The next time they meet, Ladybug throws herself into Chat Noir's arms.
"Please, can you forgive me?" she asks. "I messed up and I'm so sorry! I didn't want to unload everything on you." She tells him about the incident with the Miraculous box and how she yelled at her girlfriends.
"I can't do this without you, you're my rock that I depend on for everything. But there's some stuff I can't tell you because it leads to my secret identity. And I want to tell you so badly, but I'm too scared of the consequences, and, ... and ... I'm so afraid you will be disappointed when you finally find out who I am underneath the mask."
He kises her on the top of her head and feels her beginning to relax. "I can tell you right now for a certainty that I am still going to be in love with you no matter who you are. I've waited all this time, so I can wait a little longer for you to tell me your secret. Frankly, I've always been ready to tell you who I am, so any time you want to know that then all you have to do is ask."
She snuggles as close as she can get to him and asks, "So ,can you wait until I'm ready to reveal who I am under the mask?"
"Yeah, I can wait, but it makes me feel bad when you are upset about something and you don't tell me about it. We should know when our partner has a problem or a concern, don't you think? Minus the details of course."
She looks up at him and fixes him with a steady gaze. "Okay, but that's a 2-way street, kitty. No more secrets, except for the big one, okay?"
They cling to each other for a minute or two, then he says, "So, after what you said the other day about romance and boyfriends, I take it you're going to remain unattached for awhile?"
She giggles into his chest, "that was my plan, yes. But if a suitable boyfrien candidate comes along, well I might take a chance." She snuggles closer. "But my standards are pretty high."
"Well, I guess that let's me out then," he announces. "I have to disappear at the oddest times to go fight akumas and such."
"No guts, no glory," she giggles again. "You never know sometimes."
"Well, maybe I should apply for the position."
"Maybe you should."
And with that, my story ends.
This story might not be the way it plays out in the show. Will Adrien spill to Nino that he is Chat Noir? Or tell Marinette instead? Or keep his identity a secret? Maybe instead of a nice ending like mine, Chat gets very upset and raises hell with Ladybug. Maybe what we're seeing is the love square moving in reverse, instead of Chat in love with LB it turns around the other way. And Adrien falls in love with Marinette, the opposite of what it's been up to now. Who knows?
I'd like to think Ladybug and Chat Noir begin a relationship together without telling anybody about it. I suspect her parents are going to find out sooner or later, but that's another story.
