Age 11
After turning eleven over four months ago Stella got her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. With only a few weeks left until they have to board the train, Ginny and Stella went down to the kitchen to find an adult. Stella's parents along with Ginny's and their friends were all sitting around the kitchen table.
"Attention mother, father, and friends," Stella started while Ginny was giggling, "we require a responsible adult to get to Diagon Alley so we can get things for Hogwarts. After all your child and her friend are demanded to go to school in a few weeks and we need the supplies."
Ginny was now bursting with laughter and soon after Stella joined in. The adults were looking at them like they had gone crazy. Their plan to act professional and adult-like had worked well for two seconds before it failed.
"Well, that was... charming. Who wants to take these young adults to Diagon Alley," Lily asked while winking at her daughter.
"How about we all go," James suggested.
"No, no, no, no, no," Stella said, "I mean I said we only need A responsible adult. A. As in one."
"Okay but you also said responsible so Sirius is out of the question," Lily replied as she watched her daughter's face fall, "how about Remus."
"But... fine."
"Well, since that is settled-"
"Hey! I'm responsible."
"Padfoot, she said that like two minutes ago. Catch on faster next time," James said smirking. Sirius stuck his tongue out.
"Ginny let's go get measured for our robes first," Stella said while pulling Ginny behind her.
They went all around Diagon Alley for all the things they needed. Books, potion ingredients, quills, paper, prank supplies, all up until the last thing they needed was their wands.
They went into Ollivanders and waited until he came out.
"Ahh, Ms. Potter, Ms. Weasley. I've been waiting for you two ever since your brothers came in. Ms. Weasley shall we start with you."
At this point, Stella had zoned out and looked out the shop windows. Suddenly a familiar black dog came into her view and she walked out of the shop and pet him.
"Padfoot, what are you doing here. If Remus saw you he would be-, too late he's coming."
"Padfoot. Ugh, fine you can come in."
Padfoot started wagging his tail and trotted into the wand shop before Stella and Remus.
"Ms. Potter you're just in time come try this one."
Ollivander handed her a wand and Stella waved it. She caused papers to fly off his desk all over the room.
"Obviously not. Try this."
Stella grabbed onto the other wand and gave it a wave. The light above their heads broke.
"No, no definitely not. Perhaps this one."
As Stella grabbed onto the third was she felt a tingle go up to her arm to her whole body.
"Interesting, your wand is ten inches, from a willow tree and a dragon heartstring core."
"Thank you, sir," Stella said as she paid for her wand, "time to go home."
A few weeks later.
It was that time of year again, time for all the kids to say goodbye to their parents and get on the train to Hogwarts. Stella was sad about leaving Sirius... and her family. But she was excited for all the opportunities that awaited her at Hogwarts. She wouldn't be too alone as Remus was the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. She would finally be able to join Fred and George in pranking everyone and joining in on all the fun she has heard over the years from her brother.
The ride to King's Cross station couldn't be over soon enough. Stella hopped out of the car and ran off to find the Weasleys standing between platforms nine and ten. Having gone through the platforms before she casually leaned on the wall with the twins and disappeared. The sight of the Hogwarts Express didn't fail to excite her again. It was still as magical as the first time she saw it.
When all the Weasleys and Potters along with Sirius were on Platform 9 3/4 she got the talk she had been dreading.
"Don't get into too much trouble."
"No trouble at all."
"No boys."
"Keep your grades up."
"Write to us often."
"Keep out of the Forbidden Forest."
"No seeking out at night."
"Oh, to get into the kitchen you have to tickle the pear."
"Sirius! don't tell her our secrets!"
"Ok, ok, ok, ok. I get it you don't have to tell me. I've heard it once already when you told Harry. I won't be surprised if you guys show up randomly and check on me. But seriously cut me some slack," Stella said.
"Bye baby girl," Lily said as she hugged her one and only daughter.
"Uhg, mom. You'll see me on the holidays."
After Stella was done saying goodbye to her parents she got pulled to the side by Sirius.
"Cause some trouble for me will you?"
"Of course. You already know I have a million things planned."
"Also, if you see a black dog roaming around, go to him."
"A black dog? Wonder who that will be," Stella said sarcastically.
She got on the train and looked back to the small number of people seeing her and her brother off. As the train left the station she yelled out to her father.
"No promises on that no boys rule dad!"
The train ride was long and boring. The only compartment Stella and Ginny found had a girl in it. She looked considerably lonely to Stella so she asked if they could sit with her.
"Hello, I'm Stella Potter, and this is my friend Ginny Weasley. Who might you be?"
"I'm Luna Lovegood," she said in a dreamy voice.
"Ha, my middle name is Luna, Actually one of my parent's friends named me. Quite weird now that I think about it."
"Yes."
They went into a comfortable silence. Stella stared out the train windows wondering what house she would be in. Everybody she knew was sorted into Gryffindor besides Snape. Would her family accept her if she wasn't sorted into their house? As Stella thought about it more she began to feel worried. She stood up and told Luna and Ginny she was going for a walk. She went and found Harry and had a talk with him.
"What if I'm not in Gryffindor?"
"It will be fine. You're worried about not being accepted if your not. Right?"
"Yeah."
"You can ask the hat not to put you in a certain house. He takes your opinion into matter."
After the talk with Harry, she felt better. She changed into her robes and went back into the compartment. Seeing as they still had a few hours to get to Hogwarts she laid down and fell asleep.
"Stella. Stella. STELLA!"
"I'm up!"
They were at Hogwarts.
Hagrid gathered the first years and told them to get on the boats. It was an old Hogwarts tradition for the first years to see Hogwarts from a distance. On the ride across a kid named Colin kept taking pictures with a muggle camera, and another boy fell into the lake. He was put back into the boat by the giant squid. When they made it to the entrance hall an old-looking witch was standing there with a stern look on her face. Stella guessed it to be Professor McGonagall.
"In a few moments, you will enter these doors and be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Follow me."
They walked into the Great Hall. The stories Stella heard about it didn't do justice to the real thing. There were floating candles and the ceiling was bewitched to look like the sky. It had taken the breath away from Stella.
"Line up across here. Now when I call your name you will come up and sit down. I will place the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into your house," Professor McGonagall said.
"Luna Lovegood."
"RAVENCLAW!"
"Promise me no matter what house we're sorted in we will stay friends," Stella said to Ginny.
"I Promise."
"Ginny Weasely."
"GRYFFINDOR!"
"Stella Potter."
Stella walked up to the stool and she saw Snape and Lupin give her a nod of encouragement. She sat down and the hat was placed on her head.
Ahhh, another Potter. You have a great deal of bravery and lots of courage. You have the thirst to prove yourself and prove you're strong. You can be cunning at times and love to play pranks. But where to put you? You would do well in Ravenclaw seeing how smart you are. You would also do well in Hufflepuff seeing how kind you can get. Do you have anything to say?
Whatever you think is best. Stella thought.
I know what to do with you...
"SLYTHERIN!"
Saying the hall was shocked was an understatement. Their jaws were all dropped to the floor. Slowly one by one people started clapping. Stella was worried about what her parents were going to say. Snape looked smug. He was probably going to rant to her father about how she was put in his house. After the feast, the Slytherin prefect led the first years into the dungeons where the common room and dorms were held. Stella when straight up to her dorm. Seeing as she was the only girl first-year Slytherin she had the dorm to herself. She sat down at her desk and wrote a letter to her parents.
Dear mom, dad, and friends,
To say I'm surprised is the very least I can put it. I wanted to tell you before anyone else told you. I got sorted into Slytherin. I really hope you are not mad at me or disappointed. I told the hat to put me where he thinks I would succeed. As far as Ginny goes she got sorted into Gryffindor.
Hope you are not mad. It's kind of lonely and cold. I'm the only girl first year. The rest were boys. We have an uneven amount of girls and boys in Slytherin.
Love your favorite Slytherin,
S.L.P

Sorry if there are any spelling or grammar mistakes I'm writing this at 2:30 in the morning. Hope you liked this chapter. The next one will be the reaction of Stella's mom and dad. Also Padfoot. This is my longest chapter I have written.
