CHAPTER 3 - Monster School
Monster School - a place where monsters and supernaturals attend a school to learn their monster and supernatural history properly and how to use their powers.
Alice holds Bella's arm as they walk down the halls of the school together. Bella looks around at the halls.
"What is this place really?"
"There is no other place in the world for people like us. This is Cullen Falls Boarding School Bella. You are in West Virginia, not Washington anymore."
"What? People like us? How did I travel across the freaking US in the blink of an eye?"
"No one knows, I mean you arrived by a freaking lightning bolt."
"What?" Alice went quiet.
"Uh, that is something we can figure out later. Now, Cullen Falls Boarding School is kind of like Hogwarts but real life. We have some classes that you would find in any American School, but also classes you won't."
"Like what?"
"Spell work."
"Spell work?"
"Don't worry, first you are taking the Legacies course to get you started. Catch you up on all supernatural history you need to know to move forward. Every new student must take this class," Alice said.
"Wait? School?"
"Didn't you get your letter?"
"Letter?"
"Yeah, that was your invitation. Everyone gets a letter to come to Cullen Falls Boarding School, even those who know all about magic and the ones who are naturally supernatural."
Bella passed a large bulletin board filled with flyers. One flyer mentioned a Spell work Study Group. Another flyer for the Basketball Club. Another flyer for Polo try-outs.
"Let me take you to my room first before Principal Esme calls us."
Alice and Bella walk ahead to stop at her lockers. There were hundreds of lockers in a row. Bella had never seen so many lockers. Alice grabbed some books after she muttered a spell in front of one locker and then the locker was snap shut. Alice sighed as she knew what was about to happen. Bella looked ahead and saw three blonde girls looking at Alice with contempt.
"Hello Alice," said the blonde girl, number 1.
Alice ignored them and cocked her head to Bella, telling her to come along. The book flew out of Alice's hand and started to float around. Alice walks ahead to grab a book when Bella watches the group of girls knocks Alice to the ground. All three of the blonde girls were smiling down at Alice.
"Freak!"
Bella got annoyed and electricity snapped at all three of them, their perfect hairs going in all directions. They all looked horrified as they looked at each other. They tried to touch each other but pulled back as static electricity shocked them.
"Bella, it's okay," Alice said.
Bella snapped from her stupor and looked at Alice. The girls finally took aware of Bella's presence and walked away without saying anything. Possibly in fear.
"Who are they?" Bella asked, helping Alice up once the three blonde girls walked on.
"Oh, just my best friends."
"They are awfully mean to you." Alice chuckled.
"Yeah, I guess so. They are witches, natural born, but we call them the Fates around here. Denali triplet sisters. Irina, Kate, and Tanya." Bella looked at them again. She locked eyes with one girl when Alice pulled her away. "Don't look at Tanya!" Bella gasped as she felt a prickling of pain in her head again before Alice yanked her around, breaking eye contact with the girl. "Tanya can force you to do her will by just locking eyes. Kate has to touch, however, sending shockwaves of electricity to control you, while Irina just needs to say it, like suggestively while locking eyes and you will bend to her will. Like I said we call them the Fates. Their father is a teacher here, you will meet him soon too." Alice had her books stacked up nicely again before she handed Bella one book. "Look through that book. It's our Legacy book or History book." Bella picked up a book and started flipping through it.
"So, your mean girls."
"Yup, beautiful and devilish." Bella looked back at the trio of blonde girls. All of a sudden, a beautiful blonde and mountain of guy walked down the wall. Alice paused enough to stare at them. Bella watched Alice watching them. The girl glared at Alice, Bella could have sworn she even heard a hiss before the guy next to her, took her hand and kissed the side of her head. The girl hugged his arm and continued walking on. Though Bella could not miss her red eyes as she smirked.
"Who are they?" Bella asked once they walked by and were out of range.
"Rosalie and Emmett, come on."
Bella is taken to Alice's room, Twilight Tower after she briefly passes what looks like a library with rows and rows of bookshelves, desks, couches, and chairs.
"Well, this is my tower. Most of us weirdos and unknown hybrids stay in Twilight Tower. The vamps have their own tower called Dawn Tower in the east a little bigger than ours. The witches stay in Raven's Goth Haven on the west, which is the second-largest tower, while the Wolves have Alpha Moon Hall on the ground floor on the north side. Don't go to the dungeons on the lower level, especially during a full moon, that's where we keep the untrained werewolves during their transformations. Also, there might be a few other monsters too we can't let out and keep them there." Bella found out about other dormitories like Choral Coven, an aquarium dormitory where most sea creatures like mermaids reside, and the smallest dormitory called Elfin Valley Coven for elves and fairies since most fairies still live in Ireland.
There are at least six different covens at the school. Bella stood in awe as she stepped into a common area. Once they arrive inside Twilight Tower, she comes inside and is welcomed by the roaring fire, stuffed armchairs, and the great view we have from their windows. Gold chandeliers cast a warm glow all around. There was so much red and gold. The lady's dormitories are reached by climbing the winding mahogany staircase, decorated with crimson and gold.
"This is my room." Bella looked around. She loved the long dorm room. There were 5, 4-poster beds covered in thick blankets of all colors. "This is your room now too. I don't have any roommates, so you're stuck with me," Alice said. Bella looked at Alice's stack of books next to her bed.
"You like books?"
"I love them. You?"
"I love books too."
"Cool. I will take you to our library then. It spreads out like a football field long."
"This is amazing, but why here?"
"Well, since you don't fit in any one fraction yet, we go here. It's the smallest tower, but don't think you aren't powerful here, especially after what you did."
"But I'm human."
"A human can't teleport using lightning or stop the famous Edward Cullen."
"Edward Cullen?"
"The boy you knocked on his ass."
"What am I then?"
"I don't know. You're not a witch or a vampire, and you clearly don't smell like a werewolf."
"What are you then?"
"Well, my mother was a fairy, but I don't have normal fairy powers which are why they put me here and not with other fairies. I don't know what else I am, but it's sometimes too powerful for me, especially my visions. My mother died before telling me who my father was. I came here a few years ago myself after I..."
"After what?"
"I had a vision and well, somehow I saw a terrible accident involving several cars and an airplane. Saw it drop right out of the sky." Bella's eyes went wide. "No one believed me. Until the plane crashed right in the hospital's parking lot. It was like I brought the vision to me. My foster parents had sent me to a mental hospital after my vision. A lot of people died, and everyone blamed me, but it was their fault for not believing me."
"Wow." Bella watched as a sparkling butterfly flew into the room and whispered something into Alice's ear. She smiled and nodded. The butterfly disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"Yes, but I was only in that mental hospital a few months before Mrs. Esme heard about the crazy girl, who could predict the future. Mrs. Esme knew I wasn't crazy, just gifted, so she brought me here. Come, let me take you to meet Mrs. Esme. She just called."
"Called?"
"Butterflies, birds, even a rabbit can send a message."
"Mrs. Esme, she is like a teacher or something?"
"She is our Headmistress. Think of her as the school's principal. But she is so much more. She's a witch. One of the most powerful witches in the entire world today. And she's over 900 years old."
"Wow."
Bella walked down the long hallway toward the main office area. She looks up to see the Administrator's sign.
"She's right in there there's a second door, go on." Alice left Bella to meet Esme alone.
