The multitude of hums, grinds and other sounds echoed throughout the private workshop of Fabricator Locum Kelbor-Hal who stood looking down upon his latest project. Kelbor-Hal's mechadendrites moved with ease as he focuses on two different things at once. He recently learns that the Fabricator-General will be greeting this so-call 'Omnissiah's son' coming to Mars for some reason. Kelbor-Hal did not trust that Terran is known as the Emperor. He firmly didn't believe him to be the Ominissiah; however, he had been a simple Mago during the treaty, so that he couldn't do anything. After gaining some like-minded allies and a few rivals took out. Kelbor-Hal is now on his way to replace the current Fabricator General.
However, two significant issues were standing in his way to reaching the position. Fabricator-General Maximus Cosano is a contradiction within the Mechancius, but not in a wrong way. Maximus is a very rational being who follows the Cult Mechanicus like everyone else on the Red Planet. Still, the issue is Maximus is eccentric in everything he did in his time. When Kelbor-Hal had just reached Fabricator Locum, Maximus seemed to be exploring one of the minor factories in Mondus Occulam, finding two lowly adepts. He took them under his guidance; they went beyond everything and anything so many thought possible, the term prodigies and genius. Kelbor-Hal repeatedly heard whenever listening to the vox network or his allies of the apprentices of Maximus Cosano. Kelbor-Hal felt a strange sense of emotional angry come over him, but he quickly dismissed it as a lowly human emotion. However, the two names still appearing within his biotic eye and his MIU, causing issues for a few servitors within his workshop.
Magos Dominus Leonardo da Miragliano's and Magos Dominus Nikola Tesla's names quickly became the rising stars within the Mechanicus. They were always heading down into the Librarius Omnis, trying to discover new things or simply wishing to create something new. Kelbor-Hal felt another sensation of angry causing one of his mechadendrites to quiver, which he quickly purge from his system, once again refusing to think of his base emotions. He found those two very unorthodox within the Mechanicus, for they didn't do what is necessary to get rid of their weak bodies. Instead, they improve their current bodies but kept them looking like those Terrans. However, as much as he wished not to say Kelbor-Hal attempted their skills in appeasing Machine Spirits is quite impressive from finding rare archeotech, which they seemed to integrate into their bodies. Whatever else they found in that Librarius Omnis made Kelbor-Hal very consider about his plans to replace Fabricator-General Cosano. What information his allies learned, stole, and gained told him some circles were curious why didn't the Priesthood of Mars have Cosano's apprentices running to become something more within the government. Kelbor-Hal knew that da Miagliano and Tesla were far more into leaning the Explorator path wishing to explore and find forgotten knowledge. He has been trying to reason with Cosano to give them ships and send them off with an Expenditationary fleet. However, strangely Cosano doesn't see the logic in letting go of those two for some reason.
The sound of movement caught Kelbor-Hal's sensors, causing him to turn his head slightly. He saw Sota-Nul coming forward with a bow speaking out in lingua-technis, showing her respect to her mentor, someone she agrees saw a very independent Mars from the shackles of Terra. However, many of those siding with Kelbor-Hal stay hidden; only Nine were allowed to see him personally during specific situations.
"What is your will, Fabricator Locum?" she asked, wishing to know what needs doing.
He went back to his project, carefully finishing up the strange device's fine detail, not saying anything until finally finishing the project. "I plan on terminating two bothersome lines of harmful code that the current Fabricator-General doesn't wish to deal with, especially for it's suitable for Mechanicus as a whole. I want your best Mech-Assassins in place to deal with those that go against the proper Machine God's plan. I do not wish any unexpected issues to come from my ascension to Fabricator-General." He said, looking at the device within his grasp.
Sota-Nul didn't say anything, but she received details upon Kelbor-Hal wish to deal with those renegades that still kept their human form. She gave a bow of her head to understand preparing all the different situations that need planning, especially those two. However, one of the code lines causes her to pause, seeing the screen of information stops. The appearance of the false Omnissiah's son coming is a curious one but provides a way for them to act. It seems that Fabricator-General is meeting with the son personally, and he made sure that his two wards will join him. However, the mission doesn't seem to have the death of the false Omnissiah's son; instead, he will travel with Cosano. The two Magos will travel in a different transport back to their expedition, whatever they wish to go, which works perfectly for the assassination. She had the resources to make sure the Assassins were in place and very like-minded Skitarii Vanguards and Rangers with other element squads just in case of unforeseen issues. Sota-Nul will not fail the true Fabricator-General in her mind.
"You will have access to three squads of the new Thallaxii developed by the Legio Cybernetica. I have high expectations of them, so make use of them. I want those two gone forever, for they have been a thorn in my plans and calculations for a very long time." Kelbor-Hal added, finishing the device placing it on the table.
She gave another bow of her head; "Of course, Fabricator Locum, it shall be as you command." Sota-Nul response before saying something in lingua-technis before leaving the workshop.
Kelbor-Hal watched disciple leave his sanctuary, slowly turning around and leaving the work table, plans to form upon goals. He knew that he had to wait until Fabricator Locum gains the Fabricator-General's rank and codes, but he is patient. Kelbor-Hal just needed to wait for an opening one that will allow him to free Mars from the shackles of others' place upon her. He didn't like how this Emperor of Mankind shackled his thinking upon him as he could not explore and experiment far more than he wanted, especially in specific fields. However, sooner or later, there will be a mistake; something will happen, and Kelbor-Hal will grasp that chance for freedom of knowledge and following the actual path of the Machine God. He knew that right now, he needed to become the Fabricator-General first, and that meant dealing with two foolish idiots that don't their proper place on Mars.
However, Kelbor-Hal did not wish to rely on Sota-Nul no matter how good she is and skilled always having a backup solution is always important. He sent a highly encrypted message to another one of his disciples Ardim Protos. Kelbor-Hal knew Protos would do just as well as Sota-Nul, so he made sure that he is preparing for any unforeseen issues. The Fabricator Locum gave the nod once Protos received his orders seeing that it is time for him to prepare for his journey and join the Fabricator-General to meet the newest Primarchs. He will continue playing the dutiful servant for this Imperium, but he will free Mars. Kelbor-Hal adjusted his robes, grabbing a few other items before leaving his private workshop and into the massive complex under his control. He turned his head towards the legendary Olympus Mons' direction, which will soon come under Kelbor-Hal's rule. The Magos made his way towards his private transport ship. Several highly trained and enhanced guards waited for him as they got into position around him in a perfect square with Kelbor-Hal in the center.
Once the bodyguard and Kelbor-Hal got on board, the ship took off, heading towards the massive complex of landing pads in the distance. Kelbor-Hal went through the line of information, seeing the arrival of the Emperor's son will show up just a few moments after he came, which work out perfectly. He will have a few moments to take in different information that he is getting from his optics and his connection from the network. The information he is gathering showed that everything across the Red Planet exceeds expectations. Still, he knew once he gains control, the output across the Forges will go beyond everything. He continues shifting through the information until feeling the transport beginning its descend. Kelbor-Hal folds his hands into the folds of his red robes. The thud of the ship landing signal that they reached the landing zone. Kelbor-Hal bodyguards exit out first. He follows behind upon the massive landing pad seeing several flying servo-skulls floating around quickly doing their tasks just like the menials and servitors doing the same thing. Kelbor-Hal glance around until seeing the Fabricator General Maximus Cosano already there with his two appreciates standing slightly behind Cosano.
Fabricator General Maximus Cosano didn't even look normal, even by the standard many could even consider normal. The Fabricator General's body is bulky, easily towering seven feet tall. Cosano's lower body didn't even have legs but far more serpent-like or insect-like, with long slender legs six on each side of his lower frame. The matching four mechanic arms appeared from the folds of his majestic robes. Each one of those arms was deadly weapons filled with digital weaponry from a lost age. However, Kelbor-Hal notices one of Cosano's components held a massive and beautiful mechanicus power double head ax ready to be unleashed upon any enemies. The sight upon Cosano's lower back almost like a series of growths in the shape of hives coming along the spine's length. The nests held dozens of mechadendrites and other mysteries held within those devices. The cowl of his robe hides Maximus' face, but the sight of six green and blue glow was the many different optical bionics. The humming from the several servo-skulls around Cosano giving out lingua-technis for the various reports across Mars. However, before Kelbor-Hal could take into the two destructive codes behind Cosano, the sound of descending transport told him that the son is coming to holy Mars.
The transport ship descended, landing the ramp's hissing lowers, allowing the massive figure wearing what looks like an overcoat of red with a fur lining wrapping around the neck. The Primarch worn under the coat is a simple tunic and pants with well-worn boots well-traveled from appearance. The Primarch's storm grey hair is down, hanging down his shoulders and midway down his back. Those lightning blue eyes stared at the group before him as he gave a bow to those greeting him. However, for a single minute, Gwyn's eyes widen at the sight of two figures that, honestly, he didn't know what to make at all. The man on the right looks like a dead ringer for Tom Riley during his Da Vinci's Demons run. In contrast, the man on the left is the reborn vision of a very young Nikola Tesla. Both figures wore red robes but far more travel-worn from what Gwyn could tell, but the strangest thing is their appearance.
They both looked far more human than what Gwyn probably could consider. He could only think of a high ranking within the Mechanicus, Arkhan Land, who kept his human appearance but hid his biotics and other technology within his body. However, the strange shape of the current Fabricator General leader Maximus Cosano coming forward in the massive irregular shape that couldn't even consider human or even a standard form Techpriest. The enormous body of Maximus came forward, the clicking of his spider-like legs hitting the ground. It wasn't long before Gwyn and Maximus stared at each other.
Gwyn began the process bowing his head; "Greetings to you Fabricator General and praise the Omnissiah and his grand plan." Gwyn said, not wishing to speak in binary simple out of respect and too much misinterpreting something if he wasn't careful.
The binary sound came out from the massive vox box, which seemed connected to face far more cybernetic machine with almost no skin. Gwyn notices the sight of six different bionic optics clicking as if they are taking the information or data upon Gwyn's presence before Maximus. The latter speaks in binary language as the Primarch listens, unsure what Maximus is staying, but soon he answered.
The vox connected to Maximus' throat activated; "Greetings son of the Omnissiah. The Mechanicus and Holy Mars welcome you. Are we honored for your visit and interested in the reason you wish to come to Mars? Do the details tell that you want to go on an expedition into the Librarius Omnis while you wait for your Gloriana-class battleship to come from the Jupiter shipyards. Is that correct?" Fabricator General asked in a digital-sounding voice.
Gwyn gave a bow of his head; "Yes, Fabricator General Cosano. That is my decision. Since I know, it will take several weeks for the Emperor's gift for the Great Crusade. However, instead of heading to Jupiter shipyards, I rather spend my time here on Mars and learn about the Mechanicus. However, I also know that you have taken issue with my home system with the Aqshy and the Forge World. So I wish to clear up some issues that you believe the Treaty of Olympus Mons details won't work for the planet is controlled by the Dawi. I have no right, especially since the Dawi have created Forge World when it's not a Forge World. The technology they use and forge is utterly different than what you are probably expecting. So I can only suggest sending representatives there to understand." Gwyn explained slowly, hoping to ease whatever issues this conversation will provide.
Maximus listen to what Gwyn said before bobbing his head, "Understand I will send a few Magos to the planet known as Aqshy to verify if the world is considered Forge World. We do not have the world within our holy records, but once I receive information, the discussion can be made by myself. However, since you wish to go into the depths of Librarius Omnis, I have found two of my best that will help you." He motions one of his robotic arms towards the two figures on either side of him. "Both are very impressive. Magos from the Artisan and Mago were easily fitting into several different sectors of disciplines. My apprentices Leonardo da Miragliano and Nikola Tesla taught by me and well-versed in the hidden depths of the Librarius Omnis." Maximus introduce the two.
The two stepped forward, each wearing the red robes of the Mechanicus, but what they had under it were far different. Leonardo wore an open robe revealing his tunic and pants while hanging from his waist seemed a mixture of paints, brushes, and mechanical tools ready for use. A highly advance looking cybernetic bird resting upon his shoulder. At the same time, his face is a dead ringer for Tom Riley, yet there were lines of cybernetics covering his face; even his eyes with an eerie glow told Gwyn what bionics Leonardo held hidden within his body. In contrast to Leonardo's loose and accessible style, Nikola Tesla is straightforward, precise, and nothing out of place. The Magos was wearing a black and red suit with nothing out of sorts. However, Gwyn notices the arching of lightning coming from between the Magos' fingertips. Several servo-skulls were floating around Tesla, chirping and scanning everything around them. Gwyn sees two custom-looking guns resting on Tesla's hips, arc pistols highly customized from the grips.
Gwyn gave a bow of his head; "I thank you for coming with me on my little trip to the Librarius Omnis. Especially two apprentices of the Fabricator General himself. It is quite the honor." He said, being honest in the statement.
The two gave a bow in return but did not speak like they didn't wish to say anything for that matter. However, Gwyn didn't mind before turning his attention to the fourth person upon the landing pad looking at them. It took him a moment before realizing who it is, and once he realizes who it is, he became a guard in how he acted with the Tech-Priest that came forward. Tesla and Leonardo stepped back and away from Maximus and Gwyn, allowing Kelbor-Hal to come forward, for the two didn't quite like their fellow Tech-Priest for numerous reasons. However, their mentor kept telling them that there is nothing to worry about from Kelbor-Hal.
"May I also introduce Fabricator Locum Kelbor-Hal." Maximus introduce the Locum gave a bow of his head towards the Primarch.
Gwyn returned the bow showing respect for the biggest traitor during the Horus Heresy, but the Horus Heresy could not happen, or will he still didn't know. However, Gwyn did know that Kelbor-Hal did not like the Emperor of Mankind nor the Imperium, but he knew that Kelbor-Hal wouldn't be an ally for him. The man is a very dangerous someone that Gwyn will have to look out for or prepare for his betrayal. However, right now, the Nameless King will keep his eyes out and upon Kelbor-Hal while he stays upon Mars.
"It is an honor to meet the two highest rank members of the Mechanics coming to meet me," Gwyn started noticing Kelbor-Hal watch with a calculated look.
Kelbor-Hal optics gave him all kinds of information from the passive scans he did on Gwyn but finding the same result just like the last two. "The honor is mine for meeting another one of the Omnissiah's sons come to Holy Mars," Kelbor-Hal started to step back.
Maximus gave a nod of his head; "Let's us go than we have much to do, and I have been away from my workshop far too long. Come, Lord Gwyn," he said, motion for the Primarch to come towards his transportation.
Kelbor-Hal didn't anymore, for his plans were already in place, turning around, leaving the group not wishing to act like he is rushing, but many know he does many things for Mars. A Magos' time is very precious and limited. Everything Kelbor-Hal did his schedule down to the second, which took a good chunk of his time. The Fabricator Locum board his transport as his bodyguards followed, but just as he turned around, he saw something which made him feel something. The ramp closed up, allowing him to glimpse the Primarch heading towards Leonardo and Tesla's transport ship, which cause him uneasiness. However, the plans are in place. There is nothing he can do to change it.
Kelbor-Hal gripped his hands tightly into a fist, thinking about the fact that the Primarch seemed to decide to go with those two. However, a thought came from Kelbor-Hal's mind; even if they didn't kill the Primarch, those two would die sooner or later. The assassins which Kelbor-Hal's Disciple, have to prepare for their mission. The Fabricator Locum knew that the transport that held those three would be dealt with very soon. The ship took off, allowing Kelbor-Hal to think about other things as he slowly began preparing for the next part of his plans. The Fabricator-General's title will be within his grasp very soon, and nothing will stop him from saving Mars and the Mechanicus from the chains which they place upon themselves. Kelbor-Hal gave the nod receiving the signal from Sota-Nul's assists were in place. He didn't reply to see that there is no reason for Sota-Nul knew were duty for the Mechanicus.
The highly customized transports knew as Omega Gwyn watched seeing Tesla sitting within the pilot seat while a servitor fused into the ship's passenger side. Leonardo sat across from Gwyn, a large smile resting between his lips while he strokes his cybernetic bird's head. Leonardo is young from what little Gwyn could guess from the few Tech-Priest he met if he had to guess either the late twenties maybe early thirties, just like Tesla.
"So you are a Primarch, huh?" Leonardo asked with a tilt of his head, interested in the idea of the Primarch more than anything else.
Gwyn gave the nod; "Yes, a Primarch," he said in agreement.
"You know when Horus Lupercal and Leman Russ came to Mars only for a few moments to introduce themselves the Maximus, they had an aura around them. However, looking upon you, I don't feel anything, yet you still have that feeling just smaller." Leonardo said with a tilt of his head.
Gwyn laugh, shaking his head; "If I did show you my genuine aura, you would be crawling out your eyes or try to kill me. I created something that suppresses the feeling, but it's still there." The Primarch explained the glint of his ring appearing for Leonardo to see.
The Magos leaned forward, eyes taking in the sheer power and ancient-looking device for the Golden Age of Technology from their past; "Now that is entirely something indeed. I have never seen anything like that before. Tesla and I are quite the inventors and scientists." Leonardo said, glint appearing in his cybernetic eye.
Gwyn gave a smile. "Yes and no. I found some old Hives across the worlds within the Azyr system with quite a bit of lost technology. I found some databases filled with things for my abilities and others like mine. However, this ring is probably the first and only that I can create this powerfully. I know other rings are possible, but they won't be as powerful as this one." Gwyn explained to the Magos.
Tesla turned his head; "Now that is very interesting. What sort of aura do you have then which you have to suppress. A Blank?" he asked, allowing the servitor to take over.
The Nameless King gave a nod of his head; "Yes, I am a blank, but far more than either of you can genuinely guess or believe." Gwyn explained, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "So what about you two? Why aren't you more machine-like than your counterparts?" Gwyn asked, curious about the lack of vision bionics.
Leonardo laughed a bit, shaking his head; "Oh, we have plenty of bionics and gifts from the Machine God. However, I like the human form far more than most of my fellows, but don't take what you see at face value." He lifted his hand, revealing his fingertips which open up, sliding out where Mechadendrite sliding out, each one ending in a different device. "All our bionics are inside-out bodies improving ourselves. I am far more of an artisan than anything else, but I love inventing. However, my fellow Magos, the master of electoo with most ancient from our finds within the depths of Librarius Omnis for our personal use. We have many archeotech that we have added to our bodies." Leonardo explained, allowing his hand to return to normal.
Tesla removed himself from the pilot seat, stepping down from the cockpit heading within the transport's main compartment. Gwyn glance at the very well put together man who held out his hands to a slight distance causing arches of lightning coming from his palms and fingertips. The strength coming from these two is probably easily Arkhan Land, maybe even Belisarius Cawl, after a ten thousand years level of skills between these two. However, the look both of them gave Gwyn an impression as he glances at Tesla's sidearms resting at his hips.
"Did you bring any weapons with you? I am interested in the outfit too. It seems very rustic?" Tesla asked, stroking his mustache scrutinize Gwyn trying to find any weapon upon his person.
Gwyn reached around, pulling out a graviton gun that could have easily been wielded two-handed, but within his grasp, the medium-size weapon seemed like a pistol. The second weapon is a volkite charger ready to be unleashed. It is a strange mixture to dual wield two rifle size weapons used as simple pistols. However, what caused both Tesla's and Leonardo's eyes to widen even far is that he left them on the table in the center is the secondary pistols he seemed to hold. A newly designed plasma gun place right next to his graviton gun; the plasma gun's design is a plasma exterminator, beautifully detailed thanks to the Dawi's smith. The second weapon is an absolvor bolt pistol laying right beside the volkite charger. The two Magos was shocked at the sleek design, but they could even feel the power coming off each weapon. Gwyn opens up his overcoat a bit more, revealing the ammunition he held upon his body.
"I brought four probably a little overkill, but I didn't wish to be unprepared, especially on the Red Planet like Mars," Gwyn said, grabbing his weapons placing them back in their holsters, hiding them from plain sight.
Leonardo leaned forward: "I don't think I have ever seen models like that in those types of weapons. The design of each one is quite elegant. I can see the care and love put into each one from just a glance." Leonardo said, stroking his chin with a smile.
Tesla gave the nod, "Highly advance too. I know we just recently found out a few of those technologies you seem to hold onto as of now. I have read a few reports of these Duardin people, and they are very industrial and technology inclined with their knowledge. However, what I find interesting is these runes seem to engrave upon their power armor, weapons, and even some of their ships. Do they hold some significate action for such actions?" Tesla asked, leaning forward, interested in hearing the reasonings.
Gwyn shrugged his shoulders upon hearing the questions. He is about to open his mouth to answer the question, but the ship began to shake uncontrollably. Gwyn looked around, finding that odd for the turbulence seemed far more like an attack. He looked over towards Tesla, who quickly brought up a holographic image of the transport. Leonardo watches the shot until seeing something slammed into their ship, causing it to shake even worst. Gwyn felt the shaking get worst, seeing the image fizzle out, but he saw one of the engines shooting out. Gwyn looked upon the two Magos, wondering if they knew what is going on. However, he notices either one of them looked shocked by the sudden change of events. It is almost like they were expecting something like that, but they were surprised it happened with him onboard flying with them. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, wondering what is going through their minds.
"So rivals of yours?" he asked, keeping the conversation civil at the moment.
Tesla gave a slight nod; "Yes, it seems like those that wish to see us out of their way. A few factions were hoping for us to show our worth in becoming the Fabricator-General. However, either Leonardo or I have any reason to stay on Mars. We wish to learn and rediscover what we have lost, but also create something new." Tesla explained another explosion rocked the transport, causing alarms to erupted throughout the ship.
Gwyn, hearing the warning from the servitor about the up and coming crash landing. He pulled out the plasma exterminator, Blue Star, charging up the weapon. Gwyn notices that the two Magos looked at him strangely, but he didn't explain himself making his way to the landing ramp of the transport. He slammed his fist against the release causing the ramp to drop open. The Martian air blew into his face, but he held up the gun. Gwyn notices at least four different fighters flying after them, but the Primarch aimed the plasma exterminator gave the eeriest glow from the coils.
He turned his head; "I suggest you find out where we are going to crash. I think they won't give up even if we perish from the crash." Gwyn said, knowing that an extreme possibility no one is going to die from this crash.
Before either one could put a word in, Gwyn fired a brilliant bright blue shot from his gun's barrel, sending it flying outwards. Tesla and Leonardo were blind for just a moment, but their bionics quickly fix that problem. The sound of an explosion told them that Gwyn hit his target from an impossible shot. Gwyn aims again with Blue Star, but first turning his head, motion for them to start preparing. Either one of them needed telling twice as they quickly began gathering up everything, more explosions hit across the haul of their ship. It wasn't long before Tesla got their coordinates and placement on Holy Mars. The sound of Gwyn preparing for the emergency landing, but both Leonardo and Tesla notice how it seemed the Primarch is about to jump out of the ship any moment. Leonardo knew that he had the specialty bionics that would save him and even Tesla with his prototype creation, but he had no idea what a Primach can do in this situation.
"It seems the Omnissiah isn't with us. We are over the Noctis Labyrinthus. If legends and tales speak the truth, many of our bionics will have quite the problems down there." Tesla stated, checking the last bit of his gear while turning his head seeing Gwyn taking another shot destroying another flyer, but still the damage is done.
Leonardo let out a sigh; "Well, we always did say we would go into the unknown, and the Noctis Labyrinthus is quite the novel experience. Maybe we will figure out what is truly going on in that hidden valleys." He spoke with a smile as he made his way towards the open ramp.
Once again, Gwyn slides Blue Star into the holster after taking the holster, hiding it thanks to the overcoat. "You two ready?" he asked, knowing what is about to do is going to suck and very painful. He remembered Vulkan doing this stupid, but he had power armor on, and he didn't.
Tesla and Leonardo looked at him as they didn't understand as they were about to say something, but Gwyn jumped out of the ship without even a second look before they did. Leonardo quickly followed, not wishing to have a son of the Omnissah die on their watch as he jumped, causing cybernetic bird wings to grow out from his shoulder blades beginning to glide downwards. Tesla sighed, hearing the warnings of immediate destruction of his beloved ship. He shook his head, taking a running start before jumping out of the craft. Instead of cybernetic wings, which Leonardo seemed fond of, a sphere of electricity surrounds him, allowing him to control his descendent. The ship exploded just a few moments after the three made their escape from the burning wreckage once their craft. The two watched the falling Primarch noticing that he wasn't slowing down.
"Do you think something happened?" Leonardo vox Tesla.
Tesla didn't respond while watching the continuing descending Primarch; "Unknown" is the only reply Leonardo got back.
Gwyn continues to fall; his eyes close the whole time, feeling the wide rushing through his hair. He thought about a passage from Promethean Sun in the Horus Heresy Novellas when Vulkan jumped out of his stormbird without a jump back. The Primarch remembers how Vulkan wondered if this is the feeling that Sanguinius got whenever the Angel flew with his wings. Strangely enough, Gwyn is having that same thought as he continues to free-fall, finally opening his eyes seeing the ground beginning to come closer with each passing moment. He reached around, grabbing his graviton gun from his back, adjusting the settings. Gwyn ironically called the graviton gun Galvatron. He felt it appropriate to call the gun Galvatron as he aimed the weapon, causing a green beam to shoot outright to the ground. He did this several more times until sliding Galvatron back into its holster. The Primarch didn't have to wait long; seeing several floating boulders coming up towards him, using his unnatural abilities as a Primarch, Gwyn land on the first boulder before quickly jumping to another one and another. It wasn't long before he lands right onto the red dirt of Mars.
The Nameless King turned his head, looking up, seeing the two Magos descending far smoother than he ever did, which annoyed him a bit but understood. Those two were probably prepared and use to these types of assassination attempts on their lives. Gwyn notices Leonardo's mechanical wings were works of art like bird wings, but metal and cybernetic style. If Gwyn had to make a comparison from it, probably a mixture of Archangel from Marvel X-Men with his Techno-Organic Wings and maybe Hawks from My Hero Academia simple for how realistic those wings and feathers seemed from a distance. Gwyn shook his head, seeing Leonardo's wings fold themselves back into his back, disappearing from view. He glances over to the sphere of electricity, allowing Tesla to land with nothing out of place. The two stared at the floating boulders that were continuing upwards.
"That is a very interesting grav-weapon, Lord Gwyn. It seems pretty more powerfully than what we know and very sleek in design too. I am guessing custom created either from these Duardin folk or maybe yourself?" Tesla said, stroking his chin, lightning arcing around his head revealing just how much brainpower the genius is using to figure such things out.
"I forge and build all my weapons Magos Tesla. I have four melee weapons and four range weapons. The only thing I won't have a hand in is creating my power armor which the whole Duardin people wish to honor for honoring my oaths to them. Now that the Imperium has found my home. They wait to see what type of power armor Astartes uses, and Duardin people do like a challenge." Gwyn explained, remembering that conversation between the Rune Smiths Guild and Endrineers Guild spoke about how they would craft the most incredible armor for him worthy of the Nameless King himself.
Leonardo gave a smile; "Very interesting. I think we will have to figure out a way to see your home, Lord Gwyn." He said, looking around at the vastness of maze-like valley with equally steep walls surrounding them. "I do believe we will have to figure out this predicted first before we do anything afterward don't you think?" he said, allowing his bionics to begin scanning, seeing if there is anything he could do for the moment.
Gwyn gave the nod, "I agree, and stop calling me Lord. Just Gwyn, instead far more straightforward, and honestly, I rather have just my name instead of Lord in front of it every time someone talks to me." He explained, staring out to the depths of Noctis Labyrinthus.
The two Magos continue to scan and see anything wrong with their bionics and devices, but strangely enough, nothing happened. Tesla stepped far into the valley, trying to experiment to see if anything would happen, but nothing did. He didn't understand all the rumors, even the records that Tesla read within the depths of the Librarium Omnissiah read about the several issues of equipment and other technology whenever an expedition came to this cursed place. He looked over to Leonardo to see if he is getting matching reading, but the look on the man's face told Tesla all he needed glancing back to the blackness.
Gwyn sighed, coming forward, looking up at the steep valley walls before nodding his head; "I guess we are going have to enter the unknown maze we seem to fall into, especially with our purses still coming after us." Gwyn said, turning around, looking behind them into the distance feeling the eyes upon them.
Leonardo turned around, also having that feeling like someone is watching them before a large grin appeared on his face. "Well, my friend Tesla we always said we would conquer something that not even our teacher could hope to," Leonardo said with a smile resting on his face seeing a chance to step out of Tesla and his teacher's shadow forever.
"Agreed," Tesla said, drawing his arch pistols, powering them up, stepping into the unlevel path into the depths of the Noctis Labyrinthus.
The inventor gave a smile causing a rapier size sword and dagger to appeared within his grasp, but Gwyn quickly notices that they fused into Leonardo's hands from how they appeared. The Artist followed behind his fellow engineer into the depths, a smile resting upon his face the whole time at the adventure's excitement. Gwyn watched the two descend, disappearing while he stood, letting out a sigh wishing he is alone for this part of his plan. However, the goal is suicide in itself, but he had to try. The Primarch drew the volkite charger, Dark Phoenix in honor of Marvel's Jean Grey, and pulled out his absolvor bolt pistol, which the Nameless King still hasn't named. If Gwyn is honest, he probably won't call it anything, for nothing, fit the bolt pistol within his grasp. He turned his head, looking out into the distance, knowing that someone is watching them, but it didn't matter. Gwyn turned, heading into the maze of valleys preparing for a challenging journey and a fight about to come at them.
In the distance, Sota-Nul watched her target disappeared into the valley, turning her head slightly seeing her squads and five Mech-Assassins ready for action. She knew that she uses very high-quality resources to deal with these three, but one is a Primarch. The other two were trained and taught by Fabricator-General, but they were also self-taught too. That isn't even beginning what secrets held within those two's bodies either. Sota-Nul glances over to the five Scarian Ruststalkers squads; five Skitarii Vanguard and five Skitarii Rangers were standing ready, wondering if they will survive the coming assignment Sota-Nul will give them. However, in truth, Sota-Nul didn't care. She will make sure that those three will either lost to the cursed place or killed either outcome. The Disciple of Kelbor-Hal knew that she would succeed in her directive.
"Move out. I want the three targets dealt with as soon as possible. They should also be at a disadvantage within the valley, just like you. If any of you return, our master will reward you with things you can only dream of, but only if you return." Sota-Nul explained, walking away from the group, leaving them as she made her way to her transport.
The large group moved towards their transport, preparing for the mission unafraid or worried, for they felt nothing. Those emotions are weaknesses to them, and they will do their command without question. The massive force embarked upon their transport began heading off to the mysterious Noctis Labyrinthus to prepare for their mission, but also their deaths. It wasn't long before the Mech-Assassins started noticing that their equipment and bionics weren't affected by the range while the others weren't facing the same issue. The group of assassins began entering the same entrance that their targets entered. It wasn't long before everyone disappeared into the valley.
The Noctis Labyrinthus, a visible labyrinth formed out of the valleys and canyons that few could only hope. Still, the fear of contamination, which affects both flesh and mechanical components alike, kept most curious of the Tech-Priest and residents of Mars away for only a few will very known what hides under the surface of Mars. However, unknown to everyone entering the Noctis Labyrinthus, a signal is sent out somewhere across Mars, utterly unknown to everyone. However, the receiver of the call look down at the code sent quickly got the person into action, but sadly they knew they would be far too late for whoever will find what shouldn't be found or disturbed.
Several days later
Gwyn hid behind a boulder the sound of arc rifles, Cognis blasters, and maybe two or three transonic weapons, causing rocks to fall upon their positions. Gwyn curse lifting Dark Phoenix, pulling the trigger, causing a ray to shoot out from the barrel heading straight towards one of the Skitarii, causing the trooper to burst into combust. Gwyn quickly returned to cover, thinking about how they got here. They had been traversing the valleys of the mountains finding multiply entrances everywhere. Still, strangely enough, it is almost like, at least to Gwyn, they seemed to have a call for them to travel-specific paths or entering certain cravens. The Primarch figure is either the Void Dragon calling for them or maybe even Adept Semyon. In some weird way, but the Emperor had to do something to the Guardian of the Dragon. However, Gwyn's thoughts quickly disappeared, feeling another shot from a rifle missing him. Before Gwyn could send a bolt downrange, the sound of the storm caught his attention. He glances overseeing Nikola Tesla in his full glory, lightning arcing all across his body. The Primarch even notice the Magos' eyes glowing blue with power.
Tesla sent out a blast of lightning out from the sphere surrounding him, causing the walls and path upended by the amount of force. The lightning crackle and pulse heading towards the first Skitarii catching the trooper, but it began a chain reaction between the group. It certainly is the sightseeing the Skitarii freeze up, shaking uncontrollably and dropping down black smoke coming off their bodies. However, Gwyn couldn't sight there waiting as he took action, pulling his bolt pistol's trigger, hitting headshots all around him. A strange sensation filled him, but he quickly moved out of the way as a robotic-style Ruststalker land right where Gwyn used to be with its blades pierced deep into the ground. Before the Ruststalker had a chance, the Primach lifted Dark Phoenix, pulling the trigger. The sight of metal melting and circuit exploding is quite the sight.
Gwyn quickly moved again, the Primarch taking Leonardo's display, seeming to have the time of his life dueling at least three different Rangers and Rustalkers. The whirlwind of blades, the sword, and the dagger is moving around with no effort. Leonardo had the biggest smile upon his face as he quickly thrust, piercing the head of a Rustalker. He ducks, sliding his dagger into the side of a Ranger, trying to slam the stock of his rifle into his face. The Artist seemed to almost dance around his enemies, stabbing and piercing flesh and steel whenever there is an opening. However, if someone got the luck to get behind him, well, the sight of deadly Mechadendrites coming out from his body dealing with anyone trying to get behind him. He began to notice that they were starting to retreat, allowing them a moment of rest. Although Leonardo enjoyed a good fight, he is glad that they were finally retreating, but it told him someone led this group. Leonardo returned his sword and dragger into his body with a nod seeing the sight of Tesla cease floating around the sphere of lightning disappearing.
"How many times is that now?" Leonardo asked, dusting himself off with that same cocky smile resting upon his face.
"Sixth time," Tesla answered, adjusting his red robes, making sure that everything is in a place like usual, which just made Leonardo smile.
The sound of a bolt pistol firing causing the two turned seeing Gwyn finishing off one of the survivors from the suffering of the electrical burns covering their body and the melted armor fused to their dead flesh. Gwyn stared at the body for a moment before shaking his head, sliding his weapons back into their holsters before checking his ammo, seeing he had enough for the moment. He turned around, looking at the two Magos, who were quite impressive in their display of violence and teamwork.
"Not to mention they are learning after each attack. The leader is trying to figure out weak points or how to force us deeper into the valleys. It's tough to tell how many we have killed, but it is also tough to see how many are after us. However, I feel like we are getting closer to something significant down there." Gwyn said, turning his head to the continued path they seemed forced to take by fate or random action.
Tesla lifted one of his servo-skull, allowing the device to float forward, giving him a better idea of what will lie ahead of them. He didn't say anything while Gwyn moved to sit down and wait for their plan since they have been in this place for several hours. The worst part is it is already hard to tell what time or if it's the night on Mars. The mechanicus kept a bizarre way of time and day that Gwyn is trying to figure out while he came from Luna. Leonardo began to stretch some of the landscape, enjoying the quiet, allowing Tesla to do his magic whenever they had a few moments of downtime. The silence is pleasant, but Gwyn had a question that he wished to know.
"So tell me, Leonardo, why aren't Tesla and you away from Mars taking part in the Great Crusade? Maybe finding new Forge Worlds or even lost technologies of the Golden Age of Technology?" Gwyn asked, leaning forward resting his arms on his knees.
The Artist stopped moving his pen, looking up to the Primarch, who asked questions that so many others have requested more than a few times; "Why should we?" Leonardo asked as a returned question. "Mars is filled with so many lost treasures that we probably will never know hidden under the crust of the world. Tesla and I continue exploring and unearthing the secrets here." Leonardo explained, looking up to the sky.
Gwyn listen, but he felt like there is something more; "Truly, that is all?" he asked, tilting his head, staring at Leonardo.
The young Artist didn't speak but instead spun the pen around his fingers, thinking before stopping the action. "Do you know what happens when someone isn't part of high echelons of the Mechanicus, the lowly ones?" Leonardo asked, giving Gwyn his full attention.
Gwyn gave a shake of his head.
"Everyone is line up and match forward to be given a serial code for their name and a place where they will forever work for the rest of their lives. However, Tesla and I were thankful different. We said what our names were and began explaining something we saw. We taught a bit higher than average, but many didn't have too much fate, but luckily our teacher found us." Leonardo had a slight smile thinking about the past. "Fabricator-General is quite strange in some cases he likes to do inspection personally. We were both working on something stupid I can't remember, but what we were arguing about caught Cosano's attention. We were young had no idea or clue who this robed figure covered bionics and whatever else he had under there. However, he didn't notice him. We continue to debate and speak some of our theories. The Overseer got so mad at us for not giving the proper respect to the logic engine or even how we didn't even seem like we were doing our duty. I bet if old man Cosano hasn't been there, we would have punishment detail for years." Leonardo said with a smile shaking his head.
Gwyn found that very interesting in the culture of the Mechanicus. However, he didn't interrupt; instead, he continues to listen to the Magos.
"Anyways, nothing happened, and we didn't think much of it later on; however, one day, something change. I was out sketching out the scenery of our Hive when a couple high ranking Magos show up. He takes Tesla and me to Cosano, then the next thing I know, we are given a challenge by himself. It was just something minor fix something and appease the Machine Spirit within the device. We fixed it, of course, no trouble. We didn't know if the device had been an ancient logic engine that no one could fix. However, we did it without almost no effort." Leonardo said, glancing over to Tesla, who is still scouting out their path. "We later learn who Cosano is, and he took us under his wing. The Fabricator-General taught us everything we know, but we learn far more from our secrets from the depths of Librarius Omnis and other places. However, as so many people wonder about us not leaving, I guess the most straightforward way is why should we abandon the man that did so much for two lowly menials and raised us to heights we never thought possible." Leonardo said, giving a bit of a laugh.
Gwyn listens, completely understanding what Leonardo spoke of about giving someone a chance. He knew that many people of the Azyr system put their faith in him to save them from the darkness they had to suffer until his appearance. He especially knew that part of it had been Alien Space Bat that decides to form that system of worlds for his use.
"I understand that feeling perfect," Gwyn said, nodding to Leonardo, showing that he understood just that feeling completely.
Leonardo gave a smile, but Tesla interrupted them, "I think we need to move one of my servo-skull found something. We need to see this." Tesla said as he moved for them to follow.
Gwyn stood up. "Alright, let's go; hopefully, we can continue and find out what you found," Gwyn said, beginning to follow behind Tesla while Leonardo started putting away his small notebook and charcoal.
The group continues through the ever descending pathway, but the journey didn't have its issue, especially with the return of their purses each time. However, each time they were able to fight them off, but they would always retreat. Gwyn began to think they were becoming herd somewhere, but luckily they were still heading the correct way. However, the predators finally made their move as five Mechanicus Assassins finally made their appearance with the last of their surviving troops for a final assault. The three reacted quickly, with Gwyn drew Blue Star and Galvatron firing the two powerfully handguns. The three had begun rapidly working well together, but this last-ditch attempt seemed to be their test. However, Gwyn is a Primarch, a Demi-God of the battlefield and fighting.
The five Mechanicus Assassin focus solo on Gwyn; their mechadendrites, weapons, and other hidden tools to kill him were all out. He quickly dodges several blade-like mechadendrites, not to mention he notice a few held some radium weapons, which made the gunfire between them difficult. Gwyn sees out of the corner of the Primarch's eye that both Tesla was seemingly dealing with all those around with his arc pistols and the strange electric sphere protecting him. Leonardo seems to have the time of his life dueling the last, reminding Rustalkers that they were struggling to keep up with him. However, Gwyn dodges one of the blade tip mechadendrites that barely miss his cheek. The best way for the Primarch could even describe a whirlwind of blades that the average human eye couldn't help keep up with, even if they were bionic or even genetically enhanced. Gwyn once again is thankful for being a Primach one couldn't even explain just how much of life cheat being a Primach truly is in this universe. The Nameless King made his move, grabbing the first assassin, quickly using her as a shield from the radium shot that killed the female assassin. Before the other four could react, Blue Star's barrel places itself right at the forehead of another killer. The blue plasma blast is a thing of beautiful melting the assassin's bionics and flesh before they knew what happened.
The last three remaining didn't even faze by the death of their fellows, for they were back trying to kill him. One of the assassins got caught by the green particle beam of Galvatron with a point-blank shot. The sight of the killer slamming down into the ground continuing to compressing into the ground, their body crushing itself from its new gravity. However, Gwyn quickly returned to dodging the gunfire and whirling blades from the last two remaining killers. It seems these two were siblings from what little he could tell from their mannerism and height. The Primarch knew better than everyone telling one Tech-Priest from another is a hopeless thing, especially if they were older had far more bionics and machines than flesh. He dodges another whirling strike and a blast from a radium pistol. Gwyn began using a bit of gun-fu, quickly reacting as he went for a stabbing motion with his plasma gun. The assassin dodged, but it is what Gwyn wanted as he continues his strike until angling it so Gwyn could capture the back of the neck, pulling the woman forward throwing her into her brother. As they stumble into each other, Gwyn fired Galvatron, causing the two to slam into the ground with crushing pressure. The shot had been perfect, and the two were creating a small outline of their body from the continued pressure.
It wasn't long before they were dead from their organs crushed. Gwyn turned around, seeing that his companions finished their enemies as well. Gwyn notices that it seemed like no one is left and that had been their final attempt to kill them. He let out a sigh holstering his weapons before turning his head, looking at the prize which Tesla wanted them to see. The giant craven covered by one of the enormous, highly advanced doors told Gwyn all he needed to know. They found the entrance to the Void Dragon's prison. Once, again the Primarch wished he could have gone by himself and not have others with him, but once again, fate seemed to intervene what he wanted.
"Now that is one large vault door? I wondered if this is what at the center of the Noctis Labyrinth?" Tesla said, breathing hard as he walks forward, placing his hand onto the door with interest.
Leanardo flicked his blades, returning them into his body as he stroked his chin, looking up to the mysterious door. "Do you think we can open it?" he asked, examining some of the runes along the side of the door.
Gwyn stared at the door, knowing what is behind the door, a silver cavern holding the grand lie of Mars. However, the Primarch knew that if he didn't get help from the Silent King in the future, he would have to make an enemy into an ally against a common enemy. The problem is getting it to agree to help him but not freeing the creature either. Gwyn sighed, but he failed to notice gears' grinding from the vault door opening up, revealing a beautiful silver cavern as far as the eye can see. Gwyn notices how both Tesla and Leonardo did something to hidden consoles they found within the stone surface. Tesla stepped forward, touching the strange silver, almost metallic substance.
"Fascinating I have never seen a metal like this anywhere on Mars before," Tesla said, motion for Leonardo to come close, which he did, touching the surface too and examining it with his bionic eyes.
"I agree, Nikola. I have never seen something like this before. If I am judging the age of these cravens and valleys, we have been hiding in. Then this metal is probably far older." Leonardo whispered as the two began to go deeper into the craven.
Gwyn stared out into the darkness, knowing that it is time for him to descend into the belly of the beast. He followed behind the two Magos, completely unaware they were heading into a dangerous and forbidden place. The group continues to descend the silver craven seemed to continue forever, but Leonardo had begun to sketch the glittering silver coming off the walls. However, soon they began seeing very ancient-looking piping and machinery as they continue their descendent into the darkness. They didn't stop moving deeper down while Gwyn continues to scan the area, realizing that they seemed to have gone a different way than Adept Dalia went when she first came to become the Guardian. He wondered if it had been plain luck or stupidity that they found another way.
It wasn't long before they reached a massive opening, the sight of a great chamber of basalt machines and devices of antique silver towering all around them. There are flickering beams of unexplained energies all around, causing everything to have a low glow. The machinery is ancient beyond anything that either Tesla and Leonardo had found before their dives into the unknown. However, what interested them is the glittering energy arc around the great chamber. They seem to find some console of sort or maybe even a pipe organ in the room's center.
"What's that?" Leonardo said, noticing what looks like a sleeping arrangement within the center of the massive console.
Tesla stepped forward slowly, hand resting upon his arc pistol in the case until he is only a few feet away, giving him a far better look. "A few journals, blanket, and half-eaten ration bar. However, this console is something completely foreign. The Machine Spirit is a very ancient Leonardo. I haven't seen anything like this in a long time, and that is when Fabricator-General took us on a tour of his private workshop, showing us a few things we would run into when we first started our expedition." Tesla said in awe at the simple humming from the device.
"Who are you?" the sound of an ancient, tired voice echoed throughout the chamber.
Everyone turned, seeing a figure of legend Adept Semyon stood eyes widen in shock at seeing others within his home and prison. However, Gwyn notices the man looked very worn, probably more so than likely what the future Adept Dalia will know once she takes Semyon's place. Leonardo stepped forward-looking at the unhood figure blinking a few times, almost like he couldn't believe who they were seeing.
"You're Semyon?" he asked, pointing towards the Adept, who blinked again, almost like he didn't understand or not believe there are people here.
"Who are you?" the Guardian asked again.
Gwyn could only guess what Semyon is going through, but what more is how long the man has been down here dealing with a literal God locked within the depths of Mars. He avoids the conversation that starts to go between the three. The Primarch strolled forward to the strange organ pipe device within the center, a peculiar opening with cables leading downwards which he couldn't see the bottom. However, what Gwyn felt is pure, undiluted power oozing out from the hole in the ground. He only felt this once before, and that had been on Hyish during his time with the Beacon. The Nameless King swallowed, knowing that this is indeed the Void Dragon, Mag'ladroth, laying down in the depths of Mars because of the Emperor.
"What are you doing? Step away from there." Semyon yelled, rushing over, not realizing anything as he grabbed Gwyn's arm, trying to pull him away from the hole.
Tesla and Leonardo moved towards where Seymon had rushed over to stop Gwyn from doing something stupid. Tesla is the one that stopped moving, almost like he felt something far more ancient than anything else laying under their very feet. He quickly backed away the sense of dread is entirely overwhelming as it began hard to breathe for him. Leonardo didn't seem much better, especially that overcoming the feeling of fear too. The two back away, not wishing to get closer to whatever is down there. They are breathing, coming out in gasp while Seymon finally pulled Gwyn away from the edge of the opening. The group is ultimately behind the massive console. Seymon quickly went to the seat, carefully checking over several different monitors and dials and adjusting whatever seemed to be different.
Once finished, Seymon turned around, looking at them; "Now what are you doing here, and who are you?" he asked again, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "How did you get in here? No one should know about this place. You aren't the new Guardian for the Dragon; I did not send out the call yet. I am still fit for my duty." Seymon exclaimed, looking at the three bloodshot eyes staring at them, wanting answers.
"Guardian?" Tesla asked, confused about the statement.
"What Dragon?" Leonardo asked, even more confused by the statement.
Seymon blinked upon hearing the reaction trying to back away until hitting the console, terrified of the intruders standing before him. He tried to reach for something or, better yet, anything to grab to defend himself. However, Gwyn raised his hands, stopping the action of the Adept trying to find his weapon. The move didn't make Seymon worry anymore, but he did start looking at his guest for the first time in a long time. The Guardian notices two Magos from just the seemliness bionics hidden within their flesh. While the other one is what he could figure is a gene warrior of some kind. However, the feeling of familiarity coming off the giant is something that he couldn't truly place.
"I am Gwyn," the Primarch introduces himself, deciding to start with introduction; "These two are Magos Leonardo da Miragliano, and Magos Nikola Tesla; both are very gifted in appeasing the Machine Spirit. The current Fabracitor-General taught these two." Gwyn explained, introducing them to Seymon.
The little heavily robe figure gave a slight nod of understanding, but fear and worry still played across his face. "How did you get here. How did you find the main chamber?" he whispered, wanting to have his answers from these two.
"That is our fault Adept Seymon. Tesla and I could coax the Machine Spirit of the door to open, allowing us entrance. As for how we came here, we followed the silver along the craven the whole time. We had just come upon here." Leonardo explained, hoping to ease the ancient Adept from any rashness.
Tesla joined into the conversation; "A particular rival faction attacked our transport within the Mechanicus. We survived several days within the Noctis Labyrinth, but our pursers consistently attacked us." Tesla explained.
Seymon licked his crack lips, trying to see if he saw any deceit coming from them. He didn't see anything that gave him a signal, but he noticed how Gwyn looked at the console and a particular item connected to the central console. Seymon moved to block the device, sure why Gywn seemed so interested in staring at the device.
"All you need to leave. It's not safe staying here, especially while the Dragon is sleeping, for even something like this still can dream. Those dreams can influence the world around them." Seymon whispered, wanting them to leave right away.
Gwyn turned his head, looking at his two friends for a moment; "Tesla, Leonardo; give me a moment with Adept Seymon. I want both of you to try and find a way out." Gwyn said, showing that he needed to speak with Seymon about something very critical.
The two Magos didn't say anything for a moment, but it is Tesla that spoke, "No, I think we should stay. Gwyn, you seem to know what this place is and what is seal under our feet. So what is it, you know?" Tesla asked, a hand going to the handle of his pistol.
Leonardo also lowers his hands, preparing to activate his weapons if something is about to happen, especially since he agreed with Tesla. "I agree with my friend here, Gwyn. What do you know?" Leonardo asked, preparing to draw his power sword.
Seymon had also reached for his pistol, pointing it right to Gwyn shaking badly.
Gwyn didn't say anything is staring right at Seymon for the longest time before letting out a sigh but speaking a few things that should hopefully ease some worry. "Nagash, Mag'ladroth, Void Dragon, and Saint George and the Dragon," Gwyn said, naming three things that caused Seymon to dropped the pistol, which fell to the ground.
"How" Seymon whispered out the word.
Gwyn sighed, looking at everyone for a moment; "One of the planets from my home system, I found something ancient there. I had been able to drive it off, but it escaped. After I reclaimed the world, I explored and learned everything I could from their strange runes. During my research, I found mention of Mag'ladroth the Void Dragon over and over again. I unleashed this so call Great Necromancer Nagash onto the stars, and I wish to speak to this Void Dragon about a foe that fought against a higher being." Gwyn explained, thinking about the failure he had on Shyish.
The Adept didn't speak for a long moment. Some argument is going between his eyes, raging about within his mind. Gwyn didn't say anything, but Tesla and Leonardo did seem to have something as they continue to stare at Gwyn, almost like they didn't understand what he appeared to be saying.
Gwyn beat their question before they could speak it; "They were significantly advance, you two. I mean far more advance that we couldn't even match them during our height. The weaponry, technology, and even some of their science I could figure out is just a tiny drop." Gwyn explained, continuing to watch Seymon continue to struggle with indecision.
"You found a very advanced alien civilization?" Leonardo asked, wholly stumped by what he just heard.
Gwyn gave the nod; "Yes, and they are still out there sleeping or in some hibernation, and they will wake up again, but when is something I don't know. The Tomb World I stumble on, and the leader I fought seemed to be a renegade or even a betrayer of his race. The little bit I decipher told me that the Betrayer tried to bind the Void Dragon to him during something called the War in Heaven." Gwyn explained, looking at Seymon, still trying to figure out if he will allow him to speak with the Dragon.
The ancient Adept moved away, scared for the dreams, spoke of a King of Storms will come to speak with the Dragon. However, he first thought they were dreams from the Dragon, but now he did not know, but he saw the twin-tailed comet's symbol in one of his dreams. Seymon just felt like Gwyn is that symbol for some reason. He moved away, gently picking up a strange helmet which the Primarch took moving to the massive console placing the helmet over his head and eyes. Seymon moved away as the Primarch sat down and began the interaction with the Dragon of Mars.
"What is he doing?" Leonardo asked, watching Gwyn seem to grow ridged.
Seymon turned his head, looking at the two Magos, having not spoken to anyone for a very long time. "Gwyn is going to talk with the Dragon of Mars. I don't know how long it will take, but the process will take a while if it ever does. The Dragon isn't the most friendly or sane being from what little I have seen within its dreams." Seymon whispered, remembering so many dreams and how they whispered in his sleep. He took a shaky breath before giving his full attention to Leonardo and Tesla; "Please come, I haven't been out to Mars in a very long time. I wish to know what has happened during my absence if you don't mind." Seymon said, having a shaky smile.
The two Magos looked at the Adept for a long time before looking back at Gwyn, knowing they couldn't do anything from a machine they didn't understand or even have a chance to examine. However, Gwyn seems to be content from how he sat down, but still, they were on guard, especially about hearing about the Dragon of Mars, a living being.
"That sounds like a good idea, but if you could explain the Cult of the Dragon? Finding something interesting with a secret society within Mars." Leonardo asked, especially one ancient and tiny kitted sect like the Cult of the Dragon.
Seymon gave a slight nod; "I can maybe answer a few questions either of you has, but do not expect much the technology keeping the Dragon here is far beyond anything we can hope to understand without decades of research." He said to the two as they slowly moved away from the console to begin their discussion.
The Prison of the Dragon
Gwyn looked around into the blackness of the world around him. There isn't a single speck of light anywhere, but he felt eyes of something upon him. The blackness continues forever, almost like a Musou Black which no light came through. However, the feeling of something watching Gwyn told the Primarch there is a present out there in the black. Gwyn knew that this is simply a matrix-like experience that allowed the Guardians to keep an eye on the Dragon. However, it wasn't for someone to speak with the Dragon directly. Gwyn began moving forward slowly to find the dreaming C'tan within its world. However, the blackness made it impossible to tell if Gwyn is making any progress, but he continues moving forward one step at a time. The idea of time seemed pointless in the black, yet Gwyn continues stepping forward, eyes scanning throughout the black, unable to see. An eerie green glow appeared in the distance for what felt like hours, which followed up with the silver sheening of necrodermis metal beginning appeared from the darkness. He stopped when suddenly the blackness vanished with digitally pixelated flames spreading across the landscape.
The sight before Gwyn is that of a massive necrodermis shape western-style dragon. There is arcing green lighting coming along the enormous shape. There are neon green symbols with digital pixels surrounding the length of the Dragon's body. A rumbling of a massive head began to lift itself, shifting itself around to stare at the Lord of the Storms. Those glowing green eyes stared down to a lesser being as if Gwyn was nothing but an insect before a Star God. Gwyn stood his ground, though, but fear course through Gwyn's brain and body at something so powerfully that is feared by the galaxy.
Mag'ladroth did not speak stared down at the insect before speaking in the native language of the Necrontyr. The being continues to talk, but Gwyn did not understand what the Void Dragon is speaking. Void Dragon continuing speaking until it finally stopped seeing that Gwyn didn't seem to understand or even bow before its greatness. A rumbling growl escaped between its massive maw as digital spears began to form all around Gwyn's position, ready to kill him. However, Gwyn's stubbornness started to play about not bowing his head to anyone, neither Emperor of Mankind, Chaos Gods, nor Star Gods. He is the Nameless King and Lord of Lightning for a perfect reason. He stood tall, wondering if this is the Primarch mind and body becoming troublesome once again.
"The smell of that thing is thick on you. The presence, which is blinding, struck me down from my sleep and forced me into prison. An offspring, but no, I taste the vile heavens upon you. Yet I taste nothingness just like my presence will do to those insects and those vile Aeldari." Mag'ladroth whispered out, beginning to move its massive body.
Gwyn watched the Void Dragon began moving to notice how it spoke like Benedict Cumberbatch in the lowest tone possible. He sees the dark silver coating, but something strange is amiss from its massive form. A piece of its mighty shape seems missing as if a shard, nothing more or less a single shard a portion of the Void Dragon's presence is missing. He remembers how there is a Shard of the Void Dragon out in the galaxy on an Eldar Maiden World. Gwyn just couldn't remember the name. Mag'ladroth stared at Gwyn with those glowing green eyes, almost like they saw everything, but Gwyn held strong.
"I am the son of the being that struck you down and forced you in to your prison under Mars. However, I am without a Soul." Gwyn explained, keeping eye contact with the massive Dragon. "That is not why I am speaking with you, though, because we have a common enemy that even the mighty Mag'ladroth Void Dragon has another shard of his being," Gwyn said, noticing the second part of the mighty shape of the Dragon missing.
The spears inched closer to Gwyn's form, but he did not move; instead, he kept still keeping eye contact, showing no fear. "Who do you think can take a shard of my essence from the destroyer like I?" the Star God growled out, moving closer, but continue to flicker in and out of existence.
"You were able to collect many of your shards during the imprisonment by the Necrons and the Silent King. However, even if you were able to escape from your pursers going into hiding upon ancient Terra. You end up here captured by another for something else." Gwyn explained the spears, reaching closer with each passing word. "However, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, as the saying goes. I know where one of your shards is and the Necron that holds it." Gwyn said, keeping his steady heartbeat steady.
"Has the Silent King return from his so call Exile? Does that mean the great awaking has come upon the Necron to awake from their long sleep? Do they wage the endless war against you foolish primitives? Is that why you come begging for my mighty strength?" Void Dragon whispered, still watching Lord of Lightning smoke coming from its mouth.
Gwyn knew the next word would cause the situation to fall apart, but he didn't care. It had to happen to get the Dragon thinking. Star Gods were full of themselves, which is their downfall, but Mag'ladroth seems like a completely different beast, low cunning and intelligence held within those glowing green eyes. However, he knew that he had time before things spiral out of control Nagash is a cunning one, a spider weaving his web across the galaxy.
"I speak of Nagash the Great Necromancer, the Great Betrayer, Usurper, Undying King, Supreme Lord of Undeath. A few C'tan and Dynasties whisper He Who Shall Not Be Named," Gwyn said the name of the hated enemy that took a piece of Mag'ladroth before the revolt of the Silent King.
Gwyn quickly dodge out of the way of the spears suddenly sent flying right towards him, but the Primarch got out of the way. He needs to do something, but it seemed like Mag'ladroth had complete control, but the anger and rage is something he felt. The Nameless King dodged another spear but quickly grabbed it, hoping that the Primarch didn't come pixelated by holding the weapon. However, luck seemed on his side when nothing happened as he throws it right into the flesh of the Dragon. The green spear flew straight towards the side of the Dragon, striking its living metal flesh. The Primarch truly hoped that the crazy plan would at least give him a chance to get Mag'ladroth to at least get to hear what Gwyn had to say. The probably with Star Gods were Gods, which meant they would not listen to a lower being even if the Storm King is a Primarch.
The Spear of the Void Dragon flew straight and true right into the flank of the mighty Mag'ladroth. The result is something that Gwyn could expect, for the glowing green spear made contact with an explosion became the result. The Primarch flew back from the aftershocks, but he bent down, keeping on his feet refusing to fall. However, Gwyn didn't even get a chance to process what happened next, saying something about how quickly a Primarch's mind process. A massive silver claw surged through the smoke, grabbing Gwyn trapping him before slamming him into the ground, causing the breath to escape his lungs and the sound of breaking bones from his ribs, arm, and he thinks his leg. He grunted, opening his eyes, staring right into the burning green of Mag'ladroth.
"The dirty thief, that is just what you are, just like the others. The Deceiver and Nightbringer tried to use me, but I drove them back like all the others. Those foolish lowly Aeldari and their so-call God 'Vaul' wanted to destroy me. They failed, and I brush aside them like lowly beings. They indeed are in my eyes. The Silent King and Great Betrayer tried to shatter me like so many, but I remind vital, powerfully, and unbeatable. They ran away, afraid of my greatness." Mag'ladroth growled out, leaning its massive head closer to Gwyn. "Than the dirty thieves stole a piece of my essences, weakening me during my moment of triumph against all. I escape on some lowly planet to meet that being who defeated me. He trapped me, used me, and left me buried under the red sands of this world. He, too, will suffer my wraith. However, right now, you will die before my might." the words seether out between the fangs.
Gwyn fought against the grasp of the Void Dragon. Gwyn refuses to yield, speaking about past slights to the Void Dragon's eons past during its time throughout the galaxy. However, the Storm King cared nothing for that, for he finally saw a weakness. Upon the Star God's massive chest is two missing 'scales' is the best way Gwyn could understand it. An open wound rest upon Mag'ladroth's chest forever, the remainder of the Star God's failure and slight against the galaxy.
"I will enjoy rending you apart," Mag'ladroth whispered out, opening up its maw, ready to finish Gwyn off within this strange reality.
The Nameless King never ceased struggling, but he kept trying to figuring out anything, knowing that using the Dragon's spears wouldn't do much. Gwyn had to think of something anything to escape. He held out his hand, almost wishing for his beloved Ghal Maraz will appear within his grasp. Mag'ladroth maw filled with long sharp fangs of necrodermis closer to Gwyn's face. Suddenly, a burning glow appeared within the grasp of Gwyn's hand, causing the Void Dragon to reel back in shock. That sudden motion gave the Primarch all the time he needed gripping the handle swinging down, striking the claw of Mag'ladroth with a resounding crash. Gwyn blinked, rising, looking down at his hand, feeling the grip of Ghal Maraz in his grasp. He didn't understand the war hammer is on Dracothion, yet here it is in Gwyn's hands.
"NNNNNOOOOOO," Mag'ladroth roar out spears forming around its massive body. "I rule this prison no one else, only ME," the Star God screamed, spears sent flying right to Gwyn.
However, the Lightning Lord swatted the spears away as if they were flies to Gwyn as Ghal Maraz began to glow golden lightning crack along the head of Ghal Maraz flicks of fire seeming to join the arcs of lightning. Gwyn lifted the mighty hammer resting it on his shoulder for a long time, looking around the blackness seeing it in a completely new light.
The only thing coming to Gwyn is Matrix and Inception; feeling the weight of Ghal Maraz upon his shoulder told him all he needed to know about the device and prison holding the Void Dragon. The Primarch rushed forward unafraid swinging his hammer, which slammed into the side of Mag'ladroth flank, sending the massive Dragon to the side. The C'tan skids from the strike. The Void Dragon's expression is shocking, not understanding what is happening, but before it could do anything, Ghal Maraz struck true again, hitting the flank again. However, this time the Dragon flew onto its side. Mag'ladroth reacted to the action spears forming out of nothingness, beginning to fly towards Gywn that the mortal's eye couldn't keep track of the blurs. However, Gwyn held no problem keeping track, batting away each spear with surprising finesse with the oversize war hammer. Each time Ghal Maraz struck true, lightning seemed to flash flames dance along the Primarch's path.
Gwyn seemed unstoppable, batting away spears side to side. Mag'ladroth let out a roar releasing green fire that well up deep from the back of its throat. The green fire jetted forward, engulfing the whole area, even engulfing Gwyn in green flames. C'tan relishes another death of an enemy even if it is not the being which the Star God wished to destroy. However, Mag'ladroth felt something shining through the flames, almost like a comet flying straight to the massive steel dragon. The head of Ghal Maraz struck right between the eyes of the Dragon, disorientating the beast, not realizing that his flames were split in half by the war hammer.
The Nameless King rushed forward, jumping, grabbing the falling weapon before falling like a comet slamming right on top of Mag'ladroth, sending shockwaves throughout the blackness. Mag'ladroth hit straight down, causing a miniature earthquake trying to regain its sense, but suddenly the chilling sense of fear rippled through its metal body. Ghal Maraz's war pick end stabbed within the glowing wound of the Void Dragon. Gwyn stared into the glow green hate-filled eyes of Mag'ladroth, who slide its long thick neck around staring at the Primarch. It let out a growl but stop feeling the hammer's pick end dig deep into its essence feeling something off from the hammer.
"Now that I have your attention, Mag'ladroth, I think we have something to discuss before I leave here. You will have plenty of time to think about the proposal or plan my death. However, I want you to know that I will be far stronger than I am now, even more experience when I come back. So you better decide because I will be far more prepared and far better weapons and armor." Gwyn whispered, twisting the pick into the gaping wound.
Mag'ladroth let out a growl staring at Gwyn with a look that told the Primarch if he didn't have Ghal Maraz where he did, the void would send its spear right at him until there is nothing left of his body.
Outside the Dragon of Mars Prison
Semyon returned to the massive machine seeing the Primarch still sitting where he left him. The two Magos' footsteps followed behind, stopping once they saw that Gwyn hadn't awakened yet from the device. Semyon shuffled forward, hoping the Primarch is still alive within the chair. The only reason he survived for so long is the Emperor's ability to be forever alive until his heir comes to replace him. Leonardo came forward first, examining Gwyn looking up and down at the massive Primarch is connected into ancient older than anything Tesla, and he could hope to find within their expeditions and digs.
"So what does this do exactly, Adept Semyon?" Leonardo asked, examining a few of the consoles and wiring with a craftsman's eye.
Semyon licked his lips before speaking, trying not to reveal too much; "It's a way for one to communicate with the Dragon. However, the process is dangerous, and if you don't have particular abilities, life-threatening. We have been talking for quite a few hours, but for Gwyn, it must be far longer than we could guess." Semyon whispered, checking a few dials making minor adjustments.
The Adept is about to make another minor adjustment. Gwyn's hand reached out, claiming the pale wrist being gentle from his grip. Semyon yells in shock from the sudden awaking as Gwyn removed the device from his face and head, placing it back within its stand. The Primarch looks far more haggard than he did before even sitting down. Semyon notice Gwyn let go of his hand, allowing him to rub his wrist, seeing not even a bruise on his pale, thin wrist. The Primarch slowly stood up, stretching, blinking several times, even going as far as rubbing his eyes. The Lord of Storms let out a sigh turning to look at the three watching him.
"Too long," Gwyn answered, not expanding on his experience with the Dragon of Mars.
Seymon gave a slight nod in understanding, having dealt with the darkness and the dreams of the Dragon for centuries. He knew all too well the feeling which affected a man's soul and mental ability to face such raw power. A shudder went through Seymon's body, pulling his robes closer to his body, fighting off the nonexistence chill he got. Tesla came over to the throne, allowing his eyes to scan over the equipment seeing it will genuinely take decades, maybe longer, to understand the machine's inner workings. That isn't even speaking about the Machine Spirit. Leonardo got a soft smile before pulling Tesla away, for they wouldn't get to leave this ancient chamber.
Gwyn stared down into the abyss for a long moment, phantom pains echoing throughout his body from his fight. He knew that he barely survived and only thanks to dealing with Dragons' previous on Ulgu. However, the Void Dragon isn't just a regular dragon, but a C'tan, Star God, still almost full put together with only two shards missing from its body. The only reason why Gwyn survived is overconfidence on the Mag'lardoth part and Ghal Maraz appearing. He hoped the offer would make that prideful Star God think about the possibilities. The Nameless King shook his head, letting out a sigh, knowing that it is time for them to leave. They dealt with their pursers. The fallout is what Gwyn is most curious about once they reach the surface. Gwyn let out a sigh before turning his attention to the three speaking about the massive console once again, with Tesla pointing to a few particular parts. Leonardo seems to shake his head and saying something else, which made Tesla frown stroke his chin.
"Are you two ready to return to the surface?" Gwyn said, finally announcing his presence, causing the three to up a bit from their in-depth conversation.
Tesla blinked a few times before letting out a sigh; "I guess although I wished we could remain a few more hours. The ancient technology here is" Tesla couldn't put his thoughts into words which is rare in itself.
Leonardo gave a wistful sigh; "Agree, Seymon here is a wellspring of ideas and knowledge. Sadly, Seymon took up the duty as Guardian." Leonardo said, looking at Seymon, who is carefully checking everything before sitting down at the console.
"It is the duty I took up, and I will continue to do so until the new Guardian comes to take my place," Seymon said, beginning to prepare to dive into the prison. He did stop until looking at the two Magos; "However, the conversation we had to remind me of my younger years back when I wished to learn everything and change the galaxy more than anything else. I am glad there are others out there just like me hoping to keep pushing beyond what we thought is the height of humanity." Seymon said with a smile placing the device upon his face.
Gwyn walked up to the ancient man placing a hand onto his shoulder, leaning down, whispering something into the man's ear for only he could hear. Seymon stopped his dive before chuckling whatever the Primarch told him.
"Thank you for telling me, Lord Gwyn," Seymon said, not allowing Gwyn to correct him before returning to the prison.
Seymon slumped into the chair as Leonardo and Tesla bowed their heads, honoring the man who gave himself to a higher purpose. Gwyn let out a sigh patting the man's shoulder before turning around and standing in front of the two Magos for a moment. No one didn't say anything for a moment staring at each other, almost like they didn't know how they could not speak at what they found in the depths of the legendary Noctis Labyrinth. However, for now, that conversation will have to wait until they reached back to the surface and get back to Olympus Mon and speak with the Fabricator-General.
"Shall we go?" Gwyn asked with a sad smile turning to look at Seymon one last time before turning around, leaving to one of the cravens that should allow them to return to the surface.
Tesla and Leonardo did one last look to a figure that they couldn't even put into words, but they bowed their heads before leaving the grand chamber. The three began their journey back through the maze, trying to reach the surface. Gwyn notices how the silver gleams within the darkness as they continue forward. It wasn't long before they got the same massive entrance they come through, stepping out into the cold Martian air coming through the doorway. The three stepped out, looking out to the valley they return. Still, the shocking sight is the Fabricator-General Maximus Cosano standing before them with a very highly advance, maybe, even prototype of the Domitar-class Battle Automata. If Gwyn had to guess, these were probably the Conqueror-class Battle-Automata, but far more enhanced. They stood around the entrance circling the three weapons raised, ready to destroy whoever enters the Noctis Labyrinth.
Maximus stared at the three for a long time; the glow coming from his bionic eyes stared at them for a long time. The massive machinal being let out a binary caused the two Magos to flinch at whatever they heard from their mentor. Gwyn stood in front of the two hands, moving towards his pistols, ready to fight if Maximus is an enemy. However, something unexpected happens as Gwyn saw more massive battle automata coming from all the hidden passengers beginning to move into the craven, but what more is they were spreading out the Noctis Labyrinth. He notices that they were far more like protectors and guardians, hidden and ready to react if someone wished to enter the depths.
"You three have caused quite a problem for me. You do know that, especially you two." Maximus said the clicking of machinal legs on the ground. "Lord Gwyn, I ask that what you saw you keep to yourself. What hides under here is far too dangerous than even I can know, and the Cult of the Dragon has protected this place since the founding. I must continue to keep the secrets of the Noctis Labyrinth hidden. I am sure you understand why such things wouldn't do if certain individuals know what is hidden." Maximus said with a bow of his head, but Gwyn stopped him.
"I understand entirely. Fabricator-General, my oath is to you after all. What I saw within the depths is just more cravens and beautiful rock formations, nothing else." Gwyn said, bowing his head towards the leader of the Mechanicus.
The digital laugh came from the vox box as Maximus laughed before giving Gwyn a bow in respect before turning his glowing optics upon his two students. "If you can share this old man some time with his students Lord Gwyn. I wish to speak with them. There is transport waiting for you since you have been gone for quite a while. So I believe that it will be a good idea to let Terra know you are uninjured again." Maximus said, using his massive ax to point to some servitor waiting to lead Gwyn away.
Gwyn gave the nod; "I understand entirely, and I shall let them know that there is nothing to stress about since you have rescued me." Gwyn said, walking away, following the two servitors beginning to move, following their creator's command.
Leonardo and Tesla felt like acolytes for the first time in a long time regarding their teacher's stare once Gwyn left them alone. No one said anything, simply staring at each other before finally, Maximus let out what is considered a sigh by such a machine-like being. He moved forward until motioning for his two students to sit down, which they did without issue. Maximus knew the two had a reputation of being eccentric within their order, more so than the two thought he didn't listen to rumors or the reports. However, they got results and passed expectations place upon them for being his students. Maximus remember the test he gave everyone, and only these two went beyond what he considered possible. They did so much more than he thought possible over the years, but now there is nothing he can do for them, not after seeing what lies under Mars now.
"You two will leave Mars and join the Second Legion in their Expedition Fleet, whichever the Primarch to the command. I shall gift both of you something that I have been working on since I took you as my students." Maximus let out a sigh feeling tired for the first time in centuries. "I wished I could have done this differently. You two could have changed our order into something more than anything we could imagine. I thank the Omnissah; everything seemed to line up, so you two will leave once Lord Gwyn's battleship arrives." Maximus said, trying to disregard the feeling of tiredness upon his body, but it could be his mortal soul.
Tesla blinked, not understanding what their mentor just told them or anything for that matter. "Are you exiling us?" Tesla asked, trying to process what is rapidly happening.
"In a way, yes. I am exiling both of you, but another way is I am forcing you out onto the galaxy to do some good. There is a certainty which many will come to you and try to figure out what you saw or even take it by force, for that matter. I am part of the Cult of the Dragon, and I can not let what you saw come to light. However, I will not kill you two that I consider," he paused, trying to pick up the correct term or word; "my sons" he finally spoke the word.
Leonardo and Tesla are speechless with the sudden statement that shocks their core for everyone even though Maximus is an anomaly. However, he is a dedicated follower of the Omnissiah, the teachings, and tenets. The mere fact the most powerful being on Mars considers these two lowly people within the vastness of Mars. They bowed their heads honor they suddenly felt by the simple statement of being called sons by the man they view as their father after many decades of learning at his feet.
The silence came over the three letting everything settle between them without words, for none needed to be said between the three ever. However, a cough from Maximus broke their moment, for the Fabricator-General never did like these emotional moments ever.
"Now, I will induct you into the Cult of the Dragon to give you a level of protection. However, leaving Mars will do that far better than the induction. I wish my gifts to both of you were at a moment of your choice to leave Mars. However, the will of the Omnissiah seems upon us, and I will not stand in your way. I hope you two enjoy your new vessels, but I also hope you change the galaxy wherever you travel. Just remember Mars." Maximus said, coming forward to the two and doing something completely unexpected and out of character of the man they grew up and learned.
The Fabricator-General hug his two sons with multiple bionic arms so he could engulf them both into his large hard bulk. Tesla and Leonardo smile at the action, yet they did try to escape, for some particular parts of Maximus were sharp poking into their flesh. Finally, the Fabricator-General pulled away, but not before patted them on the back, proud of their accomplishment even if it's not the way he wishes for them to happen.
"So what sort of vessel are you giving us for our gifts?" Leonardo asked, figuring that it is probably a cruiser or light cruiser from the Mechanicus.
"My personal Ark Mechanicus and one another. You two will have them. I refitted both Ark Mechanicus, so it's a blank slate for whoever picks it. However, the Machine-spirit on board hungry for sailing across the stars again. I can not let such a thing happen. The second one is one from a rival during my rise to this position I won before becoming the Fabricator-General." He said, remembering the time before being shackled with the title, he is part of the Great Crusade, finding treasures and STC before being called back to take his place as the Fabricator-General so long ago.
Tesla and Leonardo felt sick as they couldn't believe what they just heard, for the legendary Ark Mechanicus were so rare and still few in numbers that it is unheard of to give them away to people like them. Leonardo knew that he was not well-founded by the higher rank members of the order for various reasons. However, even then, Tesla is far more connected and respected, and no one would ever give them something as rare and powerfully as the Ark Mechanicus. That isn't even speaking about the fact that Maximus is gifting them his personal one too.
"Fabricator-General," Tesla said, kneeling showing that he couldn't accept these gifts; "Sir, you can't give us those ships. I feel like we can do far better with cruisers or light cruisers, for that matter. Not something as powerful or large as Ark Mechanicus. They can do far more good in far more worthy hands than ours." Tesla said, keeping his head bow the whole time.
Leonardo quickly followed Tesla's lead keeping his head down; "I agree with Nikola Fabricator-General these gifts are far too much for the likes of us." He added, keeping his eyes to the ground.
Maximus stared down at his sons for a long time before letting out another digital laugh at the reactions they seem to have from learning what they will receive from him. He continues to laugh for a few more moments until abruptly stopping staring at them; even with the glow coming from the bionics, they knew what he is about to say is essential.
"Prove me right why I am giving them to you. Prove those naysayers wrong. If you do that, then no one within the Mechanicus will doubt your abilities and gifts I give you. Show them why you follow the Omnissiah the way you do that even though you don't replace your flesh with technology, you keep your ideals just as strong if not stronger than others." Maximus said, slamming the butt of his ax into the ground, making sure the point came across to them.
They didn't say anything but remain on their knees before Fabricator-General Maximus for what felt like an eternity. No one did anything. The only sounds came from the Mars wind, Maximus' body, and humming from the battle automata waiting for orders. Finally, as if the two Magos agreed, they stood up together back's straight heads held high, staring at their teacher and father figure, showing that they will do that no doubt appeared in their eyes as they stared back.
"Good," Maximus said with a nod before turning around and walking away as the massive machines followed behind their creator, continuously scanning the area for attack.
"So I guess we are leaving Mars and joining the Great Crusade with Gwyn, huh," Leonardo said with a cocky smile resting upon his face thinking about the exciting fun they will get up to in the stars.
Tesla seems to have a melancholy expression upon his face looking up to the sky; "Yes, although I don't wish to leave Mars. I think it's time. Besides, the galaxy is quite vast, and we know there is technology out there that surpass us in every possible way. I, for one, wish to examine and truly see how to advance these beings indeed were since I feel like we will find many secrets that need unlocking." Tesla said, slowly changing that expression to one of interest and hungry for knowledge.
Leonardo gave a smile patting his brother's shoulder with a smile; "That we do, Nikola, the mysterious of the galaxy will fall to our combined knowledge and intelligence. Maybe we will meet some interesting ladies too." Leonardo said with a smile as the two began following the trail of the Fabricator-General.
The journey and tales of Archmagos Nikola Tesla and Archmagos Leonardo da Miragliano are covers in mystery once they join their fleets with the Second Legion. However, their discoveries and uncovered technology will suppress anything many other Explorator tried to live up to the standards these two set up upon officially joining the Great Crusade. The only one who outshines these two is technoarchaeologist Arkhan Land for his discoveries from Librarius Omnis. The three will have one of the strangest and complicated friendships that many of the Mechanicus still ponder upon as the Great Crusade continues to unify the galaxy.
Mars: Ring of Iron
Gwyn stared out at the massive shapes of the twin Ark Mechanicus floating in the void as they began to dock upon the gigantic Ring of Iron. However, Gwyn's attention most is the Gloriana Class Battleship coming from the Jovian Shipyards flying towards its place right next to the Ark Mechanicus ships. The Primarch found it hard to compare these massive ships of war to the Dracothion. Gwyn knew that his warship is completely unmatched from a time when humanity's technology level is at its highest peak before its fall. However, that didn't mean he looked down upon the Gloriana Class. The Primarch found the ship far more impressive upon looking at its size. The Primarch though he spent several months on Mars learning everything he could and discovering a few secrets within Librarius Omnis' depths with Tesla and Leonardo. However, the new friendship made him miss Elsa, Druuna, and Lileath even more now and wish to return to his sons and begin their duty to the Great Crusade.
"I see you are enjoying the sight of your new ship coming into port," Fabricator-General Maximus said, coming forward his bodyguards around him at all times.
Gwyn turned his head, nodding his head; "She beautiful and powerful, quite the apex predator, but I wonder how she will survive against my warship, the Dracothion." Gwyn said, giving his full attention to someone who earned his respect over the last few months.
The cybernetic being nodded his head, returning to look at his prize possessions, beginning their preparation for leaving the Sol System. "Thank you for agreeing to have those two to come part of your Expeditionary fleet. I worried that staying on Mars will destroy their potential. I know certainty the politics will have if given a chance. Those two are troublesome but very gifted by the grace of the Omnissiah." Maximus said, letting out a digital sigh.
It is one of the many things that Gwyn found strange about Fabricator-General the man seemed always to have human trendiness at the most random times. However, the Primarch also knew that Maximus is firmly a logical person, entirely basing everything on the numbers and calculations running through his cybernetic brain. The spark of humanity, Gwyn guessed, is what made so many of the Mechanicus find their Fabricator-General such an odd being. Yet, they couldn't deny the genius and abilities.
"You have no worries, Fabricator-General Maximus. If I am honest, I think Leonardo and Tesla will fit in just right with a few friends I know. I can honestly say that they will probably learn from my friend and vice versa with my friends." Gwyn said, thinking a few of the Dawi and Kharadon will think of the two Magos.
Maximus gave a nod of his head, pleased with hearing such a thing; "Yes, I have found the information provided to me about the Duardin people very fascinating. I hope they will share what they know just like we will share what we know." Maximus said, looking at some of the technical reports that the Duardin discovered or invented for themselves.
Gwyn began to chuckle a bit, hearing Maximus's interest before shaking his head; "As I said before Fabricator-General, you will have to see about that from themselves. They are a stubborn lot, but the Kharadon is a very business-mind group. I think the only love more than busy and money is their love for sailing across the void." He spoke, remembering how many people came to him about how ruthless the Kharadon dealt with goods.
The digital laugh came out from Maximus again that Gwyn had gotten used to after months of meeting with the Fabricator-General in private speaking about specific details. Gwyn looks over to the hunched figure, wondering if he somehow changed the fate of Maximus Cosano. He knew that Kelbor-Hal would become the next Fabricator-General in the future, but how close it will happen is what makes the Lord of Lightning so worry. The Primarch can only hope that Maximus Cosano will continue living and striding in his duties as Fabricator-General until something happens, fate, or a specific blue bird wishing to move some plans into play.
However, Gwyn knew its time to continue and gather those he made pacts with before heading back home to command his Legion. Although sadly, the Emperor returned to Terra once again to get Gwyn to give him his oath from the Astartes Tower, just like Horus and Russ before him. The strangest thing is the Emperor hasn't found Ferrus Manus yet, but from Gwyn's memory, the Gorgon is the next Primarch found after him. However, it seems like he won't get a chance to meet the Gorgon just yet, which suited the Nameless King just fine. The Primarch isn't sure if Gwyn is ready to meet any of his 'brothers' just yet, at least until the Nameless King joined a few conquest and campaigns to prove his worth. However, those thoughts were for later as he turned to give his full attention to Fabricator-General Maximus Cosano, showing every bit of respect to him.
Gwyn bowed his head; "I wish to convey my honor thanks for the hospitality Mars and the Mechanicus has shown me during my time learning. I thank you, personal Fabricator-General Maximus Cosano." Gwyn sincerely said to the man.
Maximus Cosano returned the bow; "I am honor to think so highly of those of the Mechanicus and me. I hope our relationship continues through the age of enlightenment. Thank you for accepting my students into our ranks too. I am sure they will not fail you." Maximus respond in kind as they each bow to one another.
The Storm King stopped bowing, first looking, overseeing the two new Magos standing eyes wide at the sight of their new vessels being load with their followers, legions of Skitarii, and whoever else is joining them to the galaxy. Gwyn wonders if they are overwhelmed but shook his head, having seen those two work miracles in the depths of Librarius Omnis with the barest working equipment. He knew they would do fine as he saw Maximus bid his goodbyes before heading to his students to give them either the last bit of advice or something else. Gwyn sighed, returning to the sight of his Gloriana Battleship, fresh and ready for war. The sounds of precise footsteps came forward, causing him to glance back and a small smile appear on his lips, seeing his two commanding officers of this warship.
Rae Sloane stopped giving Gwyn a firm salute of unification, which he returned, placing his fist against his heart. The woman slightly behind Rae Sloane gave the same salute with a fist over her breast. It surprised Gwyn that Miss. Sloane came to Mars instead of waiting for him to go to her, especially she brought her former naval commander, who also faced the same issue Miss. Sloane faces during their campaign. The woman is a bit taller than Rae; Gwyn could tell she is 1.73 meters in height. She wore the same placated uniform, everything in place, nothing out of order. Gwyn notice from those green eyes there is aggression, yet control that likes, which he seen as someone always doing all the work and ability. However, someone else claims all the glory and honors for themselves. There is a tactical look in the woman's green eyes that told Gwyn she is very gifted in the art of command and war. The young woman's most remarkable trait is her bright red copper hair with several braids spread out from the long hair length.
"Lord Gwyn, I once again thank you for allowing me the chance to sail the stars once again and wage war join the Great Crusade for the Imperium. However, I know that I am selfish, even a bit foolish, but I couldn't help bring my friend and fellow captain Natasi Daala to see if you will give her a chance like me. I can and will vouch for her ability, for she is the only one that took action and should have received her captaincy." Rae explained, staring up at Gwyn as she spoke.
Gwyn turned, taking in Natasi Daala, understanding what Rae is asking. He saw no issues, especially since he wanted talent and competent people rather those that got their rank through family connections or other reasons. However, Gwyn also knew that he couldn't just keep giving out handouts if they didn't get results.
"I give everyone their fair shot, and since Miss. Sloane vouches for you, Miss. Daala, then I will provide you with a chance. Suppose you are just as gifted as Miss. Sloane, then you will have a place within the Second Legion and the fleet. I have another Gloriana Class Battleship at my home, which is repaired from my sons' last campaign. If you can take command of the one here to Terra and partway to the Azyr system, you will become the Shipmistress." Gwyn laid out the challenge.
Natasi's eyes widen upon hearing what she meant to do to prove her worth to a Primarch of all people. Natasi knew when Rae vox her up on Terran to tell her to meet her that something is up, especially not hearing from her so long ago. However, she was drifting across Terra for so long and missed space for so long that she needed anything. Natasi remembered why the discharge didn't mean she liked it, especially her ' hands-on' commanding officer. The fact the copper hair woman gave the officer a firm right cross didn't have anything to do with the discharge, of course. Natasi met Rae, leading them to get passage for Mars. Miss. Daala stands in front of a Primarch who gives her command of a massive battleship as a test. If someone told her something like this would happen, she would have laughed in their face afterward, punching them right into their face.
Natasi gave a salute, chest-puffing out, feeling a sense of challenge, something that she has been missing for such a long time in her mundane life after the navy. "Of course, my Lord, you have nothing to worry about sailing. I'm void born and bred. It will be good to be at the helm of such a mighty ship. What are you going to call her, if I may ask?" Natasi asked, glancing over to the unnamed battleship.
Gwyn turned to look out the waiting vessel in thought for a moment before a nod finding the perfect name arrangement for this battleship and the one dock at Hysh shipyard. "She is named Weisshaupt, and she will sail the course for those that take the grey," Gwyn said, nodding his head finding a home for the Grey Wardens of his legion.
Natasi found the name very strange; "Weisshaupt, huh," she said, staring out at the massive ship, strangely feeling as if its appropriate name.
The Primarch gave the nod before looking at the two; "Go ahead, prepare for the trip. I must return to Terra one last time before we can live. While I am on Terra with specific responsibilities, I have left for the Emperor. You will receive guests from Luna allow them onboard with no trouble. After I met with the Emperor, we shall department I am ready to return home and my friends and sons." Gwyn explained, turning around dismissing the two women, which they did without a single issue heading to the docking port connected to the newly named Weisshaupt.
Once again, Gwyn is by himself before chuckling, finally connecting the dots between the two women and that strange tactical acumen coming from both women. He found the irony of the situation, and people he ran into told him that an expeditionary fleet is a fascinating group of characters in the future. That probably change the Great Crusade forever. Gwyn stared out to the blackness past the coming and goings of the Ring of Iron, knowing that he set upon his path of being a symbol of the Imperium. He sometimes wondered if he did change the directions of those brothers that needed help on their worlds. The Nameless King sometimes wonders if his luck is just that bad for being trapped in the reality of Warhammer. The only saving grace is he knows what is coming, and he can only prepare for what comes his way. Gwyn can only hope that Gwyn can have a strong bond with a few Primarchs once they are all discovered. However, being what Gwyn is, he shouldn't hope for much, for everyone can't handle a powerful Pariah on a good day. He didn't want to think what an average person felt whenever he unleashed his aura on someone.
Gwyn let out a sigh seeing that he is overthinking again, before turning around away from the view out to the void. In the end, it didn't matter. Gwyn just had to survive and hopefully make this reality a better place for his wives, people, sons, and hopefully the few brothers he can get along with once they meet. The Primarch turned around, leaving the same way the two Admiral left, heading on board to make his way back to Terra for one last conversation with the Emperor of Mankind.
Imperial Palace Astartes Tower several days after returning from Mars
The tower is quite impressive; the height reaches far above anything Gwyn could guess, for it just continues going up. From the Horus Hesery book series, he remembers that the Lord of Iron found the climb up these stairs a struggle with each step becoming difficult. The Nameless King let out a sigh beginning his climb up the tower, unsure if the Primarch will understand the physical, mental, and spiritual test the Emperor is giving him. However, Gwyn will complete the test simply so he can leave Terra. While Gwyn took each time at a time, he began pondering if this tower name after the famous Amar Astarte, who help created the Astartes after the Thunder Warriors. It made sense, but the woman did try to destroy her work after realizing that the Primarchs stole by Chaos, so they didn't have the genetic source. Gwyn understood Amar's reasonings, yet, ironically, Amar Astartes forever remember for Emperor's Legionius Astartes. He shook his head, figuring that trying to unravel that mystery better left alone than digging too deep into it especially climbing the Astartes Tower.
The Nameless King continues to climb, keeping his mind occupied remembering old songs that allow him not to focus on the climb. It helps many journeys up, but Gwyn began feeling the weight of something press down upon his shoulders with each step he took to reach a new phase. However, Gwyn kept going, not focusing on the climb itself but rather the songs and music the former mortal hummed to himself over and over again. The Primarch is glad that he paces himself on the rise, not wishing to tire himself out since he knew that he had a limit. Gwyn could tell time began feeling meaningless, taking another step then another humming requiem D minor going so far as pretending to play the instruments for each part of the orchestra. He kept his eyes close as he continues his climb, but the weight continues growing with each step. A small amount of Gwyn wondered if he will fail the test place in front of him. The only Primarch who is unable to climb the Astartes Tower while all other Primarchs could do it. That thought cause Gwyn to stop humming, beginning to chuck before a full blow laugh came out of his mouth, yet he never stops moving forward.
Gwyn continues to laugh until he finally reached the door leading to the office which the Emperor is waiting for him. He eventually began to regain himself after what seemed like he laughs the rest of the way up the tower. Gwyn chucked a bit, wondering if maybe the original Primarch of this body failed and died because it simply became the Unknown Primach because of embarrassment. That caused Gwyn to go back to laugh as he opens the door of the study seeing the Emperor about to sit down, blinking upon seeing Gwyn laughing as he came into the room.
"Something funny?" he asked, leaning back into his chair, wondering how it is possible to reach him so quickly. It took Horus and Russ far longer to get to the study, and Gwyn did it in record time, which should be impossible.
The Astartes Tower tests the Emperor's son's dedication to mental, physical, and unknowingly spiritual aspects. That is why the Emperor built the Tower using specific psychic wards to make the journey far longer than it seems. However, Gwyn doesn't even look tired or winded from the challenge of climbing the stairs. Revelation glances down at Gwyn's finger seeing the Ring is still firmly on Gwyn's finger.
"I am sorry. I just found something funny once I got halfway up, I think, then the rest of the climb flew by, I guess." Gwyn said, laughing after a few words, finally calming himself down.
The Nameless King stood in the center of the study seeing all the devices and tomes around that seem very chance, but it is the strange telescope that Gwyn found most interesting. The item seemed ancient, but it looked like one of those high-tech telescopes you see at the stores to Gwyn. The Primarch returned his attention to the Emperor, who seemed deep in thought about what Gwyn told him about finding something funny, which allowed the test to flew by for him.
"Interesting," the Emperor said, leaning back in his chair looking at his son for a long time; "You have learned all you can here, it seems from what Valdor and Malcador reported to me. You understand the process of the Great Crusade and the Mechanicus since the Fabricator-General sent me a glowing report and message about your gift for machines and easing the machine spirits." The Emperor said, looking over at some parchment filled with reports upon Gwyn.
Gwyn gave the tiniest of shrugs; "I had to make planetary conquest during my unification of the Eight Worlds. I may not be the most normal General, but I know my way of commanding and leading men. I'm not too fond of wasting men in needless battle unless it's indispensable. However, I can make those hard, impossible choices when it comes down to it, Emperor." Gwyn said confidently in his ability to lead his sons.
Revelation nodded; "Yes, Constantin says the same in his report. He is also surprised by how fluid you are on the battlefield. How you deal with siege warfare all the way to void combat excesses almost everything that Horus and Russ did during their time on Terra. It opens some exciting possibilities for the Second Legion now. I am curious what are those plans and thoughts?" Revelation asked, leaning forward.
"I believe you will have whatever Expeditionary Fleet comes with me away from Imperium supply lines for dealing with certain enemies and places that only my sons can. I want my Legion able to handle any situation when we have no support. Will some Stormhosts be better in some things than others? Yes, I expect that, but they will know every aspect of war so they can and will survive." Gwyn explained, hoping that he read the intention of the Emperor correctly.
The Emperor didn't say anything, simply tapping his finger on the redwood furniture he sat behind for a long moment staring at his son. Gwyn stared right back at the Emperor, seeing the normal mortal man who sat behind the large desk, not seeing a scholar, warlord, scientist, or anything else, just the regular man before Gwyn's eyes. The Emperor did enjoy how Gwyn didn't get intimidated by him, able to look right into his eyes or how he never seemed uncomfortable with him either. In Gwyn, he saw himself, younger wilder, of course, and holder to his ideals before he met Malcador, turning him into the Emperor of Mankind.
"You are my left hand that will deal with specific issues out there in the galaxy. I know your legion, and Silence Sisters created a pact together, making it more accessible for your duty I will bestow upon you. The 2nd Expeditionary Fleet is yours, and you will have Sisters of Silence, your Mechanicus allies, and a unique Titan Legion joining the fleet. They are experimental, to say at least, but if they succeed, I will give a Writ of Compulsion for more of their number." Emperor explained, sliding a parchment to Gwyn, which he took looking at the emblem.
The emblem of a grey roaring lion with red eyes stared right up to Gwyn, telling him all he needed to know that the Emperor trusted him with the first titans, which could form the Titanicus Terranic Ordo Sinister. He read the thick report seeing the Fleet will only get Five Warlord Titans built in the fearsome new Warlord-Sinister-Class Psi Titan. Gwyn notices how it wasn't much, but more enough for just five of these menacing machines of war.
"You seem to put a lot of trust in me for allowing me to use such assets, incredibly just how powerful and deadly their weapons are to anyone else. I am guessing that this is always the plan to make sure the 2nd Expeditionary Fleet has all the weapons which can handle certain pyskers, aliens, and horrors that only my sons and I can face?" Gwyn asked, placing the report down after reading everything.
"Yes, as I said, you are my left hand dealing with the horrors which I know you understand and what type of enemies we are facing for our survival. The fact you understood the horror without me explaining tells me you will do your duty even if you disagree with me. So I guess you can say it's my carrot for you." The Emperor explained, leaning onto the desk.
Now that caused Gwyn to blinked a few times, shock upon hearing the Master of Mankind give him some freedom and leverage to fight the enemy they all face. He did remember that the Psi-Titans needed a blank to pilot these titans. Gwyn quickly understood what the Emperor wanted from him, but he wouldn't bring up the Azyr held a vast amount of Blanks and Pariah across all eight worlds.
"I understand, but I am just shocked, that's all, especially since I thought Malcador told you about my little trip. You still decide to attach these Titanicus onto the Expeditionary fleet." Gwyn said, setting the report down.
The Emperor didn't say anything leaning back into his chair, staring at his son for a long time; "The Church of the Lightning Stone," he whispered, nodding his head remembering that moment. "Uriah Olathaire, the priest, chose martyrdom instead of a place by my side." He said, recalling the debate he held with the Priest.
Gwyn gave a nod of his head; "A very good man from my understanding lived as a Priest who tried to do good after surviving a war. Did everything he could to hope for those less fortunate and was always kind to everyone." Gwyn said, thinking back on such things.
"Yes, Malcador did tell me you decide to take the Lightning Stone for yourself. I am curious why?" he asked, wanting to understand his son's reasons.
Gwyn smiled; "Just like I told Malcador. A man who can turn away from you and keep his faith after you revealed yourself should be remembered, in my opinion. Besides, I believe Uriah Olathaire understood humanity far better than either you or I will ever understand. It is just like when we first spoke together and argued over belief. I shall tell you I like faith and idea far more than belief and religion. I can have confidence in an idea until it needs changing. However, that is because I understand my reasoning for such a need. I don't know who long I will live, but I don't understand anything. I can figure out the issues sooner or later. So that allows my faith in the idea to change into something new. However, an ordinary mortal doesn't have that time no matter how long they can extend their life. So they need belief and reassurance in something more than themselves." Gwyn explained, knowing the Emperor probably didn't understand.
However, to his surprise, the Emperor listen to Gwyn's reasoning to the very end yet still didn't understand if humanity has the Imperial Truth. "It matters not, but if you wish to have the Lightning Stone, then you shall have it. However, although we disagree, I know you understand the warp's dangers and those entities wishing to prey on humanity." The Emperor said slowly, standing up from behind the desk.
Gwyn gave a firm nod; "I do, Emperor. I already know I am on the shitlist with all four of them for my little trip into the immaterium. Don't worry, the others will not know, but I suggest you tell the other sooner or later. The longer you wait, the higher the chance something terrible will happen." Gwyn explained, trying one last time for the Emperor to tell the other Primarchs the truth about the warp and Chaos.
The firm shake of Revelation's head told Gwyn all he needed to know, but Gwyn knew sooner or later they will have a way for them to influence the materium. However, now that didn't matter, Gwyn slowly looks the Emperor right into the eye as he stared right back at him. The moment why both of them were in this tower was Gwyn's final test. The Emperor stood upcoming around the wooden desk, standing right before the window, using his abilities to cause the lights to disappear, allowing only the light of the moon to come beaming into the study.
"I, Gwyn, give my oath to the Emperor of Mankind and the Imperium. I will fight its enemies and face the horrors which plague humanity. Your enemies are my enemies. I will descend upon them like a storm and strike down like lightning. In War, Victory. In Peace, Vigilance. In Death, Sacrifice. My oath to you, Emperor of Mankind." Gwyn spoke, bowing his head staring at the floor.
The Emperor places a hand upon his son's shoulder, squeezing it, gently guiding Gwyn to look at him with a gentle smile. "You shall forever know as the Lord of the Storms Gwyn. You shall be the King of the Wild hunt my left hand against the agents of corruption and Chaos spread throughout the galaxy. You shall hunt down the Xenos the enslaved Mankind like the coming storm unleashing upon them lightning and bring thunder upon all." Emperor spoke, giving Gwyn his official title of Lord of Storms, for that is what he shall bring forth onto their enemies.
Gwyn bowed his head once more; "I shall do my duty, Emperor, and I give you my oath that if you shall ever turn your back upon the Imperium or my brothers. I shall end you myself and forever take the disgrace of kinslayer always." Gwyn said, staring right into the Emperor's eyes as he spoke of killing the Emperor if he fell to darkness or did something terrible to his brothers.
Master of Mankind finally saw why he knew Gwyn would disagree with him ever but do what is necessary. The Emperor saw Gwyn as a pragmatic and practical person. Still, he realizes that Gwyn sees himself as the essential evil just like the Emperor did so long ago when he created his first kingdom. The Emperor remembers so very long ago the Emperor wished to travel the world but couldn't for a tyrant to come into power. He led a successful rebellion but forced to take the crown, becoming what the Emperor hated in the first place. The Master of Mankind finally understood that he became a necessary evil in keeping balance for happy subjects to maintaining peace across his land.
Gwyn is that aspect of himself not wishing to rule or take the battlefield as a warrior or leader, just like Master of Mankind did so very long ago. He squeezed his son's shoulder once again; "I accept your oath Gwyn and will hold you to it. If I ever fall from my path or turn away from your brothers or the Imperium. Strike me down without hesitation." He said in complete confidence understanding his son far better now once the pieces finally clicked into place.
The Nameless King gave the nod; "I will. I am no oathbreaker Emperor either." Gwyn said, pulling away before nodding his head turning around. "Now, if you excuse me, I wish to return home and prepare. My wives are waiting for me, and I know my sons must be ready to rejoin the Great Crusade to provide their worth." Gwyn said, leaving the study.
"Of course, my son. I am," the Emperor stopped blinking a few moments; "Wait, what do you mean, wives?" suddenly asked before the door shut behind Gwyn, not hearing the question. The Emperor blinked a few moments, not understanding; "Wives," he whispered, having made sure such events would not happen.
Gwyn had gotten onto the stormbird, which returned to Weisshaupt ready to make its way back to its Primarch's home. Gwyn didn't waste much time heading to the bridge seeing all the activity happening all around him. However, no one seems to stop, which he appreciates, for he cared more about duty than anything else. Shipmistress Natasi Daala sat upon her command throne doing last-minute checks, also communicating with the newly named Ark Mechanicus ships on either side of Weisshaupt, Red Storm, commanded by Magos Nikola Telsa. The second Ark Mechanicus, dub by Leonardo da Miragliano as Silver Alchemist, prepares for their departure. They were surprising ahead of schedule, which pleased Gwyn quite a bit as he stepped forward, looking out the view of Terra one last time.
"Shipmistress Daala, take us home," Gwyn announced, causing the crew to increase their pace.
"Aye, Lord Gwyn. We shall make way to the warp point and begin our journey back to the Azyr system." Natasi responded without missing a beat from what she is doing.
Gwyn nods, watching Terra begin to move out of their view as Gwyn stares into the void before him. He couldn't wait to return home to see everyone again, especially that of his wives.
"I am coming home." He whispered to himself as the three massive ships started up their warp engines, the Gellar field's sheer activating around the three battleships. The swirling colors of grey appeared before the crew as the shields slowly lower for the rest of the staff not to be blinded by the swirling colors they saw.
The three ships did their warp jump disappearing into the sea of souls, with a Primarch ready to return home to reunite with his loved ones and sons.
Author Note: Well, for all those who got through Chapter 1, congrats. I am pretty honest about how surprising the story is doing. Anyways I am glad you are continuing to follow and read the story. I will continue to try to do a chapter every month, but again no promises. Thank you again for reading.
