An hour after being taken into the police car, Shota Aizawa arrived in the police station, where he was taken to be questioned for everything, he did…
Inside the interrogation room, he found out that Nedzu was there as well…
"Good evening, Aizawa-san!" Said Nedzu in a cheerful tone. "Would you like some tea?"
"No thank you, Principal." Answered Eraserhead. "As much as I appreciate the gesture, I don't deserve it."
"Then, in that case, let us begin." Said Nedzu as Detective Tsukauchi entered the room, taking off the handcuffs in Eraserhead's hands to make him more comfortable. "How did everything start?"
"I found one of Izuku Midoriya's notebooks, so I got curious and started to read it…" Murmured Eraserhead as he couldn't stop the self-hatred flowing from his veins. "It was filled with various detailed descriptions of everyone's quirks, their strengths, weaknesses and how to exploit them, and countermeasures to avoid being hurt by others, but I failed to see it at the time."
"Then, what did you do next?" Asked Nedzu in a neutral tone. "And why wasn't I informed about it?"
"I freaked out…" Answered Eraserhead in a shameful tone. "I told Hizashi, Nemuri and most of the teachers, except for All Might and yourself, since you two had a friendship with him, though Recovery Girl didn't believe it, and some other teachers thought there was a lack of evidence like Hound Dog and Vlad King…"
"If lots of people didn't agree, then why no one said anything?" Asked Nedzu in a serious tone.
"I told them that if someone revealed something, they would be reported as traitors, to keep them silent…" Said Eraserhead as he started to cry once again. "Then, I waited until Izuku wasn't in class, to reveal my theory towards the students, and warned them to be careful."
Nedzu was shaking in rage as he asked his next question. "It seemed like you tried to destroy Izuku Midoriya as much as you could, to demoralize him so he would break and confess his status as the "traitor", am I right?"
A single nod from Eraserhead told him everything he needed to know.
"You know, this is why I don't believe in the Ally of Justice ideology…" Murmured Nedzu as he took some tea to calm himself down. "What was Kiritsugu Emiya thinking about when he influenced his son to follow in his footsteps?"
There were different variations of that ideology, the three most important ones being the following:
— Sacrificing the few, to save the many (the one followed by Kiritsugu Emiya, Eraserhead and many others).
— Sacrificing the self to save as much people as they could (the one followed by Kiritsugu's son, Shirou Emiya, as well as All Might, Izuku Midoriya and many others).
— Sacrificing everything else, just to save the things they cared about, or even a single person, being this one the rarest, as he never knew someone who followed it (though there was a chance that Stain belonged here, but after being betrayed he took his ideals to extreme levels to make up for it).
But all of them had something in common, for to someone to become an Ally of Justice, they needed to be broken and rebuilt by an extreme traumatic experience, or systematically destroyed for years until they became someone completely different.
In a nutshell, he cracked the formula a few years ago:
— First, they needed to experience trauma, abuse or being destroyed and crushed by society or a natural disaster.
— Second, they needed to be filled with heroic ideals, inspired by others who did the same, as that became either they sole reason for living, or the most important one (this worked for people who suffered Survivor's Guilt, such as Shirou Emiya's experience in the Fuyuki Fire).
— Third, they needed to close their hearts as much as they could, to not make connections or have a support network, as they either alienated them with their actions, or they didn't want to see their loved ones break themselves away for justice.
Though less dangerous than, for example, Destro's ideals, it ended up destroying so many lives, and letting so many people die alone and broken, as the same world they spent their lives protecting turned their back on them so many times...
"You thought that if you were right, and Izuku ended up being the traitor, you would have saved an entire school, just by sacrificing a single person in the process, but you never saw another possibility, right?" Asked Nedzu as he handed Eraserhead a psychological test. "Please solve this in the most honest way you can, I want to check something before we deliver your sentence."
After nodding, Eraserhead started to fill the test, which had questions about various topics like self-esteem, trauma, vulnerability, empathy, social skills, trust and mistrust, and so on… Fifteen minutes later he finished it, handing it back to the mammal, who quickly calculated the results.
"Aizawa-kun…" Murmured Nedzu in a sad, but serious tone. "Apparently, you have Paranoid Personality Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress-Disorder and Survivor's Guilt, all born ever since Oboro Shirakumo died, am I right?"
"Yes…" Murmured Eraserhead as he finally started crying. "I didn't want anyone else to suffer like he did, and I almost destroyed a life in the process…"
"In that case, I think it's time to deliver your punishment." Said Nedzu as he took some documents from his folder. "Naomasa-kun, did Aizawa-kun lied at least once during this interrogation?"
"No, he didn't, and it seems that his regret is genuine." Answered Detective Tsukauchi.
"Shota Aizawa, for the crimes of false accusation without evidence, torture of a minor both during an interrogation and for three weeks by gaslighting and turning others against him, and an involuntary homicide attempt, you shall lose both your teaching and Pro-Hero licenses for the rest of your life, and you will receive psychological and psychiatric treatment in a mental facility for at least ten years, which after those you will be able to start anew…"
"Why am I not getting jailed?" Asked Eraserhead in a broken tone. "I almost killed my Problem Child! I was supposed to protect him, but I betrayed him and turned almost everyone else against him!"
"Make no mistake… Had he died, you would be rotting in Tartarus for the rest of your life." Answered Nedzu with a growl, showing a bit of his canine fangs. "But as he is apparently stable, and he would blame himself if you lost your life by either jail or Tartarus, you will be given one more chance, so please, use it as much as you can."
In that moment, All Might decided to speak. "You know that Izuku-shonen said you were his favorite teacher, right?"
"I was?" Asked Eraserhead in a broken tone.
"Yes, he said you were different from his middle school ones…" Murmured All Might in sad tone. "I hope you value this chance, the friends you still have like Hizashi and Nemuri, and stop taking them for granted, because we don't know when someone will leave our lives for good…"
"Though I'm also to blame for your actions, Aizawa-kun…" Added Nedzu in a defeated tone. "I never noticed your psychological symptoms, I never stopped you when you threatened to expel students, neither did I make more research about all of this before it was too late… So, for that, I must apologize to you, and tell you that I will be punished as well."
In the end, Nedzu said that he would grant the title of Yuuei's director to a very capable man, David Shield, both as a way to help him redeem himself after the incident, and because he deserved to start anew somewhere else, without the baggage of I-Island behind him, but he would still work as Class 1-A's homeroom teacher until they could find a suitable replacement.
"Even Recovery Girl is willing to retire after not doing more to stop this, saying that her daughter has an extremely good medical team that will take care of Yuuei's health the same, if not better." Added All Might. "So, Aizawa-san, do you have any statement before we ship you to the hospital?"
Surprisingly, Aizawa took his Wallet to take both of his licenses, before handing them willingly to All Might, to then ask a simple question.
"When Izuku awakes… Can I apologize to him?"
"Only when he's truly ready, and his mother must approve it as well…" Murmured All Might in a neutral tone. "And if it happens, make sure to be honest, and do so towards the rest of the class and teachers as well, we'll grant you a day out if that's the case."
"Do you have another question?" Added Detective Tsukauchi.
"What will happen to Hizashi, Nemuri and the rest of the teachers who ended up believing me?" Asked Eraserhead. "If it's possible, I want to take all of their punishments, since I'm the main culprit."
"They will go to a teaching course for a year to renew their licenses, otherwise they will lose them, and they will have to apologize too…" Answered Nedzu. "They could've convinced you to stop but they didn't, so they must face consequences as well. If you have nothing more to say, then please go to the car."
As Eraserhead started to walk towards the police vehicle, he wondered what would've happened had he decided to research why his Problem Child acted like he did, instead of assuming the worst of him…
Sadly, he would never know, and he hoped that All Might, Nedzu and Naomasa could make justice towards him.
Kouji was crying after getting the two letters, one from Fumikage and the other from Mezo, which expressed their feelings about everything.
His classmates were crying beside him, saying that they truly regretted everything they did, their actions towards him like the silent treatment and heavy glares, as well as not doing anything to stop the gossip or bullying both he and the rest of his friends got from the class…
"We heavily sinned against you, Izuku and other innocents, so like we said in those letters, we give you our most sincere apologies…" Murmured Fumikage as he bowed before Kouji as a sign of reject.
"We only want to heal your heart and give you closure, if you do not want to forgive us that is fine, as it would be what we deserve…" Added Mezo as he bowed as well.
Kouji didn't know what to say, so he blurted out the first thing that came to his mind.
"Please, get up!"
When he saw both of his former friends stand up, he took a breath before speaking.
"These letters… They mean a lot to me, I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart, and I think you both deserve at least one more chance, don't you think?"
As he saw both Fumikage and Mezo tense up a bit, he continued this dialogue.
"But, for doing so, we need to rebuild everything from the ground up, and I'm willing to put my part, as long as you two do the same, and please, when you're both ready, apologize to Izuku and the rest of our friends, since they received damage as well."
"Thank you, Kouji…" Said Fumikage as he bowed once more, but this time standing instead of using his knees to do so. "I swear to Kami's name that we will make everything right…"
"I know this karma will follow me for the rest of my life…" Murmured Mezo, wondering why Kouji was so kind, forgiving him despite confessing his status as a spy. "But I will try to make up for it as long as I live, that I can promise to you."
"To be honest guys…" Said Kouji, before opening up to his newfound friends once more. "Had less people defended Izuku before I did, I probably wouldn't have done so out of fear…"
"But you did, and that's what matters, Kouji-kun." Added Dark Shadow as he appeared from Fuimikage's body, deciding to give his support as well. "Let's finish this with a group hug, to celebrate these healed bonds!"
In that moment, another small piece of Class 1-A's peace was fully restored as well.
Just as Eraserhead was going to his new home, and the reconciliation between Kouji, Fumikage and Mezo finished, Ochaco finished to tell her story to Tenya, who couldn't stop opening and closing his mouth thanks to the shock…
"I know it's a lot of take in, and my future self haven't told me everything yet…" Said Ochaco as she lowered her head in shame. "If you hate me, I wouldn't blame you…"
"Ochaco-chan… Why would I hate you?" Asked Tenya as he recovered his senses.
"For what my future counterpart ended up doing…" Answered Ochaco.
"Not at all, because, regardless of her actions or not, you ended up believing in Izuku here, and that's the most important thing." Said Tenya to give his support towards one of his best friends. "Besides, if Future Ochaco did all of this, it seems that she truly wanted to give Izuku and all of us a new chance, and so far, I think both of you have done a very good job."
Ochaco ended up crying after one of her fears banished away… She finally had someone she could talk to about this, she wasn't alone anymore…
"Also… If Future Tenya ended up saying all of that, it's probably because of a different turn of events, but I apologize for what he did." Added the young hero as he took a napkin to dry Ochaco's tears.
"I don't know what else could've happened, for her to be so broken and shattered…" Murmured Ochaco as she let go of her sadness and fears. "So far, I think I prevented both Tokoyami and Shouji of making a mistake, but how about the others?"
Tenya realized she was right… He hadn't heard anything about Kyoka and Kouji in the entire day, but they would probably talk later, which will give them enough time to reveal the truth, and who knows? Maybe Kyoka ended up talking with Momo, as he heard she was the one who carried her to the infirmary…
"How about we make our next plan before night arrives, Ochaco? For we still have some daylight." Asked Tenya in a kind tone. "If you want to, I will talk to Asui, and you could talk to Todoroki, since they both truly seem to regret it, and apparently in the other timeline they were kind enough to not annoy Izuku like the others did…"
"You're right Tenya, maybe after sleeping Future Ochaco will show me more of the future…" Answered Ochaco in a small laugh. "So, we try to talk to them in a few minutes, and we tell everything to Kouji and Kyoka tomorrow, how about it?"
"It's perfect!" Said Tenya while chopping his hands in his classic motion. "Meanwhile, how about we eat something? Miss Midoriya left some sushi rolls and orange juice, so we'll need the energy to fulfill our task!"
Something she really liked about Tenya was his kind spirit and big brother like attitude, and how he could give hope no matter how bleak the situation was.
"Yeah, let's eat my friend, I'm starving." Said Ochaco as Tenya went to the kitchen to warm up the food, leaving her thinking…
Would she succeed?
Would she make up for Future Ochaco's mistakes?
For now, she would try to relax, as her job was nowhere being done.
If she was going to be Izuku's Ally of Justice, she needed to take care of herself as well… And not to fall in the mistakes other Allies of Justice ended up being consumed by…
Her grandmother told her many stories her own grandmother told her, about how her great-grandmother was something similar to a hero, and fought to help others in her own way, being classified as one of the original vigilantes, and despite being in her mid-forties/early fifties at the time, she was quite strong to hold her ground…
She even crossed paths with Shirou Emiya a few times, and thought that he was a "Hopeless Fool" because of his ideals, but recognized that were quite similar, as they both had unique "quirks" that didn't fit the norm, plus other things she would never hear…
To honor her, her great-great-grandmother Mana took her mother's last name, instead of her fathers, which was Kokutou… Only her mother broke the tradition, since she wanted to give her family a new name to start once more.
Otherwise… Ochaco Uraraka would've been known as Ochaco Ryougi, just like her heroic ancestor, Shiki Ryougi.
"The food has been served!" Said Tenya as he broke Ochaco from her line of thoughts.
Like she said before, a warm meal always gives happiness to someone's heart, and she was no exception.
Hello, the author here!
Kinda drove the story into a pseudo-crossover, but this only applies to this timeline (the Garden of Spirals fic belongs to another continuity).
Once again thanks for all the comments and support, they really meant a lot owo
Credits to AkinaSukino for one of Nedzu's choices in the story!
Please take care and have a good day! :D
