The Office Hiring Mistake
Travis Stoll held his resume papers tight in his arms hoping he'd get hired. He really needed this job because without it, he'd go bankrupt and off he'd go...homeless. The secretary Meg Mc Caffrey told him to sit down in the lobby to wait. As he sat in a comfy armchair in the lobby, he waited and he saw the boss, Katie Gardner, CEO of Gardener Industries, (which was a part of Delphi Inc. run by Mr. D) walk out of her office with a phone beside her ear and several papers on her arms as Travis stood up from his chair and was about to walk towards her as a man came towards her and Katie stopped as she set her phone down.
"Mr D! I- uh.." she stammered
"Gardener, have you gotten a new employee?!" asked the man sternly.
"Oh! Yes! I did!" Katie stammered as she glanced at Travis and motioned to him
"You! Mr-?"
"Stoll" Travis responded
"Yes! You-You're hired!" she said as looked back at Mr. D who nodded and left.
As Katie walked past him Travis caught up to her and was about to tell her thank you, but she was gone.
"Damn it, well at least a new day of work tomorrow..." Travis muttered as he went inside his car and went back to his apartment. Once he came to the building he patted the small cat on the reception desk.
"Hey Travis!" called out Miranda, "How was it?"
"The job interview went well! I got hired!"
"Oh that's great Travis! Now remember to pay me the money!" she called out as Travis chuckled and opened the door to his apartment and set his resume on the coffee table along with the keys of his car and house.
He sat on the couch and sighed happily, excited that he finally got a job.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
"Ugghhh, nOoOoOoOoOo….let me sleep!..." Travis groaned as he pulled on the wire of the alarm clock and he opened his eyes as he rolled over and rubbed his eyes.
"Shit!" he muttered as he sat up quickly and got off the bed as he began to quickly dress and put on a clean new suit.
He rushed off as he ran past the reception in his apartment building, and went into his car and drove off to Gardener Industries and on the way he grabbed some breakfast as he fixed his hair and came into the office panting. He went over to the secretary Meg McCaffrey and cleared his throat.
"Umm, where do I go?" he asked
Meg sighed angrily and pointed right where there was a small sign saying offices as Travis muttered a small "thanks" and went off to the offices, but instead he took a detour and decided to walk towards the CEO's office.
Once he got there he breathed in
"Oookay, you got this Travis...You got this.." as he knocked on the office door and there was a faint, and exhausted "Come in…"
"Thanks for hiring me!" he said excitedly as Katie looked up at him in shock
"You?!..You uh...you came.." she said, not sounding very pleased as her shocked face, turned to shame and then pity on her face
"Actually...I just said that so Mr. D wouldn't get mad at me, he's my boss, head of all of the Industries in town." Katie said awkwardly as she fiddled with her finger
"Oh, so I'm not hired?" asked Travis, pain in his voice, he had really been looking forward to having this job.
"No...I'm sorry." she said apologetically
"No, that's-that's fine…" he stammered
"But if you want the job, I can offer it to you."
"No, that's fine, besides I got offered another job anyways…" he choked as he gulped
"Hey! Um...what's your name?" asked Katie
"Uh, Travis."
"Ah well….nice to meet you Travis. If you truly want the job you can have it…"
"I can?!"
"Yes, if you are so eager to take it."
"Oh, then I'll take it!"
"Good then best if you get to work, Cecil will help you out."
"Thanks Boss."
"Call me Katie."
"Thanks Katie."
A/N: I think I did this wrong, but I tried... Honestly, I was running out of ideas, so if I did this wrong (in which I highly think I did,) sorry. I tried. School is getting onto me and I'm having writer's block, laziness and I want to give up on my current fanfic series, but bear with me.
