Hello to you dear reader!

Disclaimer: I am a French author and I noticed that my story "Une nouvelle vie à Tokyo" is read by americans. I decided to translate my story into English to make it easier for you to understand. However, I don't have the time or the skills to translate my story into English myself. I decided to use a translation software (DeepL) to help me to do it. Thank you for your understanding.

Here is the 3rd chapter of the story!

A rather transitional chapter, I hope you'll like it all the same. Very good reading, don't hesitate to leave me a review to tell me what you think about it!

Chapter 3: Student Interludes

After having reassured his friend countless times about the man from the konbini, telling him that tattooing had been democratized nowadays, or that his style of dress was the opposite of the Japanese underworld, Tanjiro had finally gone back to his apartment to cook and eat a basic meal and sleep a heavy sleep as the day had been so grueling in stress and adventures.

It was 8:30 am in the megalopolis of Tokyo and it was time for the young brunette with purple reflections to get up. Indeed today they had planned with his friend to visit one or several districts of the capital, according to their desires and their moods. Sunday as for him would be devoted to the rest in view of the return the following day.

After having settled on the stool of the bathroom to take a shower (1), the young man carried out his daily toilet and combed his hair in a summary way since he had decided to put a cap for this day. He dressed with dark blue pants, which highlighted his thin and athletic legs, a white hoodie 3/4 on which 2 onigiri were smiling and black converses: simple and effective, a perfect outfit for a walk. He didn't forget the watch of his late father, one of the last presents he offered him. After having a quick breakfast, he joined Zenitsu in front of his apartment. They checked that they had not forgotten anything on their side and left the residence to go to the nearest bus stop.

The morning passed relatively quickly, the duo had headed first to the famous shrine of Asakusa, where Zenitsu took the opportunity to pray to all the available gods to finally have a girlfriend in his life.

Then, it was then obliged for the young blond man to go in the very famous district of Akihabara, dedicated to electronics and video games. This last one could only resist to the calls of all these figurines and these games thanks to the look full of contempt of the youngest if he bought anything while he could not pay his shopping because of the piece of furniture that he had bought to store the goodies he already has!

"You don't know how much it breaks my heart to have to tell them no Tanjiro... Sighs the blond man as he talks about his many waifu behind their windows.

- You said yourself before you left that you didn't want to spend your grandfather's money more than necessary, right? asked his best friend.

- Yes yes, it's true...But I find it sad to live in the capital when we have lived all our damn life in the country to spend nothing here...

- And why don't you have a baito (2)? Tanjiro proposed with a smile. That way you'll earn your own salary and you'll be able to spend the money as you wish since it comes from you.

- Hmm... After thinking about it, you're probably right, I think this is the only solution. I'll wait until we have our schedule and then I'll look for a job. Are you planning to do one too, by any chance? Zenitsu asked in turn.

- Actually I suggested it to you because I had already thought about it, and I think I'll do what you did: I'll wait for our schedule and then apply. I don't want to burden my family with my personal expenses. There are already a lot of us at home, so if I can put my hand in while continuing my studies, then I'll be happy with that." Concluded the young man with a smile.

After having eaten in a ramen restaurant that the brunette had selected thanks to his fine sense of smell by the delicious odor emanating from the restaurant, the duo had spent the rest of the afternoon wandering from street to street, lingering on places going from the most traditional with the stores adjacent to the temples, to the most zany as the stores of the sign Don Quijote (3).

"I loved our day," Tanjiro exclaimed as he entered the corridor of their residence.

- Same thing! I hope we can afford to do more of these, and better! When we get to know the city better, we'll be able to go to places that interest us even more! You'll leave me in an arcade and you... Well, I'll leave you in the restaurant district. Don't look at me with that doubtful look! You like to cook, and what better way to inspire you than to eat? Oh and I'll put some books and a pen next to you to read and write, then you'll be on top of it.

- I cannot even reply because you are right on all the line, had to admit with the smile the young man with the crimson reflections.

After exchanging a few more words, the friends separated for a while to return to their accommodation. They met again in the middle of the evening to eat the delicious curry that Tanjiro had had time to prepare and ended the evening by watching a horror movie, the underlying challenge was to know which of them would scream first.

The next day was dedicated as planned to a total rest. After a sleep in on both sides, although more important for Zenitsu who got up at 12 o'clock and Tanjiro at 9.30 am, the two companions met as agreed at 4.30 pm to cook for the one and to taste for the other the famous pancakes.

After Zenitsu had left his home, Tanjiro prepared his clothes carefully for the new school year: black cargo pants, topped with an unbleached white sweater with a black heart woven on the chest, and beige sneakers. His little sister Nezuko having dragged him in several tens of stores to watch her because "it was the big brother", he took taste gradually to the fashion and even if he did not buy pieces every four mornings, the choice of his clothes was not any more a chore but a pleasure. His bag having been prepared earlier in the day, all he had to do was take a shower and go to bed. The next day was her first day of classes at Kimetsu.

(1) Japanese bathrooms are different from western ones, in fact the whole room is like a "huge shower tray". I invite you to look on the internet if you are curious :)

(2) Baito are student jobs in Japan, it is common to have one.

(3) It's a famous store, known for having everything and anything, it's notably there that YouTubers and their "wtf objects from Japan" get their supplies
