- Start Chapter 4 –
It was 9:30 pm, and Deliah was tired after doing homework, as well as hanging out with Harry all day. Most of their activities consisted of running around while being chased by Matt while he was armed with his MP5 BB gun. Needless to say, she was tired, and she just wanted to sleep. However, there was one thing that made her question if she should go to bed. That being the fear of having another nightmare about Golden Freddy. Last time, she felt like she was going to die, but at the end of the day, she didn't. So what would the next nightmare be? She knew it was going to be a nightmare. It was almost laughable how many of them she had.
So, she let out a stuttered sigh and closed her bedroom door. She crawled into bed and shut off her lamp. Tucking herself in, she laid back on her pillow and shut her eyes.
When her eyes started to reopen, she heard the sound of a fan buzzing and light flickering. She looked around the room, and she instantly became confused. The room she was in was an office. TV monitors and cobwebs were decorating the desk. On the wall behind it was a poster of Freddy Fazbear, Chica the Chicken, and Bonnie the Bunny. On the uppermost left-hand corner of the desk was Chica's cupcake, Carl.
To her right and left were doorways, with two buttons that read: Door and Light. She looked down and realized she was sitting in a swivel seat, and she was wearing what seemed to be a security guard uniform. On the desk was a security panel. She blinked a couple of times, trying to figure out why she was in a security guard outfit when a phone rang.
"What the-" She was cut off by the phone continuing to ring. She didn't know where a phone was; moreover, she didn't know if there was one in the building. That's when she saw it in the other corner of the desk. Before she could get the chance to walk up and answer it, she heard the sound of the phone call being accepted, like an automated voice messaging system.
"Hello? Hello, Hello! Uh, I wanted to leave a message for you to help get you settled in on your first night. Um… I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact, so… I know it can be a little overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you; there is nothing to worry about, uh, you'll do fine!" The voice on the phone said, confusing Deliah. She never applied anywhere for a nightshift, much less a Fazbears, if her suspicions led to be true.
Then, she remembered. "Right… this is a nightmare, Deliah. This isn't real, in any way. It can't possibly be, right?" Deliah said, not feeling so sure if she believed in what she was saying. "So… let's just focus on getting you through your first night. Ok? Uh… Let's see here. First, there is an introductory greeting from the company I'm supposed to read. Eh, it's kind of a legal thing ya' know. Ahem. 'Welcome to Freddy Fazbears Pizza: a magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovery of the damage or death has occurred, a missing persons report will be filed within ninety days or as soon as the premise and property has been thoroughly cleaned and bleached and the carpets have been replaced. Blah, Blah, blah."
Deliah's eyes widened at the mention of this. Sure, this was fake as far as she knew, but that policy was mortifying! If what the man said was true, then any nightguards who actually worked here and disappeared would never be found. It's perfectly legal, too, due to the wording. Deliah felt a chill snake up her spine. She pinched her arm, hoping to not feel any pain from it to her shock. It was just like last time. She felt the tinge of pain from the pinch to her mind and body. This was real. She swallowed her fear and stress as the man kept talking.
"Now… that might sound bad, I know, but there is nothing to really worry about! Uh… the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No! If I had to sing… those same stupid songs for twenty years, and I never got a bath? I'd be a bit irritable at night too. So remember: These characters hold a special place in the hearts of children, so you have to treat them with a little respect, Right? Ok. So, just be aware: The characters, they do tend to wander a bit. Uh… They're left to enter some sort of 'free-roaming mode' at night. Uh… something about their servos locking up if they're left off for too long at night? I don't know. Uh… They used to be able to free-roam during the day too! That was till… the bite of '87. Amazingly, the human body could live without the frontal lobe ya' know?"
Now Deliah was really freaked out. 'Bite of '87?! I read up on that. Some poor kid got his head crushed by some sort of animatronic! But… why was this mentioned to me? Could this be of some relevance?' Deliah thought. She got up from her chair and glanced down the hallway. She stared at the animatronics on stage. Her fears were disconfirmed when she saw them on stage. She smiled, knowing that they hadn't moved yet. She glanced at the time; it was somehow already 2 am if the clock was correct. As she pondered to how that was possible, the phone guy continued talking.
"Now, considering your safety: The only real risk as the watchman here, if any, is that these characters… if they happen to see you here after hours, they probably won't recognize you as a person, and instead, see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Since that is against the rules here at Freddy's fazbears pizza, They'll probably try and… stuff you inside of a spare mascot suit. Now that doesn't sound that bad until you consider all the crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices inside the suit, especially around the facial area. So you could imagine that it would cause a bit of discomfort… and death. Uh… the only parts of you that would see the light of day again would be your eyes and maybe some teeth when they pop out in front of the mask. Heh… T-They don't tell you this when you sign the contract. But, hey! Your first day should be a breeze, uh… check those camera's, and close the doors when only absolutely necessary, gotta conserve power. Alright, goodnight."
The phone hung up as Deliah was mortified. She grabbed the security panel as if her life depended on it. This was just a nightmare, right? It had to be! There was no way in hell this would be real! Even if, despite the fact that she felt pain after being pinched, this was fake, all in her head, all a figment of her imagination. The side of the security panel stated that it was 3 am. Something was wrong in this dream. Time doesn't move that fast. It shouldn't be possible. But then again, she had experienced worse nightmares before, the last one being a damn good example.
When the panel turned on, her heart began to race when she saw that Bonnie was no longer on stage. She panicked. She had no idea where he was, and she needed to find him, now. She checked the other cameras and found him standing in the party room. Her heart slowed down, she found him, and he was a distance away from her, so that was good at least. However, she took the phone guys' words to heart. If they caught her, it could spell her death. If the pain she experienced with that Golden Freddy thing was real, then the feeling of being crushed to death would be real too.
However, she didn't know if it would translate to her waking up. She would be damned if she was going to check. On the camera, it showed a power meter. 82% was left. She had a lot to work with, but she also knew that she couldn't stay on the cameras for too long, or it would go down faster. She closed the cameras and walked over to the security door, and pressed the light button to get a better look at what was outside in the hallway. She hadn't noticed, but Bonnie was now standing at the end of the hallway. It saw her and began to move closer to her. She panicked and stuck her head back in, slamming the door on her assailant. Her heart was beating a mile a minute, and she was panicking a lot. She backed up into the other hallway and peered down it. Chica was just getting off stage, and her heart sank.
She stumbled back into the office and peered out the window. Bonnie was at the door, banging his fist on it. Eventually, he gave in and walked away. She sighed a breath of relief as she checked the cameras. He ventured back to the dining room. Deliah opened the door, seeing that she now had 67% power left and that it was 5 am. Despite the mini-heart attack she just received, she was doing pretty well for herself. She closed her camera panel and looked at the left door. Nothing. She felt successful. However, there was a small amount of horror dawning on her. Was she going to be experiencing this same nightmare over and over again? She swallowed back her anxiety before hearing the chimes of a bell, indicating that it was now 6 am.
She blinked, and everything was gone. All that she saw was a giant 6 am staring back at her. She heard clapping from behind her. She turned around, only to reveal Golden Freddy. She stared at him with an angered look. She was going to speak when he spoke over her. "Deliah Edwards. You did a good job back there. I feel the need to congratulate you. However, this is a test. A test to see just how much you can put up with. This is only the beginning, Deliah Edwards. You will be put through much more terror, much more pain, and maybe… you might just lose your life." Golden Freddy said, making Deliah's eyes widen.
"Wha-What do you mean?! Lose my life!? Are you mental! I won't die in that; it's just a dream!" Deliah shouted as the golden bear let out a chilling laugh. "Is it now? Have you ever seen a nightmare on elm street, Deliah Edwards?" With that one sentence, her blood ran cold. Even if this was a dream, if she dies in the dream world, she died in the real world.
The bear chuckled, his eyes sparkling with white light. "I don't hate you. But you need to stay out of my way. We cannot have you messing in affairs you don't understand." Golden Freddy said, snapping his fingers as Deliah's vision went black.
She jumped up from her bed, screaming as she grabbed her chest. Her heart was racing a mile a minute, and she needed a minute to breathe. She looked around; she was in her room. She breathed a sigh of relief. She looked at the time. It was 6 am, just like it was when she was in the dream. She looked down at her arm. The pinch mark was there, unlike last time.
"Deliah? Are you ok?" The voice spooked Deliah a bit. Its gravelly tone shocked her for a second when she remembered that Springtrap was now in the house. She looked at the yellow rabbit. He looked concerned; she sighed before getting out of bed, revealing her to be wearing a pink pyjama shirt and purple shorts. "Yeah, just another one of those nightmares. That stupid Golden Freddy thing… gah, I hate it so much!" Deliah said, forgetting that Springtrap was in the room.
At the mention of Golden Freddy, Springtrap's facial expression changed from concern to shock. He mumbled something under his breath before sighing. "It's Miles. His name is Miles. He was one of the children who got murdered back at Fazbears. We talk… but we aren't friends. He has a grudge against me for whatever reason, probably because I was the suit the killer wore. Although, I'm surprised he didn't move on. If he's here, then the others are too." Springtrap said as Deliah snapped her head to face Springtrap's direction. "Hold on… what did you say?" Deliah asked as Springtrap snickered. "Should have been paying attention. His name is Miles. He was murdered at Fazbears a long time ago. His killer got away, and they don't know who did it. He has a grudge against me because I was the suit the killer used to kill him." Springtrap said as Deliah looked down at the floor. She looked back at Springtrap with a confused look. "How would you know that?" Deliah asked as Springtrap sighed. "Deliah, I've been alive since my creation. I would know what happened, who wore me, and who acted on my behalf." Springtrap said as Deliah nodded.
"Right, well. I'll get dressed, have breakfast, and we can leave." Deliah said as Springtrap smirked. "Good. Oh, and I made Pancakes. Also, your dad just got home. He seemed extremely tired and spooked. So… he most likely will be asleep when we leave." Springtrap said as Deliah nodded. Springtrap made himself scarce as Deliah got dressed.
- With Springtrap –
He was careless. He was glad that he was able to salvage his conversation. If not, he would've been found out. He wiped the metaphorical sweat from his forehead and walked downstairs. 'So… Miles didn't move on… I thought he moved, and the other four remained. I have to act faster, this is a perfect opportunity, and I won't let it die on me.' Springtrap thought as he went to the kitchen. He glanced at the pancakes and smiled.
"I didn't know I still had my cooking prowess," Springtrap muttered as he glanced around the kitchen, then at the knife block. "I think I need to teach Deliah the proper way to wield a knife. Whether she ever needs to defend herself, or if she decides to follow down the path I've set for her, she needs to learn either way." Springtrap said as the ghost children appeared behind him.
"Y-You! You have to stop this! Please!" Oscar pleaded as Springtrap raised an eyebrow and turned around. "Why should I?" Springtrap said as Noah stepped up. "It's Miles. You know, as well as I do that, he can take things too far. He's forcing Deliah to deal with the past restaurants and their nightguards. That includes yours. Before you escaped the fire, and before you ran and hid here. If Deliah dies in her nightmares, she dies in real life. If you even care about her for a single second, you'd leave and not come back." Noah said as Springtrap smirked.
"Please… William. Don't just think about yourself for once!" Jennifer begged as Springtrap snarled. "No! Do you know how valuable this is! Also, NEVER call me William! EVER AGAIN!" Springtrap shouted, causing the ghosts to disappear. Just as he finished speaking, Deliah entered the room. She was wearing a purple hoodie and blue jeans; her hair was loose and down to her shoulders. "You ok? You were talking to yourself." Deliah said as Springtrap sighed. "It's nothing. Just some annoying ghosts of the past still haunting me." Springtrap muttered as Deliah looked over at the stack of Pancakes.
"Those smell good," Deliah said as Springtrap folded his arms and smiled. "Go ahead, try them," Springtrap said as Deliah took one from the stack and placed it on a plate. She dumped some syrup on it as Springtrap handed her some utensils, that being of a fork. Deliah cut a bit off from the pancake and stabbed it with her fork. Putting it in her mouth, she chewed and swallowed. Smiling, she turned back to the bunny animatronic as she wiped her mouth with her hand.
"That's amazing! How did you learn to cook pancakes? And why are they so~~~~o good!" Deliah said as Springtrap scoffed. "When you have nothing to do for thirty years, you learn that reading is a damn good pastime. It's ironic since the boxes in the saferoom were filled with cookbooks. Who would've known? Either way, I learn pretty easily." Springtrap said as Deliah smiled. She went back to eating the pancakes as Springtrap leaned against the counter and glanced at the knife beside him. He was tempted to just stab her in the back, but he knew that she was also easily manipulated, as shown back in the bedroom and saferoom when they first met.
However, something made him not want to kill her. That being that, she reminded him of his daughter. Elizabeth Afton. She died at the hands of his own creation, much like his son did. He hated the fact that she reminded him so much of Elizabeth. For that fact alone, he wanted her gone so that she would stop reminding him of her, but he also liked it. Shaking his head, he grabbed the butcher knife and cleared his throat.
Deliah turned to him and nearly dropped her fork. "Don't get the wrong idea. I actually want to teach you how to use a knife properly." Springtrap said as Deliah looked relieved. "Here, take it. We've got an hour before you have to go to school." Springtrap said as Deliah swallowed her mouthful of pancake. "Why?" Deliah asked as Springtrap sighed. "So you know how to defend yourself in case of someone breaking into the house. I may be an animatronic, but I know what to do in that kind of situation. You, on the other, do not." Springtrap said as Deliah sighed as she took the knife from him.
When Deliah took the knife from Springtrap's hand, she looked into the blade, and for a split second, she swore she saw her reflection grinning back at her, her eyes crazed looking with blood on her cheek. She shook her head slightly as her reflection changed back to normal. Why did she see that? She chalked it up to her being tired. After all, Nightmares are rumoured to make the person who has them restless.
"Deliah, let's go to the basement. It has more room," Springtrap said, walking out of the kitchen. Deliah watched as he walked down to the basement. One thought came to mind but was squished down immediately. She followed him down to the basement as the thudding metal footsteps guided her. Once she made it down, she was shocked at what she saw.
Sitting on a table was a fully built endoskeleton. It shocked her, and as she glanced over at the box of animatronic parts, her jaw dropped. It was half empty. Power tools were lying about, and a computer was on with lines and lines of code. "Wha-what is all of this?!" Deliah said. Her cheeks were red, and her eyes were sparkling.
"Well, I saw a box saying 'my dream,' and I knew that it was yours. So, to pay you back for helping me, I'm going to help you." Springtrap said as Deliah nearly cried tears of joy. "Thank you!" Deliah said, bear-hugging Springtrap's waist, catching him off guard. She cried into his waist as he patted her on the back. She stopped crying as she wiped her tears of joy out of her eyes. Things were starting to look up for Deliah Edwards.
As for Springtrap, this was a prime opportunity to mould her into the perfect successor. Teaching her about how to handle a knife with ease, teaching her about the animatronics and how they are built. All of it was so easy. She was just like his daughter, and in a way, a more innocent 'pre-serial killer' version of himself. He smiled, looking down at Deliah as he cleared his throat.
"Deliah, what did you want to name this new animatronic that is in the works? Do you have any idea for a design or name?" Springtrap asked as Deliah shook her head. "No… Actually… yeah! I do! How about… a dog. We'll call it… Doug!" Deliah said as Springtrap smirked. "Good idea," Springtrap said as he looked at the computer. He named the program.
He saved the code and smirked before shutting down the computer. "That's done, but now, I think you need to learn how to use a knife as a defensive and offensive weapon," Springtrap said, walking up behind Deliah and grabbing her free hand. He forced her free hand to grip onto the handle and center it in front of her.
"For defensive purposes, use both hands and keep it in front of you. Keep your breathing steady, and only strike when being struck at. It is imperative to keep your eyes on your assailant and don't budge. If they have a gun, you are outmatched no matter what, and you should back down." Springtrap explained as Deliah tensed up. He let go of her hand as she held the blade as instructed.
"You can relax, Deliah," Springtrap said as Deliah's shoulders loosened. She let go of the knife with her other hand and sighed. "I don't understand why you know all of this. How do you know this much stuff about handling a knife?" Deliah asked as Springtrap sighed. "When you are a robot and don't need sleep, the internet is a beautiful place," Springtrap explained as Deliah smirked. "Ok, I'll believe you. But we have to get going. The walk to school takes an hour." Deliah said as Springtrap nodded. They both walked upstairs. Nick was sitting on the couch, rubbing his eyes, getting ready for work.
"Nick? What are you doing awake?" Springtrap asked as Nick looked at him, then looked back at his shoes. "Someone's silent today. Anyways. Let's go, Deliah. We got a programming class to ace." Springtrap said as Deliah smiled. She got her shoes on and grabbed her backpack that was against the wall adjacent to the front door.
Deliah gave Nick a goodbye hug as the duo of Springtrap and Deliah left the house. As they left, Springtrap smirked. His plan was slowly getting stitched together, and it was glorious.
