"LEVI, LEVI, LEVI!" I yelled running through the streets, I had amazing news to tell him and a lot of money in my pockets. I made it to our small home and I ran through the door tripping over the chair that was left out. "Farlan, push in your chair when you get up!" Levi walked into the room and covered my mouth with his hand. "Why are you so loud, you woke me up. What is so important that you have to run around the yelling my name?" I smiled before pulling a large wad of cash out of my pockets and handing it to him.
"I just did a job with a rich man who lived above ground, and after he gave me all this money. If he comes back again this could be our ticket up and out of here." Levi frowned at me before taking the money and placing it on the table. I knew he didn't care about the money he was more upset with my choice of profession. "You need to stop, you don't have to keep doing this anymore." I made a face and pulled Levi into a hug. "I'm ok Levi, I'm doing this because it gives us quick money and I know it's going to pay off in the long run." His frown deepened and my smile slowly faded.
"We will get out when we're supposed to, so I appreciate your support but it's time to stop. What are you going to do if someone hurts you?" I smiled at him before patting his head. "I know you worry about me but I'm going to be ok. I know what I'm doing is dangerous but I'm good at it and I make a lot of money doing it." Levi looked away from me as he pushed me towards the bedroom. "Go wash up, I'd hate for you to get sick from one of those scummy bastards."
I smiled and walked into the bedroom and stripped down, I frowned when I saw a couple of bruises on my body. If Levi knew why he paid me the extra money he would probably tie me to the bed so I couldn't leave the house. I took a bath before getting dressed and walking out into the living area. Farlan and Levi were talking about something and I was starving. "Hey, when did you get back? You were gone all morning." I smiled at Farlan and shrugged.
"I've been back, where did you go?" He copied me and shrugged as Levi got everything together for dinner. "She's been selling her body again." I made a face at Levi as Farlan shook his head. "Sonny, you really gotta stop doing that, we don't need you getting sick, we need you alive and happy." I smiled at Farlan and took a seat. "You guys care so much, I'm not going to get sick and I'm not going to die, at least not down here. I'm going to leave this horrible place and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to leave. Besides I've been told I'm really good at what I do."
Farlan blushed and Levi sighed shaking his head. "Oh, someone needs us to do a job but he just wants Levi and me to do it so it looks like you're going to have to stay here Sonny." Wait they didn't want me to help? "Why do I have to stay here?" Farlan looked at Levi before walking out of the house. "Because I said so." I frowned as Farlan and Levi left me alone in the small house. They always go off and leave me alone, it's not fair that they get to go around and do things that while I have to stay here and waste away.
I slipped on my shoes and walked out of the house and into the large dirty city. "Hey Sonny, we got some fruit from above ground and they're fresher than the last batch." I smiled at the salesman and I looked over the colorful fruit. They did look fresher than the others. "I'll take some," I said handing him my satchel. He filled the bag and handed it back to me as I handed him money.
"Oh no I don't want your money, when the shop is closed you can pay me." I frowned and put the money back in my pocket before walking away. I guess I can't really be too surprised this is normal. When you're a prostitute people always want one thing from you, some are willing to do whatever it takes to get too.
I continued walking through the market and bought things here and there before walking back to the house. Farlan was outside on the steps and I smiled as I walked past him and into the house. "I thought I told you to stay." "Well I'm not a dog Levi, I can leave the house if I really want too," I said taking the fruits and vegetables out of my satchel and placing them on the table.
"You went to the market?" I nodded putting my things away and cleaning one of the apples before biting into it. "Mmmmm, Levi here take a bite. It's really good!" Levi made a face at me and wiped off the other side of the apple before biting into it. "It is good." I smiled and took one outside to Farlan before running back inside.
The marketplace should be closing in a few hours, I wonder if I could go and buy a few more so we have fruits for tomorrow too. I grabbed my satchel and told Levi and Farlan that I'd be back before taking off out of the house. I headed straight to the salesman and thankfully he was still standing trying to sell his wares. When he saw me she smiled and I gave a small wave. "I was just getting ready to pack up, you're early."
"No I didn't come back for that, I came back to get more fruit, it really good," I said filling my bag. "You know that's going to cost you more? That's fine the Mrs. and I are spending some time apart so we got time." The salesman said packing up. "Well, I also came to give you this money and pay for the fruits and Vegetables because I am not interested," I said holding the money out for him.
He frowned and grabbed my wrist pulling me towards the alleyway. "Hey, what the hell?" I yelled trying to pull my arm out of his grip. He was a hell of a lot stronger than he looked. "You think you're special because the men above ground get to screw you whenever. No, you're not special, you're just a common whore." I went to hit him but he caught my hand and pushed me against the wall, my head hit the concrete wall temporarily stunning me. When I snapped out of my daze I headbutted the man and fell to the ground.
Levi made headbutts look so easy, man that was painful. I stumbled as I started walking out of the alleyway only to be stopped. "Woah, what's going on here?" I frowned and looked up as I held my head. Wow, he was tall. "That man was trying to rape me, I need to get home before..." "Hey I know this girl, she's the expensive prostitute." Two other men walked over to us and I sighed dropping my satchel.
I can't fight four guys all at once, I know the one behind me is incredibly strong, the one here in the middle is tall I might be able to get under him that's all I can get from this. The only way out was behind the three guys. I heard the one behind me walked up. "Well since we're all here might as well have some fun." I quickly moved away from the guy behind me as he went to grab me, he was slow. Well, I did just headbutt him.
The tall one kicked dirt up towards me and I quickly shielded my face only to be tackled to the ground. I tried pulling myself free but I was being held down my to men, the taller one held my legs as my dress was torn. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!" The one I headbutted from before covered my mouth and I mentally screamed.
What the hell is taking this fool so long? Levi thought as he stood outside of the house. Sonny was gone too long and something didn't feel right. He walked back inside and grabbed a few knives before heading out to the market. Most of the stalls were closed, it was getting late and it wouldn't be long before the nighttime workers came out.
Levi circled the market several times and frowned when he spotted Sonny's brightly colored satchel laying on the side of the street. He walked over and picked up the empty satchel before looking down the alleyway to see Sonny sitting against the wall. He walked over to her and took off his shirt before putting it around her shoulders. "Can you walk?"
Sonny nodded as she stood up and followed Levi home, she didn't have to tell me anything for him to know what happened. "Stay home for a while, Farlan and I will take care of you." Once the couple made it home Levi left to get water from the well as Sonny sat in the empty bathtub. Her body was aching from the abuse it endured. She wanted more than anything to leave this hell, her, Levi and Farlan called home.
When Levi came back he emptied the buckets of water in the tub as Sonny started scrubbing the dirt off her body, no matter how much she scrubbed she couldn't wash off the unclean feeling that coated her body. "Sonny stop!" Levi grabbed the sponge from Sonny and put it down. "You're hurting yourself." Sonny frowned as a few tears ran down her face. "Are we going to die down here? I don't want to be here anymore Levi." Sonny said as she let her head fall on the side of the tub.
"No we're not, we're going to get out of here. All of us, and when we do no one will be able to hurt you. I won't let them." Sonny lifted her head and smiled at Levi as he held her hand. "I promise, you're going to leave this place even if it's the last thing I do," Levi said squeezing Sonny's hand. Yes, they were going to leave the Underground City no matter what it took.
