The Human Child strode through the King's Pass, slaughtering the Crawlids and Vengeflies that happened to cross their path. They were so idiotic, running into their attacks instead of attempting to dodge. They were just like the monsters, puny and weak… Well, most of the monsters. Some were a bit better than others, they had to admit. That's what made them so satisfying to end though, that feeling of accomplishment.
They continued forwards, until eventually they reached what they thought was the end. There was a large door in the distance, where they were wandering towards. The door was taller than any human had ever been, with multiple cracks slightly glowing… Curiosity drew them forwards, and for that they paid.
The floor beneath them started to rumble, making them panic. As they turned to retreat, the floor gave way, making her lose her footing and fall into the new found hole. Before long, she had landed… Somewhere she didn't know.
"What a graceful faller you are… Wait, Frisk, are those spikes?"
The human child, now known as Frisk, looked to where Chara was looking. Oh yeah, there WERE spikes… And a few narrow platforms. Were they supposed to jump on those?!
Well… It was worth a try.
Before they could change their mind, they ran forwards and leapt to the first platform. They nearly jumped right past it, struggling to balance themself on the edge of the platform-
Above you.
They looked up, to a stone spike falling right behind them. That would have hurt… A simple strike broke away the spike, giving them back the platform, and giving them time to prepare for the next jump. They took a deep breath, closing their eyes momentarily.
They rushed forwards, barely making the first jump, and narrowly avoiding another spike. Running forwards, she made the final jump, narrowly avoiding the last of the falling avoidables, nearly having her skull crushed by the falling object.
They sighed. Simple, but deadly for those who didn't know what to expect… Dust was still spreading from where she had run. How long had it been since anyone walked here? It was hard to determine, though the decaying state of this place made them think that it was a while. Corpses not of their own were rotting on the walls, some bleeding orange goop, likely from some sort of infected wound. They came to the conclusion that they were idiots, for all they had to do to avoid such a painful death was stay indoors, and avoid other bugs. The place stunk of dead meat, and… Something else. Something slightly sweet.
They chose to ignore it for now.
Frisk sighed as they approached the door, stretching their arms behind their back. That path was sure…. Something, all right. It was near collapse, as if it were being pulled apart from the roots. Now, hopefully, there were more things behind this door. Something that would give her a challenge.
Just like the smaller doors, Frisk attacked. They didn't think, they just did. Soon, it started to collapse.
"Frisk, watch out for falling rocks-"
Chara warned as she watched, unable to do anything to help with the door destruction. As much as they wanted to, their incorporeal form stopped them from doing anything. How bored they got, having to follow this genderless fool around… At least they shared a common goal.
Kill everything and anything that got in their way. They didn't need any distractions from their goal. Though… She couldn't help but wonder what Frisk's plan was. They didn't know this place, or what was waiting for them. What were they thinking, approaching the ruins? Didn't they feel the shift in magic? The vanishing of Determination from within their Soul?
Whatever… As if she cared.
The door finally gave way, allowing them access to the rest of Hallownest.
"Frisk…" Chara knew exactly what she was about to do. "Don't you dare."
But it was too late. Frisk had already jumped down from the additional cliff, and down into the darkness below. The Ghost gave an exasperated sigh as they unwillingly flew down, following them.
"Idiot"
