hey guys! i was bored and watching youtube videos when i suddenly realized...

tenya iida doesn't have a hobby.

he literally does schoolwork for fUN. honestly i kinda wish i could be as dedicated as him with school lmao but i'm not.

this is a short, silly little story between me and tenya. i'm aware it's in script form, it's easier to write and somehow funnier this way. i haven't done anything in script form for a while now and i wanted to do it again so

enjoy~!

Edit: I've decided I'm gonna make a mini-series called "Having fun with Iida!"

[Tenya is sitting in his room, just finishing up his schoolwork, when suddenly a sparkly gold portal opened up behind him.]

Tenya: Huh? That's odd. Is someone from another class practicing their Quirk? Or has the League of Villains acquired someone else who can open portals?

[The portal turns bright red and out steps Acepilot0candle.]

Tenya: Who are you? Are you a villain?

Ace: Um, no I am not, Iida.

Tenya: Are... you a student?

Ace: ...Not at this school, no...

Tenya: ...a civilian...?

Ace: Uh... uh... no.

Tenya: Then who are you?! You are trespassing on a school property!

Ace: I technically have the authority to defy even the laws of reality, but okay.

Tenya: WhAT-

Ace: Don't focus on that part, Iida. And don't be alarmed, I'm not gonna hurt anyone.

Tenya: Why are you here?

[Ace grins.]

Ace: To find you a hobby, good sir.

[Tenya is taken aback.]

Tenya: What do you mean? I have hobbies.

[Ace rolls their eyes.]

Ace: Yeah. Doing schoolwork is not a hobby, Iida. Besides, hobbies are something you can do for your whole life. You won't be able to do schoolwork for your whole life. Soon it'll turn into paperwork, which although I don't have to do since I'm even younger than you, still sounds endlessly boring and possibly worse than homework.

Tenya: What do you mean? Homework is fun.

Ace: Then you're a psychopath, my guy. You're literally the only person I know who does homework- of all things- for fun. I sometimes wish I was as dedicated as you with my schoolwork. Algebra sucks and I'm terrible at it.

Tenya: Oh! Do you need me to help you?

Ace: I'm not here to do homework. I'm here for one reason and one reason only: to find you a hobby.

Tenya: ...Fine.

[Ace rubs their hands together like the dumb housefly they are and thinks.]

Ace: So, let's start. Is there anything you'd like to try?

Tenya: Like what?

Ace: Ooh, there's a whole variety of things! Some of my personal favorites are writing, daydreaming, listening to music, acting, drawing, things like that.

Tenya: Daydreaming is a waste of time, though.

Ace: Well, not really. Daydreaming is a way to explore yourself and your own mind. It gives you *gasp* an imagination.

[Tenya is not amused.]

Tenya: It is good to have some imagination, I suppose, but too much of it gets in the way of your life.

Ace: Well, sure, maybe for you. But Midoriya daydreams all the time and look at where he is. Everyone has at least a little corner of their mind where they can freely roam and where they feel safe. But you? I don't see any of that in there. Also, I'm not planning on having any kind of super professional job. I want to be an author and illustrator when I grow up, so I have to have a big imagination. Where would all of the fictitious books be if there was no imagination?

Tenya: I... I guess that's true.

Ace: Glad to know you agree with me!

Tenya: Reluctantly.

Ace: Very well. Now, what shall we start with?

Tenya: I don't really care.

Ace: Let's start with something simple. Do you listen to music?

Tenya: On occasion, yes.

Ace: Good, good! Find a song you like and play it.

[Tenya goes on his phone and plays a song.]

Tenya: I like this.

[Ace is officially done.]

Ace: Iida... this is classical music. I mean, not judging your music taste, but classical? At least tell me you listen to any other genre.

Tenya: Not really. I only listen to it when I can't focus.

Ace: How often are you unable to focus?

Tenya: Rarely. I have a pretty long attention span.

Ace: Argh. After this, I'll have to introduce you to the world of music. Classical is fine, I guess, but you've never wanted something a little more catchy or tuneful?

Tenya: What do you mean?

Ace: God, sorry, I like to play instruments and sing. A lot of classical pieces aren't super tuneful and compared to modern music, it has so much less personality. Anyway, so what else would you want to do?

Tenya: I could try drawing.

Ace: Drawing? Perfect! Drawing is a great way to destress and it's super fun for a ton of people! Good choice.

Tenya: I say that, but I have no idea how to draw.

Ace: You don't have to know. There's no right or wrong way to draw. Art is subjective. You could do literally anything. However, I've been drawing as long as I can remember, and it's hard to know what to start with.

[Another gold, sparkly portal opens up, this one smaller. Ace sticks their arm into it and pulls out a sketchbook and some pencils.]

Ace: This is one of my books. Just find a random blank page. I'll get a pencil for you.

[Tenya takes the sketchbook and flips to a blank page.]

Ace: Here, this one is F, which is fairly light and easy to erase. Here's an eraser.

Tenya: But what should I start with?

[Ace thinks for a moment.]

Ace: There's really a variety of things you could do, but something that I personally enjoy that's pretty easy is a flower.

Tenya: A flower? Aren't flowers difficult?

Ace: Yeah, but it's not a realistic flower. Why be realistic when you can make it look completely fantastical and in your own way?

[Ace shows Tenya their way of drawing flowers.]

Ace: Now you try it, but make it slightly different. Make the petals different or add a design on a leaf. Get creative!

Tenya: Alright...

[Tenya does surprisingly good for his first try.]

Ace: Wow! This is adorable! I must say, I wasn't expecting this at all. Even if you just start with this at first, it's a start, I'd say.

Tenya: Really?

Ace: Duh! Now we can keep doing this or we can try something else if you want. What do you wanna do?

Tenya: I could try writing a story.

Ace: Niiice. I'm an expert at this.

Tenya: You are?

Ace: Well, technically I'm not a professional author. But I have a super big inner world. So let's start with something easy: making a character.

Tenya: I don't know how to make a character.

Ace: That's fine! Making characters, I'll admit, isn't always the easiest thing to just do on a whim. But if you limit yourself to a guide, it's much easier.

[Ace opens another portal and pulls a laptop out of it.]

Ace: Here. I'm currently writing the lore for a big series I wanna do. I made myself a guide for writing characters. Give me a moment to find it.

[Ace opens the laptop and clicks on a few things before setting it down and showing Iida.]

Ace: Here's the online notepad I like to use. You have to scroll down to see the characters. But you can read through some of the lore before you do just so you won't get confused.

[Tenya is amazed at what he sees. There are organized sections of notes and tons of ideas. He scrolls down and eventually finds the characters.]

Ace: Oh, here we go. The first one: Novae Redshadow. See how I made a guide? I didn't just come up with random things on the spot. I made a list of attributes for zim. Storyline position, race, gender, alignment, age, quote, yadda yadda yadda.

And yes, I'm not kidding, I am actually doing this in real life and Novae is my main character. Ace is me lol.

Tenya: So did you do this for every character?

Ace: Yeah. It keeps a little restraint on all of the things I could say about each and every character. These are only things that might be important, but I can always add something later on.

Tenya: I think it would be a good idea to have dislikes on there as well and not just favorites.

Ace: Ahh, good idea! I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier. Thanks!

my thought process while writing this lmao

[Ace adds a "dislikes" feature onto their characters.]

Ace: How'd that feel?

Tenya: I'm not sure. Almost like I'm a little too free.

Ace: Really? I guess since you restrain yourself and always blindly follow superiors, you would feel like that.

Tenya: What?

Ace: ...What? *nervous sweating*

[A pop-up appears on the top right corner of their laptop.]

Ace: No, go away! Leave! I know!

Tenya: ...It says you have a viru-

Ace: Yes, shut up! I accidentally clicked on something and now I have a damn virus!

Tenya: Haven't you tried to get rid of it?

Ace: That's the problem. I CAN'T. I can only SCAN for viruses, not GET RID OF THEM. GOD.

Tenya: Oh.

again, this is real and i'm so fucKING ANNOYED THAT I CAN'T GET RID OF IT GYAAH

Ace: Please ignore it if one comes up again.

Tenya: Sure.

[They hang out for a little while longer and Iida even gives out a few ideas for Ace's lore.]

Ace: Well, this was certainly fun! Thanks for your input!

Tenya: Of course. It's only natural to help someone else out.

Ace: Yeah, but I mean, it's still good for writers to give out input and advice to help other writers grow and help them out if they're stuck. My cousin likes writing too and she gave me some ideas (which I gratefully accepted). She has just a big of an imagination as I do, possibly even more.

Tenya: I guess imagination runs in your family?

Ace: Maybe. My dad likes roleplaying games and he's often a game master (one who creates the storyline). He and his friends made a world that they played in as teens. I guess it does!

Tenya: Does drawing also run in the family?

Ace: Me, my sister, my cousin, and my dad? We all love art. Me and my cousin are sometimes practically the same person, except she's an extrovert.

Tenya: You're an introvert? Interesting.

Ace: Are you an ambivert or something? Cause I see you talking to people a lot.

Tenya: I... guess? I'm not great at these kinds of things.

Ace: Maybe you're more like an introvert who forces yourself to be social. Y'know, a lot of introverts hardly ever talk to people and they turn out fine. Like me.

Tenya: Being social is a good thing, though.

Ace: And I agree. But introverts get a lot more drained when talking to people, so it's okay to want some alone time. You don't have to spend all your time trying to be social just because "it's good." I'm no expert on this, but I think an introvert forced to act like an extrovert does a lot more harm than good.

Tenya: I... I see your point, but...

Ace: Just leave some time for yourself, man. At night, if you can't sleep, close your eyes and enter your inner world. Often times, it works. And I've had insomnia basically since birth, so I should know.

Tenya: You have insomnia?

Ace: Yes. Yes I do. *smiles painfully at camera like some "the office" shit*

Tenya: What are you doing?

Ace: Nothing.

Tenya: ...Okay. But do you require something to help?

Ace: Without an official diagnosis and a prescription, which I don't want, I'm not gonna get one.

Tenya: You aren't diagnosed? Then how do you know?

Ace: Maybe I am? I have no idea. But either way, I have insomnia. Don't question it. How about we take a break?

Tenya: I can keep going.

Ace: Just because you make yourself keep going doesn't mean it's good to. We're taking a break. Right now.

Tenya: Fine.

Ace: Wonderful!

End of episode one of "having fun with iida!" Have a nice day!
