Digital World- Near "Gennai's base

After a good while of deliberating and planning the plan was set and it was time for action. The team was divided into two teams, the distraction team and the extraction team. The lucky team that was designated to deal with most of the battling as the distraction team included Davis, Ken, and Yolie and of course their respective Digimon. The distraction team's goal was simple, distract the bulk of the many...many cannon fodder Digimon that "Gennai" "liberated" and brought with him. Davis and Ken originally volunteered to be the distraction because if things started to go sideways they can bring out Paildramon or if needed Imperialdramon. While during these trying times for everyone, Izzy and Gennai believed that Ken and Davis can still achieve Imperialdramon with minor risk due to their highly adventurous attitude which should give them enough untapped potential for a least a good while later...in theory. Hopefully they wouldn't have to test that theory. After that was decided Yolie decided there was NO WAY she was going to let them go without her and refused to be talked out of it by Ken. The enemy was all out in the open daring the team to move in, a tactic favored by the insane "Gennai". Fortunately most of the cannon fodder were champions and below so it shouldn't be THAT difficult. Gennai also brought in some backup bringing in Jose and Ilya, Gennai's Mexican and Russian counterpart respectively to the distraction team. The extraction team was comprised of T.K., Kari, Izzy, their respective Digimon, and Gennai. The extraction team's job had the most finesse; at its core it seemed relatively simple. All they had to do was find and rescue Maki Himekawa. Two major problems though was the fact that she's been gone for over 5 years and "Gennai" would certainly be near her. This brings out the secondary objective for the extraction team. The capture (or if he couldn't be captured) destruction of "Gennai". Gennai wanted to prioritize this objective more but soon realized Maki's safety was more important. Out of this team, Kari was the most nervous to do her inherit dislike for fighting. However; she's never let her nerves win before and she wasn't going to let them win today. Even without Tai here anymore she would rescue Maki and return home safely. T.K. was looking very determined and ready to handle whatever was coming next. As for Izzy he was focusing on the mission to the point where he wouldn't let himself worry about anything else. He will deal with the aftermath of presumably his final mission with Tentomon in private with his friend during their final moments together. I will see him again one day he told himself before he entered the digital world for his final time and was ready for action ever since.

All the Digimon were already in their champion forms excluding Gatomon who was in her ultimate. Due to the fact that Gatomon spent most of her time as a champion, she was able to transform to ultimate with little difficulty compared to Tentomon and Patamon. Not that she would ever rub it in their faces...though she did tease Patamon about it when they were alone sometimes. As for Gennai he had a two handed sword attached to his back. Jose had a pair of nunchaku and Ilya had a bow staff. When Davis asked Gennai if he'd be okay fighting Gennai just laughed and said while he looks like a human he is (and the others) are something more...something different. He even went as far as to remind Davis that he has fought the likes of Piedmon and even survived (even if he did loose the fight and was force to flee, that was a long time ago and he is so much stronger than he once was.) Besides Gennai is the Guardian of the Digital World now, he couldn't stand by with a mission of this magnitude regardless.

"Everyone ready?" Davis asked his team.

Everyone nodded.

"Vamanos amigos" Jose said and together the distraction team charged the line to make room for the extraction team.

Inside "Gennai's base

BOOM!

The ceiling shook indicating the start of the battle. All according to plan "Gennai" thought to himself. Despite being called a "raging madman" by some; he was also a very thorough tactician, with his mind being "improved" by King Drasil. One could argue he was even better then the original Gennai. So what if the side effect of King Drasil's "tampering" included occasional (or in his case often) madness? It just made his "games" all the more fun." "Gennai" said.

"Oh my dear Maki make sure to smile when our "guests" arrive and make sure you NEVER forget what they did to you. Make sure you never forget who they took from you. Poor Daigo he was still so young and they MURDERED him. Don't let them forget that.

It was a lie of course but it helped further break her when she found out that her past beloved was KILLED from trying save her from the Dark Ocean because the DigiDestined deemed her to be too big of a threat and wanted her kept in the Dark Ocean.

Maki made no reaction to his comment, didn't even SMILE like he told her to and he pouted that he should have worked on her more. She just stared into the hallway with a blank expression with Tapirmon by her side looking to the hallway with the same blank expression. Still the plan was simple, use cannon fodder to distract the non crest bearers as they would get in the way of the main event. The destruction of the remaining crest bearers. The ones without crests could die later, it wouldn't be any fun if they all died today. How will he have fun after the crest bearers are no more? That's why he needed to keep them alive, distracted but alive. He didn't want them to ruin his little "party" so that's why he brought a lot of cannon fodder. Lower level Digimon who's sole purpose was to be beaten and delay them from reaching the main event. As for the main event he had so painstakingly constructed this underground laboratory that was big enough to hold a room big enough for the fight that he wanted. It was just a matter of getting the crest bearers to this room which shouldn't be hard. After they got into this room all Maki would have to do is preform the dark evolution that "Gennai" "instructed" her to do and press the crest users to their breaking point and poof no more crests. His master would be pleased and his new "pet" would be even more pleased after he delivered the girl to it while the blonde watched in horror. Ah that would be a great time for everyone he thought maliciously. Whether or not Maki survived this was of little consequence to him.

Just then he heard one of the alarms go off signifying that his prey was close. "Maki, I'm going to go greet our guests. Wait here" he said.

The plan was working so far T.K. noted...maybe too well though. Better keep his guard up just in case. This lab was defiantly designed with Digimon in mind as it was very spacious, so spacious that he realized that a Digimon even as big as MegaKabuterimon could move about freely. Gennai was on point and searching for "Gennai" and trying to locate where he stashed Maki when...WHAT THE DEVIL? There he was "Gennai", was he smiling at them? Was he WAVING at them? Oh no, this guy is so cocky he's going down T.K. thought. Gennai immediately turned to face the evil man with his face and took after with the DigiDestineds followed suit. They were gaining on him...no he was letting them follow him, but why? T.K. thought. Then there it was a massive lift, Izzy was right; there was an underground area to this place. How was "Gennai" able to build this in such a short amount of time? He chalked up the creation of this building by some type of dark magic T.K. didn't understand. As "Gennai" approached the lift, he disappeared.

"He's Gone?!" Izzy stated

"No" Gennai stated "he just teleported beneath this lift. I can feel him waiting for us. Once more there's something else I can detect down there. I can't fully grasp it but whatever it is it's evil, and mad...very very mad. We must prepare for a battle once we're down there."

T.K. and Izzy nodded in agreement and Kari hesitated for a moment but followed suit.

"Leave this to us" Kabuterimon stated.

"I will protect you Kari" Angewomon stated.

"Yeah T.K and I have faced worse odds before" Angemon said. You ready Kabuterimon and Angewomon?

Both Digimon nodded in agreement.

Gennai saw a little girl in his mind, she was so happy and full of life. He knew he would save her no matter what it took. Sure she did grow a little sower when she grew up, but that was to be expected by what she went through but to him she'll always be that little girl who was so cheery and strove to be the example to make him a better person...or whatever he was. "Well then lets spring the trap Gennai said and we'll save Maki" Gennai said and hit the lift.

The lift lead to an even bigger room then the lab. It was well lit, made of a type of reinforced concrete and gave the impression that it was made for one thing, a battle between Digimon. In the room there was a woman, a man, and...is that a DIGIMON?

Kari gasped..."That's Maki" "MAKI MAKI MAKI" She screamed at her. "HEY WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?" She screamed at the "man" who was "Gennai."

Gennai made a hiss of pure anger and saw "Gennai" whisper something in Maki's ear.

Maki twitched and Gennai lost his temper and screamed "GET AWAY FROM HER!" to "Gennai" and charged at "Gennai" with lighting speed sword drawn out.

Just then the Digimon released a wave of darkness which caused caused Gennai to jump back and the Digimon to jump in front of their partners.

"What's with that thing?" Izzy asked.

"I'm not sure, but a since a great evil from it" Angewomon said.

"Everyone be careful" Angemon said.

"You...you...killed..."Maki finally spoke although her voice was broken and disoriented which caused Kari to cover her mouth in horror.

"YOU KILLED DAIGO, I...I WON'T...FORGIVE...YOU...DIE!"

What are you talking about?! T.K. yelled back "we didn't kill anyone."

"LIAR...STOP...ST-LYING" Maki squeezed out.

"How could you?" Gennai asked while staring at "Gennai" with a murderous intent.

"Gennai" have a madding laugh and beckoned the man over. He was about to charge back in when he was interrupted by a chilling scream.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Both Maki and the Digimon screamed in unison unleashing dark waves which the Digimon were first to shield their partners and Gennai had to raise his sword in defense to brace the impact.

"TAPIRMON"...wait that's Tapirmon? Gennai though to himself? While the creature looked nothing like a normal Tapirmon from being corrupted from darkness and it was horribly disfigured there was a small sign of it...NO HOW COULD HE HAVE MISSED IT! That's THE Tapirmon that Maki had as a child, now it was all making sense. SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT how could I have missed this? How could I have been so careless and overlooked this detail he continued to berate himself "DARK EVOLUTION!" Tapirmon finished.

"MEGADRAMON" shouted the beast. However it's appearance was not like a normal Megadramon. For instance as Kari noticed its skin was blue, almost like when Agumon did a dark evolution to MetalGreymon all those years ago. For lack of a better explanation it looked like a zombie she thought. Tai she briefly thought to herself before forcing that out of her mind.

The next thing happened so fast, "Gennai" was on top of Gennai, his fist were glowing purple and was matching Gennai blow for blow against Gennai's sword. "Sorry, I can't have you interfere yet" "Gennai" said. "You're never going to hurt ANYONE again" Gennai stated back.

As the Gennai's were dueling Megadramon charged right into the three Digimon. Angewomon tried to hold it back but was cast off into the wall with a hard thud.

"Angewomon!" Kari Yelled

"Hand of Fate" "Electro Shocker" Angemon and Kabuterimon shouted firing off their attacks.

"Dark Side attack" Megadramon countered the moves then with a wave a darkness knocked Angemon and Kabuterimon off balance and threw Kabuterimon into Angemon.

"Look Out!" T.K. yelled but Angemon couldn't move out of the way in time and got tackled by Kabuterimon and they both hit the ground hard.

"Kabuterimon don't give up!" Izzy shouted in defiance.

"Go...Goooo...destroy" Maki stated. It was unknown if she even knew where she was anymore.

Megadramon roared and tried to attack the two downed champion level Digimon but was met by arrows and forced to fly back in retreat.

"Celestial Arrow" Angewomon fired again hitting the right wing of Megadramon which did singe its wing but also made it even madder.

"T.K. Izzy, Angemon, and Kabuterimon, I know it's risky for you all to go ultimate but we'll need more power to take him down. What we have now won't be enough. The darkness is making it stronger." Angewomon said before she and Megadramon clashed in the air. "Ugh...HURRY...CAN'T HOLD FOR LONG"

Kabuterimon looked at Izzy and they both understood what this next action would cost them but they needed to do it. Izzy held out his digivice and for the first time Kari and T.K. understood how little time Izzy had left with his partner.

Kabuterimon Super Evolution...MegaKabuterimon The clocked ticked down several steps but Izzy couldn't regret it right now. Kari wanted to say something but knew she would have to wait until the fight was over.

Angewomon was thrown off and hit the floor again hard but MegaKabuterimon flew back up and tackled Megadramon.

Horn Buster, the attack hit home and Megadramon was knocked so hard into the wall the wall cracked.

However Megadramon didn't seem to notice and flew back up to retaliate.

Angemon and T.K. locked eyes and knew it was their time to act.

Angemon Super Evolution...MagnaAngemon

MagnaAngemon countered the charge from Megadramon with his sword and slashed him away cutting into the metal and blue flesh.

RAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Megadramon screamed in pain.

"No...noo...nooo...not again I won't...I won't let you take my friend away from me..."Maki said as darkness waves enveloped her.

The darkness latched onto Megadramon and all the damage that the 3 ultimate level Digimon was healed instantly.

"WHAT?" Angewomon stated in disbelief.

She fired some more arrows which Megadramon didn't even try to avoid. The arrows hit home but it just healed up just as quick without even noticing.

"Umm..guys, we're going to need a new tactic." Izzy said. "T.K. Kari, I believe we can't save Megadramon. We also can't destroy it with conventional means. We'll have to use MagnaAngemon to seal it.

Kari again covered her mouth "no way, there must be something else we can do?"

The 3 Ultimates were slowly getting pushed back.

"Kari" T.K. said while putting his hand on her shoulder. "I'm sure Megadramon would want us to stop it before it hurts others or Maki. We're out of options, we can't let it roam free as it's a danger to the Digital World. It's up to us now to make the hard choices, our brothers aren't here to do that for us anymore."

Kari's eyes went misty for a brief moment, then she nodded. "Okay" she said solemnly. How are we going to do this?

Izzy stated, we'll have use Heaven's Charm to hold it in place, MagnaAngemon will use the Gate of Destiny, and MegaKabuterimon will push it in. After that we can help Gennai.

The three spared a quick look at Gennai who was still stuck in a stalemate with "Gennai" neither seemed to be gaining any ground but who knew how long that could last. Also Maki was looking worse for wear by the moment, the battle seemed to be taking a huge toll on her.

Did you three catch all of that T.K. said?

Yep all 3 of the ultimate Digimon said.

Alright, Heaven's Charm! Gate of Destiny!

"AAAAAAAAND PUSHHHHHH" MegaKabuterimon said while pushing Megadramon.

"Ahhh Rawww" Megadramon roared in anger and defiance but the charm was zapping it's strength and MegaKabuterimon was pushing it closer and closer to the Gate of Destiny.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" Maki scream "I won't let you take my friend again you MONSTERS" before unleashing one last burst of energy which knocked out her already weakened body.

Then the plan started to fall apart. MagnaAngemon and Angewomon both hit the ground glowing trying not to loose control of their attacks.

"MagnaAngemon!" T.K. screamed.

"Angewomon what's wrong?" Kari followed up.

"My...strength..." Angewomon weakly said

"So...tired...trying to hold on" MagnaAngemon said.

Kari and T.K. both looked on their Digivices and their eyes went wide in horror. Both of them showed a separation clock. The countdown to when they will loose their best friends have begun.
