Hades sat on the edge of his bed. His head in his hands, mentally beating himself up. He promised himself that he would not be like his brothers. Although, he was starting to understand them better. It took all his control not to take her back with him. Hades wanted her to come with him, but he wanted it to be willingly. He knew that she would if he asked. However, he did not want to ask. Given the few moments he spent with her, he knew that even if she did not want to go with him, she would say yes.
Hades rose, strode into the bathroom, and turned on the shower. Hopefully, a warm shower could convince his nerves to calm enough for him to sleep. He told himself that he would see her again, though he knew it would never been soon enough. He stripped, stepped into the shower, resting his forehead on the cool tile, and let the hot water flow down his back. After a while, the steady stream of water convinced his muscles to loosen.
Shutting off the water, he dried off, slipped on a clean pair of boxers, and walked back towards his bed. Having gathered his clothes from the floor before he left the bathroom, he set them in his hamper except for his suit shirt. Hades knew it was silly, but it smelled like Kore and he needed any help to relax that he could get. He sighed and flopped backwards on his bed, staring at the ceiling. It felt like his every nerve was on fire. Hades curled on his side and hugged his shirt close inhaling as much of her scent as he could.
It felt like an eternity before either of them was able to fall asleep. Though they hoped they would meet in their dreams.
As fate would have it, neither of them would see each other again for a while. Hades was noticeably wound up. He spent his days locked in his office, no one dared to bother him. While Kore spent her days a little more rebellious, having had a taste of what freedom could mean she would not be sated. The two of them had been trying to slip away, but that was easier said than done.
Hades had grown tired of trying to sneak moments with her, as it seemed Demeter was determined to not let her even breath out of her sight. He knew Demeter was watching him. Demeter did not know anything had happened; he was sure. If she had, he was sure he would have a whole different set of issues to deal with. Hades swallowed his pride and dialed a number he swore he never would. The line rang and rang but there was no answer. He hit dial again. Hades was not going to go down without a fight. As the line continued to ring, he thought he might have to call again. However, to his surprise, she picked up on the last ring.
"Hades." The voice answered. "What do you want?" She did not seem surprised that he was calling.
Hades took a deep breath. "I want to see your daughter." He steeled himself for the storm that was going to come his way.
