Another fight between Whitley, Waylon, and Merrick had made Peepers as well as Oswyn eat dinner inside Peepers's room. Macey had came in through the back door when she got home from work and made sure that both her son and nephew ate and got ready for bed with no interuptions caused by the fighting. As Macey did her best to rock Oswyn without a rocking chair, she looked over at her son who looked upset.

"Sweetie, what's wrong?" Macey asked.

"Mama, why does nobody besides you, my cousins, aunts, Grandpa Waylon, and uncles, like me?" Peepers asked.

Macey stopped rocking Oswyn upon hearing her son's question. "Peepers, that's not true, Rosalind likes you and you two have been best friends since you were babies."

"Yeah but I never see her anymore and it's like she's ignoring me." Peepers said.

"I...Peepers I had no idea, I'm so sorry." Macey apologized.

"It's alright Mama," Peepers accepted his mother's apology. "I...I just wished that I could have a real friend that will just...I don't know Mama, I just wish I had a friend."

Macey moved to hold Oswyn in her left arm and held out her right arm towards her son. "Come here Sweetheart."

Peepers did and Macey now held both her son and her little sister's son in her arms.

"Mama?" Peepers spoke up once Oswyn had fallen asleep.

"Yes Peepers, what is it?" Macey asked.

"Can you sing the song that you sang when I was baby?" Peepers asked.

"Which one? I sang a lot of songs to you when you were a baby." Macey responded.

"I...I don't remember Mama, sorry." Peepers apologized for his forgetfulness.

"Well let me think of something." Macey said and once a song came to mind, she decided to hum it instead of singing it.

Deep in the meadow, under the willow

A bed of grass, a soft green pillow

Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes

And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe, here it's warm

Here the daisies guard you from every harm

Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true

Here is the place where I love you.

Peepers felt his eyelids start to get heavier and heavier as he continued to listen to his mother's humming.

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away

A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray

Forget your woes and let your troubles lay

And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.

Here it's safe and here it's warm

And here the daisies guard you from every harm

And here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true

Here is the place where I love you.

Finally, Peepers closed his eyes and fell asleep completely. Macey carried the boys over to Peepers's bed and tucked both of them in. After they were covered with Peepers's blanket, she kissed both of their foreheads.

"Goodnight boys."
