"Ugh, Kuroo, why did you have to drag me out so early. Or at all?" complained about Kenma to his best friend as he hissed when he felt the sun shining on him.
"Because, this is a team building exercise. And you are part of said team Kenma." answered Kuroo, the asshole having the gall to smirk at him when he hissed like a cat when he felt the sun's rays shine brighter again.
"I never agreed to this." Kenma argued, mouth morphing into a pout, wishing he had his game console on him so he could at least have some fun whilst getting tortured.
And it was torture. It was torture having to get up at 7 in the goddamn morning, on the day where there where no club activities, and be forced by his overly tall and strong best friend to walk to school to have a 'fun day out' with the rest of the team.
So far not only has he thought about death every 6 minutes but he has also thought about destroying his teammates bloodlines and destroying whoever invented the sun.
"Hey, isn't that Karasuno's setter?" asked Inuoka, eyes squinting as he pointed at something in the distance.
Kenma could have cared less about the setter but if raven was here then that meant that Shoyo might be here and he could maybe convince the younger into letting him use his phone to play games. After all, his phone had been confiscated by Kuroo and the rest of the team, yes even Lev, had been smart enough not to give him their phone. Damn Kuroo.
"Yeah it is. And for some reason shrimpy isn't with him." said Yaku, surprisement clear in his voice.
"Ya know, Yaku, you aren't much taller." None of them even batted an eyelash when the kick landed on the half-Russian.
"Now, I wonder what the baby crow is doing here without his partner." mused Kuroo in that creepy way of his that made Kenma know he was going to get dragged into whatever Kuroo was planning on doing.
"I wonder if Tanaka or Nishinoya are here! Maybe they're even here with their managers!" Tora was practically drooling at the thought and Kenma resisted the extremely tempting urge to roll his eyes at his friend.
"Well why don't we go say hi. Maybe ask him if he's lost." suggested Kai, always the more considerate person here. Too bad his consideration was going against what Kenma wanted. He wanted to stay as far away from the setter as possible.
"I do-" Kenma began but was cut off by Lev.
"Hey is that a kid with him?" his voice full of disbelief as he stated at the setter from afar.
Finally, Kenma looked up from the ground and to his utter surprise it was Kageyama. Except he was in a pair of shorts that made his legs look like they were going for miles and a simple tee. He had some white trainers on and he seemed to be saying something to a kid who had a smirk that strangely resembled Kuroo's.
"And is that a girl with him?" added Tora, the disbelief increasing. "I thought Tanaka and Nishinoya had said the kid could barely talk to other people, let alone score a girl!"
"That's mean." said Shibayama quietly and Fukanaga just patted him on the shoulder gently.
"Karasuno setter." said Fukanaga as he stared at the raven before a shy smile formed on his face. "Pretty. Very pretty." he admitted, a blush appearing on his cheek.
"I can see it." agreed Yaku and Kenma swore he saw a flash of jealousy on Lev's face but it went as soon as it arrived. Not like he cared anyways.
"Anyways. Let's go and introduce this country bumpkin crow and his new girl. And little brother." added Kuroo as an afterthought.
Before Kenma could say no he was dragged by Kuroo along with the rest of the team to grow and greet the raven.
"...and in all honesty with the family legs I don't know why you've never tried to wear shorts like this Tobi." complained the girl to Kageyama and everyone shared a surprised look.
"So she's a family member?" asked Tora.
"Yeah, no shit." muttered Yaku.
"I don't know, Miwa." and Nekoma were surprised to hear the insecurity in the setters voice. "I still think I look utterly ridiculous in these."
"Obviously, someone is blind." muttered Lev as he stared incredulously at the unsuspecting raven. Once again Kenma swore he could see Yaku eying Lev's legs but he ignored it for his own sake.
"Mama, I thought setters were supposed to be observant. I don't see much observation here." said the little kid that was with them, a mischievous smile on his face as he stared up at the scary teen.
Kenma sucked in a breath, thinking that the kid was either really brave or really stupid to say something like that to the guy who only seemed capable of glaring and scowling, but he was surprised, once again, when all the raven did was roll his eyes good-naturedly at the child.
"Careful, Akito." warned Kageyama
"Or else what?" The taunting came with hesitation that the setter seems to have picked up on because he bent down and ruffled the kids hair.
"Or else I'm letting Auntie Miwa do whatever she pleases with your hair." Immediately, the girl supposedly called Miwa adopted a crazy look of glee whilst the kid looked absolutely terrified and he once again shocked Nekoma when he threw himself at Kageyama.
"Mama, no!"
"That is rude!"
Just then Kuroo decided to break into the family atmosphere by being his loud ass self.
"Well, look what we have here. A little country crow." crooned Kuroo and he saw Kageyama tense up.
"Kuroo-san." answered Kageyama, standing up and picking up the child along with him. "How are you?"
"Good, good. Who's the adorable cutie with you?"
"This is Akito. My son." introduced Kageyama.
"Huh!?"
"What?" Why the hell was he so confused with their surprise? Anyone with half a brain cell would be confused as to why a 15 year old had a child.
"A normal person doesn't have a child at 15 years old, Kageyama." answered Yaku, with a 'duh' voice.
"Well mama does, so suck it up." snapped the kid, shooting a glare at the libero.
"Akito. Be nice to strangers ." scolded Kageyama and all the kid did was harrumph.
"And who's the babe with you?" asked Tora, basically drooling. All of Nekoma stepped back when they saw fire practically enveloping the woman.
"Gay as fuck and would punch without a warning."
The awkwardness that filed after that was one of the many reasons why Kenma never tried to socialise. Until Kageyama filled it up.
"Poor mom and dad. Two children who are never going to pass on the family name." he sighed sarcastically and Miwa snorted at him. Akito gave a small giggle whilst the rest of the Nekoma laughed awkwardly along.
"Where's Shoyo?" everyone looked at Kenma in surprise, shocked to see the quiet setter actually talk to other people, especially Kageyama.
"Oh, I'm the only one here." replied Kageyama and he seems to be looking away from Kenma.
"Then why are you here?" he felt Kuroo softly elbowing his side for his rudeness but it was a genuine question.
"Oh, I came to visit Miwa actually. The coaches allowed me to have a couple of days off." answered Kageyama.
"And it's a good thing too. You looked absolutely terrible when I saw you." answered Miwa, observing her nails instead of the offended look of her brother.
"Auntie Miwa is right, mama. You looked awful." agreed Akito and all Kageyama did was blow a raspberry on his cheek, causing the kid to let out a shriek of laughter.
"Shut it, brat." grinned the setter. The brunette giggled and snuggled to his mother's side more.
"I was actually just wondering, Kageyama, if you wanted to go visit some of the restaurants here in Tokyo. You and I could go on a special day out just the two of us."
Kenma rolled his eyes at his best friend's terrible attempts at flirting.
"Oh, umm, I already have Miwa with me." answered Kageyama, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly whilst Miwa slapped her for head and the kid glared and scowled at Kuroo.
"Then maybe one day you can show me a couple of restaurants in Miyagi." Kuroo was determined to get that date; it seemed, if his persistence was anything to go by.
"I think Tsukishima is more obliged to do that considering he knows you better. And I'm terrible with direction anyway." replied Kageyama and Akito stuck his tongue out.
"Well why don't you make a meal." dn the persistence was admirable
"Well, actually Tobi, I need to go." cut in Miwa before Kuroo could reply. "Work is calling to me again. I'm sure your friends can show you around." she tugged the younger boy down and pressed a kiss on his cheek before doing the same thing to Akito.
"Oh." and the disappointment in his voice made Kenma feel something other than fear towards the boy. "Yeah, that's okay."
"Can you come visit us next week?" whined Akito, looking up at aunt with puppy eyes.
"I'll see what I can do. Maybe if I appealed to them and said I want to visit my baby brother and his son they'll let me." joked Miwa before kissing the two again and taking her leave. She barely even spared a glance at Nekoma.
"Your sister seems nice." said Shibayama, twiddling his thumbs nervously.
"Thanks." replied Kageyama, flashing a smile at the libero.
Kenma felt the air escape him when he saw the smile. So bright and so beautiful, a complete change from the scowl he had on at the practice match. His eyes were closed and you could see the dimples on his cheeks.
"Kageyama." said Kenma and the younger boy looked down looking tense "You're pretty." and sure some might call him a sadist but he enjoyed the blush that enveloped the raven.
What he did not enjoy was the scowl directed at him by the kid and the smirk that Kuroo sent him. Nor the challenging looks from Fukanaga and Inuoka.
"Th-thank you, Kozume-san." he replied shyly, looking away from everyone else.
"Anyway!" his son yawned loudly. "What else is there to do in Tokyo besides shop?" and he seemed to be looking challengingly at everyone.
"We-well there's this nice park that we can go to. And there's a bunch of attractions and cafes and stuff here as well" offered Inuoka, the middle blocker smiling shyly at the other first year when he directed his eyes at him. "Why don't we go there?"
"Oh that'll be nice." replied Kageyama as he tried to set down Akito but the younger boy seemed adamant at being held. Eventually, he gave up and tightened his hold on his son and kept him in his arms. "Lead the way!"
The team had acted like utter idiots in front of Kageyama. Kuroo had tried to flirt with him using chemistry puns but all he received was a confused head tilt and a glare respectively from Kageyama and Akito.
Fukanaga seems to have gone for the more subtle route and tended to tell the setter jokes. It was obvious that the setter did not understand but he still continued to laugh. That seemed enough for Fukanaga to continue and for Kenma to allow him. That laugh was pretty.
Inuoka had tripped over his feet trying to open the door for Kageyama and had almost face planted on the floor , only to be caught by Kageyama. Kenma felt a burning sensation inside of him when he saw Inuoka blush when the setter started fretting at him and felt vindictive pleasure when Akito glared at him and mocked him lightly.
Soon, it was time for kageyama to leave for Miyagi.
The Nekoma team helped him get to his sisters apartment, grab his stuff, and helped him make his way to the train station.
Something demented inside of Kenma possessed him and he ended up burrying his head in the others chest and mumbling fairwells.
"Good luck kageyama. You make an amazing mother." he ignored the piercing gaze of everyone else and tightened his hold on the setter whnr he felt him pat him on his head.
"Thank you Kozume-san. That's very much appreciated." Kageyama flashed him a smile. Not as bright or as large as the ones he gave to Akito or his sister, but this was still bright in its own way.
"Anytime. If you want, I can give you my number so I can give you more setter tactics." he ignored the incredulous stares he received from the team and focused his attention on Tobio.
"I-if you're sure." Tobio stuttered.
"Of course. And call me Kenma." the two exchanged numbers.
"And call me Tobio if you like." shyly returned Kageyama.
Just as Kenma was about to cut off, a yawn came from down below.
"Mama. Can we go on the train already. I feel tired and yeah…" when Akito finally looked up his eyes were sparkling with tears and Tobio immediately began to fret.
"Of course baby." Tobio reassured the boy, picking him up with one arm and carrying their luggage with the other. "Well, thank you for the tour of Tokyo. I hope to see you guys soon again." he bowed his head before turning around to board the train.
When he had turned around that had given them a full face of Akito who had stuck his tongue out and gave them the middle finger.
Out of utter shock they all just stood there, mouth agape as Tobio naively cooed at the brat, ignoring the silence from Nekoma.
Whnr the train finally disappeared, everyone turned to Kenma, eyes shining.
"Now, kenken." said Kuroo, smirk etched into his face and Kenma felt his migraine from earlier come back again.
What he didn't fail to notice, however, was that the migraine he had held previously disappear because of one Kageyama Tobio.
