"Tomoki, your crystal ball came!" Mrs. Kuroki shouts.
Tomoki opens the door to see his mother cradling a sizable package.
"My crystal what? I never ordered anything of the sort."
"Oh, you didn't. It must be Tomoko's, then. I think she's still sleeping, so I'll just leave this by her door," Mrs. Kuroki mentions, proceeding to finish her chores.
Tomoki stares at the fragile box from across the hall, "Why would a weirdo like her want a crystal ball. Ugh, I don't get her."
"Yessss, it came! I'm finally on my path to becoming a spiritual guru and getting back at all the people that have wronged me. New Otome game, here we come! Now that I think about it, maybe I should've just bought the game instead. No matter, this will earn me more bang for my buck in the long run."
After school, Tomoko heads out into the middle of the street and begins setting up her tent. After struggling to keep the poles steady from the constant stream of wind, she unleashes her secret weapon, a glass ball capable of drawing in some of the most intriguing glances.
Tomoki sits on his chair in his room, gazing up at the ceiling.
Tomoko pushes down her anxiety as a swarm of good-looking high school boys surrounds her.
"Can we get our fortunes read?"
"Um, s-sure" Tomoko stammers.
"Out of all the objects I've caught Tomoko with, this one takes the cake," Tomoki reasons.
"If you don't mind, can we get our fortunes done too?"
"The same with us. We're always looking for a good way to pass the time."
"Don't forget about me too."
As people huddle around Tomoko's stand, she starts to get antsy, incorrectly performing the seance.
"Just why would she ever need an item like that. It doesn't make any sense," Tomoki ponders.
People slowly become more peeved as they bear witness to disgusting and disturbing fortunes.
"What a rip-off."
"I know, right."
"Wait a minute," Tomoki pauses.
"Come one, come all. Experience a wondrous spectacle capable of changing your life now and foreve-"
"Oh, that's right, I saw you through my crystal orb. I can show you your soulmate for a measly price of six thousand yen."
"Crap, you gotta be kidding me," Tomoki realizes.
"I think I should show her a piece of my mind," One redhead charges.
Tomoko notices the angered crowd. She then makes a profound observation. The box that housed the crystal ball read: Halloween Edition, dark fortunes to upset friends and family.
"Hey, you. Yeah, you in the cap. What's the deal? You made my friend cry," The redhead claims.
"Um, I-I um, I uh," Tomoko stutters.
The fiery vixen continues her strut towards Tomoko. Her clicking heels sounded like thunder. Tomoko's face becomes submerged in a wave of pure stress and anxiety.
The woman swings her hand to the side, preparing to smack Tomoko's face...
Tomoki grabs the hand.
"Wha-"
"That's my girlfriend. If you have a problem with that, you better take it up with me," Tomoki declares.
Tomoki holds Tomoko close.
"Urgh, let's just get out of here."
"Agreed."
The gathering of students soon disperses.
Tomoko looks up to her brother's face, her lips inches away from his, "Tomoki, you saved me."
Tomoko closes her eyes.
Tomoki slams Tomoko up against a wall, "You are the stupidest, most annoying little bitch I've ever met. Do you know what trouble you could've caused for yourself? What you could've caused for me."
Everyone's eyes become trained on the pair.
Tomoko works out the scenario in her head, (Oh, no, people are gonna think we're a couple.)
Tomoki pushes his face closer to Tomoko, "Don't focus on them. Focus on me!"
Once Tomoko hears this line uttered from Tomoki's mouth, her cheeks inhibit a bright shade of red.
"You could've died," Tomoki roars.
"Ugh, I thought you wanted me to die," Tomoko says, struggling to break free from her brother's tight grip.
Tomoki stops as his eyes widen.
"Earlier, you said you wanted me to burn in hell. SO WHY DO YOU CARE NOW!"
Tomoko breaks free and catapults her body along the footpath.
"Wait, Tomoko," Tomoki yells, chasing after the freed mistress.
Tomoko runs as if her life depended on it, with tears inhabiting the corners of her eyes, "He just wants me to die like everyone else. I'm truly pathetic! Staying up late and playing Otome games, like a loser. I bet no one would care If I just..."
Tomoko looks over the bridge, staring into the shimmering water.
"If I just died."
Tomoko gets up on the railing.
Tomoki crashes into Tomoko, and they both land square on the ground.
"Of course, I wasn't serious. I care about you, Tomoko. I CARE ABOUT YOU MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET!"
Tomoki reaches out to Tomoko's hands.
"...Please, just don't ever die..."
