Broken

Episode Four: Food, Glorious Food

By: The Rainbow Writers

It wasn't that Kara missed the next alarm, she hadn't even tried to set the alarm on her broken phone, and so it was a knock on the door that actually awoke both of them. The apartment was gradually lightening and so, even though Kara confirmed it with a glance at the wall clock as she eased very carefully away from Lena in the bed and pushed out of it, 6 am had come quickly. Padding through her place to the door, Kara eased it open to find Alex leaned on the wall beside the door waiting for her to open it.

"You look rough." The older Danvers' girl smiled. "I'm here to check on my patient before I go to work."

"I look rough..." Kara blinked sleepy eyes at her sister. "Have you even slept?" She squinted for a minute trying to figure out how her sister could look completely exhausted but at the same time somehow energized, the smile on Alex's face bright and well a little out of character for the usually stoic brunette.

"Not exactly, that is not much but that doesn't mean today didn't get here." Alex replied with a soft shrug. "How was your night and are you going to let me in?"

"My night... she hates being woke up every hour..." Kara finally stepped back and let Alex stride into the open area that led to her kitchen. "And... I don't know if she'll remember yet but she figured out I'm Supergirl and I didn't tell her she was crazy." She dropped the bomb softly knowing it was going to cause an explosion with her sister.

"I don't imagine it was hard if you woke her up every time looking like that." Alex pointed to her sister briefly as she moved to get herself a bottle of water. Her reaction muted compared to what Kara had been expecting. "Where are your glasses? And a hair tie? Did you just 'forget'?"

"Kinda." Kara shrugged with the soft honest admission. "She was in a lot of pain, between her head and her arm, she couldn't get comfortable. I've been a pillow all night." She summed up with the ghost of a smile finally crossing her face that said more to Alex then her sister probably could ever manage to push out because Alex knew it involved being honest about her emotions and that was something Kara wasn't great with at times.

"Kara." Alex's voice was tender as she said her sister's name, a sympathetic but almost disappointed look in her eyes. "Couldn't help yourself huh?" She offered as she twisted the bottle top off but then looked at the younger woman for a moment. "Wait, you actually slept?" She frowned slightly now. "Like for more then an hour or two?"

"Yeah, weird huh?" Kara shrugged again and then reached her hands up to stretch both of them out and her back considering she'd spent most of the night in the same position. She knew if it wasn't for her 'powers' she'd probably be a knot of pain but she also knew even if she'd been faced with that prospect she'd have played 'pillow' as long as Lena wanted her too.

"Maybe not that weird." Alex gave a light shrug.

"Kara, Agent Danvers..." The moment between the two sisters was broken by Lena's voice as the brunette stepped all but silently into a closer proximity to them from the bedroom. The brunette looked tiny in one of Kara's baggy sleep shirts, it hung down over her body to about her mid thigh with a comical black sheep jumping off a cloud. A spattering of sparkly 'Z's coming out of its head. Dark circles marred the usually perfectly pale skin of her face and seemed to hollow out her eyes a little. The cut on her head was angry, the skin around it raised into a bump and red ringed. The sling she wore for her injured arm was awkwardly bunched up and caught in the shirt sleeve and the strapping was out of position so that it pulled up one side of the shirt a little higher on her leg. "Good morning."

"Lena, you're supposed to stay in bed." Kara fretted immediately. "Let me put coffee on for you, I know you can't even think about being alive without coffee." She moved towards the kitchen instantly fussing to find a coffee pod and stick it into the machine.

Alex reached over and pulled the plug of the machine out of its socket and shook her head.

"Sorry, no stimulants for my patient." She shook her head at Kara walked over to the approaching woman and held out the so far untouched water bottle. "If my sister had anything like fresh juice in her fridge I could have offered that but..." She explained and after Lena had taken the bottle from her, Alex immediately moved her focus onto the head wound the CEO had, using light finger tip touches to trace around and feel out the size and tension in the swelling.

"I'll go down to the cafe on the corner, get healthy things, I won't be a minute." Kara blurted out the words and was then instantly pulling on a cardigan that had been draped over a chair, stuffing her feet into some slip on sneakers and grabbing her wallet from the side.

"Glasses Kara." Alex interrupted the fever of activity with a roll of her eyes.

"Right, yes, sorry." Kara seemed to apologize like a child that had just been corrected to stand up straight and she raced into the bedroom to get them, picking up her phone just in case before she literally streaked past both of them and out the door.

"She's... how rough was your night?" Alex frowned as the door lurched in the door frame a little from Kara closing it too hard and she brought her attention back to Lena's head.

"Interrupted." Lena offered the one word summary. "I understand it was doctor's orders, but I didn't realize just how frustrating it would become after a while." She was honest as Alex guided her gently to sit down on a chair near the table.

"Well I can assure you that no matter how interrupted it felt, Kara was probably far more relaxed about the protocol then I would have been." Alex informed her as she moved briefly to bring out a box from under Kara's kitchen sink, and placing it on the island she moved to wet a gauze with something Lena couldn't see from her angle before coming back to apply it to the wound. "Just going to remove some of the glue I put on it last night, it'll help the skin reaction you're having to the wound adhesive." She informed the brunette as she worked.

There was an almost uncomfortable silence that settled as Alex continued to focus, but it was clear that Lena wasn't happy with.

"How hard has it been for you?" She asked the question trying to keep her body relaxed even if she was in pain. "All this time, as her sister?"

"So you do remember, Kara was afraid you'd have forgotten." Alex gave a soft snort of a laugh and then sobered looking seriously into the green eyes in front of her. "At times hard, at times so easy." She was honest as she gave Lena a soft smile. "Probably the hardest part is wanting to protect her. Which to explain, if you've gotten a stiff vibe off of me it's to do with that, because I won't let anyone hurt her." She drew the line in the sand as Alex always did when it came to Kara.

"That's a tall task you're asking of yourself." Lena pointed out. "Almost as many people hate her as they do me." She offered and then smiled herself. "Well no..." She eased her head slightly in a shake. "That's not even remotely true but still, being the protector of National City's protector, sounds a little challenging."

"It is, especially when Kara won't do what you want her to do because..." Alex stopped and changed what she was going to say. "When you want her to hide or retreat, she doesn't. She just heads in straight on, with everything that she is, and that belief she has that it will all work out, no matter how bleak it looks." A soft smile pulled at her features again. "So you know, I wasn't really pro her telling you but..." She stopped what she was doing to catch eyes with Lena again. "Now that you know, Kara might be Supergirl but in so many more ways she's just Kara."

"Yes." Lena immediately offered Alex the point of understanding. "And I promise you I won't reveal what I know to anyone. Not that I'm sure your reluctance for me to know was based on that, or on the fact I'm a Luthor but..." She gave a one shouldered shrug. "I can offer you my word anyway."

"Good, because she is my sister Lena, and if you purposefully hurt her..." Alex's mouth locked down into a hard scowl. "You might be powerful and rich and all the things you are, you might even think being a Luthor will protect you but I will bury you somewhere no one will ever find you. Are we clear on that point at least? I don't screw around when it comes to Kara."

"We're clear." Lena nodded once. "She's lucky to have you, to have a family who truly cares for her."

"Well then I hope you're ready to know what that's like because if you haven't notice, my sister cares for you... a lot." Alex couldn't help but slightly stress the last word. "I mean I don't know how much you remember but last night she pretty much outed herself in your bathroom anyway walking into the hallway and then coming back as Supergirl and then walking out and coming back as Kara in the span of a minute." She gave a soft laugh. "Seeing you hurt, it hurt her."

"I don't really recall much of..." Lena was interrupted by the door flying open and Kara pushing into the space in almost dramatic style, carrying a freshly pressed cup of juice in one hand and a small brown bag in the other. "Sorry there was a line up." She offered moving straight to where the two other women were.

"That's okay Kara." Alex looked at her sister with a nod. "I think I'm done with my assessment." She stepped a little to the side of the other brunette and put her hand lightly on her good shoulder. "You'll live, but I'm afraid you're in for a quiet weekend. Nothing strenuous..."

"She already knows that, I'm going to get her food to sample from the Food Truck Festival for lunch. She's not moving further then the couch." Kara offered up in a quick voice as she moved to get a plate and put the fresh pastries she'd bought onto it. "Do you want this in a glass? I know you hate plastic." She asked of Lena holding up the juice.

Lena barely got a 'yes' out before Kara had already tipped the drink out into an appropriate glass, obviously not having been really looking for an answer. Beside her Alex just shook her head a little and then moved to pack away the box she had taken from Kara's cupboard.

"I want you to medicate the pain your in, but try to go lightly, at least for today." She went on giving Lena instructions. "Rest when you can, and no close contact work, like computer use or phone, your head doesn't need the strain." She closed the cupboard back up. "And if your arm doesn't respond to medication, I want you at the hospital for a scan, I don't know if you worsened the damage." She cast a quick look at her sister. "Call me if something comes up, I can make myself available."

"You know I'll call." Kara was already moving the drink and food over by the couch, then fussing with blankets and pillows to make a spot for Lena. "Call if... you know, you need me, but only if it's big please."

"I'm sure National city can cope for a few hours without you." Alex smiled at her sister and then took long confident strides to the door. "Keep in mind what I said Lena..." She looked towards the other brunette. "And remember to let her rest Kara, put on a movie or something." She took hold of the still open door. "I will call later to check in."

"Aye aye Captain." Kara gave a soft salute to her sister and watched as the auburn haired agent swaggered out, and she blew a soft breath up into her hairline. "Sorry if she was super intense, she apparently didn't sleep last night, I'll get the story later. Come sit on the couch, it's more comfy then that stool." She fussed worrying again about Lena.

"Your sister certainly has her way of approaching things, I appreciate that about her." Lena did ease from her place and move carefully to the couch. "She's so very different to you though." She added the comparison as she lowered herself into the comfort of the couch.

"No one has ever accused Alex of being Little Miss Sunshine." Kara gave a soft laugh as she used her knee to push the coffee table closer so it was easier for Lena to get her breakfast.

"I bet not." Lena nodded her agreement. "And Kara, thank you for this, you didn't have to, you don't have to, I can get a car to take me to my place, you can have a free day to focus on all those things I know you have to now."

The veiled reference to the 'truth' made Kara gulp down a little air as she moved around to sit on the other end of the short couch.

"Is that what you want? To be back at your place, or heaven forbid forcing yourself to go into the office?" Kara questioned with a soft tone. "Because there is nothing else that I want to focus on today Lena, and if you did go, I'd just spend all my time worried about you. Going by your office to hope I wouldn't find you at your desk. Hoping even more you were taking care of yourself the way I would take care of you."

"I don't like being reliant on others..." Lena shook her head.

"But that's the point, you're not." Kara blinked at her before she could continue. "We both know you can have a car here in a few minutes, order whatever food you want, have a top neurologist and an orthopedic wonder doctor doing house calls with a snap of your fingers." She frowned just slightly. "You wouldn't be here, resting on the couch, letting me get you snacks and watching bad movies because this is the only place you could be Lena. I guess... I'm just hoping that with all the choices you do have, you might choose letting me pamper you for awhile."

Lena breathed out a soft almost happy sigh as she looked between her carefully plated breakfast, the fresh juice and then at Kara.

"Take your glasses off, I like being able to see your eyes."

Kara knew the feeling of heat as a soft blush came to her cheeks, and slowly she reached up and slipped the glasses off before carefully placing them on the table.

"For the record they actually have lead in them, my adopted father made them for me years ago when I had trouble not seeing peoples skeletons at random inopportune times." She gave a soft self deprecating laugh.

Instantly Lena's look of contentment shifted to a frown.

"No, Kara if you need them. I wasn't..."

"I don't anymore, it's just... part of the disguise." Kara gave a soft smile.

"A pair of glasses and a hair tie?" Lena's features relaxed again. "I suppose it's a little better than just a pair of glasses." She made the obvious reference to Superman.

"Hey, it works." Kara argued back lightly. "I mean... even you didn't figure it out because of the glasses right?" She asked the hinting question almost trying to judge if Lena had had any ideas before the moment the night before.

"I don't think it was the glasses Kara." Lena squashed the idea quickly. "I wasn't looking for a disguise, I wasn't looking for something else when I looked at you Kara, when I spent time with you. I was more than content with all I had, the first real friend I've ever had." She was honest.

"That you still have." Kara underlined wanting to make sure Lena knew this above all else was true. "Just think of Supergirl as a gift with purchase kind of thing. Only there when she absolutely needs to be."

"I don't want to think of you like that, you are Kara Da..." Lena stopped and looked into blue eyes. "But you're not are you, what is your name?"

"My birth name is Kara Zor-El." She let it slip softly off her tongue.

"Kara Zor-El." Lena repeated in a whisper. "It's beautiful."

"Thank you." Kara felt her cheeks heat with a blush again. "Would you believe that my parents sent me here to look after Superman?" She knew in a way she owed Lena some beginnings of an explanation. "He was a baby, I was thirteen, I was supposed to be his protector but my spaceship got knocked off course by the shock wave when the planet exploded and I got lost in a place called the Phantom zone."

"If Superman didn't hate me I would love to be able to tease him about the fact that his own planet knew enough to know he needed looking after by a woman." Lena offered with a smile.

"We'll work on him." Kara smiled back. "You're not your brother, he'll understand that in time."

"Maybe." Lena sounded more than doubtful. "But right now all I'm worried about is making sure I can be a true friend to you."

"Me too, so drink your juice, you need some natural sugar." Kara urged her softly and then went red again as her stomach made the loudest grumble it could. "And I need to put something in my empty pit, I've usually ate three meals by this time of day." She admitted with a laugh.

"Then go, find yourself a cow or something to eat." Lena teased.

"I don't eat a whole cow, all at once." Kara had to laugh at the jib. "Though..." She held up her phone. "I kinda broke this last night when we both didn't want to wake up yet again." She admitted sheepishly. "Can I use your phone to order some food?"

"Just go get something, I promise to stay here and do nothing." Lena pointed out. "And get yourself a new phone while you're at it."

"I don't quite understand why we're here if your sister and Lena aren't going to be here to spy on." Winn carried around only a coffee as he spoke to Alex, if he was honest he was still uber full from the night before.

"We're here for two reason, one a part of me thinks they won't pay any attention to what I recommended and if I see them there's going to be a stand off, just warning you, the second is that I wanted to talk to you, away from people." Alex replied her eyes scanning the crowd constantly.

"Am I in trouble at work? I mean... it's just a few games. I didn't think the DEO would mind me having something to amuse myself with during down times while we wait for the board to light up." Winn fretted almost immediately. "I know that the representation of women in Land of Conan is a little trope, but it has really in depth character development none the less."

"I don't care what you play around with on your down time, I'm talking about Kara." She cleared the point of interest in their conversation right away.

"Kara? There's something wrong with Kara.. but I thought it was Lena who was hurt... I'm confused." He admitted honestly.

"Lena was hurt, is hurt..." Alex fuddled her own tenses and then refocused as she did so quickly and easily. "Kara has told Lena that..." She narrowed her eyes. "She's Supergirl." She hissed through clenched teeth.

"Whaaaaat?" Winn was not as subtle with his instant replay and then flash of angry eyes from Alex made him immediately lower his voice. "A Super volunteered to reveal their secret identity to a Luthor? What was Kara thinking?"

"I don't know but she did it anyway." Alex frowned slightly within her focus. "And I can't help but be the one thinking about the aftershocks of this when clearly my little sister isn't."

"J'onn is going to... do that thing he does when he's really unhappy." Winn put on a mock attempt to mimic the Martian's serious stern face of discontentment. "And him and Kara are just getting back on even footing."

"I know." Alex nodded, pulling in a deep breath. "Which is why I am telling you and not J'onn right now." She continued. "It's not that he doesn't deserve to or shouldn't know, it's just I don't think Kara has thought about this to even begin to tell him in a way that isn't going to explode at her."

"What did Lena say?" Winn asked not able to contain the burning question. "I mean was she cool about it like I was?" He held his chin a little higher.

"She hardly said anything, just that she would keep quiet and a comment about how different Kara and I were." Alex summed up. "I made sure to underline to her that she will be keeping quiet or I will do something to her she won't like if she steps out of line."

"Ouchie, you threatened to kill her didn't you?" Winn raised one eyebrow and then saw the flash of recognition on Alex's face. "You threatened to kill one of the Forbes top ten Alex, and a Luthor one at that. Wow you have balls of steel don't you." He made a gesture with his hands.

"I just know Kara reacts to things with her heart, and the rest of us have to do the thinking." Alex huffed out an unhappy sigh.

"Well actually this might have one or two small silver linings." Winn stood up a little taller as the thought hit him. "Firstly, Lena has a lot, and I do mean a lot of awesome tech at her company and if she's in the know then it's a lot easier for us to ask her to help us in regards to stuff that helps Supergirl." He put forward the more positive of the two. "Secondly, if your whole theory that she's evil and working somehow with CADMUS, now that she knows who Supergirl is, if they attack Kara directly in anyway, we know for sure she's dirty."

"Great you just outlined to me that possibly our most fearsome foe yet, may indeed be, by your own words, the most technologically advance and kitted out individual of all time." Alex huffed again. "How does that make me feel better exactly?"

"Because if Kara's gut says she's not evil, she's not evil so now we have the most technologically advanced and kitted out individual since her very evil brother, on our side." Winn grinned at her.

"You might not know this but MY sister's gut once told her that because eggs and their shell were filled with all kinds of nutrients and calcium she should eat them raw just like that." Alex pointed with a scowl.

"Ewwww." Winn let his initial reaction be honest. "But she's grown up since then."

"She thinks pot stickers are a food group." Alex countered.

"You think coffee is." Winn proposed back. "Look Alex I know, there is a lot we could..."

"Can you imagine what her cousin is going to say to this?" Alex interrupted him clearly not through with her rant.

"He won't be happy, I mean Lex is his literal arch nemesis." Winn nodded that he did understand this point. "Wait... Alex..." His mind seemed to stick on something. "Why did Kara tell her?"

"Does that really matter? Is that my point?" Alex brushed it off hoping Winn wouldn't pursue the matter."

"Yeah it kinda does, because Kara doesn't tell people she doesn't trust and doesn't view as well..." He hesitated for a moment. "Family." He finally offered up softly.

Alex closed her eyes for a moment and drew in a breath.

"Then clearly she feels that she can trust Lena Luthor, but that doesn't mean she's right."

"Doesn't mean she's wrong." Winn looked at her with a smile. "I mean come on, she is a literal genius, if she has been pulling apart her brother's evil leftovers then she understands more about alien technology then your average genius even, which is all in the plus column for us. I mean, that fabric sample she gave me, that alone has saved us years of R&D. It's literally spun magic gold." He made a motion with his fingers like he was running it over the fabric. "Kara's next suit is going to be awesome."

"Wait, so you are on the L-train too?" Alex arched an eyebrow.

"Well I wouldn't say... on the train... but.. I'd like to buy a ticket." Winn's mouth curled up into a broad smirk. "What..." He saw Alex's immediate look. "She's smart, geeky, and really well like supermodel-ish if you haven't noticed and come on YOU had to notice."

"I'm not talking about pretty or how supermodel-ish her body is, I'm talking about the fact that her brother, her equivalent of me to Kara, is a homicidal maniac who hate's Supers with as much passion as I love whiskey."

"And you love whiskey." Winn had to put in with a smirk. "Okay so what you're really saying is you want me to start watching Miss. Luthor on the down low at work, officially unofficially, for any signs she's well evil."

"Yes, that's what I'm saying, and..." She paused looking at him. "Watch Kara too, just to look for any changes, anything that might suggest she's being manipulated or something."

"After the Red Kryptonite episode I won't hesitate to call it if I see it." Winn nodded immediately. "That Kara was... weird."

"That Kara was a pain in the ass." Alex summed up for him.

"You didn't see her at the club." He pulled at his shirt collar.

"I never want to hear that used as a reference again." Alex pointed her finger at Winn and shook her head. "My sister is an innocent heart of gold girl, not..." She didn't finish, she just shook her head.

"She's lucky that Olsen and I are gentlemen and knew immediately something was up with her." Winn nodded that he understood the sentiment. "Oh speaking of which..." His phone gave a particular alert and he pulled it out. "Kara wants to know if we can pick up food for her and Lena instead of her coming to pick it up herself." He looked up at Alex. "I mentioned in a text to her we were here." He explained when a raised eyebrow was shot at him. "We were supposed to be picking up food to test anyway?" He shrugged his shoulders.

For a minute Alex just stood there, tension filling her shoulders and stance before she pressed out her breath.

"Fine, but you're coming with me when we drop it off you can make an assessment on what you see."

"Cool." Winn was instantly okay with the idea. "Okay so we'll make better time if we split up. I'll cover ribs, wings and burgers... you do artisan grill cheese, kebabs, shwarma and tacos?" He offered up.

"She doesn't want anything sweet?" Alex frowned at the unlikely situation.

"No, you're right. Okay new plan, you take the left, I'll take the right. And for the record this is going on my DEO credit card, I do not feed Supergirl on my salary." Winn pointed out as he began to back up.

"Kara doesn't feed Kara on her salary!" Alex called after him before turning to jog off towards the farthest truck.

Alex and Winn managed to amass such a huge amount of food, that the older Danvers' sister had ended up texting Kara to come down to the car and help them bring it up to her apartment. Now after two trips the entire kitchen island and counter were filled with various food containers, filling the whole apartment with the mixture of delicious smells.

From her place within the nest of pillows and blankets on the couch, Lena had been expressly told by Kara to stay where she was and thus hadn't been able to do much other than watch as the trio brought up the bounty of food to the kitchen. Her upbringing warred with the fact that while she was accustomed to being 'served', this was not the kind of situation where she expected such treatment. For that reason she had tried after the first trip to peel back the blankets around her body and go start to unpack the containers but Kara had been across the apartment to literally tuck her back in with a stern pout and a second instruction to 'stay put'.

"It smells like food truck festival in here!" Kara exclaimed in an excited voice as she handed both of her visitors a beer.

"Minus the body odour and stale beer." Alex countered with a sight raise of her eyebrow. "Want us to go back and grab a couple of drunk guys to fully immerse you?"

"Funny, no thank you." Kara gave a quick shake of her head and moved to the cupboard to pull out plates. She moved to hand one each to Winn and her sister, before keeping the other two in a stack. "Lena, shall I make a surprise plate for you?" She asked of the injured brunette on the couch. "Go on get food so we can eat." She pushed the other two to begin picking out things first.

"A surprise plate, that sounds good." There came a soft reply from the couch, that would have been accompanied with a head shake, but it was apparent that the brunette's head was still too sore to even try it. "Remember don't be vegetable shy, I like the healthy."

"Well that be a little problem because the entire Food Truck Festival was a little vegetable light and heavy on the 'meats'." Winn answered as despite himself he couldn't resist staring to pile ribs, wings and deep friend treats onto his plate. His heavy deep emphasis on the word meat was intended to be comical and amusing. Beside him Kara started to carefully pick out things she either knew Lena liked or that she wanted the brunette to try that she'd already tasted the night before. "How's the head by the way? I hear you had a mean fight with a shower that blindsided you, I hate it when plumbing goes bad." He grinned as he headed first over towards the couch and pulled one of the arm chairs closer to the moved coffee table to put his plate and beer down.

"I wasn't aware renegade plumbing was a problem here in National City, but now I am, I'm already trying to put together some kind of gadget to help." Lena offered with a soft laugh. "The first round of the fight definitely was taken by the tiling."

"I always wondered why we couldn't design a sonic wave cleaner..." Winn mused out loud. "Something to harmonically remove the dirt on a tiny particulate level." He offered up the vague idea before picking up a rib to take a big bite.

"When my hippo-campus is behaving less like an actual hippo, we should talk." Lena offered him a small smile.

"I hear we have a suit to design... with pants." Winn added with a grin pointing the meaty bone at her. "Which is a great idea by the way, it removes a lot of the wind sheer issues the skirt creates. We didn't want Supergirl recreating Marilyn Monroe over a grate every time she landed."

"Er... I think Lena gave you the hint to cut out shop talk till her head is better." Kara was suddenly by the side of the couch, her hand holding a plate, the other coming to cup around Lena's shoulder. "I got every vegetable I could." She smiled tenderly as she leaned and laid the plate on the blanket. "You want a water, a tea?"

"No, just get your plate, I know you're starving." Lena moved her hand to rest lightly over Kara's hand on her shoulder.

"Always." Kara looked into green eyes and held the pose for a brief moment smiling before she moved to slip away towards the kitchen. "But let me get you a tea first and some Advil, it's a good time to take some with food so you're tummy doesn't get upset." Her tone was tender and concerned.

"Sorry, I get a little too excited about shop talk sometimes I'm told." Winn apologized but looked sideways at Alex who was just moving down to settle on the floor beside the coffee table as she often did when they were enjoying take out as a group at Kara's. The brunette caught his eye and tried to keep her response fairly blank, even if she knew for a fact the first flag had gone up in Winn's mind and she had to admit she felt a little vindicated that she wasn't the only one imagining the interaction between the two women wasn't something she was fabricating. Even if she knew Kara was questioning things, it was reassuring to know that it seemed her appraisal that Lena was doing the same was shared by the attentive technician.

"How is the head doing? Officially." Alex offered the concerned question looking at the other brunette on the couch. "Any dizziness? Double vision? Is the arm giving you more trouble then it was?"

"It certainly wasn't happy about the fall but nothing that feels out of bounds." Lena looked at Alex with a very typical in controlled look that was her signature. "There's room on the couch Kara." She added looking past the brunette to where Kara was still picking out food.

"You know I'm making you scooch up." Kara answered her as she piled her plate high with food and kept an eye on the machine to see when Lena's single serve tea had finished brewing. It only seemed to take another few moments before she could return to the couch and indeed Lena did move her feet out of the way by curling into a demure ball and Kara sat down into the small space. She first reached to put Lena's tea down on the table in the brunette's reach with two small pills beside it before she reached to steal the edge of the blanket that was over Lena to put it across her own legs. She balanced her plate on her knees. "This looks amazing, thanks for picking it all up." She made sure to thank both her sister and Winn again.

"No probs, we were already getting stuff for samples after all." He shrugged as he ate and threw a sideways glance at Alex.

"Try the little pasta pouches first, they're not officially pot stickers but they taste almost as divine." Kara leaned in that tiny bit closer to Lena and pointed at the particular items with her fork. "I had them last night and I almost just left with the truck." She gave a soft laugh as she imagined the image.

"That would have certainly caused a spectacle." Lena smiled at the blonde, the smile light and relaxed.

"Remember the barrettes." She winked with a sly grin.

"See Kara, I told you she noticed." Alex couldn't resist ribbing her sister about the mistake she'd made the night before.

"Okay I admit that I wasn't my usually cool, calm and collected self." Kara rolled her eyes slightly at her sister holding her accountable. "I will make sure never to wear anything that 'identifiable' in my hair again just in case."

"You almost went out of the house this morning without your glasses." Alex countered not giving her an inch as she pushed some macaroni and cheese into her mouth, grinning around the fork.

"Lena, Winn, have you met my sister Alex, she never lets anything go." Kara let a little sisterly snark settle into her voice.

"They're like this all the time, you should see them at the office." Winn rolled his eyes at Lena.

"I don't know how anyone could bicker with Kara." Lena kept her smile all the while, though her eyes did pan over to Winn. "I mean could you?"

"No, not me." Winn shook his head softly and smiled back at her.

"Remember I'm your superior." Alex shot him a playfully stern warning look.

"Be nice, you're not at work." Kara jumped to his defense as she began to munch on a chicken wing and the thick dark sauce began to roll down her chin.

"And anyway Luthor..." Alex let her tone fill with obvious mischief. "I don't buy the innocent act, according to someone you don't like to be woken up for concussion checks."

"I didn't say anything bad!" Kara defended herself immediately. "And it was totally understandable that being woke up every hour when you were in so much pain..." She began to babble in soft worry that Lena would take Alex's comment the wrong way.

"Usually Kara can't do anything without making noise, so I'm personally surprised you had to wake her." Winn commented innocently.

Alex's head turned to the side so fast it could have given someone whiplash to move that quickly. In fact all three women were looking at him suddenly and as the words replayed in the young man's mind he realized that they had not come out how he had intended... exactly.

Winn slipped on his coat as he waited beside Alex in front of the rickety elevator in Kara's building. He eyed Alex from the side as she checked her phone again just to be sure that nothing important had come into her email from the DEO and waited until she stuck it back into her pocket to check his own.

"Soooooo..." Alex started as she stuffed both of her hands in her pockets. "Lena seems okay about the whole Kara is Supergirl thing." She began hoping to get Winn talking.

"I don't know if that's what I got from all... that." He moved his hand a little in a small circle. "I do know I'm leaving here with a sense of despondency..." He admitted with a soft sigh. "All the girls I like seem to just like each other."

"You see it too?" Alex turned to look at him, a half smug, half surprised look on her face.

"I tried hard not to see anything." Winn admitted. "I guess maybe Lena just brings out Kara's maternal side, maybe that's what we're seeing and because we're far less innocent, kind and fluffy we see something else."

"Yeah, you're right maybe that's it." Alex gave a soft sigh as she agreed with him, even if she didn't really believe the agreement or believe that Winn thought that either after his first comment but sometimes it was easier to lie to yourself. "She feels responsible that Lena got hurt in the attack in the first place, any fall out from it is bound to also feel like her fault." She tried to buy into the idea more and more. But if she was honest it wasn't Kara that was bothering her, she'd already called her sister on certain aspects of her reaction and her sister's response hadn't been a pure confirmation but it hadn't been a dismissal either. Her real question in all of this was Lena Luthor. "I guess I'm more surprised that Lena has such a maternal side in return, being a Luthor." She suddenly couldn't get the image of Lena wiping sauce off her sister's chin not once, or twice but a total of three times. All of them accompanied by soft laughs and long looks in the catalog of her mind.

It was Winn that looked at Alex with a frown this time.

"Do you really buy into the whole because Lena Luthor is a Luthor that means she isn't a real person?" He asked of her, slowly shaking his head. "Alex, I thought you were more... generous than that."

For a moment Alex had to evaluate whether in fact she was being closed off and judgmental. The answer coming back quickly that she was and this made her give a hard sigh.

"I am, and I do think there is a lot more to Lena then her just being a Luthor." Alex breathed out the fact thinking to how vulnerable and 'real' the other brunette had been laid out on the bathroom floor disoriented and desperate for help. How real she'd looked in the aftermath of the morning, sore and exhausted, drowned in one of Kara's shirts that was as far from her usual perfect designer wear as one could get. "I guess I'm just worried Winn." She admitted her deepest fear. "Even if Lena is just Lena, a good friend to Kara... what happens when Lex hears about this budding friendship? I know he's behind bars but he's proved just how dangerous he can be and I can't expect that he will take kindly to his only sister in the company of a Super, voluntarily."

"We can't live with that thought in our heads all the time though right?" Winn offered with a loose shrug. "I know that I used to be that way about my father...and even then when something bad did happen I wasn't any more prepared."

"That is a very astute observation Mr. Schott." Alex gave him a sideways smile as the elevator finally arrived and the door crawled open for her to step inside. "I guess we just keep doing what we're doing, fighting the good fight, helping back up Kara and protect her whenever we get the chance."

"That sounds like the plan I had for pretty much the rest of my life." Winn rewarded her with a smile and a nod. "Interspersed with much laughter, good food, great company, and extraterrestrial shenanigans."

"Here, here." Alex put up her fist and he bumped his into it as the door closed and the elevator began to descend.

"Here we go, see it wasn't that bad." Kara gently let her feet land on the large outdoor patio that Lena had indicated was hers when she'd untucked her face from the side of Kara's neck long enough to survey where they were. While back in her dress pants, Kara had told her to keep the sleep shirt and even layered a thick hoodie over it to protect Lena on the flight over.

"It would take some getting used to to become a comfortable experience." Lena replied moving forward to tap a code into the digital pad by the door which unlocked literally everything in the apartment beyond, including turning on several lights.

"Where do you want to situate yourself, living room or bedroom?" Kara moved to easily keep the light brunette in her arms and opened the now unlocked door before moving inside.

"The living room will be fine." Lena offered the place, hoping Kara wouldn't do the math to equate that there was a desk and computer set up just to the back of the couch where, when she was alone Lena could shift to and get some work done.

"Is that so you can do work when I leave? Because if I fly by here later and you're working, so help me Lena..." Kara actually managed to put some disappointment in her voice.

"You'd actually be upset wouldn't you?" Lena looked at the blonde with a mixed look of surprise and confusion.

"Yes, I would be. Your orders are to rest and not tax your head with screens and messages and numbers." Kara spelled out. "I know nothing on earth will keep you from being in your office on Monday but it's the weekend and you have two serious injuries. You can take two days off."

Arching her eyebrows slightly, and shaking her head, her look being replaced by a genuinely soft smile, Lena breathed out.

"The bedroom then please." She altered the instruction.

"See how easy it is to be reasonable." Kara smile was beaming now as she continued her walk through, taking Lena's cues to find the master bedroom and moving inside she settled Lena down with infinite care in the middle of the large king sized bed. "See isn't that more comfortable then an office chair? You didn't sleep well with me waking you up all night, now you can just rest and not have me annoying you."

"You didn't sleep well either." Lena stopped and tipped her head slightly. "Do you even sleep, I mean you probably have to rest for a minimal amount, but that's not sleeping. Have you taught yourself to sleep, to shut off?"

"Actually I do need to sleep, just not as much as you do." Kara smiled as she sat down on the edge of the bed. "And to be honest, I did doze off for quite awhile for me this morning, thus why I cracked my phone." She gave a soft embarrassed laugh. "I guess worrying wears me out." She offered softly to the brunette.

"You don't need to worry, the accident was just stupid and I did it to myself." Lena sighed.

"Lena..." Kara shook her head to stop her and reached out to touch her leg. "Accident's happen, you don't do them to yourself, they just happen and because it is an accident it is no less or a reason to worry." She shook her head a second time lightly. "I'm afraid to tell you this but if you think I'm not going to worry about you, you're wrong. Even if you tell me not too, it's just... me, I worry about the people who are important to me."

"I'm not used to being worried about." Lena was honest as she reached to touch her fingers to the back of Supergirl's hand.

"Well then lucky for you you're going to have lots of time to get used to it in the future." Kara moved her hand to interlink their fingers as they had almost all night.

"Anyway.." Lena seemed almost to pull herself together slightly as she drew in a breath. "Go, do something fun, and super." She laughed gently.

"Yeah it's Saturday night in National City, people seem to always pick this as a great night to do stupid things." Kara gave a soft laugh. "You'll call if you need anything right? I'll do fly by when I can to check in."

"I will." Lena promised with a nod. "After all I have your number." She gave Kara a brilliant smile.

"How about I bring you breakfast in the morning? Then you don't have to worry about cooking." Kara offered not liking the idea of leaving without any outline of when she'd see Lena again to really check in on her.

"Fine." Lena gave in surprisingly easily. "But bring me a tea, not juice. Please." She asked for the specific item hoping Kara wouldn't think she was being too picky.

"Tea, check." Kara grinned giving Lena's hand a quick squeeze before she moved to stand up. "So you hate this outfit eh?" She added with a grin remembering a comment the brunette had made to 'Kara' in the past as she stood up at attention.

Lena just nodded, though she was still smiling.

"Pants, you need pants." She put in her objection.

"Well now that you're in the know, you can message Winn and get to work on my new outfit." Kara smiled as she moved towards the door. "I think I'll like pants."

"Be careful Kara." Lena watched the blonde reach the door and made the quick request. "Your sister's not the only one who wants to protect you."

"I hear the name Luthor carries some weight in this town, maybe my Saturday night will be boring for once." Kara's smile widened.

Alex stood next to her sister as Detective Sawyer and some other officers funneled the five member of the team that had just been apprehended in the middle of a bank robbery into trucks, though Alex's eyes for once weren't on her sister but on the National City detective. She did however address her sister as they watched.

"Do you ever question whether or not you should help humanity, when it's clear we're not exactly all worthy?" She folded her arms across her chest in her usual 'focused' pose.

"No, I don't Agent Danvers." Supergirl shook her head to the question. "I have seen in my time that even if there are a few who can't play nice, the overwhelming majority of humans are filled with love and understanding for each other. As a race you display more than enough to make you worthy of my help."

Alex smiled at her sister's words and gave a nod.

"How many times have you done a fly by around Lena's place since you dropped her off at 6?" As was usual for Alex, her next question was more directly about the thoughts she was mulling over.

"Once or twice." Supergirl responded a little vaguely. "She managed almost two hours before she dragged her laptop in on the bed with her." She tutted softly remembering the image.

Alex just shook her head laughing softly.

"That's never gonna stop, you know that right. Lena is fighting a hard battle right now and for her that comes first."

"I try to remind myself of that." Supergirl admitted in a sadder voice. "I wish she could see that she's worth more than a few more emails or a budget sheet, she's in a lot of pain still."

"Feelings are hard to wrangle, emotions like love and care present challenges unlike anything else." Alex seemed to pull in an almost unnecessary breath, her words coming out softer.

Supergirl stayed silent for a moment and then caught where her sister's eye line was staring. It only took another moment for her to realize it was Detective Sawyer that Alex was concentrating on.

"Did you go visit your challenge last night? Is that why you didn't get any sleep?" Kara took a half step closer as she asked the question in a low voice, only between the two of them.

For a moment surprised eyes flashed a look at Kara before Alex dropped her look to the ground at their feet and closed her eyes momentarily, another, deeper, slower breath coming from her lungs.

"I think I might have ruined everything." She admitted to possibly the only person she ever would.

"How? It hasn't even started yet." Supergirl questioned with an instant worried look.

"I did go to her place last night, from yours." Alex admitted in a low voice. "It was like suddenly I knew what I wanted and I knew who I wanted it from and..." She stopped and shook her head. "And that happened and..." Her voice tightened.

"Alex, did you sleep with her?" Kara stepped in as close as she could to ask the hissed question. "How was it?"

"Not the point Kara." Alex breathed back opening her eyes to look into blue. "Though there was sex... much sex..." She derailed herself momentarily. "But I bailed." She revealed what she was having the hardest time with.

"Alex!" Kara immediately chided her. "Did you leave a note? Text her since at least?"

"No, nothing." Alex shook her head. "This... is our first interaction since." She nervously licked her lips.

"So it is... Maggie?" Kara's eyes shot up to look at the Detective who was giving orders to some beat cops about how she wanted the scene managed until the inmate transports left the scene with such a big number of assailants.

"Yes." Alex admitted in a whisper. "I think... what if I've ruined everything?"

"When we're done here... talk to her." Kara pushed softly. "She must know this is well new to you, and I bet she's really just feeling uncertain about where you are in all of this, so if you let her in a little... you know how you can be Alex, not everyone has the Alex Danvers code book like I do." She pointed out further. "You need to tell her that why you bailed and that you clearly don't want last night to be the only night."

Alex was about to respond to her sister, even though she wasn't sure she could say any of the things Kara had suggested actually to Maggie, she also knew that her sister was the best sounding board she had ever had. The oldest Danvers however didn't get the chance to respond as a call came towards the two of them.

"Agent Danvers can I speak to you." Came from Maggie's mouth, the detective having separated herself from the officers to stand alone. "In private." She made sure to ward off any of the other officers with her hard voice.

"Good luck." Kara whispered before standing taller. "Well things seemed tied up here. Agent Danvers, Detective Sawyer, have a good night." She flew off into the air leaving Alex to face the music all on her own.

It had been over a week since Lena's 'embarrassing' accident and what a week it had been for everyone. Supergirl had found herself chasing down an endless litany of wrong doers, and Lena had found herself trying to make up for taking almost an entire weekend off. It was just unheard of for the CEO to not at least be answering messages and emails.

It was nothing but pleasure that brought a smile to Lena's face as Jess brightly announced from the doorway to her that her two o'clock was here. The brunette had not really seen her best friend for literally days, barely being able to keep up with each other through text, so she was simply happy that Kara was now being shown into the office by her PA.

Lena automatically pushed back from her desk and up to stand in a graceful movement, her body covered by a respectfully office tight black dress with white piping down the sides, along the bottom hem and around the box neckline. Gone was the cumbersome brace, replaced by a slim lined extra sleeve that was attached to the dress somehow and that kept her arm in the correct bent orientation against her chest. How this was achieved was hidden from view but it was all designed in a way that kept the arm stable and supported. Kara instantly decided that Lena had probably designed and created the new 'medical sleeve' in less than a week when she'd become too annoyed by the one supplied by the hospital. Concealer covered the wound on her head, which had gone through several of the stages of bruising since she had last seen Kara and was relatively easy to cover now.

"Kara." Red lips pulled instantly into a bright smile.

"Lena." The immediate brightness on Kara's face was unmistakable, as she too had missed spending time with her best friend but she'd also come to understand when your best friend was a Fortune 500 company CEO, whose job it was to literally run the work lives of tens of thousands of employees, her time was precious. "You look so good, you're cut is almost all gone." She moved over quickly, letting the paper shop bag she carried slip up her wrist as she moved over and immediately went in to hug the brunette, though she remembered to be careful of her arm. "And that arm brace, is that approved by a doctor?"

"Technically no, but L-Corp has already approached several medical specialists to run trials." Lena gave Jess a nod as she slipped out and motioned to the huge sectional. "You look fantastic too, new blazer?" She asked as they walked.

"What do you think?" Kara purposefully posed a little. "It was an impulse buy, I'm not sure it doesn't make me look... square?" She tried to sum up her issues with the navy garment that she had paired with both a short trendy lemon sweater and a smart white dress top and khaki's.

Lena laughed and shook her head as she tucked one leg under herself and sat down.

"I think it looks really smart, makes me wonder what you'd look like in a suit." She flared her eyebrows.

"Like a linebacker in a suit?" Kara screwed up her face a little.

"Kara please..." Lena shook her head and pressed up as the blonde was still standing. Moving over to her she put her right hand on Kara's shoulder. "Yes, you have shoulders..." She ran her hand along Kara's neck to her shoulder and lightly cupped the joint before trailing down her arm and then moving the small distance with her hand to settle to the side of Kara's waist. "But you slim down to this feminine waist and flare out again to your hips..." She moved her hand a second time in a mirror of her words. "You've got the near perfect hour glass figure."

The whole time that Lena had been examining her, Kara had felt the hot blush that came to her face as Lena talked about her so flatteringly but what she wasn't aware of was the way her lips parted slightly and then the tip of her tongue came out to wet her bottom lip as a wave of something passed through her as Lena's hand suddenly settled on her hip.

"When's your birthday, I have the perfect idea of a present for you." Lena slid her hand off the blonde's side and went to collect her phone.

"Not for ages, September 22nd, the day I fell to earth." Kara responded adding the last part softly.

"Too long." Lena shook her head and instead flicked through her calendar. "What about the 22nd of this month?" She looked at Kara with bright eyes as she walked back to the couch.

"Lena, you don't just get to change someones birthday because you want to give them presents." Kara shook her head.

"I'm not changing your birthday silly I'm asking if you're free... the changing your birthday part I'd have to do with my legal team." She smirked cheekily.

"Yes, I'm free. My calendar is really not as full as yours." Kara reminded her with a laugh and came over to the couch area. "But I almost forgot, for you." She reached to lift the bag up and deposited it carefully on the coffee table. The handle was white, the bag itself an almost annoying colour of baby pink with a whimsical font the store name of 'Sweet Heaven' was written across the side.

"You're distracting me but I'll allow it." Lena put her phone on the cushion next to her as she resettled. "What's in it?"

"Snapper has me doing a puff piece about the top new bakery's in the city because of the dessert craze that Cat-Co magazine is doing a big spread about next month, so I just figured you'd want to share the 'swag' one of the owners tried to bribe me with." Kara grinned knowing like herself Miss. Luthor had a bit of a sweet tooth.

"An old but still a good bribe, free merchandise." Lena nodded to herself a little before leaning up a little like a child about to be given something special. "Well surprise me."

"We have options." Kara reached into the bag and carefully took out the equally bright pink hard sided box before she moved over to put that on the couch between them and open it up to reveal that inside was a selection of treats. One line of handmade truffles, the next line made up of petite one bite cheesecakes in a half dozen different flavours and the last a line of miniature cakes each so perfect the blonde wasn't sure they shouldn't just be gazed at rather than eaten. "I think they were trying to impress for sure, they must not know how low I am on the totem pole at work." She gave a soft laugh.

"Nor do they need to." Lena smiled and seemed to peruse the selection for a moment. "I can never say no to cheesecake." She reached in carefully and selected a beautifully swirled cream and blue offering. "If this doesn't taste like blueberry heaven I will be severely disappointed." She winked at Kara.

"I will put that in my article if it doesn't." Kara encouraged her to eat it, picking out a similar cheesecake but one that was adorned with a single perfect raspberry.

"No... no wait." Lena scowled and literally bit the blueberry cheesecake in half, which as it was a bite sized one was no mean feat. She let it sit in the side of her mouth, not chewing it, as she offered the other half directly to Kara's mouth.

"Oh." Kara breathed in surprise as suddenly the treat was just there, hanging in the air and not able to refuse the brunette she leaned and found it gently pressed in onto her tongue so she could eat it, not missing the tiny drag of a finger over her bottom lip. "Definitely blueberry." She managed as she chewed on it then moaned. "That is so good."

Lena enjoyed her own half and then nodded with a smile.

"I will agree it didn't disappoint." She summed up. "Now your choice, the raspberry." She nodded to Kara.

"Right." Kara felt her stomach do a flip flop as she first took a demure bite and then offered the rest to Lena. Swallowing despite the lump of cheesecake on her tongue that she was waiting to really taste, as she let her finger just sweep that little bit as Lena's had against the brunette's lower lip. The second flip flop almost making her feel as if the room had suddenly lost all sense of gravity.

Lena used her tongue to press the delicious morsel to the roof of her mouth to literally fill it with the creamy cheesecake sweetness.

"Well they can certainly make a cheesecake." She summed up. "I won't torture you with trying to half the other cheesecake bites, I know you must just want to devour them.."

"No, you started the sharing and I was taught to share." Kara shook her head and picked up one with a twirl of dark and white chocolate on the top. She carefully took her bite and then offered up Lena the rest.

The CEO leaned in so her mouth met Kara's fingers as she reached out. Opening her mouth as they touched, she let her lips close before Kara got to completely pull back, just catching the tips of Supergirl's fingers. If Lena had had her eyes open she would have seen how hard Kara ended up biting her lip after the exchange happened.

"What flavour do you think that one is?" She pointed to the next one in line that was literally bright yellow.

"Citrus, not lemon." Lena made the point of distinction. "There are orange flecks on the top see." She pointed out with a smile. "This one should be called Chocolate dream." She licked her lips free of any remnants.

"Well..." Kara smirked as she made the bold move of just opening her mouth in expectation.

Lena laughed brightly as she selected the brightly coloured offering and moved it to Kara's mouth whole.

"Bite." She encouraged the single word coming out with more connotation than she'd expected it too in the charged room.

Kara's eyes seemed to widen a bit before she leaned the short distance to bite into the decadent treat, of course as she did, she couldn't help the brush of her lips over Lena's fingertips where she was holding to the small morsel. She wondering if Lena could feel the way the world around them was being shaken like a snow globe so that the air seemed to fill with magical sparkling light. Her stomach flip flopped another time, the motion leaving the feeling of a knot in her middle that she wasn't really familiar with.

Lena dropped the other half into her mouth and again followed the procedure of literally filling her sense with the dessert before swallowing it, a soft moan of pleasure coming to her lips. She just loved citrus, not that she was at all complaining about the show either, which she almost guiltily acknowledged to herself was the reason she was insisting on continuing the 'sharing game'.

"What do you think? Do you like the melody of citrus flavours and sweetened cream cheese?"

"Sometimes I find lemon a bit too snappy but that was divine." Kara couldn't help that her eyes were fixed on Lena and she didn't even glance down at the box. "One left..." She reached down to pick up the coconut flake topped mini dessert, the delicate pieces of white making it look as if snow had drifted down onto it. With another clench in her stomach she lifted it up and offered it to the brunette in front of her.

Lena had no intentions of turning this opportunity down and she leaned in and literally closed her lips, not just around half of the cheesecake, but instead covering the dessert in its entirety pulling it from Kara's now slightly damp fingers.

"Sorry Kara, coconut is my favourite." She winked and made a slow motion of enjoying the treat.

"No..." The answer came out wrong and Kara was forced to clear her throat. "I technically brought them for you to enjoy." She let out a soft sigh of a breath as her mind committed to replaying the moment over and over for a second and she realized that as soon as she could she was going to have to have another conversation with her sister about a few things.

"I'll make it up to you, you can have all the mini-cakes, they're filled with icing and cream and that's messy." She pointed out. "And I have a three o'clock I need to be prepared for after you."

"Fair exchange." Kara gave her a soft nod reaching down to pick up one of the cakes and with a smirk for a second she pushed the whole thing into her mouth and ate it quickly. "Oh that is good and yes there is cream in the middle." She relayed to Lena. "Would have been really messy."

A bright laugh came from Lena's lips as she shook her head for a moment.

"I'm stealing a truffle though, and I may just take one or two and hide them away in my drawer for later."

"I can make it easy and just super eat the rest of the cakes." Kara gave her another smirk. "Then you can keep the box to keep the truffles safe for you to steal one here and there for the rest of your day."

"Thank you." Lena expressed, more than happy with that, though obviously she would put them in a smaller container when the blonde left. "You need to give them a good report, and tell me exactly where this Sweet Heaven store is located."

"I will, these are delicious." Kara had already gobbled down a second cake. "Remember to tell them I referred you, they might send me more so we can share them again."

"Of course." Lena nodded. "Though they better not have a loyalty card, I do not shop in stores that feel the need to give away their product when I already know how fabulous it is." She gave a wide smile to Kara. "Save the green one for last, I want to know if it's apple, chocolate mint or lime."

Kara gave her a nod as she popped the third chocolate one in her mouth, grinning as the entire middle split into the most delicious cream she'd ever tasted. Finishing it up in record time as usual, she eased the green one out of place, and eased one of the posh paper napkins tucked into the sides around it so she could ensure it wouldn't cause a mess before she held it out for Lena to take the first bite.

"Oh I didn't mean you had to share it but..." She grinned and leaned to bite the cake, a soft but thick light green coloured cream oozing out of what turned out to be a regular vanilla sponge, just coated with green icing. "Oh my..." Lena leaned back and brought her hand to her lips momentarily before she reach a finger to steal more of the inner cream. "Pistachio." She made a low moan.

"So really you like Pistachio more than coconut?" Kara made the mental note before she popped the rest of it into her mouth and was forced to give a moan of her own. "I have never had Pistachio in a cake but wow, that is yummy." She licked a stray bit of cream off her lip from the messy treat.

"They seem to be really reaching out into bold flavours. I like that." Lena nodded. "And I do prefer pistachios to coconut, but there are things I like even more." She offered. "Kale being a big one." She grinned.

"Ergh." Kara made an immediate noise of displeasure. "I will never forgive you for ruining my burger that time with it."

"Is it because it's green? You Supers don't like green things do you?" Lena cheekily asked as she reached for a second perfect napkin to pat at her lips.

To Be Continued in Episode Five...
