Chapter 4- Charlie knows.

Paul just rushed out of the door. I felt that hit deep in my chest. Why does it hurt this much? I still have Seth with me. I am going crazy.

"It is okay Bella he will be back in no time. Maybe we can get your dad settled and figure out what happened back in Forks after you left." Seth whispered in my ear.

I look at my dad and it is the first time I can see the dark circles under his eyes the lost look in his eyes. I did this. I have not been the best daughter. I need to fix this. But how?

"Dad how about we go sit down and we can talk about everything. I will answer any questions you have."

Before I can finish talking, we all hear the warning howl coming from the woods. Jacob ran out the door first.

"Seth, stay here with Bella. Everyone else outside now." Sam rushed out the door with everyone hot on his heels.

Charlie looked between me and Seth and I could see the questions all over his face.

"Is anyone going to explain why I had vampires at my house looking for Bella? Or where all the spirit warriors ran off to?" Charlie asked.

My head whips to him so fast. What did he just say? Oh spirits he knows. How?

"Chief I have to ask how did you find out?" Seth asked slowly.

Charlie looked at him and chuckled.

"Boy do you think I can be oblivious to what's around me and plain as day? I am the Chief for a reason. Now can one of you please explain." Charlie is looking between and Seth.

"Paul let out a help call. It means more likely leeches have either crossed the treaty line or are trying to. How long have you known?" That question seemed to irking us both.

I look up at my dad and just see him smile and look at me.

"I have known since Edwin and his family left last September."

I shoot up and just stare at him. He has known for almost a year. He has not said a thing. He knew I was about to marry a vampire. He knew about the wolves. He kept it to himself.

"What?! How did you not say anything? All this time you knew what was going to happen tomorrow and you did not try to stop me?" I was being irrational I knew I was but how could any father be okay with this.

Charlie starts shaking his head.

"Bella, I have known but the thing is I knew you were not going to go through with it all. I do not know how but I had this feeling you would come to your senses and go to your calling. For the past year I have been thinking long and hard about all the legends that old fart went on and on about. Then when the Cullen's left it all clicked. They were cold, their eyes all matched even with no blood resemblance, they all never changed. Not even the length of their hair changed. Come on did you think I would not connect the dots?"

He made it sound as if it was all common knowledge. Could it have been that easy to find out myself? Does this mean I can stop hiding things from him? Wait….

"Dad, did you say the Cullen's came looking for me? Who was looking for me?"

Edward and Alice knew where I was. Rosalie obviously knew. Who could have been at my house?

"Yeah, Jasper and 2 others I have never met came by and asked if you had made it home yet. When I said no you have not, he looked slightly worried. I knew you were getting ready at the Cullen's house for tomorrow so for him to ask if you made it home. Let me tell you I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I got scared that they had killed you or changed you and I would not be able to see you again."

I could tell he was trying to be tough, but I could see the heartbreak all over his face.

"When Billy called and said I needed to get to the reservation as fast as I could I just knew you would be here and safe. The old fart could be stupid for not letting me in on the secrets, but he really did his best to warn me to get you away from them. After I got off the phone with Billy I turned to Jasper and his friends and they all looked relieved as well. That told me. You were alive. Jasper left his number and then he was gone. He wanted me to let you know you can call him at any point, and he will be at your service. Whatever that means."

He was filling in a lot of the blanks and whys and the questions revolving around where Jasper went or if he was even alive. I was oddly relieved to know Jasper was alive. But who was with him?

Out of nowhere I felt a pain in my chest. It was as if I had the air ripped out of my lungs. I looked at Seth and I swear he knew what just happened. His eyes looked at me with a sense of sadness.

"Seth, what happened? What is going on?" I had tears start running down my face.

Charlie looked bewildered at this sudden change. He started rubbing my back but it was not helping.

"I do not know what is going on Bella. I swear I will find out. You two stay in the house with Emily. Do not open the doors. Do not even step near them. EMILY!"

Seth hollered for Emily and she came running down the stairs to the living room. It was as if they had a silent conversation. She looked at me and Charlie and then back at Seth and nodded her head. Seth rushed out the door so fast. I felt as if I was being ripped in two. Both my imprints ran out on me without a word. What could be going on?

I did not notice Emily was in front of me until she grabbed my face in her hands.

"Now you listen here Bella Swan I know you are stronger than this I know it is hard. I feel it with Sam every time he goes out that door. I can not imagine what it feels like doubled but you are strong. Take some deep breathes with me."

She was right I was stronger than this. Why could I not catch my breathe.

"Emily, something is wrong. I think Paul is hurt. It hurts so much."

Before Emily can say anything to me Seth rushes back inside. The look on his face scared me. What could have happened?

"Bella, Paul is alive, but he was hurt. They are on there way with him now. Edward took a cheap shot and injured his left side."

I heard the words come out of his mouth and that was all I remembered before the darkness set in.
