Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Burning Fire. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Avatar, Nick, Michael Dante DiMartino, and Bryan Konietzko do.

"You know if they knew I was here?" Kei questioned before looking around with interest. "Then he'd have thrown me out or something." Kei said and leaned against one of the pillars in the room.

"He wouldn't, he knows we're friends." Izumi said from her vanity desk. "Are you holding up at the moment?" Izumi questioned to which Kei hummed.

"I'm fine, Iz." Kei said and turned to look around. "Are you ok? You have that look in your eyes." Kei said while brushing off his clothes.

"I'm going to be the ruler of the Fire Nation soon." Izumi said to which Kei hummed. "And you've made good points, I'm not my father…" Izumi said to which Kei nodded.

"No, you aren't." Kei said and pushed off from the pillar. "But it's your legacy that you're have to focus on. People want strength and wisdom, but that can also bring arrogance." Kei said and started to pace back and forth.

"You sound like my Great Uncle." Izumi said with a chuckle as she looked at the mirror. "I miss him, he always had the answer to any issue." Izumi put in as Kei nodded

"I've heard it comes from my father." Kei put in and chuckled before slowly walking around the pole. "But my father has a point. We have things to think about. Your father will be stepping down soon. He's been talking to the Avatar. Republic City is going to be part of the stage." Kei stated as he cracked his fingers.

"Yes, but theres going to be issues." Izumi put in to which Kei hummed and looked around. "You haven't heard about back then. My father had people who wanted to kill him because he wouldn't uphold Ozai's policies." Izumi said and crossed her feet under her.

"I'm not going to let one of those idiots kill my best friend, Izumi." Kei said as he held up his hands. "I'll be with you every step of the way. Your father assigned me to help you in any way you believe is needed." Kei said and watched Izumi frown.

"And if that means dying?" Izumi asked to which Kei hummed.

"I don't want to die, princess." Kei said and leaned on another pillar. "But my duty is to protect you. You know even if it wasn't I'd fight for you. The New Ozai Society only formed because they wanted power again. They thought your father wouldn't protect them over everyone else." Kei stated and rubbed at his eyes with confusion.

"And what if they return in some form or another?" Izumi questioned to which Kei held up his hands at the moment. "They want a strong and powerful leader. I'm not my father, or my grand uncle." Izumi said while Kei hummed and looked at the princess.

"You don't need to be able to destroy armies to be strong, Izumi." Kei said while rubbing at his chin. "Your smart, your cunning. You put the people first." Kei said and got a hum from the princess.

She said nothing and simply looked around the room. There were far more factors then she could take. She did care about doing the right thing, but doing the right thing wasn't easy at the moment.

"Kei?" Izumi said while the guard looked up at her with interest. "Do you think theres a way I could speak with my great uncle?" Izumi questioned to which Kei blinked.

"That is a… Difficult question to answer, Iz." Kei said and looked through the skylight above. "There used to be a temple for the Solstice…. But it's gone, Avatar Roku reduced it to ash and dust. I don't know if there's a spiritual location within the Fire Nation like that." Kei said and turned to look around.

Izumi could only ponder what would become of her people. She needed advice, but she also knew her father wouldn't be of much help. He wanted her to be ready, there would be a point to carrying her through every hurdle.

"You know someone who we could speak about soon enough?" Kei asked and tapped at his lips with amusement. "We can speak the one person who holds the world together…. The avatar." Kei said which got Izumi to blink and look at him with interest.

"And why would avatar Aang speak to us at the moment?" Izumi said to which Kei hummed and turned to look to the side.

"I've heard from your father that Avatar Aang will be visiting the Fire Nation at least once." Kei said and pointed a finger at Izumi. "To help things before he leaves to prepare for your crowning, if you have a question? I'd ask him while he's finishing up his rounds." Kei said and leaned his head at the floor.

Izumi could only ponder if this was a good idea at the movement. Kei hummed and tapped his fingers on his arms.
