astaroth mentioned.
"I guess that's when Medissa, Kamoana, and Dyle came in." Laphicet guessed.
"That's right, Dyle was the first when he ran away from the bandit group, he used to be a part of after being betrayed and Belial offered him to live in the village for some help around here." Astaroth explained.
"Wow, Belial must have saw the good in him to give him a chance." Laphicet amazed.
"Not exactly, she hired Dyle as guard was because she gave him the choice of either working in the village or be sent to prison." Astaroth mentioned.
"Blackmail, huh? Still at least Dyle seems to be doing okay with the job." Laphicet said.
"Yep, and shortly after that Medissa and Kamoana came long seeking shelter when I found them almost being attacked by some small demon goats. I took them back to the village where they became the new residents." Astaroth remembered that day.
"Aw, that was very nice of you to do that." Laphicet complimented, making the Mortal Sin of Melancholy blush.
"Thanks. I just thought the village could use something new to liven up their life a bit, Kamoana have gotten along with some of the kids and Medissa have been helping with the laundry and help hunt for meat." Astaroth mentioned.
"I could tell that she is a strong Demihuman, so her help would be great." Laphicet stated.
"So, you two managed to help the village get better from back then to now." Laphicet said.
"We sure have including help the farm growing better corps, but Belial still didn't like being sent to a dead-end village that probably isn't recognize on the map despite how good she helped." Astaroth recalled seeing Belial glaring in one certain direction a several times.
"That is until you came along, Laphicet and made her days here feel better." Astaroth mentioned.
"Well, I guess being a dragon could help boost her reputation a bit, and she has been kind to me ever since you both found me in that forest." Laphicet chuckled.
"Yeah, we were quite surprised to have found a naked humanoid dragon." Astaroth teased making the silver dragon boy blush.
"Did you really have to mention that?" Laphicet asked embarrassed.
"Hey, you two, how was the farm?" Velvet asked.
"Pretty good, we got three of Roothead's remains." Laphicet reported showing the roots in the wagon.
"Good work, that should be the last of that damn plant pervert." Velvet relieved that there are no more of those roots anymore.
"To think some of these survived three days after we destroyed the main body." Laphicet said as he piled those roots with the others.
"Luckily, there weren't that many around the village or in the areas close to us." Astaroth smiled.
"And we wouldn't have thought about even looking for its remains had Velvet not suggested the idea the day after we killed it." Belial recalled as she walks up to them.
"Can't hurt to be sure. Now that has been done, I'm gonna go shopping at the store to see if they got any fresh meat to serve." Velvet said.
"We also got some fresh vegetables and fruits from the farmer for making sure his field is safe." Laphicet showed two of the baskets.
"Ah, guess I can cross those off the grocery list." Velvet smiled.
(With Dyle)
"Okay, nice to see all the areas have been reported clear out. Nice work, boys." Dyle said to the three men with him.
"Now, let's head on back to the village and give our report to the two Mortal Sin women and the Silver Dragon." Dyle ordered, then his instinct suddenly warn him of danger behind him.
He turns around narrowing his eyes through the trees and brushes with his shield up and sword ready to strike just in case.
"Dyle, is everything okay?" Fred asked.
"I'm not sure, I think there's something in the woods." Dyle said without turning around.
"It is another monster?" Joe asked.
"I wouldn't be surprised consider they try coming here because of the Lord Calamity, and I'm talking about the time before she came down from the mountain." Dave stated.
"Well, just be ready for whatever is coming." Dyle said.
Immediately after he said that something big and fierce came out of the brush pouncing on Dyle and would have bitten his neck had he not have his shield up.
"Dyle!" Dave screamed and swung his sword at the creature revealing to be a violet-furred wolf and three times bigger than a normal wolf.
The wolf saw this and growls at the man though that left it distracted good enough for Dyle to push the wolf off of him.
"Oh man, we got ourselves a Direwolf." Dyle recognized that creature.
"But I thought Direwolves don't come this far." Joe scared a bit.
"Fool, we would've stayed back had the demonic energy of the Calamity one not vanished." The Direwolf said.
"(Calamity One? That must be Velvet, and the demonic energy vanish must have been when she came down from the mountain with Laphicet and the demon ladies.)" Dyle thought realized.
"Now that the Calamity one is gone, we can rule every area of the forest to make it the turf of the Direwolves!" The Boss Direwolf howled calling upon his brethren as they arrive soon.
"Damn it, we got to get out of here and fast!" Dyle ordered a retreat and the four quickly ran away.
The Direwolves gave chase to the men as some came close to biting on their legs and few tried to pounce them, but Dyle use his tail to whack them away and pound them with his shield to keep them away from his men. However, when Dyle slash one wolf away another one came up getting a big chop on the right leg making him groans in pain before slashing at that wolf though still fell on his knee.
"Dyle, are you okay?" Joe asked before protecting the lizardman with his own shield.
"I'm fine, but we need to get out of here and warn the Mortal Sins and Laphicet." Dyle said.
"Kill them, and we shall go after their home!" The Direwolf Boss commanded.
"Not today!" Dyle took out a yellow stone and threw it to the ground causing a bright light to explode blinding the wolves for he and the others to escape.
The light dies down and the Direwolves could see again that their prey has managed to get away from them.
"It matters not, by tonight we shall feast upon the flesh of those humans and their turf will be ours." The Direwolf Boss growled.
(With Laphicet)
"It's nice to know that this village has a little library to enjoy some good books. Even though I would have wanted to watch some TV." Laphicet said carrying a book in his hands.
"HELP!" Joe called out.
Laphicet turn to see the three men carrying the injured Dyle.
"Dyle, what happened?!" Laphicet asked running up to him.
"Just fine, kid. A little nipple on the leg ain't gonna keep me down." Dyle tried to act tough, but the pain is not making it happen.
"Get him to the medical cabin. I'll go get Belial, Astaroth, and Velvet." Laphicet ordered before flying off to get the girls.
(Medical Cabin)
"We came as soon as Laphicet informed us." Belial said as she and the others rushed into the medical cabin.
"Sorry you have to see me in this state, Lady Belial." Dyle apologized.
"No need for apologizes, as long as you're still alive. That's good enough for me, now tell us what happened." Belial said as Laphicet try using his sliver flame to heal Dyle's leg.
"Me and the guys were just finishing up the patrol when suddenly we were attacked by Direwolves. The boss said that they came out here because the Calamity one's demonic energy has gone down." Dyle explained.
"So, they're out here because of me." Velvet looked down at her down.
"Don't blame yourself, Velvet. None of us could have known this would happen." Astaroth stated.
"But if her demonic energy is what keeping those wolves away, then what about the demons?" Laphicet asked.
"Demons are different to the creatures like the Direwolves, they are drawn to powerful dark forces that they want to consume it or go crazy while other creatures fear the power and keep their distance." Belial answered.
"They must have thought Velvet is dead and are making their move now." Belial theorized.
"Well then, they're about to get a pain realization when I'm through with them." Velvet angered as she is about walk out of the medical cabin.
"Hold on, Velvet." Laphicet stopped her.
"I don't think we need to get all of the Direwolves, just the leader since wolf packs usually only follows the leader." Laphicet pointed out.
"I think he's right, take out the head and the rest will surely fall back." Dyle agreed.
"It won't be long before the pack comes, so let get ourselves ready." Laphicet said.
(Later, Tonight)
"Tonight, is the night where we, the Direwolves, shall rein over this forest as our claws and skill even a demon and our fangs can destroy armor. Nothing will stop us from making this land our territory!" The Direwolf Boss howled as the others howl with him.
The whole pack runs together heading for the human village they have heard of from other creatures and destroy ever trace of it while feasting on their flesh between their fangs.
Then they stop when they saw the village gate has a giant wooden barricade with metal spikes on it and a small fence also with metal spikes on each side.
"So, these humans have prepared themselves." Direwolf Boss said.
"Father, look ahead." The Boss's Son pointed his nose forward.
The Direwolf Boss see four human figures standing in front of the village all looking fierce at the pack.
"Direwolves, we will not allow you to attack this village." Laphicet called out.
"You have two choices; you leave peaceful to live another day or die by our hands." Belial threatened.
"You think we're gonna run away just like that. Don't make us laugh!" The Direwolf Boss howled and some of the pack charged ahead.
"Can't say we gave them a fair warning." Velvet morphed her left arm into its demonic form.
"Time to rock and roll!" Astaroth struck her guitar sending her pink powerful soundwave that made their ears literally bleed as they wince.
Belial send some purple demonic flying slashes at the Direwolves that would come too close to the gate and herself. Velvet charges in slashing some of the monster wolves with her claws and armbrace sword, then she performed an uppercut to the ground that send a red and black energy blast at a few.
"Father, that power… It feels like the Calamity one! And those two women are almost like her!" The Boss's Son gasped.
"Impossible." Direwolf Boss refused to believe that.
"One last chance to surrender." Laphicet said.
"Do not make a mockery out of me, little boy!" The Direwolf Boss charged in to kill the boy.
"Then you leave me no choice." Laphicet blitzed at the boss wolf grabbing him by the neck and flew dozens of feet up in the air.
"What, this feeling… is that of a dragon!" The Direwolf Boss feared.
"That's right, I am a dragon. Laphicet the Silver Dragon and you're trespassing on my turf. For that, you will die." Laphicet threw the boss wolf down.
Laphicet flew fast past the Direwolf Boss and let out a powerful fire breathe that engulfed the boss wolf burning him alive for a several seconds, he stops as the remain of the Direwolf Boss is nothing but a cooked wolf flesh.
The other Direwolves became shocked of this as they stop fighting.
"Your leader has been defeated, now what will you do now?" Laphicet asked.
The Direwolves didn't say a word for a moment or two before the Boss's Son started moving a little forward as the pack soon follow. Laphicet and the girls thought they wanted to continue fighting, but surprise when they see the Direwolves bowing their heads down at them.
"We surrender to your strength; we will now follow you from now on." All the Direwolves said at once.
"Huh?" Laphicet confused.
"Looks like defeating the leader makes you a new one, who would have thought." Belial surprised.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
Laphicet and everyone sure enjoyed a good day until they were attacked by some monster wolves, but they took care of the leader and surprise to see that the rest of the pack will now under their command which Laphicet wasn't expecting that at all. Guess now the village will have some pet doggies from now on.
Next chapter will be a little aftermath and one big appearance of a certain group elsewhere in the continent.
