A week later
A week since their arrival to the world of benders, the crew of Retribution had all the time they needed to fix their ship and make themselves home on the South Pole. The plan was to stay on the planet and live with the people of the Water Tribe village until the ship would be fully repaired.
Jason and the others have used that time to get to know Korra, her friends, and everyone in the village. It began at first with a welcoming party everyone was more than happy to enjoy. After the party was over, the crew began its repairs, and Jason with his team began their study on the natives' culture and ways.
It was interesting for Jason and his team to learn about the Water Tribe's culture and bending even though Korra was mostly responsible for showing bending because she could control all four of them. She also introduced Jason and his team to Naga who was also very curious about their visitors. At first, she only sniffed them but when Jason gave her a piece of meat, Naga gave him a huge lick that wet his face and uniform.
But after Korra showed them most of her village, she wanted to know more about where Jason and his people came from and what it was like to travel in space. Of course, Jason was more than happy to tell her so he gave her and her friends a little tour around the Retribution.
While Jason gave Korra and her friends a tour, they were amazed by how advanced the UNSA ship was. The fact that it was capable of flying in space and traveling from world to world alone made Korra and her friends so amazed and curious, especially Asami who wanted to know everything about the ship's engines, how they worked, and a lot more. But unfortunately for Asami, Jason had to delay explaining how the engines worked because there was still a lot more to show.
After the tour was over, Korra wanted to take Jason for a little tour around her home village where she wanted to have a little personal time with him. Jason told her everything she wanted to know, where they came from, what the Earth was like, and a little about the Earth's history since Jason liked it so much during his high school days.
"So, what is it like to live on Earth?" Korra asked.
"Peaceful mostly. Some people want to enjoy the peace and live their lives while others want to have adventures," Jason said.
"And which one of those you were?" Korra asked.
"I was the adventure kind of guy. I spent most of the time on Earth which was why I wanted to go to space and see what it's like out there beyond our known world," Jason told Korra.
"Wow, is that the only reason you left?" Korra asked.
"Well, to be honest, I just wanted to see what it's like outside of our solar system. Maybe also to get away," Jason admitted.
"Get away from what?" Korra asked.
Jason knew that he had to tell her about the war with the Settlement Defence Front eventually but wasn't sure how she might take it.
"I don't know how to tell you this but there was a war back home several weeks ago," Jason told Korra.
"What war?" Korra asked.
Later
It took some time, but Jason could tell Korra about the war between the UNSA and SDF. It wasn't really a very pleasant thing to explain but Jason had told his other reason for leaving Earth and the home solar system.
Korra gasped at first and then shed a few tears when Jason told her about the war with the SDF, how cruel it was, and how many good people died, including most of the Retribution's original crew.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up those horrible memories," Korra apologized as she wiped off the tears.
"It's alright, Korra. You were gonna find out eventually," Jason said and pulled Korra into a hug.
She didn't resist or push him away but returned the hug instead because she really needed some comfort. After they broke the hug, they looked into each other's eyes.
"You gonna be okay?" Jason asked.
"Yeah, thanks," Korra thanked.
After that, they decided to continue their walk throughout the village. But when they reached the part of the village where the ring (stargate) was, they saw Jake along with Ethan, Asami, and a couple of engineers who were studying the ring. They were also checking something next to the ring with symbols (dial home device).
"Uh, what are you guys doing?" Korra asked causing Jake and the others to turn to her and Jason.
"Oh, hi Korra," Asami said.
"We're just checking out this ring," Jake said.
"I can see that but why?" Korra asked.
"The scanners detected energy flowing inside the ring. The further scans also revealed that it has systems and the ability to absorb energy," Ethan explained.
This took both Jason and Korra completely by surprise. They never in a million years expected that this ring was actually some sort of device.
"What?! Are you saying that this ring is some sort of device?" Jason asked.
"Yes, sir," Ethan said.
"But what is its purpose or function?" Jason asked.
"We don't know yet but we're hoping to find out by studying it a little," Jake said.
"What about that thing next to the ring?" Korra asked as she pointed at another device next to the ring.
"It also has circuits and a power source. So we're guessing that it is connected to the ring," Asami said as she checked the readings from Jake's tablet.
"How so?" Korra asked.
"Well, they seem to be made from the same material and the technology is similar," Jake said.
"But we don't know their purpose or function yet?" Jason asked.
"Yes, sir," Ethan confirmed.
They were about to do more scans on the ring until its lights suddenly started to turn on and the circle filled with symbols started rolling in the ring.
"What the hell?!" Jason yelled.
"What did you do?!" Korra asked.
"It wasn't us!" Asami said.
"Everyone, get back!" Jake said.
Everyone dropped their equipment and stepped away from the ring. They watched it rolling and lights turning on until suddenly some sort of tidal wave appeared in the middle of the ring and then formed some kind of portal.
"What just happened?" Asami asked.
"I don't know. What do you think, Ethan?" Jason asked.
"I'm not sure, sir," Ethan said.
They didn't get a chance to figure it out when something started coming through the ring. Ten figures walked through the ring and stopped in front of it when the portal shut down. Jason and the others took a good look at the figures, they all had some kind of armor and helmets that resembled a snakehead. Most of them also carried some sort of staff that they guessed were weapons.
But what caught their attention was the one with a golden armor who appeared to be a leader.
"Who the hell are these guys?" Jake asked.
"I have no idea," Jason said.
"Maybe we should try to talk to them," Asami suggested.
"But those things are armed to the teeth and we don't know what their intentions are," Jake protested.
"I kinda agree with Asami but we must be ready for any possible outcome. This is basically the first contact so we'll stick to the first-contact protocol," Jason said.
"And what was it again?" Korra asked.
"No use of deadly force unless the hostile intention is clear," Jason said.
"What weapons do you have?" Korra asked.
Jason and Jake pulled their pistols (Kendall 44s) from their holsters and showed them to Korra and Asami.
"We only have our pistols. We didn't think we'd need heavier weapons," Jason said.
"But we're definitely gonna need more firepower," Jake said.
"What about you, Ethan?" Asami asked.
"I'm not currently armed, ma'am. But I do have my fists," Ethan said.
"I know I said this already but we should try to talk to them," Asami said.
"I know but those armored guys could still be dangerous," Jason said.
"But we don't know that for sure until we try," Asami said defending her opinion.
"But we can't just walk out there and say hello," Jake said.
"Well, I'm ready to take a risk," Asami said.
Everyone looked at each other thinking about Asami's suggestion. There were great risks involved but they knew that the only way to find out was to talk to the aliens who came from the ring. The team was still thinking about what they should do until Asami had enough and decided to try to talk to the aliens.
"That's it," Asami said and ran towards aliens.
"Asami, no!" Korra said.
Asami ran towards the aliens who reacted by pointing their staff weapons at her but didn't fire because the one in the golden armor told them not to. When Asami was close enough, she spoke to them.
"Uh, hello," Asami said.
"Kree!" The leader said.
"Huh? What was that?" Asami asked.
"Tau'ri kree!" The leader said louder this time.
"I'm sorry but I don't understand you!" Asami said.
But she was suddenly grabbed by the warriors which made the hostile intent very clear.
"Asami!" Korra yelled.
This made the aliens fire their staff weapons at them but Korra blocked the blasts by creating a wall of ice in front of them but the blasts were breaking it. Luckily the blasts were heard and Mako along with Bolin and some water benders of the village arrived at the scene. But when Mako saw Asami being held by alien warriors, he lost it.
"Let her go!" Mako demanded and sent bursts of fire at the alien warriors without hitting Asami.
One of the warriors died from the blast and the others fired their staff weapons at Mako but Bolin dodged the blasts by creating a wall of earth in front of them.
"Alright, fire back but make sure you don't hit Asami," Jason said as he and Jake aimed their pistols.
"Understood," Jake said.
After that, they opened fire at the alien warriors. The warriors' armor withstood the bullet fire but one of them was killed when Jason and Jake concentrated their fire. The water benders attacked the warriors but were killed when the staff blasts hit them.
The leader realized that they couldn't stay and dialed the stargate while the warriors gave him the cover fire. Korra and the others tried to get close to save Asami but the staff fire was so intense that they couldn't get even take a step.
When the gate was open, the leader told his warriors to retreat. Asami tried to get free but it was useless. As the aliens were stepping through the gate, Mako went after them.
"No!" Mako shouted.
He ran towards the aliens but when he was about to reach them, the last of them got through and the gate shut down making Mako jump right through the gate and hitting on the snow.
Everyone who was still alive ran to the gate and tried to help Mako up but he pushed their hands away. Soon Reyes and the others arrived at the scene with reinforcements.
"Connor, O'Neill, what happened here?" Reyes asked.
Later
After Jason told Reyes and Salter what happened, they began thinking about what they should do. But one of the first things they did was to move the ring or stargate as they now called it from the village to the Retribution along with a dialing device. Of course, some of the villagers protested this because the ring was sacred to them but Korra and her father were able to convince them that removing the stargate to the ship was for the best.
Jake and Ethan continued studying the gate but weren't able to find anything new except that it seemed to be able to create an artificial wormhole that takes to other planets where was another stargate. And the device they found next to the gate seemed to be some sort of dialing device that was used to put seven symbols to the gate to establish a wormhole to the planet they wanted to go.
They also took the bodies of the dead alien warriors to the ship's infirmary for study. Dr. Fraiser was able to learn something about the aliens' physiology thanks to the advanced technology the human race now possessed but she and other doctors still needed to study further.
As for Mako and other benders, they weren't really happy. Korra and Bolin were very worried about Asami's well-being because they had no idea why the aliens took her or what they wanted from her. Mako on the other hand was very angry at the aliens. He couldn't understand why they took Asami who didn't do anything to them, the very idea of her being their hostage pissed him off.
Mako demanded that they go after the aliens and get Asami back but Reyes said they couldn't at the moment because they still didn't have all the details about how the gate works and where the aliens went. Mako wasn't happy about this but had no choice but to sit back and wait.
After Jake and Ethan gathered enough intel they could, they asked Reyes and other officers of the ship to join them in the briefing room along with Korra and her friends. When everyone was gathered in the briefing room, Reyes spoke up first.
"So, what have found out about this... Stargate?" Reyes asked.
"Well, as far as we know. It creates an artificial wormhole that takes to other planets where's another gate," Jake explained.
"But to do that, seven symbols of the planet are required to establish the wormhole to the planet you want to go," Ethan added.
"But how do we know what symbols each planet has?" Salter asked.
"Well, while we were moving the stargate to the ship, we discovered a secret chamber beneath it in the village," Jake said.
"And what did you find in that chamber?" Reyes asked.
"We found symbols on the chamber's walls but it was more like a map than text," Ethan said.
"A map of what exactly?" Jason asked.
"We're not sure yet but we think it might be the map of a vast network of stargates in the galaxy," Jake said.
"Wait. Are you saying that there's more than one stargate?" Korra asked.
"Yeah, a lot more," Jake confirmed.
Everyone in the room couldn't believe what they just heard. A whole network of stargates in the galaxy was something they never thought could exist, it was just so amazing, the officers of the ship began to think why no one has ever found a stargate on Earth if there was one hidden somewhere on the planet. If they would have found s stargate on Earth, they could have explored the galaxy at least a hundred years earlier.
But before anyone could process this new information, Mako spoke up and didn't sound very happy.
"I don't care how fascinated you are about that thing. I just want to know where those aliens took Asami so we can rescue her," Mako said.
"We can't because we're not entirely sure how to use the stargate," Jason said.
"Not to mention what might be waiting on the other side," Brooks said.
"Every second we waste here will put Asami in greater danger," Mako said.
"We understand how you feel but we can't let emotions cloud our judgment," Salter said.
"Please, Mako, be reasonable. I'm as worried about Asami as you are but we'll have to be careful on this," Korra said.
"I don't care what you think! I will go save Asami with or without you!" Mako yelled.
"Stand down, Mako! This is my ship and you'll follow our rules as long as you're in here!" Reyes shouted at Mako silencing him.
After Mako calmed down and sat down, Reyes spoke again.
"I know you're angry but we can't go because we don't even know where the aliens went," Reyes said.
"Actually, sir. We do know where they went," Jake said.
"What?! How do you know that?" Reyes asked,
Instead of answering Jake showed them a data chip and put it into the computer that showed them a holographic recording about the stargate when the aliens used it. JAke adjusted the recording a little so it showed them The DHD and the symbols the alien leader put.
"It took some time to analyze this but the recording shows the seven symbols of the planet they went to," Jake said.
"Are you sure?" Salter asked.
"Positive, ma'am," Jake confirmed.
Reyes looked at his men and then Korra and her friends, noticing that their hopes were getting up. The new intel didn't eliminate the danger or the risks involved in this but now that they knew where the aliens took Asami, he might as well send a team to attempt a rescue.
"Alright. Gear up," Reyes said.
Later
After Jason and the other put on their suits and got their weapons, they headed to the hall where the stargate was taken along with the dialing device. When Jason and his team walked there, Ethan began preparing to dial the gate.
"You sure you can do this?" Jason asked.
"Yes, sir. It's quite simple really," Ethan said.
While Jason and the team waited for Ethan to dial, Reyes and Salter walked to them with a device in hand.
"What's that, sir?" Jason asked.
"A code transmitter device. It transmits a code through the gate so we can identify the team and make sure that it is you coming through," Reyes said as he gave Jason the transmitter.
"Just out of curiosity. Why do we even need a code besides identifying us?" Korra asked.
"Show them," Reyes ordered the technician.
The technician pressed a button and a shield appeared in the middle of the stargate (the gate shield from Stargate Atlantis).
"Whoa! What's that?" Bolin asked.
"We call it a gate shield. It prevents anyone we don't want here from getting through the gate," Reyes explained.
"Let me guess. Without a right transmitter code, the shield won't be turned off and we'd be crushed," Jake said.
"Precisely, lieutenant," Salter confirmed.
Korra and her friends were a little frightened by the idea but understood that the shield was a necessary precaution. When Ethan began dialing, Reyes wanted to debrief the team one more time.
"Remember, your mission is to rescue Asami if you can. But you must also gather intel about these enemy aliens, their weapons, tactics, everything," Reyes said.
"We understand, sir," Jason said.
After the team saluted Reyes and Salter, they turned to Ethan who finished dialing the gate and established the wormhole. When that was done, the team slowly walked towards the stargate not sure if they should be excited or frightened.
When they were right in front of the gate, they stepped through. The wormhole took them across the galaxy with a huge speed that lasted only a few seconds until they reached the other side.
The team fell on the ground as soon as they reached the other side and the gate shut down behind them. The team was covered in some snow and ice and felt like they've just walked through the snowstorm. It also didn't help that it was cold on the planet they were on.
"Dammit, it's cold," Brooks said.
"I thought our suits were supposed to keep us warm," Jason said.
"Think how we feel. We're not wearing space suits," Korra said as she, Mako, and Bolin tried to warm themselves up.
"I think it's a side effect of traveling through the gate," Jake said.
"Fascinating, but we don't have time for that. We've got to find Asami," Mako said as he warmed himself and others up with his fire bending.
"But how do we get back when we find her?" Bolin asked.
"With that," Jake said as he pointed at the DHD behind him.
"Oh," Bolin said feeling awkward.
"OK, people. Let's move out," Jason said.
Meanwhile with Asami
Asami didn't know what these aliens wanted from her but she couldn't really find that out because two of the guards were dragging her through the hallway. This kept going until they reached a chamber with some sort of altar.
Asami stopped struggling when she saw a man and woman (Apophis and Amaunet) arriving in the chamber.
"Come," Apophis said.
"No! Let me go!" Asami yelled trying to get free.
The guards brought her before Apophis and Amaunet who seemed to be admiring Asami's struggle which furthered their attraction towards her. When Asami was in front of two Goa'uld rulers, she bit one of the guards but it was no use. This, of course, made Apophis and Amaunet laugh in pleasure.
"Hahaha. This one has spirit," Apophis said before hypnotizing Asami with his hand device.
"Indeed, my Pharaoh," Amaunet agreed.
When Asami was under hypnosis, the guards ripped off her clothes leaving her naked, and then put her on the altar. She tried to move but she couldn't, she saw what was happening but couldn't run away even she wanted to.
Then a woman in an elegant outfit walked into the chamber right next to Asami who was scared by what was happening. When the woman was next to Asami, she opened part of her clothing revealing a pouch in her belly. Asami didn't know what was going on until a female Goa'uld symbiote came out of the woman's pouch and took a look at Asami.
"Does she please you, my daughter?" Amaunet asked the symbiote.
The female symbiote let out a pleasant screech which meant that she was indeed pleased by the host her parents brought to her. The symbiote crawled to Asami and the guards turned her around so her back was up.
Asami was now horrified by what was happening to her. The female symbiote was moving on her back causing vibrations of fear on Asami until it suddenly stopped. Asami lay on the table helpless until she felt a sharp pain in her neck making her scream.
"Aaargh!" Asami screamed in agony as the female symbiote was entering her.
Apophis and Amaunet were pleased that their daughter finally had a host they have been searching for her for some time now. But not everyone felt pleased about this, Apophis's first prime named Teal'c although he didn't show it, he felt great anger towards his master and mistress and great sadness for Asami who just became a host to the Goa'uld princess.
Meanwhile with the team
After they left the stargate, the team wandered in the forest for a while until they reached what looked like a good spot for a camp.
"This looks like a perfect spot right up here," Brooks said pointing at the spot.
When they were at the spot and the marines started to unload the gear and supplies from the ATV, Jason gave Brooks his instructions.
"All right, sergeant. If we're not back in 20 hours-"
"We'll come to rescue you," Brooks said.
"Negative. If we don't come back, you'll back through the gate and tell the captain what happened," Jason said.
"Sigh. Yes, sir," Brooks saluted.
Jason saluted back before he, Jake, Korra, Mako, and Bolin left and headed further into the forest. While they were following the forest path, Jake couldn't help but ask a couple of questions regarding Korra and her friends.
"So, uh. How did you guys meet?" Jake asked.
"Oh, we met on the pro-bending match. And the next day when Mako and Bolin were one player short, I offered to take the place," Korra said.
"Wow. What about Asami? How did you meet her?" Jake asked.
"Well, Mako met her first. Which happened when she accidentally ran over him with a bike," Korra told Jake who couldn't help but smirked.
"Heh, talk about a total crash of love," Jake said making Mako blush like crazy.
But before Mako could say anything, Jason told them to stop and hide. They hid in the bushes and watched who or what was coming in their way. It only took a few seconds until they saw a group of men walking on the path.
"Who are those guys?" Korra asked.
"I don't know but they look like priests to me," Jake said.
"All the way in the middle of the forest?" Mako asked with suspicion.
"Maybe they're heading for the party," Bolin said.
The priests soon walked past them and luckily didn't notice them hiding in the bushes. While the priests were walking away to wherever they were heading to, Jason thought that they should follow them.
"I think we should follow them. They might lead us to the nearest settlement," Jason said.
"But we came here to search for Asami," Mako said.
"I know that but we also came here to gather intel. Besides, Asami might be where the priests are going to," Jason said.
After Jason explained his reasons, the team nodded and they went after the priests. They followed them through the forest and kept out of sight while tailing the priests. It didn't take long until they reached what looked like a city.
They had to stay in the shadows and avoid guards while moving in the city. Mako insisted that he should go to search for Asami but Jason said that it was too dangerous to go alone to wander in the city.
They sneaked around in the city until they reached what looked like a temple and went in. Inside the temple, they went to the room where people in elegant dresses had gathered for a celebration.
"What's this?" Bolin asked.
"I think they're celebrating," Jason said.
"Celebrating what exactly?" Korra asked not sure if she wanted to know.
"I'm not sure. It could a religious celebration or it could be some important day for them," Jason theorized.
"At least they have good-looking food," Bolin said as he stared at the food on the table.
"Sorry but this isn't a time for lunch," Jake said.
"But I'm hungry," Bolin complained.
Before his teammates could answer, one of the men in the room blew his horn making the people in the room bow.
"What's going on?" Korra asked.
"I don't know. Maybe they're waiting for more guests," Jason said.
They soon got their answer when the serpent guards walked into the room. But that wasn't all of it, three more guests arrived in the room dressed in elegant costumes.
"Who are those nicely dressed people?" Bolin asked.
"I think they might be rulers of this planet," Jake theorized.
But the team's attention was turned back to the rulers when they presented a young woman to them.
"Behold. Your princess, Cleo," Apophis said as he and Amaunet presented their daughter to their people.
The team couldn't believe their eyes. The princess in front of them was Asami, the friend they came to rescue.
"Asami?" Mako said being extremely shocked.
"But, how?" Korra asked.
"I don't know but something's wrong. She doesn't seem to be herself," Jason said feeling as shocked as the others.
Mako couldn't take it anymore and run out of hiding in front of Asami.
"Kneel before your princess," Apophis ordered.
"Asami, it's me, Mako," Mako said.
Asami answered simply by making her eyes glow which shocked Mako even more. But he didn't have time to process it when Apophis pushed him into the wall with his hand device. Jason and Jake aimed their weapons at Apophis and Amaunet but Asami went in the way preventing them from shooting.
"Asami, snap out of it!" Korra said as she readied her water bending.
But they were suddenly knocked out by the serpent guards who took the team away.
Later in prison
The team slowly woke up and noticed that they've been taken into some sort of prison. As they got up, Mako was the first who finally lost it.
"Oh... Asami," Mako said weakly.
"Easy now, hothead. We don't know how long we've been unconscious," Jake said.
"No. I saw her," Mako said.
"We know, We all did," Jason said.
They took a look around and saw that there was only one door that was heavily guarded and there were no other entrances.
"Well, if there is another way out. We haven't found it yet," Jason said.
"Please, we've got to find Asami," Mako pleaded.
"No. You saw her eyes, she's now one of them," Jason said.
"We can't just abandon her!" Mako said.
"Shut up, Mako! If we can't find a way out of here, we're toast," Jason said.
"But-"
"No buts. Our priority now is to find a way out here and get back to the stargate," Jason said.
He was about to go to search for a way out until suddenly one of the guards grabbed his arm.
"Ow! Ow!" Jason yelled.
"What is this?" The guard asked.
"It's a hacking device," Jason said.
The guard's helmet opened revealing a dark-skinned man with a golden forehead tattoo on his forehead. The man examined Jason's hacking device that seemed to interest him for some reason.
"This is not Goa'uld technology. Where are you from?" Teal'c asked.
"From the planet called Earth," Jason said.
As soon as he told him that, Teal'c's helmet closed and he let go of Jason's arm and left.
"What was that about?" Korra asked.
"I have no idea," Jason while holding his hand.
Later
Jason and the team tried to find a way out but had no success in that. Mako told them that they should try to rescue Asami but Jason kept reminding him that Asami was one of the aliens now and that they couldn't do anything for her right now. Mako didn't like it but didn't have much of the choice.
They kept searching for a way out until the doors opened and the serpent guards walked in. Apophis and Amaunet along with their daughter Cleo walked into the room and simply watched the prisoners. The team wasn't sure what the rulers of Chulak wanted or why they were observing them but it couldn't be good.
"Jason, please," Mako begged who couldn't stand watching Asami being one of the Goa'uld.
"Mako, we can't help her now and you know it," Jason said.
Mako couldn't stand it but he had no choice but to stand there and do nothing. Apophis and the royal family just stared at the prisoners for what felt like forever until he gave the order to his guards.
"Kill them," Apophis ordered before he and his family left.
The serpent guards formed the line in front of the prisoners and aimed their staff weapons at them ready to kill all of them. Teal'c was walking away from the prisoners until Jason spoke to him.
"I can save these people!" Jason said.
Teal'c answered by turning to Jason and activating his staff weapon.
"Help me! Jason begged.
Teal'c didn't say anything for a second until he finally answered.
"Many have said that," Teal'c said.
After that, Teal'c turned his weapon at the serpent guards and killed one of them.
"But you are the first I believe can do it," Teal'c said as he threw Jason his staff weapon.
The guards started firing at the prisoners and Jason fired back at the guards while Teal'c picked another staff weapon and also fired at the guards. When all the serpent guards were dead, Jason turned to the prisoners and told them to get out of the way.
"Get out of the way!" Jason yelled.
After the prisoners went down, Jason fired a couple of shots at the wall and made a hole in it. After he and his team made sure that it was clear, they told the prisoners to move out who gladly did so.
While the prisoners were fleeing, Teal'c looked at the serpent guards he and Jason had killed. For years he has served Apophis and committed a lot of terrible things but now that he helped Jason and his team to get the prisoners out, he didn't know what to do now.
Jason noticed Teal'c standing in the cell and talked to him.
"C'mon! We must go," Jason said.
"I have nowhere to go," Teal'c said.
"Don't worry. You can stay with us, let's go," Jason said.
Teal'c could sense the truth in Jason's words and joined him and the others.
"What's your name?" Jason asked.
"Teal'c," Teal'c said.
When Korra and the others saw their new companion who helped them escape from the prison, she and Mako asked Teal'c about Asami.
"What happened to Asami? The girl with black hair and green eyes," Korra asked describing Asami.
"She was chosen as a host for Princess Cleo," Teal'c told them.
"Princess Cleo?" Mako asked.
"The daughter of Apophis and Amaunet," Teal'c told them.
"I hate to interrupt but we've got to move. It won't be long until the guards notice that we have escaped," Jason said.
Everyone nodded and started running through the forest to the area where the stargate was located. They kept running until they suddenly heard a noise coming from the sky. Everyone looked up and saw what looked like a fighter (Death Glider).
"Take cover!" Jason yelled before the Death Glider opened fire at them.
He and Teal'c responded by firing their staff weapons at the enemy fighter but the blasts did not affect it.
"Jason, we're sitting ducks here!" Jake yelled.
Mako and Korra tried to take the ship down with their fire bending but it was too high up for them to hit it. The Death Glider kept firing and circling above them until a rocket hit it setting it on fire and making it fall to the ground until it exploded.
The people started cheering when the danger was over. Jason and the others turned to the hill and Saw Brooks holding a Spartan SA3 rocket launcher standing next to the marines.
"It's Brooks and the marines," Jason said with a smile while pointing at the marines on the hill.
Now that the sky was clear, everyone ran to Brooks and the marines on the hill.
"Nice shot, sergeant," Jason said.
"Thank you, sir," Brooks said.
"Is the gate secured?" Jason asked.
"Yes, sir. Just waiting for your word," Brooks said.
"Alright, let's go home," Jason said.
"But we can't just leave Asami here," Mako protested.
"I'm sorry, Mako. But there's nothing we can do for her right now. We'll have to come back later," Jason said.
"But we could still save Asami," Korra said.
"I'm sorry but we'll have to go back to Retribution," Jason said.
"He's right. Those aliens know that we're trying to leave and they're probably on their way here," Jake said.
Korra and her friends didn't want to leave Asami even though she was a Goa'uld now but knew that Jason and Jake had a point. They nodded and Jason told Jake to dial the gate. They were suddenly interrupted when they received a radio call from one of the marines.
"Sir, we've got movement in the forest. Hostiles closing in," the marine said.
"How many?" Jason asked.
"Looks like a whole battalion, sir. 200 yards and closing," the marine said.
"Understood. Hold them off as long as you can and then retreat to the gate," Jason ordered.
"Understood, sir," the marine said.
When Jake began dialing, the Jaffa warriors came out of the forest and started their attack. The marines on the hill opened fire on the Jaffa warriors buying as much time as they could.
While the firefight was raging on, Jake was able to open the stargate and send a signal to the Retribution.
"We're good to go!" Jake said.
"Understood, start sending people through!" Jason said before contacting the marines on the hill. "Retreat to the gate now."
"Understood. We're on our way," the marine said.
When the marines retreated from the hill and the Jaffa warriors appeared on the hill, Brooks detonated the C4 explosives they hid on the hill and killed a lot of Jaffa warriors. When they used their explosives, Jason and the team opened fire at the attacking Jaffa while Korra and her friends used their bending to hold them off.
Luckily they were able to get the refugees through the gate but they couldn't hold their positions for long.
"Let's go! We're getting out of here!" Jason said.
Everyone nodded and started running towards the gate while the Jaffa troops were chasing. When they got through the gate and made it to the Retribution, Reyes told the technician to activate the gate shield that prevented the Jaffa from getting through. When everyone was counted for, the gate shut down.
Some of the refugees were injured and received medical attention but most of them were alright. After the crisis was over, Reyes walked to the team with a lot of questions in mind.
"Lieutenant Connor. Care to explain?" Reyes asked.
"Um, we rescued these people and we can use the stargate to send them home," Jason said.
"What about Asami?" Reyes asked.
The team looked at each other in sadness before answering.
"We couldn't save her, sir," Jason said regretfully.
"But there is still hope. I know there is," Korra said.
"Besides, didn't you guys have a motto that 'we don't leave our people behind'?" Mako said.
"Who is this?" Reyes asked as he pointed at Teal'c.
"This is Teal'c. He helped us escape and save these people," Jason said.
Reyes wasn't sure about this but he trusted in Jason and his team's word.
"All right. But I want you to debrief me at 0730," Reyes said.
"Yes, sir," Jason and Jake saluted.
"All right, let's get these people situated," Salter said as she and the soldiers started escorting the refugees out of the gate room. When Reyes and Salter were walking out of the gate room and soldiers escorting people out of the gate room, the team turned to the stargate thinking about what happened.
"She's out there somewhere, guys," Mako said referring to Asami.
"I know," Jason said.
"So, what do we do?" Mako asked.
"We find them," Jason said.
"You promise?" Korra asked.
"I promise," Jason said.
Korra couldn't help but cry a little and pulled Jason into a hug he gladly returned. Even though Asami was a Goa'uld now, there was still hope to find her and bring her back. It seemed impossible now but they knew it in their hearts that they'll find Asami someday and bring her home.
