Rewrite of My Original Story Gabrielle Dubrinsky. This is a Vampire Diaries Story with my own Character. My Story centers around Gabrielle Dubrinsky who suddenly loses her parents and she must survive in the world without them. Along the way she finds out that she belongs to a family of Powerful Mages and that there are those who wants that power on their side.

4. Night Of The Comet

Night Of The Comet

[Woods]

[A Man and A Woman are camping in the forest. Fog descends around the tent. They are inside their tent just making out when The Woman heard something like thunder.]

''Hey. Did you hear that? says Woman

''Hear what? says Man

''I heard Thunder says Woman

''there's no thunder says Man

''Are you sure? Because if it rains. then we won't be able to see the comet. says Woman

''it's not gonna rain. Listen, I...got you a little something. It's back in the car. Don't you move. says Man

''[He unzips the opening of the tent and leaves.] ''Stay dry. says Woman

''It's not gonna rain. says Man

[A Wind sound is heard then a Dripping noise pounds on the tent after the man leaves. The woman smiles triumphantly.]

''I knew it! I told you it was gonna rain! says Woman

[She doesn't see him anywhere then she turns around towards the sound of the dripping noise that was coming from the trees where her boyfriend is up in a tree. His blood dripping on the tent. She runs to the car.]

''Open! No! Please says Woman

[She is desperately tugging on the car door handle when she hears the car beep as the doors unlock. The woman looks around nervously. Someone drops from the trees and kills her.]

[Mystic Falls High School]

[Gabrielle is silently listening to Mr. Tanner lecture in class He was looking at everyone as he speaks seeing Elena and Stefan staring at each other.]

''Originally discovered nearly 5 centuries ago, it hasn't been over Mystic Falls in over 145 years. Now, the comet will be its brightest right after dusk during tomorrow's celebration. Are we bothering you, Mr. Salvatore? Ms. Gilbert? says Tanner

[Elena shakes her head as well as Stefan. Tanner nods at them turns back to the lecture when Elena turns back to Stefan smiling. Gabrielle shakes her head laughing to herself at their behavior.]

[School Hallway]

[Gabrielle was walking to her next class looking through her bag for her books when she hears her name called. She turns to see Bonnie and Caroline.]

''Hey, Gabrielle there you are...I was looking for you to tell you I found out something from my Grams. says Bonnie

''What is wrong? Says Gabrielle

''It's nothing really remember the other day when we both got those same feelings when we touched hands? says Bonnie

''Yeah it was a shock really says Gabrielle

''I'm confused. Are you Psychic or Clairvoyant? says Caroline

''Technically, Grams says I'm witch. My ancestors were these really cool Salem witch chicks or something. Grams tried to explain it all, but she was looped on the liquor so I kind of tuned out. Crazy family, yes. Witch? I don't think so says Bonnie

''Who knows? [She stares at Bonnie who stops to listen] ''There are somethings we don't know about ourselves or what could our families be hiding from us because they are trying to protect us. She could be telling you the truth you had those visions the other day with Elena...it won't hurt to listen to your grams when it comes to what you are dealing with. says Gabrielle

''Okay...I get it but what about you? says Bonnie

''What do you mean? says Gabrielle

''Could you be a witch too? it Would explain all the weird emotions you are feeling and you have also been getting visions says Bonnie

''I don't know...[She looks around at other people around them to make sure that nobody overhears.] ''I've had these strange things happen in my life I can't explain...It is one of the reasons why I avoid crowds and gatherings says Gabrielle

''Because you may be sensitive to others pain and feelings. Could you be something else? says Caroline

''I don't know...[They hear the bell for the next class ring. She sighs] ''We better get to class says Gabrielle

''B-but Gabrielle says Bonnie

[Bonnie watches as Gabrielle leaves avoiding talking about her life. That maybe asking her Grams for help with Gabrielle's problems.]

[History Class]

[Jenna talks to Mr. Tanner in the History classroom.]

''As Jeremy's teacher, I'm concerned. All right? it's the third day of school and he's skipped six of his classes says Tanner

''Mr. Tanner, are you aware that Jeremy and Elena's parents died? says Jenna

''Four Mouths ago, a great loss. Car Accident. Wickery Bridge, if I remember correctly. And you're related to the family how? The, uh, mother's kid sister? says Tanner

''Younger sister says Jenna

''Right says Tanner

''Yes. Six classes? Are you sure? I mean, that's kind of hard to do says Jenna

''Not when you're on drugs. it's his attempt at coping, Ms. Sommers. And the signs are there. He's moody, withdrawn, argumentative, hungover. Are there any other relatives in the picture? says Tanner

''I'm their sole guardian. says Jenna

''Uh-huh. Could there be? says Tanner

''What are you suggesting, exactly? says Jenna

''It's an impossible job, isn't it, raising two teens? says Mr. Tanner

''it's been touch, but, no, it's not says Jenna

''Wrong answer. it is an extremely impossible job and anything less and you're not doing it properly says Mr. Tanner

[Mystic Grill]

[Gabrielle is sitting outside doing her homework and eating dinner remembering earlier about the conversation when Bonnie was telling her about what her grams was telling her about her strange gifts that they may make her a witch and that Bonnie was asking maybe she was one too. She shakes her head when she opens her hand where a napkin is burning Someone gasps as she turns to see the three girls sitting at the table near hers. Bonnie, Caroline and Elena were shocked. Gabrielle rolls the paper into a ball and goes to throw it away. Elena stands up taking Gabrielle's hand in hers.]

''Wait don't run away. says Elena

''I need to go home...something is wrong with me says Gabrielle

''Yeah we just saw you make a piece of paper burn in your hands literally says Caroline

''Caroline...[Bonnie sighs then looks at Gabrielle] ''Maybe I should tell my Grams and maybe she can help find out what's going on with you and this strange magic you are doing come on sit with us. says Bonnie

''Okay says Gabrielle

[She takes her chair and pulls it over to their table feeling a little better knowing that Bonnie and her grams will help her find out more about what she is.]

''Well, I was talking to Grams, and she said the comet is a sign of impending doom. The Last time it passed over Mystic Falls, there was lots of death. So much blood and carnage, it created a bed of paranormal activity. says Bonnie

''Yeah, and then you poured Grams another shot and she told you about the aliens. So then what says Caroline

''So then nothing says Elena

''You and Stefan talked all night? There was no sloppy first kiss or touchy feely of any kind? says Caroline

''Nope. We didn't go there. says Elena

''Not even a handshake? I mean, Elena, we are your friends. Ok? You are supposed to share the smut. says Caroline

''We just talked for hours says Elena

''Ok, what is with the blockage? Just jump his bones already! Ok, it's easy. Boy likes girl, girl likes boy, sex! says Caroline

''Profound says Elena

''it isn't that easy you can't just automatically jump a guy they would suspect you are a slut or something says Gabrielle

''Yeah but if he likes you and you like him like I said sex says Caroline

''Okay...says Gabrielle

'[Elena gets up gathering her stuff]

''Where are you going? says Bonnie

''Caroline's right. it is easy. If I sit long enough, I'll end up talking myself out of it instead of doing what I started the day saying what I was going to do says Elena

[She smiles then leaves. Bonnie shakes her head then looks at Gabrielle.]

''Come on I'm going to take you to see my grams and maybe you can tell her all the things that you have been feeling and maybe she can help figure out if you are a witch or something else says Bonnie

''Okay...But are you sure? says Gabrielle

''Yeah come on. says Bonnie

[Gabrielle grabs her stuff and waves to Caroline as she too leaves.]

[Gilbert Residence]

[Jenna is placing food on the counter when she sees Jeremy enter the kitchen.]

''I picked up dinner. Tacos. I had an urge for Guacamole says Jenna

''No, I'm good, thanks. says Jeremy

''Eat anyway. It's a ruse. I want to talk [Jeremy rolls his eyes and tries to leave] ''Hey, You! Come. Sit [Jeremy sits down] Back in school, freshman year, I could eat my weight in nachos, with extra cheese. It was my munchie food whenever I got stoned. says Jenna

''You get high? says Jeremy

[He smiles as he listens to Jenna] ''Did. Past tense. But yeah. Loved it. anything to get little distraction from life...reality. And it worked. For a while. Never lasts, though. hey, I'm not saying I wouldn't love to rail back and kick it, but with a thesis looming and a waistline expanding...says Jenna

[She turns to see Jeremy leave through the back door and she sighs disappointed that she couldn't talk to Jeremy.]

[Sheila's House[

[Sheila brings in a tray full of snacks and tea Bonnie smiles at her looking at Gabrielle who was looking a little nervous as Sheila then sits down in a chair in front of them.]

''So Bonnie what's going on? says Sheila

''Well I know all that stuff about me being a Witch is a little strange but I am wondering if you can help my new friend with a problem of her own says Bonnie

''What's your name Honey? says Sheila

''Gabrielle Dubrinsky Miss Sheila says Gabrielle

''Call me Sheila...Dubrinsky Huh...[She pulls her chair closer so that she can take a hold of Gabrielle's hand when she closes her eyes and suddenly gasps taking her hand away and then gets up like she couldn't breathe. Gabrielle stunned gets up and tries to help her with Bonnie who looks worried.] ''I've never felt anything like this...Whatever I saw or felt...it's not a Witch says Sheila

''So I'm Not a witch? says Gabrielle

''No...You are something a little stronger but you are just know growing into your magic...I haven't felt this since...[She looks at Gabrielle surprised] ''Your Father...says Sheila

''My dad...did you know my dad...Says Gabrielle

''William Dubrinsky once lived here along with his mother Joyce Dubrinsky...She was a friend of mine before she passed away she was a witch too unlike him and you. After she passed away it was like nothing was ever the same...She grew such a beautiful garden and all the fruits and vegetables were fresh, herbs too. She also loved to cook...You have her eyes says Sheila

''Oh...I do? says Gabrielle

''Yes such beautiful violet eyes. We also shared a secret about our families to the other...I told her I was a Witch and then she told me about her Family heritage and what it means to be a Dubrinsky...You my dear are a Mage...says Sheila

''A Mage? says Gabrielle

''A Practitioner of magic, the ability to attain objectives or acquire knowledge or wisdom using supernatural means. You can even use element magic Fire, Water, Earth, light, darkness. Your Grandmother told me that the Mage ran strong in the male side of the family never once has there ever been a female Mage...Until now...You are the first to have Mage powers. says Sheila

''So Strange...I never knew about any of this...Father and Grandmother kept so many secrets...I need to head home...says Gabrielle

[She suddenly gets frustrated and upset as she gathers her book bag and gets ready to leave. Sheila seeing how upset Gabrielle was getting quickly sighs then takes her by the arms and hugs her. Gabrielle sighs as a tear comes from her eyes.] ''I am sorry Gabrielle I know how much all this must hurt and confuse you but they never meant to keep it from you forever...Your father was going to tell you all of this when you turned 18 years old but I guess he died before he could which means...All the knowledge that will help you will be learning from Your great Great Grandfather's old Magic book that your father had...[She turns to look through her book shelf and pulls out a small journal which was a little worn down. She gives it to her.] ''Inside this journal will have all the information you need to find it and learn everything you need to know about yourself and Your Heritage...[She smiles as she steps back] ''I hope you find what you are looking for and that it will help you...says Sheila

''Is this my grandmother's journal? says Gabrielle

''Yes It should have everything in it that will help you look into all you need to know about your family says Sheila

''[She looks at the small worn down book and hugs Sheila] ''Thank you so much Sheila...says Gabrielle

''Okay when ever you need to talk or just want to hang out with Bonnie to learn some magic you are free to come over anytime you want says Sheila

''Thank you so much says Gabrielle

[Bonnie smiles as Gabrielle takes the small Journal and then leaves.]

[Gilbert House]

[Elena and Jenna are in the kitchen preparing the Mexican Food that Jenna got earlier. Elena was telling her everything that happened with Stefan and Meeting Damon.]

''He's on the rebound and has raging family issues. says Elena

''Well, at least it's an ex-girlfriend. Wait till you date a guy with mommy issues or cheating issues. Or amphetamine issues. [Jeremy enters the house trying to sneak up the stairs.] ''Jeremy?[She walks into the living room watching as he goes up the stairs] '' Jeremy, where were you? says Jenna

''More stoner stories? Look, Jenna, I get it, you were cool. and so that's...that's cool says Jeremy

[He smiles sarcastically and continues going up the stairs.]

''Oh, no, no, No! says Jenna

[Jenna throws an apple at Jeremy] ''Ow! Why? Why...why did you do that? says Jeremy

''Listen up! Quit ditching class or you're grounded. No discussion says Jenna

''Parental authority, I like it. Sleep tight says Jeremy

[Mystic Falls Town Square]

[Caroline is wondering around the town with a pack of Pamphlets when she sees Gabrielle sitting on one of the benches drawing in a sketch pad. She smiles walking up to her.]

''Gabrielle there you are I've been looking everywhere for you says Caroline

''Hey Caroline! [Caroline drops a pack of Pamphlets] ''Um...what's this? says Gabrielle

''Since we are going to be friends you can help me out a little on the cheerleading squad...Can you help me pass these Pamphlets of the Comet Festival tonight says Caroline

''But I'm not joining the Cheerleading Squad...Why me? says Gabrielle

''Because I like you and hoping we can be friends and help each other out...Pretty please says Caroline

''[Caroline looks at her with hope in her eyes and knew she couldn't resist and she puts her sketch book away into her bag putting it around her shoulder taking the Pamphlets.]

''Okay...So all I have to do is hand them out? says Gabrielle

''Yes...I knew I can count on you...Just go around town square and give people one sheet each thank you so much Gabrielle says Caroline

''Your Welcome says Gabrielle

[She watches Caroline walk away as she starts handing people their Pamphlets.]

''Would you like a Program? says Gabrielle

[She gives one to a couple as she sees Elena and Bonnie She was confused when she walks over to them]

''So you got roped into Caroline's wishes too says Bonnie

''Yeah...I'm not on the Cheerleading Squad so I don't understand why she would want me to do this? says Gabrielle

''I guess she likes you and want you to be apart of our friendship group. Says Elena

''Okay says Gabrielle

''Tonight, night of the comet! Would you like a Program? [She turns to Elena] '' He didn't call, huh? says Bonnie

''Or text. But I realized we never even exchanged that stuff. We've never gotten to the texting part. says Elena

''That's an important milestone in any relationship says Bonnie

''Isn't it? The timing is wrong, anyway says Elena

''When is it ever right? says Gabrielle

''I'm not ready, Gabrielle says Elena

''Who is? says Gabrielle

''At least I put myself out there. says Elena

''Is that what you're call it? says Bonnie

''What do you mean? says Elena

''All I'm hearing is reasons why you can't says Bonnie

''Stefan seems to be a nice guy and those hardly come around these days, and after everything that happened in your life Elena this would be a good chance to finally find happiness and hold on to it as much as you can says Gabrielle

''[She nods smiling at Gabrielle's words] ''Thank you I will try to consider what you said says Elena

[Caroline is looking around at the Party where people and their children enjoy the face painting and balloon stands as well as the small food stands. She sees Damon the guy from the Grill that smiled at her with interest and she started to approach him. When she gets closer, he's gone.]

[Salvatore House]

[Zach is looking through some paper work when he sees a letter from Mrs. Lockwood remembering what it was about asking about possible interest in letting Williams Dubrinsky's daughter move into the Salvatore House until after her 18th birthday when she gets The Dubrinsky's Property. He sighs wondering if he should let Stefan know as he enters the room.]

''What is Damon doing here? Why did he come home? says Zach

''Cause I came home. He wants to make my life miserable. That's how he enjoys his. says Stefan

''We'll he's putting us all at risk. This girl in the hospital could talk says Zach

''She won't. I took care of her. says Stefan

''You're sure? says Zach

''I'm not sure, Zach. I don't know how well it worked. I'm not as strong as Damon says Stefan

''So what happens if it doesn't work? says Zach

''I don't know. I'll deal with it says Stefan

''Is she worth it? Uncle Stefan, This girl you came back for? says Zach

[Stefan looks at Zach in warning for him to drop the subject and Zach sighs dropping the information in front of Stefan who was curious.]

''What's this? says Stefan

''It's all the information that Mrs. Lockwood got from Dubrinsky's Family death...She gave me custody of William Dubrinsky's daughter until she turns 18 years old. Since she has no living relatives Ms. Gabrielle will be living with us...says Zach

''Why give custody to you? How do you know Gabrielle's father? says Stefan

''William was my best friend growing up when we were kids we would hangout and even went to college together where he met Lily Gabrielle's mother I guess he trusted me enough to take care of his daughter...I don't know about now since Damon is know living here too says Zach

[Stefan looks at the stack of information on Gabrielle seeing a picture of her when she was small with her mom and dad she was smiling and happy. She looked kind of familiar to him but couldn't really place where he has seen her resemblance then looks at Zach coming up with a decision.]

''How about it. She can stay here and I will make sure nothing happens to her while living here. Damon will not go near her I promise you Zach says Stefan

[Zach sighs looking at Stefan wondering if letting Gabrielle live here was a good idea.]

[Mystic Grill]

[Jeremy is hanging around at the Grill when he sees Vicki]

''Hey, Vicki, what are you doing here? says Jeremy

''Fighting with Robert about my schedule. You'd think getting ripped up by a rabid animal would merit an extra sick day says Vicki

''Are you feeling ok? says Jeremy

''I hurt says Vicki

''Well, the doctor gave you something, right? says Jeremy

''The kid stuff. nothing with an ''o'' in it. I think they were on to me says Vicki

[They laugh. Jeremy takes out a bottle of pills gives her two pills] ''Here. knock yourself out, literally says Jeremy

''Thanks, Jer. says Vicki

''So you gonna, uh, watch the comet later? says Jeremy

''I hadn't really thought about it. But I could be talked into it. I'll meet you out there in a few. says Vicki

''[Tyler approaches them.] ''Hey, Vick. How are you feeling? says Tyler

''Like you care says Vicki

[Vicki leaves. Tyler catches Jeremy looking at him in a mocking manner.]

''What are you lookin' at, Gilbert? says Tyler

[Jeremy shakes his head smiling and leaves.]

[Gabrielle is sitting at the bar of the grill seeing that it was too crowded to sit in the dining area. One of the Bartenders come over to her.]

''Hey, what can I get you to drink? says Bartender

''Um I will have just a Vanilla Coke please says Gabrielle

''Not drinking any Alcohol? says Bartender

''No I don't drink ever says Gabrielle

''Well that is good Okay I will get you your soda...says Bartender

''Well that's not fun [Gabrielle turns her head to see Damon sitting beside her smiling and drinking from his Bourbon.] ''Drinking is always fun says Damon

''Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not that kind of person not everybody likes alcohol you know says Gabrielle

''Yeah I know...So how have you been? says Damon

[He takes a sip of his drink then puts his glass down] ''Not much really I am going to watch the comet and then go home...says Gabrielle

''Oh...Why not hangout with me tonight then Gabrielle...we are both without any friends tonight and we can use the chance to be friends says Damon

''I don't know...says Gabrielle

[He smiles when Vicki walks over to him] ''I know you says Vicki

''Well, that's unfortunate says Damon

''Um...I don't...I don't know how, but...your face. says Vicki

[Gabrielle looks at Vicki seeing that there is something about Damon that was truly scaring her and she smiles a little looking at Gabrielle]

''Are you alright? says Gabrielle

''Excuse me. Sorry says Vicki

[She goes into the restroom as Gabrielle follows her in seeing her take some pills.]

''Hey...are you really okay I can take you home if you want? says Gabrielle

''No...I'm good thank you for the help though... says Vicki

[When she looks up into the mirror, Damon is behind her and attacks her...Gabrielle shocked steps between them taking the bite that was meant for Vicki and she cries out...Damon shocked catches her in his arms and then stops Vicki from screaming as he grabs her and takes them both away. Back in the Dining Area. Caroline, Elena, Bonnie, Matt, Tyler were hanging out when Jeremy walks over to them.]

''Hey, has anyone seen Vicki? says Jeremy

''You're her stalker. You tell us says Tyler

''I can't find her says Jeremy

''She probably found somebody else to party with. Sorry, pill pusher, I guess you've been replaced says Tyler

''What's with the Pill pusher? says Elena

''Ask him says Tyler

''You wanna do this right now? says Jeremy

''Are you dealing? says Elena

''She's never gonna go for you? says Tyler

''She already did. Over and over and over again says Jeremy

''Yeah, right. says Tyler

''You slept with Vicki Donovan? I mean, Vicki Donovan slept with you? says Caroline

''There's no way says Tyler

''And I didn't even have to force her into it says Jeremy

[Matt surprised and angry at Tyler looks at him.] ''What the hell is he talking about, Ty? says Matt

''Nothing, man, just ignore him, he's a Punk says Tyler

''I got your Punk says Jeremy

''You know what, how about all of you shut up and help me find my sister says Matt

''We'll check the back. says Bonnie

''I'll check the square says Matt

''I'll come with you says Jeremy

[Elena grabs Jeremy's arm] ''Oh, no, no, no. You are coming with me. So that's your game now, dealing? says Elena

''I'm not dealing says Jeremy

''Look, I'm sick of the tough love speech, Jer. It's clearly having no impact. says Elena

''You and Jenna, between the two of you. Enough already says Jeremy

''We can stop if you want. Send you to a therapist where you'll be forced to deal with it or to rehab where you'll sit in a group and tell some stranger how you let your life fall apart. Or you could talk to me says Elena

''I vote for none of the above says Jeremy

[He leaves shaking his head angry at Elena.]

[Top Of A Building]

[Gabrielle groans when she hears screaming coming from Vicki hissing when pain in her neck hurts and she sits up seeing Damon standing with Vicki at the edge of the roof of the building...She slowly gets up...Damon looks at her.]

''No! no! Says Vicki

''Damon...Let her go! says Gabrielle

''Shh, I'm not gonna hurt her...she just need to stop screaming says Damon

''Maybe if you haven't got her standing at the edge of the roof maybe she will stop screaming...[She touches the bite mark on her neck wincing] ''You...bit me says Gabrielle

''Only because you got in the way when I went to attack Vicki...so it's your fault says Damon

[Gabrielle hears a wind sound and turns around surprised to see Stefan who was just as shocked to see her. He walks over to her pulling her hair away from the bite wound on her neck then looks at Damon angry]

''Damon...let her go says Stefan

[Stefan pulls Gabrielle behind him as he faces his brother]

''Shh, really? Okay says Damon

[Damon pulls Vicki to the edge of the roof where she almost falls backwards...] ''No! says Vicki

''No! Damon...don't hurt her says Gabrielle

''No! says Stefan

[Damon throws Vicki to Stefan who catches her Vicki cries out scared] ''Ugh relax says Damon

''What's happening? says Gabrielle

''[To Gabrielle] ''We are vampires sweetheart...didn't want you finding out so soon but it is what it is [He turns to Vicki] ''What attacked you the other night? says Damon

''I don't know. an Animal says Vicki

''Are you sure about that? Think. Think about it. Think about it really hard. What attacked you? says Damon

''[Vicki shocked looks at Damon] ''A Vampire says Vicki

''Who did this to you? says Damon

''You did says Vicki

[Gabrielle hearing this feels tears fall from her eyes at hearing that there were such things as Vampires and didn't want to believe it.]

''It can't be true...[to Damon] ''You can't be says Gabrielle

''I am afraid so [to Vicki] ''And wrong I didn't attack you it was Stefan says Damon

''Don't says Stefan

''Come here. [Damon grabs Vicki on both sides of her head looking at her in the eyes compelling her] ''Stefan Salvatore did this to you says Damon

''Stefan Salvatore did this to me says Vicki

''He's a vampire, A Vicious, murderous Monster says Damon

''Please, Damon, Please don't do this says Stefan

''If you couldn't fix it before. I don't know what you can do now says Damon

[Damon pulls off Vicki's bandage off and throws her to Stefan.] ''Aah! says Vicki

''No! [Gabrielle goes to stop Stefan but Damon grabs her around the waist holding her back against him as Stefan holds Vicki trying not to let the blood on Vicki's neck tempt him] ''Please Stefan don't hurt her says Gabrielle

''Shh'' [Damon pulls Gabrielle's hair to the other shoulder and kisses her where he bit her before. ] ''Don't interfere hmmm [He licks on the blood on her neck] ''Hmm You really are tasty so delicious says Damon

''Please...says Gabrielle

''[To Stefan] ''Ugh! Your choice of lifestyle has made you weak. A Couple of vampire parlor tricks is nothing compared to the power that you could have, that you now need. But you can change that. Human blood gives you that says Damon

''No! says Vicki

''You have two choices...You can feed and make her forget. Or you can let her run, screaming vampire through the town square. says Damon

''That's what this is about? You want to expose me? says Stefan

''No! I want you to remember who you are! says Damon
