Teddy opened the door cautiously.

"Owen," Teddy smiled.

He looked at the baby in her arms. She stared at the toddler in his. Her heart started to pound in her chest; she was sure he could hear it.

"These are for you," Owen said, offering her the flowers.

"Thank you," Teddy smiled.

"Daddy flowers," Leo said.

"Come in," Teddy smiled.

"Teddy this is Leo," Owen said, "Leo can you say hi to auntie Teddy?"

"Hi weddy," Leo echoed.

"This is Allison," Teddy said, "Allison this is daddy."

Owen froze. Daddy did Teddy just say daddy. Allison was his daughter. Their daughter. Teddy had their baby without telling him. Was she ever going to tell him?

"Teddy," Owen asked.

"I will explain," Teddy said, "she's ours."

"We have a daughter," Owen asked.

"We have a daughter," Teddy echoed.

"Full name," he asked.

"Allison Eloise Altman," she replied, "May 18th. She's happy and healthy. Everything looks good."

"Teddy," he said, "why? I would have been here."

"I couldn't," Teddy said, "let's put the kids on the floor to play and we can talk. I have scotch. I know you need a drink."

"Teddy why," Owen said. He could see her panicking and closing off on him. She had shut him out all day at work this was why. Her daughter was their daughter. He had a thousand questions and wanted to ask them all now. A daughter a little girl that was half of each of them. A little girl staring at him with her moms green eyes and a look on her face that looked just like his sister Megan.

"We have time before we eat," Teddy said, "I can explain."

He had followed her into her living room and saw the toys in baskets by the fireplace. Her once pristine living room looked more like a home now. It was cozy with the baby things and a soft blanket on the couch. He saw the pink blanket folded on the window seat.

"Can I," Owen said, reaching for Allison now that Leo had walked to the toy bins.

"Ali girl, go to daddy," Teddy said, passing Allison to Owen.

He took her in his arms and looked at her closely. Her green eyes were all Teddy, the top of her head was covered in reddish hair but the expression on her face was all Megan. He looked at her closely before holding Allison close and kissing her head.

"Hi Allison," Owen whispered, "you are just perfect. You look like your mommy and auntie Megan. I love you."

Teddy sat on the floor by Leo and took some blocks out of a basket.

"Leo do you want the blocks," Teddy asked.

"Peas," Leo said.

"Aren't you a polite little man," Teddy praised.

Allison began to cry.

Teddy stood back up and walked over.

"Come here baby girl," Teddy said, taking Allison back.

Allison settled in Teddys arms.

"She doesn't know me," Owen said.

"She really only knows me," Teddy said, "she has a hard time in the morning with drop off. It can take me half an hour to drop her off. Let's sit."

"Why," Owen asked.

"I tried," Teddy said, "I went to your house."

"When." Owen asked.

"November," Teddy said, "I tried to tell you and I couldn't email or call. I had to do it face to face."

"November," Owen said, "I was here at the end of August."

"I didn't know until I was 7 weeks," Teddy said, "I spent two weeks figuring it out then flew to Seattle. I was scared Owen."

"Teddy," Owen sighed, "you didn't have to do this alone. I should have been with you, with her."

"You had a life," Teddy said, "you were back with Amelia, you had a baby and a teenager. That was the life you always wanted. I couldn't take that away from you. I wasn't going to do that to you. I decided it would be better to come back here and back to my life. I couldn't ask you to choose. I couldn't do it to you and not to our baby."

"Who knows," Owen asked.

"Megan knows I have a daughter she doesn't know she's ours. If something happens to me Meg is her guardian. I wanted her to go to family," Teddy said, "your name is on the birth certificate. Arizona knows it all."

"You told my sister," Owen said.

"She thinks it was a one night stand," Teddy shrugged.

"Why didn't you call after you came back," Owen asked.

"I called your house every day for two weeks," Teddy said, "I left a message with the teenagera few times. If it was Amelia I hug up but the teenager didn't know me I thought she would have passed the message."

"Betty never told me you called," Owen said, "what did you say?"

"That it was Teddy Altman and it was essential that you called me back," Teddy said, "I thought she would pass the message."

"Betty never did," Owen said, "she's gone now."

"What happened," Teddy asked.

"Ameila was trying to help her get clean," Owen said, "Betty ran away from us and overdosed. She was brought into the hospital with a ruptured aorta and Pierce was too late to fix it."

"Owen," Teddy sighed, "I'm sorry."

"Leo was her baby," Owen said, "I was fostering to adopt him and Ameila was helping Betty get clean. Leo is legally my son now."

Teddy looked at the red headed boy, "he's cute. He looks happy."

"He's a good boy," Owen smiled, "our little girl?"

"She's good," Teddy said, "still not sleeping through the night but we're close."

"Where does she sleep," Owen asked.

"Her crib is in my room right now," Teddy said, "I haven't had the heart to move her to her own room yet."

"Teddy why didn't you email when I didn't call," Owen asked.

"I didn't think you wanted to hear from me," Teddy said, "when you didn't call I thought you were done with me. I decided that the best thing for our baby was for me not to be chasing you. I was going to tell you. I always wanted to tell you but I didn't know how."

"Why would you give up on me like that," Owen said, "on her."

Teddy wiped tears from her eyes, "I was scared. I threw you out, I told you to go. Now I had to come crawling back pregnant."

"Teddy," Owen said reaching for her.

Teddy shrugged.

"Can I," Owen asked reaching for Allison again.

"Try holding her so she can see me," Teddy said, "she won't go to Arizona."

"Arizona" Owen said, "our daughter doesn't like Arizona."

"She's a mommys girl," Teddy shrugged.

"She knows you best," Owen said.

"Do you want to give her some water while I finish dinner," Teddy asked.

"I do," Owen said.

"Is she a good eater," Owen asked standing and carrying Allison to the kitchen.

"Most of the time," Teddy said, "she's had a couple colds since she started daycare a couple months ago she doesn't eat much then."

"Teddy I need you to answer a few things," Owen said, "I'm really trying to understand here."

"I know I hurt you," Teddy replied, "I'm sorry."

"Were you alone when she came," Owen asked.

"Yes," Teddy said, "she was three days early. Amanda was supposed to come the next day but Allison had her own ideas. Ali girl tried to come at 32 weeks but the OB was able to stop that and I took it easy for the last couple months. No surgery for eight months."

"Eight," Owen asked.

"I took six months home with her," Teddy said, "I missed cutting but she needed me home. I'm glad I took the time with her."

"Are you getting hungry," Owen asked as Allison reached for the bottle Teddy was pasing to them.

"That's the hungry face," Teddy said.

"What does she get," Owen asked.

Teddy gave him a look telling him he should know, "more solids now but mainly breast milk. See Some formula as well. I'm more worried about her being fed. Formala is only since I went back to work."

"Why Teddy," Owen said, "I don't understand why."

"I was scared," she said, "I know it's an excuse. I should have tired harder. Im sorry."

He kept Allison in one arm and went to hug Teddy.

"My girls," he whispered, "Teddy we will work this out. We will be friends again. We can do this."

"I'm scared," Teddy sniffed.

"I am two," Owen said, "we're a great team. We always have been. We can do this."

"I cant watch you walk away and choose some one else again," Teddy said, "I need my best friend. I need you here. Allison needs her daddy."

"I'm here," Owen said, "we will work it out Teddy. Here with me and the kids you don't have to be in control. At home you can just be you."

"Megan is going to kill me," Teddy said.

"Can I send mom and Megan a picture," Owen asked.

"I'll take it of both of you," Teddy said.

Owen passed her his phone and she snapped the picture. It looked right Owen with their daughter.

Owen sent it to Megan first.

Owen, "meet my daughter. Allison Eloise Altman. Teddy kept this from me. I'm with Teddy right now we're figuring it out. Megan I fucked up."

Megan, "Teddy's baby is yours? Your her one night stand with the tall red head."

Owen, "yes. We have a lot to solve. But they only live across the hall."

Megan, "so I'm really auntie Megan."

Owen, "a nephew and a niece."

Megan, "and your in Germany.

Owen, "I'm sure my CO could get you transferred."

Megan, "Teddy. I have to call her."

Teddy's phone vibrated.

Megan, "So I'm actually auntie Megan you're not just humoring me."

Teddy, "she's really a Hunt. She has your attitude."

Megan, "why didn't you tell me?"

Teddy, "I couldn't until I told him. He's in my kitchen holding two kids so I need to go. Call you soon.l

Megan, "you have a lot to explain Altman."

Megan turned to Nathan they both had the day off.

"Allison is Owens," Megan said.

"Teddy never told anyone," Nathan said.

"She wasn't ready. And he didn't know," Megan said.

"Summer break in Germany," Nathan said.

"For sure," Megan agreed.

In Germany the four are dinner together hardly talking as feeding two babies was a challenge. Leo trying to be independent and making a mess and Allison being fed tiny bites while she waved a spoon around and smashed it off the table. Owen chuckled seeing Allison open her mouth for more like a little bird as she finished each bite.

"Peas and carrots are her favorite," Teddy said.

"Potatoes for Leo," Owen said.

"Is he a good eater," Teddy asked.

"Always eating," Owen said.

They finished dinner making small talk about the kids and work before Teddy cleaned up her kitchen. She took out a few containers and put a few lunches together. She passed a small one and the largest one to Owen.

"What's this," Owen asked.

"Tomorrow's lunch," Teddy said, "for both of you. I doubt you've had time to grocery shop and plan ahead for lunches so I'm feeding you."

"Teddy you don't have to," Owen said.

"I want to," Teddy smiled, "I planned ahead so we could all have lunch tomorrow. The food at the hospital is some of the worst hospital food ever. It makes Grey Sloan look like it has a Michelin star."

"That bad," Owen asked, "I didn't get time for lunch today."

"That bad," Teddy confirmed.

They continued to make small talk as the two children played. Neither asking the questions they really wanted to. Both afraid of what the other would say.

Allison began to cry as she scooped her up Teddy saw the time, "she should have been in bed almost an hour ago."

Owen checked his watch, "Leo should be asleep two."

"I guess we talk tomorrow," Teddy said.

"We will," Owen said, "I can do dinner tomorrow."

"I have a late surgery," Teddy said, "I won't be done until 7:30. I have a nanny on call that will get Allison from daycare and bring her home."

"I can." Owen offered, "we could help eachother out with the kids. She is my daughter."

"In time Owen." Teddy assured, "I already have Sarah booked for tomorrow. She's good. Canadian her husband is one of our ortho suregons. She's a teacher with a masters in early childhood."

"Can I get the name," Owen said, "I need someone and if you've vetted her already."

"I'll talk to her when I get home tomorrow," Teddy agreed.

"They are siblings they can have the same nanny and go to the same daycare," Owen said.

"They can," Teddy said, "do you want me to put you on her forms at daycare?"

"Please," he replied, "can I add you to Leo's as his emergency contact?"

"Always," Teddy agreed.

"Teddy we have a lot to work out," Owen said.

"I know," Teddy agreed, "your angry and hurt. I did that."

"I'm hurt," Owen said, "I'm really confused but we can't solve it all in one night. We have a daughter. I have a son. I have two kids they have to come first."

"I know they do," Teddy said, "they come first always. We can figure out how to be friends again."

"I meant my note when I said I love you," Owen said, "I love you Teddy we will figure this out."

"It's always been you," Teddy acknowledged, "I love you."

"Us, kids," Owen said we can figure it out, "I have more questions but not now."

"I will answer all of them," Teddy promised.

"I have to get Leo to bed," Owen said.

"Allison needs to go to bed two," Teddy said.

"Can I say good night," Owen asked.

"Every night if you want to," Teddy said.

Owen picked Allison up, "good night sweetheart."

"Babababa," Allison tried.

"Daddy," Owen said slowly.

"Da da," Allison tried again.

"Yes sweetheart dada," Owen smiled kissing the top of the babies head, "good night. I love you."

"She loves you too," Teddy said, "good night Leo."

"Leo say good night to auntie Teddy," Owen prompted.

"Night weddy," Leo lisped.

"I'm going to get him to bed," Owen said, "what time are you leaving in the morning?"

"Seven," Teddy replied.

"I was thinking the same time," Owen said, "we can walk together."

'Good night," Teddy said.

Owen gave her a hug, "good night Teddy. See you in the morning."

"See you in the morning," Teddy echoed, returning the hug. It was a bit awkward as both had a child in one arm.

Owen without thinking kissed the top of Teddy's head, she sighed and leaned closer to him.

Owen walked across the landing with Leo Teddy stood in her door watching him go.

They both got kids ready for bed.

"That went better than I thought," Teddy told Allison, "I thought daddy was going to yell. He still might. He's going to think about it and be so mad at me that I hid you from him. But we'll work it out. We always do. Mommy and daddy will work it out for you."

Just as Teddy tucked Allison into bed and went to prepare their bags for the next morning when her phone rang.

"Meghan it's late," Teddy said.

"What the fuck Teddy," Megan snapped.

"Whoa you don't know the whole story. He didn't want me," Teddy said.

"How did he knock you up it's not like you live in the same country," Megan said.

"18 months ago he came to see me," Teddy said, "24 perfect hours then we both said stupid stuff. I found out 6 weeks later. Flew to Seattle two weeks after that to find him back with his ex and two kids. The teenager answered the door. "

"Betty was a piece of work," Megan said, "you didn't try."

"I called I left messages he never called me back," Teddy said, "when I had tried for three months I decided he didn't want me so I focused on the baby."

"That's when you told me," Megan said.

"You were the first person I told," Teddy said, "I chose to tell you first. I told you at 18 weeks. I guess I thought you would tell him."

"Teddy you should have told me Allison is Owens," Megan said.

"I couldn't," Teddy said, "not until I told him. I was his second choice. I couldn't let my daughter be his second choice."

"Teddy does mom know," Megan asked.

"I haven't talked to her," Teddy said, "Owen didn't know until he came for dinner."

"Teddy," Megan said, "you could have told me. I could have helped you."

"I was scared. I wasn't going to be his second choice his consolation prize," Teddy said, "but now he's here and there's two kids."

"Little Leo is a cutie," Megan said.

"He is," Teddy agreed.

"Seriously why didn't you tell any of us," Megan pressed.

"I couldn't," Teddy argued.

"You needed to," Megan said, "that bull shit of wanting her with someone you trusted if anything happened. You wanted Allison with her dads family if she couldn't be with you. Teddy were you ever going to tell us."

"I told myself I would do it on her first birthday," Teddy said, "I have to go to Seattle for something then and was going to take her with me."

"You would have shown up at his door with the baby," Megan said.

"Grey Sloan," Teddy said, "I knew what I was doing. I had a plan."

"A year," Megan said.

"I was hoping he would reach out tell me I was wrong," Teddy admitted, "I need to be having this conversation with Owen. But not tonight. I need to get ready for tomorrow and sleep."

"Don't hide," Megan said.

At the same time Owen called Evelyn.

"How was dinner," Evelyn asked.

"I have a daughter," Owen blurted.

"Teddys little girl," Evelyn asked.

"Allison Eloise," Owen said, "she's nine months. Mom how could Teddy of all people hide this from me. Teddy is the one person I would never expect to hide it."

"You'll have to talk to her," Evelyn said, "did she say anything?"

"She came to my house. She talked to Betty," Owen said.

"I'm sure she panicked," Evelyn said, "Teddy has always put your happiness above her own. I'm sure she was thinking of Allison. Do you have pictures?"

"I have a few from tonight," Owen said, "Megan said she has lots from Teddy."

"Ask Teddy," Evelyn prompted, "it has to be late."

"It is," Owen said, "we're meeting at 7 to walk to work."

"Then go get organized," Evelyn said.

"Teddy packed our lunches," Owen said, "she planned enough roast beef and veggies for lunches tomorrow."

"That was kind," Evelyn said.

"I love her," Owen said, "I'm beyond pissed that she kept Allison from me. But I love Teddy and always will."

"Go work that out," Evelyn said, "you have lots of time."

"Good night mom," Owen said.

"Good night," Evelyn said before hanging up.

Owen walked from his kitchen to the entryway to pack Leo for the next day he saw a note under the door.

Owen,

I really enjoyed tonight. We felt like a real family. I know we have a lot to work out. I love you I always have and always will. We will figure this out, us and the kids.

Sleep well.

Love,

Teddy

He sighed reading the note. He loved her, he loved Allison but right now he was confused, pissed and hurt. Why had Teddy hidden from him. Would she have ever told him?
