Chapter 4

Harry tried to open his eyes, but his head hurt far too much and even the dim light in the room made it worse, so he shut them again quickly.

He saw a shadow approach beyond his eyelids.

'Harry, can you hear me?' the old voice asked.

Dumbledore.

Shit Harry thought, it had happened in Dumbledore's office.

Harry ignored the headmaster, noticing how tired he was, these visions really took it out of him, he fell into a deep sleep.

Harry awoke again to a brightly lit room, one which he was accustomed to waking in, the Hogwarts hospital wing.

Confusion turned to realisation as Harry recalled the events which led him here. He was in Dumbledore's office after trying to leave the castle and Voldemort had called on him again.

But that must mean… Dumbledore saw what happened Harry thought.

This was not good, Harry needed to get out of the castle as soon as possible before he was questioned, he would never be able to escape if they knew his reasons for leaving.

He quickly scanned the hospital wing; the room was empty besides himself, so Harry got to his feet quietly. He had only taken two steps when the office door opened and Madam Pomfrey.

'Mr Potter get back in that bed instantly or I will have to charm to you stick to it' to most this would seem an empty threat, but Harry knew Madam Pomfrey too well, so he sighed and dropped back into his hospital bed.

'Right.. lets get a look at you' Madam Pomfrey said, moving towards Harry with a tray of instruments.

Harry had been through this examination many times through all of his quidditch injuries, it was just a basic check-up.

'okay Harry, can you look straight at my finger please' Harry did as she asked, but Madame Pomfrey didn't seem too pleased with the results of her tests as she tutted at whatever was apparently wrong with Harry.

'It appears you have a concussion Mr Potter. You'll be here for at least a few days while I monitor your symptoms, please let me know if you feel any confusion or have blurred vision'

'urghhh' Harry complained

'It's for your own good Mr Potter. Now… the headmaster will be here shortly, so please remain in your bed until he gets here'

'fine' Harry muttered.

It was nearly half an hour later when the door to the infirmary opened and in walked Professor Dumbledore.

'Good Morning Harry, how are you feeling?'

'Fine Sir, I just want to go back to my dormitory'.

'Ah, unfortunately you need to remain here so Madam Pomfrey can keep an eye on you, you gave us all quite a scare'

Harry remained silent, gazing out one of the far windows.

Dumbledore sighed then moved to sit in a chair besides Harry's bed.

'please talk to me Harry… What happened last night?'

'nothing Sir just a bad headache'

'please look at me Harry'

Harry shifted his gaze to look at Dumbledore, and once again those eyes bore into him, there was also a sadness which Harry didn't recognise.

'I made a promise to you last night Harry… No more secrets… it works both ways'

Harry desperately tried to think what he should do…maybe Dumbledore could help him?

'I just had a vision Sir'

'mmhmm and what was it about?'

'Voldemort… he… he..'

Dumbledore didn't push him, he just looked at Harry expectantly waiting for him to finish his explanation.

No… Harry remembered… He COULD NOT trust Albus Dumbledore. He had let him down too many times before. He could figure out this mess by himself.

'It was just… a vision… I don't really remember anything usually'.

Dumbledore looked at him sceptically, Harry could tell that the man did not believe him, but he couldn't bring himself to care.

'Okay Harry, why don't you get some more rest' Dumbledore said, getting to his feet 'You are excused from your classes while you remain in the hospital wing, I will ask Miss Granger to bring you your notes and homework, so you do not fall behind'.

'O…Okay thank you professor' Harry couldn't believe the headmaster had let this go so easily.

Once he was alone once more, Harry started planning out his next moves.
